Dodds Sacked

Club Statement

It is with much regret that the club has taken the decision to terminate the contracts of Head Coach Billy Dodds and his Assistant Manager Barry Wilson with immediate effect.

Assistant Manager Barry Wilson is a club legend and he has more than ably served the club as player and coach. His many years here as both, and the respect with which he has been held, shows our appreciation of his service.

Sometimes in football we have to make difficult decisions and both of the decisions outlined above fall very hard into that category.

Sporting Director John Robertson and Academy Director Charlie Christie will take charge of the team in the interim period while we endeavour to find a new Head Coach in short order and applications will be accepted at [email protected]

ClubNews-copy.pngTo be honest, it's not difficult to see why this has happened. Over the last ten games played we have only beaten Inverness Clachnacuddin in the Inverness Cup Final. So that leaves eight defeats and a solitary draw. Here's the reasons below. But should other heads roll as well? Billy was short changed on the park, and off the park we have been a shambles.

From the outside looking in, some are wondering why we have sacked such a successful manager? Well, closer inspection will reveal more. He's an affable sort of guy. However, it's been the 'jobs for the boys' 2 year contract that has stuck in most peoples throats. That in itself is not down to Dodds. After all, who would turn that down after a couple of mediocre seasons where we have failed to get promoted and only made the Scottish Cup final by default after Queens Park messed up. All that did was paper over the cracks! We went on massive winless runs over the last two seasons that almost gave the impression the remit was to not get promoted as we are not ready for it. The style of football has been likened to our worst ever hoofball or Doddsball as it has now become known as. Excuses have been piling up and many fans have openly said they won't be back unless there is a total clearout. Well it looks like the root causes of this have removed Billy and Barry (a club legend sacked by association) to deflect from their own inability to run the club. Failed ventures (Inverness Caley Thistle Concert Company Ltd), broken promises (communication), where's Wally Robbo (invariably Dingwall), what does our CEO do and who or what is our SLO.  Communication with the support has never been so poor, it's almost as if we have become an inconveniance. Lack of quality on and off the pitch. From the fans point of view it appears that we are paying hefty wages and get little in return for this. Who on earth thought it was a great idea to release an orange away strip on July 12th? Surely we don't have sectarian bigots running our club? I'd like to think we are above all this nonsense, however many believe this is what we have become under the present regime.

What's the answer? It's time for a total revamp before we plunge into that abyss from which it's very difficult to emerge from and obscurity beckons. Hopefully this is just the start...

Let's get back to being the family club we once were and made us all proud.

  • Gardiner/Morrison will be hoping that takes the heat of them for a bit.  We can't let it.  The club is rotten to the core and whilst Dodds needed to go, so do the aforementioned.

  • and... a big waste of money.

  • I think it's more important to get the football side of things sorted first. You can get your pitchforks and torches out later.

Dodds is pretty settled up north now isn't he? Not that much of a surprise that he's picked up a Sportsound gig again especially for the games in Dingwall.

Dodds back on the radio today seeming perplexed about why he was punted while Chick Young and but chums wax lyrical about caley being rash and Billy being treated unfair. Also ducking and weaving any acknowledgement or interest into the action at Gayfield.

If Dodds genuinely never saw this coming or thought there were issues then hes clearly as narcissistic and deluded as the rest at the club.

I don't think Dodds is narcissistic (others at the club clearly are) I think he's just pretty clueless.

In fairness, I'd be a little perplexed if I'd just been handed a 2 year contracts extension a few weeks prior to being dumped, and following the drivel Gardiner spouted in the statement explaining it.

Apparently one of the Directors is covering Ferguson's wage bill, so I'm wondering if was Gardiner's decision to get rid, or if he's just trying to milk some credit for it.  Either way, it fits with suggestions the club were in a position where we couldn't afford to sack him.

Dodds is probably shocked at being dumped and may well have been double crossed !! What a feckin shame. Perhaps Robbo may receive a farewell e-mail on his jollies !!

Irrespective whether Dodds or his radio chums felt he was harshly treated (they’re all living in an ivory tower), the simple fact is Dunc managed to get a victory with the same group of players, where he couldn’t.

Suck it up Dodds, you put us through some of the most awful matches I ever witnessed in ICT colours.

Enjoy your half time cuppa with Chic, Willie M and other ‘media stars’ for years to come!

Ironically, Dodds team won 4-1 the last time he visited Gayfield in the Championship...

In the Mickey Mouse Cup

When you are getting scudded every week, there’s no such thing as a Mickey Mouse cup.

And it’s also the last national trophy we won.

I see Clach have sacked their manager, could this be the right opportunity for Dodds to get back into the game!

He'll be after the Rangers job now that Beale has gone

I was just thinking that after I posted. I had a look on some rangers sites, some of them are wanting Duncan Ferguson as he has a 100% win record with us!

Maybe the Clach Rangers job!!!

Dodds never really struck me as someone who could motivate players.  He had his chance to do this especially with all our injuries last year. Then at the start of this season with some new faces and few injuries he completely lacked that skill.

Hopefully they plump for robbo’s cv and management track record! He managed Derry for a ‘dod’ so thats a plus in his favour!!

Managing Derry a plus for Rangers? 🤔

  • 1 year later...

I heard today Dodds name being mentioned as part of interim management team for Rangers.

‘Cant keep a good man down’. Knew his tactical nous would be sought after sooner or later. Just surprised Celtic have been found sleeping and hadn’t moved for him!!!

I thought you were joking!

Barry Ferguson as interim manager:   "Ferguson, 47, is a Rangers icon having formerly been club captain and winning loads of major trophies. But this is his first coaching gig since 2022. The former Clyde, Kelty Hearts and Alloa boss will be joined in the dugout by current Gers No2 Issame Charai plus ex-players Neil McCann, Billy Dodds and Allan McGregor".

Get big Dunc in there too as defence coordinator. Also add Robbo as media match commentator to make a full pack of ICT connections.
“Dream team”!

The rangers CEO Patrick Stewart trying to get them “ To boldly go where no man has gone before ”.

Time to beam him up, in fact Scotty you are just the man to do it. But then, can you change the law of physics. 😄
