v East Fife @ home Sept2025

East Fife Four Forfar Five

Some 'headlines' are harder than others to forget, like SuperCaleygoBallistic.... It was only in his head, but it did eventually happen, sadly, after his death. The Scottish League Cup Group B tie between the sides went to penalties after a 1-1 draw. And the score in the shootout? East Fife 4 Forfar 5. Thanks to Eric Morecambe for that one. However, back to business. One of this seasons promoted sides, East Fife, come North on Saturday for a 3:00pm kick-off at the Caledonian SarensPSG Stadium. They have had a solid start to the season sitting in mid-table, and with Dick Campbell at the helm that's no surprise. It's fair to say he has had a tough paper round, but as a football manager he knows the game inside out, gaining seven promotions at five different clubs managing Brechin and Arbroath from Tier 4 up to Tier 2. Some might say he has had plenty practice, but there's a shrewd tactician in there somewhere and he certainly knows his way around the lower leagues where he has been very successful and always makes you work hard for the points.

Look who is at the helm of HMS SNECK as she sails into calmer waters having survived the tsunami's of the last few seasons. Great to see the wee happy smiles on the faces again. Billy and Kells also doing their best to grin having guided us through stormy waters to safety and security.

Substitutes are listed as Ridgers, Milen, Allan, Mackinnon, McKay, Robertson, Strachan, Alonge, and Bavidge. In the Pink at Palmerston with this squad last weekend and we came away with three well deserved points thanks to two tremendous goals from Chanka Zimba and a seventy yard (70) effort from Luis Longshot.

  6. Cove R 0-1 ICTFC

  7. QofSth 0-2 ICTFC

Our 6-0 hammering of Dundee B in midweek will have given Scott Kellacher much food for thought as he selects his team for this weekend. Another swashbuckling performance with some stunning goals, none moreso than the Jordan Alonge mega rocket from around 28 yards, ooooft!

I'm not sure I've seen a better strike anywhere in all my puff. What a hit! Power, control and precision. Boom! That aside, we had a MotM performance from Adam MacKinnon and great to see Ross Millen back on the park. Paul Allan getting more minutes in the legs as well. All good here.

League1 Results

  1. Head 4-1 E Fife

  2. E Fife 0-1 Alloa

  3. Accies 1-2 E Fife

  4. E Fife 2-1 Kelty

  5. Stenn 1-1 E Fife

  6. E Fife 2-1 Queens

  7. E Fife 1-1 Monty

Defender Andy Munro and forwards Nathan Austin and Bobby Jones have all scored twice in League1 this season. They have a pretty potent strike force of Nathan Austin, Michael McKenna and Tommy Goss though.

The clubs have only met 11 times with the Caley Jags winning 7, drawing twice and losing twice. The most recent fixture saw Inverness win 1-0 in November 2020. Played at an empty stadium during Covid. Inverness won the game but all credit to East Fife for making this a tough tie. It took a penalty save by Cammy Mackay in stoppage time to keep us ahead after Shane Sutherland had opened the scoring in the second half. We had Mackay to thank for a wonderful save in the first half as well and he was my MotM.

East fife home.pngThe Fifers, formed in 1903, were the first to win the Scottish League Cup three times and the first of only two sides from the second tier of the Scottish league system to win the Scottish Cup. This makes them the most successful club in Fife in terms of major honours won ponder

Only six years after becoming members of the Scottish League, East Fife appeared in the 1927 Scottish Cup Final, which they lost 3–1 to Celtic at Hampden Park. The 1927 cup feat was surpassed just over a decade later when "The Fifers" won the 1937–38 Scottish Cup. The prestigious trophy was secured with a 4–2 win over Kilmarnock in the replayed final. The game was watched by a crowd of almost 92,000 spectators amazed

Here we can see the fans arriving in their wee fishing boats to dock at the Stadium Port.

Club Song: The team's pre-game anthem is "Telstar" by The Tornados, named after the communications satellite launched in 1962.

Picturesque Villages: The East Neuk is a popular tourist area with beautiful fishing villages, including St Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, and Crail.

I’m missing tomorrow’s game due to a family birthday but I’ll have the BBC Sport app to hand to stay close to the action and the score.

We’ve been much more eager to take shots on in the last two games and I hope that continues tomorrow and we keep our winning run going. If we play as we can, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t get all three points.

Enjoy the game all of you who are lucky enough to be able to go!

I see East Fife are streaming this one to anyone outside of the UK. £25 it is for a 30 day membership for anyone interested 👌 Full footage can be watched back afterwards as well.

Why don’t we offer anything like this if East Fife can manage it?

This was raised at the Fans Meeting in August. The question and answer are copied here (Andrew is Andrew Benjamin, the club’s Commercial Director):

Any plans for match commentaries or streaming (outwith the UK) for fans unable to attend games?

