  1. I just want to make a general public comment on the match previews and the reports ...... EXCELLENT For many years I wrote reports myself, badgered others into writing them, or used the official reports or newspaper reports to cobble something together. However, in the last year and a bit TM4TJ has taken on the role of "editor-in-chief" and brought together a small team of site members to provide these previews/reports. The job they have done so far has been immense and what they produce is consistently done to a very high standard that rivals and often betters the somewhat dry reports in the traditional media. Where else could you get football fans writing in so many different styles (Shakespeare, McGonigall, or just as a fan) and with wit, humour, and even honesty when predicting a hard game for our beloved Caley Jags. Tremendous job all round. This is the essence of what this site should be about ... yes its a place for debate and opinion, yes it will have some arguing, but there is also room for more people to become involved if they want to ... writing reports, producing one-off articles, helping us with stats and other such stuff .... I know TM4TJ and his team have set the bar high, but if anyone is out there thinking, "I would like to try" then please dont hesitate to contact one of the mods or admins to put yourself forward for some form of contribution .....

  2. I'll have one ear on this one tonight... A 0-0 draw probably the best result for ICT.

  3. That's not entirely true , I know loads of fans of Caley and Thistle that would never set foot in TCS .

  4. Jock MacDonald had nothing to do with Caley , I suggest you read the link below . http://www.ictfc.co.uk/articles/20081217/jock-mcdonald-obe_2208825_1490901

  5. Totally disagree with Dougal (but thats not exactly a first!). Like it or not the fact is and cannot be changed that our club was formed with a merger of two old and proud clubs.I agree with Caley D that it is a shame that this is not celebrated.

  7. As Harry hill would say - there is only one way to sort it out - FIGHT - but stop - unfair - Innes and Eric against the rest !! I am reliably informed that this was not purely about dressing room and training ground relationships but also about being in and out of the team and playing out of position. There was that feeling of loss of "togetherness" seeping through fer the first time since the Brewster era - but it was met face on this time in what sounds like an open and potentially amicable manner - It could well be that some players - even the more experienced ones - blocked this out or did not feel comfortable getting it off their chests in a group situation - it is also wholly feasible that Terry and Mo may have noticed the loss of that "togetherness" feeling and may not have been privvy to all the "facts" - The way it was done was exemplary and should augur well fer the future.

  10. You'd have to be extremely naive to think that you can have a squad of 20+ testosterone fuelled blokes all vying for a starting place in a team of 11 without there being any kind of issues....even if they were all the best of friends. I also think it's dangerous to try and read more into it than a couple of guys perhaps getting a little frustrated at not being selected or being played out of position or whatever. It's Butchers job to encourage anyone in that boat to channel the energy in a more constructive manner and make it work for the benefit of both the player and the team....and whilst it may have been allowed to get beyond being "healthy" it seems he's now identified the problem, confronted it and can now better manage it in future.

  12. I think if you could have chosen which 3 players you would want to score it would be the 3 who got goals yesterday. I've been very impressed with Sutherland this year but he was really needing a goal. Scoring will do his confidence no end of good and also for young Macdonald. Foran has missed one or two recently and whilst many have praised Pernis for his save from Foran last week, in truth Foran had acres of space at the near post and should have simply tucked it away there rather less spectacularly than trying to power it across goal into the far corner. Whilst Rooney did not score, the other 3 scoring was good for him. For too long he has been the lone striker and the weight of expectation has fallen from him. His place is not under threat and knowing there are others in the team who are scoring helps to take some of the pressure to score off him. This performance is just what was required before the Celtic game. A good performance there should help confidence to be transferred to the rest of the league season

  14. I'll be in Los Cristianos, having a few in Goodfellas Bar with my Man City supporting owner pals. They always find a station for me to watch ICT games and the last time I saw a Celtic cup tie there Denzil scored the winner. Hope this is an omen, especially with my 35/1 Billy Hill ticket still running!!

  15. Great result, should give the players a big boost, Cox, Russell, Hogg were the stand outs. Dont know how Young Nick is getting plaudits he was really off the pace and the game passed him by mostly apart from one run where he managed to set up Cox?. anyway i'll put it down to lack of match fitness. Foran did well and fought for the cause but not MOM. Young Macdonald did well, came on scored, nealy got another and nearly got booked!

  16. Fantastic turn around from Tuesday night and great too see Shane get off the mark, such a great strike too, hopefully thats one of many. And Alex McDonald getting his 1st goal too. Thought Butch got the tactics spot on today with Hogg and Tokely playing centre half, back four seemed much more solid and Duncan covered so much in midfield today and imo justified his cause for a starting place. Richie Foran, take a bow, played out of his skin today and by the looks of it was back to his best today. Motherwell for me looked sluggish, even when they were dominating in the 1st half, was very suprised to see Humphrey not starting, given Munro was at left back. By the time he was on it was all but over really was also funny watching the not so inspiring Francis Jeffers get bustled about by our backline, he never looked like scoring. Great to see us get back to winning ways and very pleasing to see us end a difficult week on a high.

  18. Phoned up fer ma ticket - asked for North Stand Section G - lad came back and said that there was a seat but felt that he had to infom me that it was four rows from the back and was used by "the young boys" for an unofficial Singing Section - I replied "That will do nicely thanks " - SORTED

  20. [error='For the avoidance of all doubt']Once again, a thread where the name Jock Stein is mentioned seems to give certain posters a sense of entitlement about trotting out the allegation - never proven - that he was aware of the actions of James Torbett. We have said this numerous times, and this will be the final time - If you want to post that, please be ready for the consequences. The consequence of posting this drivel WILL be a full and permanent ban from the site. We do not need this drivel posted, and we will not accept it. You have been warned.[/error]

  21. And dead As for CD's suggestion.......boogger that......lets plant a thistle on the main entrance walkway and get a real eagle to perch on it. I'm sure the Birdman of Eastgate could find us one.

  22. I wouldn't be erecting a statue to any particular individual. However, it's always bothered me that, as a club, we seem to shy away from everything pre-1994 so a pair of statues depicting the Eagle and the Thistle in recognition of the clubs roots and the work done by everyone to get us where we are would be most appropriate, IMO.

  23. It may be a season too far for Russell and Rosscoe - I suspect that it will depend on whether they want to be part of a SPL squad or whether they both feel that they can do a job in the SFL - I unfortunately suspect the latter. Keeping hold of Rooney will be a major plus but highly doubtful. Sanchez - unless he gets a late run of starts - will undoubtedly want to depart. Bloominshyte will probably want to go but we shouldnt let him go fer a snip. Tuffey will want to go on at least a loan deal - unless he is staying cos Ryan has plans to stand down. Lets just hope that Terry and Mo stay on but get psychological support - preferably from an expreienced practitioner who is at the point of early retirement from the NHS.

  25. Oh right, aye.... Could be a good move for the boy then, eh? It was a superb win for ICT today - not that anyone doubted for a moment that we would pull it off (oops) Do you think ICT will ever play Dundee again in the league in our lifetime, H/Dee?
