Dear Terry Here is this week's training ground schedule: Throw ins - all players must be aware at all times and ready and willing to accept the ball from a throw in. I understand that this is contrary to current thinking where players hide at every opportunity and attach themselves to a marker in order not to receive the ball. Corner kicks - let's work on varying these. Why not try a short one for a change, swing ball away from the goalie or reach the back post on occasions. High balls to Adam - forget it. Adam won one, yes one ball, in the air last night yet we persisted in lobbing high balls in his general direction. Build from the back - as per previous comment, work on passing our way out of defence. Take a leaf out of Killie's book where they consistently passed their way up the park even though they have a big target man up front. Instruct our central defenders to think before hoofing high balls up the field to the opposition, we have one culprit in particular who hoofs 80% of his clearances up the park just to see the ball come straight back down towards him. Finally, don't panic. We are still a very good side who were due a bad patch. Stick together and the ship will steady soon.5 points

I was chatting away to a few pals the other day, and none of us could remember us having any sort of bad 'run' yet this season. Every team has a bad spell, and I think this may well be ours. I'm not too bothered we've lost 2 on the trot, and both were at home. Simply because we have shown ourselves so far this season as being a team to fear. That fear will still be there in Perth on the 2nd. They'll know we've lost the last two, but they'll also know we've got a fantastic away record and a great mix of youth and experience to compete with anyone. We're sitting 5th now (on goal diff from Killie). At the start of the season, If someone was to offer that going into new year, I would have taken it. Perhaps with this fantastic year and the praise we've had from the footballing world, the expectation levels have once again risen to high from our supporters? Lets keep our feet on the ground and concentrate on 3 points in our next league encounter! 'MON THE CALEY JAGS2 points

This is getting a bit polarised (again) I agree that Chants about Bell's maw are distasteful, but chucking insults back about workshy youth and being snide about who supports who, when and why ain't going to help. The "venomous" one was off to my left and up the back and again, I'd rather he learned a new sweary word to counteract the constant use of the C word. If you have a problem with any of that section, have a word - they are not confrontational or stupid and have reacted positively at any time I've said anything to them. I think there was an element of "humour" about the Blumenshtein chants, but it was a bit convoluted for my taste and ceratainly not aimed in any antisemitic way that I could discern. That way lies madness, and i think that us old timers would have been in there sorting them out had it been the case. They are tiresome at times, but vicious they are not. Next time, just have a word - I'll back you up.1 point

What "goal-scoring" ability? He hasn't scored or looked like scoring for ages. And anyway, it could be argued that if Sanchez (or someone of that ilk) played instead, ICT as a team would score more goals and play better as a team, even with the lack of the inclusion of Odhiambo. Sometimes the best players are the ones who create the goals, not just the ones that score them.1 point

The things that I need to work on is to remind myself that I have been too critical of my team due to the fact that they have played so well. Only 4 defeats in 17 games and the expectation kind of rises that defeat isn't really an option any more. In the St Mirren/Killy games I have forgotten to look at what is good and hone in what goes wrong and kind of forgetting why I support my local team. I have kind of leapfrogged the thought of a top six for the first time and instead zooming in on playing some European team in a cup next season. ICT have some great fans that support the team to the bitter end without the pressure of expectation and I must remind myself to try and reach the level of those fans.1 point

. I stand at the back of section G and know most people that stand there and would love to see you prove that we dont work much. Alot of people there have full time jobs so your talking rubbish All the lads i go to games with have hardly missed an away game this season so again another person talking crap.1 point

Been saying that for a while now.. Duff is doing ok at RB, but is being wasted, he could do so much more for us in the middle. Also need to tighten up LB too, Shinnie will one for the future, but we need Gillet back soon.1 point

I dont think your wrong George and I'd go further and say that if I heard rascist remarks being directed and players, such as you've described, I'd be chatting with the first policeman I came across and pointing out the offender regardless of which team he or she purports to support.1 point

Section G certainly has the potential. There's a fair wee collection of singers in there and almost double the gathering that I had expected. The chants were flowing at the beginning - but lets face it - there has to be summat going on down on the pitch to rev up any atmosphere and that was sadly lacking last nite. But there was no overt slagging off or venom - only some frustration and no feckin wonder. Think Dalneigh Caley summed it up when he said the atmosphere rises when you are winning although I would say that the atmosphere rises when you are given some entertainment or some hope - without Hayes that is simply nondescript. But give Section G a bit of a boost with some attacking football and it deffo has the potential to match the Away support. But Respect to the Killie boys - for a Wednesday nite in mid December that was some turn up and some feckin noise.1 point