Andrew advised that they were exploring opportunities for this and checking the legalities surrounding it.

I can subscribe to DAZN over here and get pretty much ALL the EPL for $30 per month. This one match would be closer to $50 in Canadian money. Even the one channel that shows Scottish football (basically whoever is playing one of the twins that week) is closer to $20 per month

Having said that ... It is expensive for clubs to stream, but many did put in the infrastructure during COVID so capital costs may be less of an issue. I assume EF have such a high price because they anticipate low uptake against the high cost of making the service available. Not sure what infrastructure we have left after the great service we had was ripped out in favour of the bald referee camera system.

As much as I would love to see ICT every week, if the cost is prohibitive for the club or customer then I can do without.

This will be another tough battle as they will dig in deep but hopefully we can break them down and get an early goal or two as we have had plenty practice in the last week! Looking forward to the game ictscarf

During my time there, from when we started with just basic highlights, right through to doing multi-camera live streaming with professional commentary, I had estimated that myself, and others involved, had spent/provided equipment/given time to a value in excess of £300k*....what was charged for live viewing pretty much covered the streaming platform costs only. It was zero cost to the club.

It really does rely on volunteers/good will to make it financially viable for clubs...even with a basic single camera setup.

The club didn't own any of the equipment/technical infrastructure and, from what I'm told, what was left behind is now unusable for various reasons.

*This is what it would have cost if it had all been done 'in house' with the club purchasing all equipment, cabling, software, paying for infrastructure install, paying people's time etc.

We didn't need to spend that much, but the cost of additional kit required to do things like live action replays from multiple cameras etc. quickly mounts up, and it was as much a passion project as anything else.

Back tae the fitba; can’t see how this crowd of Methil renegades (on parole for the weekend), led by a decrepit old has-been that’s been kicked out of a dozen clubs can dare to show there face today and expect nothing but a thumpin.

Well done to the team today.

Naw listen!

That was what I call a very entertaining way to spend a Saturday. Football is FUN again.

Well done lads, on the game and also on reaching top of the table. ictscarf

Magnificent

Great day with other results going in our favour too.

5 point deduction brushed aside before the end of September, top of the league already and looking like we could very well hang on to it.

So, Eagle4Caley, how much are you enjoying your season so far? 😁

Top of the league. When could we last say that?

For a few minutes last Saturday, until Stenny scored wink

Seriously, though, 2 points clear after 8 games, having given them all a 5 point start, is amazing!

Averaging over 2.6 points per game, whilst all of the others are below 2.

Was a wee bit concerned at half time. Felt the first half was a bit subdued and their equaliser a shock.

Needn’t have worried. In the second half we blew them away. Our 4th goal being the pick of the bunch with a brilliant combination from Billy to Bavidge who powered through on goal and slammed past the keeper.

Great feeling to be back at the top of the league again, especially from a -5 start.

Special mention to DRoss who to be fair is a much better assistant referee than he is a politician, . . . . and he’s a feckin sheeeite assistant referee! How he managed to determine a goal kick against wotherspoon when the defender clearly kicked the ball out is beyond me!

Wasn’t too impressed with first half. Thought we were playing too many sideways passes going nowhere.

Lost a bad goal when the east fife player going nowhere eased past our defender put a cross onto Austin’s button for a free header past Munro.

Second half we had a little more urgency until the introduction of bavidge changed the game. He had energy, speed, was direct and caused havoc in east fife defence. What ever was holding him back this season is gone and is a must start next game.

Wotherspoon's second goal was pure class.

Our attendance was way greater than the other four games combined.

Easton's injury did not look very good. We wish him well.

The young referee was very good. The entertainment when he asked a substitute to return from the field of play to the dugout was made funnier by the announcer when he went back on again. Presumably 'Two Soups' messed up the paperwork.

Hamilton looks like a really challenging game next weekend.

Sounds like I missed a great second half.

To be top of he league by the end of September beats all our most optimistic hopes.

Kell must be in line for Manager of the Month again.

Hamilton seem to be emerging as our biggest rivals so let’s put them in their place next Saturday.

Well done to all involved!

The standing stand looked good - shame that the rain came along. It was also funny to hear a very young, young team of supporters giving Douglas Ross a hard time at one stage. And lots of new strips on the youngsters too. The future's looking bright 💰.

Thoroughly enjoyed the game, can't wait to rewatch the goals, especially wee Alfie's.

Is it just me or did EF use 7 subs? Rules are up to 5 nominated substitutes with the addition of 1 other in the event of extra time being played as per Rule G19 (page 58).

I thought they made 6 subs and the confusion was around them using the rule that allows a sub for a head injury? If it was its worrying- but not surprising - the officials don't know the rules.