Sorry to say this lads n lasses but we were always losing this one. Killie are a very good side - probably the best in the SPL IMVHO. Our problem is at the back. As much as people like Munro and Tokely, neither have the pace to keep up with SPL strikers. Is it Terry's fault? Again, IMVHO opinion no. There's not the fanbase to support the team financially. Ultimately, and it's the last thing I'll say tonight: FTOF.1 point

I think a lot of our problems at home arise from the fact that we do not adapt our formation to suit playing at home. The 4-2-3-1 which he has stuck with has been a revelation away because it is suited perfectly to playing counter attacking football. We have done it to teams for over a year and now teams are doing it to us on our own patch Simply put, we should not be playing counter attacking football at home. Away from home we are happy for the opposition to have the ball at the back and then break up play and counter. This will not work at home and quite evidently is not working. We gave Killie too much time on the ball and they passed in simple triangles to feet and could retain possession comfortably. Killie or any away team for that matter should not have seen as much of the ball as was allowed tonight. IMO the 4-2-3-1 system is ideal on the road but we need to alter it at home so that the opposition see as little of the ball as possible.1 point

Hmm, can't agree with Tokely escaping the "rubbish" tag to be honest. It was very much an off day for pretty much everyone really with Esson redeeming himself with saves from the free kick and the penalty. Not only do we look devoid of belief we look devoid of general ability. The seemingly simple task of finding a team mate with a pass appeared to be beyond a lot of the guys tonight and it's hard to figure out why that is. We had a good chance in the first half if I mind right, it involved a few passes including one sweeping pass from Munro (?) out to the right and the attack built up there. Might have been Foran or Rooney attacking a cross but the point is that when we take the time to find a team mate we seem to enjoy a wee bit of success. Unfortunately we seemed to be far too keen to welly it into the channels for Rooney to chase and we turn over possession. The first Killie goal came from a long punt down the left hand side, completely aimless and Kilmarnock mopped it up, recycled possession and started their attack. They hit a few passes about and eventually got a goal from it. Why can't we do that? Do we not have the players to do it? Certainly the middle of the park is an area where we don't have any creative drive but we have players who can pass a ball so why do we give it up so easily to the other team? Why do we persist in aimless punts down the other end of the park? Keep the ball. if the other team don't have it then they aren't going to score. I'm not expecting Barcelona style passing from ICT but we can do better than what we've seen in the last couple of home games.1 point

Welcome to West Drive and GTWB Productions are proud to present the Grand Final of the 2010 CTO Festive Sevens. The Overseas fans will be sited in the Mapplebeck Stand and the Granville Paterson Enclosure - the CaleyJaggie following will be sited in the Dan Fridge Stand and the Toich Terrace. Officials for this match will be David Sutherland and Alan Savage on the lines, Graham Bennett as the fourth official and the referree will be the legendary ADC Kidd - Commentary on Jackanory FM will be provided by Charlie "where did I leave my towel" Bannerman. CTO CaleyJaggies: KingBeastie; Govan Jaggie; CapitalCaley; Red Card Riley; Internet Jnr: IHE; Stirling Observer; Joe DiMaggio; davieb; Bronson CTO Overseas: Scotty; ronnyc; Scarlet Pimple; Jock Watt; Gabby; kilda; ymip; luvgravy; Tug IHE takes the kick off and .............. the whistle blows .............. both linesman have flagged ... ADC Kidd gets feedback from the fourth official ... IHE is shown a red card and a one way ticket in a Black Maria. ONLY JOKING That would never hapen in real life Caley Jaggies appear to be spurned on and Govan Jaggie secures a lead with a swerving shot that would be lauded in Bechins fer many a year. But the boys from overseas are not finished and luvgravy equalises with a flighted effort. King Beastie does his Animal impersonation and tries to drum up the lads on the Toich Terrace. He has been thought to have been particulary nervous about being a custodian in West drive as Granville has a history with Shetland fillies. The game is going from end to end. ronnyc breaks from the back and lights up the stadium like feckin Times Square with an effort from half way which eludes the troubled king beastie. But back come the CaleyJaggies as Red Card polishes off a great davieb through ball and Krakows it in to the onion bag. The Toich Terrace resembles a Lech Poznan under 10 game. But in the dying moments the substitute Tug produces a bit of magic. It is as if he has come out of the trenches, he crawls along the touchline and fires in a bullet off a shot - but it is going wide - but it feckin richochets of Jock watts zimmer and bulges in to the back of the net. The final whistle blows - CTO CaleyJaggies 2 CTOOverseas 3 CTO Overseas are the 2010 CTO Festive Sevens Winners and Scotty prepares to climb the gantry to accept the award from Provost Dan Corbett but allows Tug to take his place. The stadium rises in applause. Why - cos we have "heroes" like Naelifts and his paramedic duties and we even have IHE looking after the lives of the mentally ill of Lancashire but that is nowt compared to anyone prepared to give their lives to the country. Hope I have got this right TUG but total respect and prayers to ya - and any other ICT supporting squaddie who wears our shirt proudly in the battle zone Nollaig chridheil agus Bliadhna mhath ur!1 point

I am picking this team after watching the St Mirren and Killy matches. The plan. use the full width of the pitch, numerous attacking options, diagonal balls up the wings and to forwards from Grant/Esson overlapping runs on both wings ---------Esson Tokely--Innes--Munro--Shinnie Ross--Duncan---Foran--Blumenshtein Sutherland----Rooney Esson superb picks himself. Tokely- would play well anywhere and is outstanding next to Grant but the ball trickles between Duff and Ross, so I would move him to right back for overlapping runs with Ross on the wing. Innes- as a stand in for Tokely. Munro-solid in defense, can kick a really accurate long ball always a threat in the box Shinnie-turning in to a great defender, can quickly shift up the wing in attack with an eye for goal too. Ross- a fast clever winger can pass well and would be more involved with Tokely on the wing. Duncan--strong defensive midfielder and drops back to protect right wing when Tokely goes forward Foran--pulled in to midfield for more close range passing options and will find himself in better goal scoring positions there Blumenshtein- looks determined on the ball and worthy of a start on the wing. Sutherland and Rooney big solid players with enough skill and strength to put the ball in the net.0 points

Sorry RIG but Tokely made superb tackles on numerous occasions to save us for first call stopped almost certain goal only if duff had followed bryson could have stopped which he did again shortly after. In my opinion either gilet is back from injury soon or buy someone to replace shinnie i know he is future blah blah put someone good against him he is destroyed crossing is abysmal why they let him take free kicks i dont know and was caught out of position on many occasions feel sorry for him in fact receives no cover at all from foran at all. Duncan+cox quite simply not good enough it is said hot and cold v hibs fantastic but lets be honest its to do with formation of course going to get overun when they are both left to face the oppositon midfield alone. Foran cant play wide either needs to be put in centre of midfield to help with the physical fight or up top with rooney as rooney cant win headers plain and simple and minus hayes it appears to be the only channel players willing to take. The introduction of Roy back into the team although not inspiring would help shore up the midfield on the left instead of foran as actually provides cover which shinnie being so inexperienced needs or maybe morrison a player with nice passes. Blumenstien has nice touches and good both feet surely a better option on left than foran all be it same problem no pace. For me it has been shown odhiambo has no fight and clearly has no place to fit in this formation Butcher refuses to change and sanchez well a lot say he should play but imo wasn't up to standard for last season so why in spl? One of only plus points from st mirren was Shane Sutherland yet today dropped really i know out of position on wing but did more than eric does in games... In short we need new full backs or return of Gillet and never thought would say it but proctor. And to change formation at home minus hayes no creativity are play would suit big kevin kyle not rooney needs help up top. Or we will start dropping down that league.0 points

How can you expect cox and duncan to outplay an entire midfield when they essentially face them alone..-1 points
-
Erm, Tokely (and Munro) got absolutely beasted by Sammon on numerous occasions and Tokely himself was guilty of turning over possession with all these aimless hoofs up the park, more often than not, out of play. Both he and Munro were pulled apart by Killie. It was a very poor performance defensively last night where only Esson can really emerge with pass marks. We're not talking about outplaying an entire midfield but in their role as defensive midfielders they should be closing down the space / man with the ball and trying and break up the opposition attacks. Last night Killie were given a lot of space which they exploited, particularly in behind our midfield and in front of our defence where there was a lot of free pitch on offer.-1 points
