Well those of you who followed Caley or Thistle in the heady pre-merger days - would you ever have dared to dream that you would - one day - be standing in the away end at Dingwall, on the last day of the season, in the top division of Scottish football, with the prospect of European competion football the reward ? I suppose my only regret is that it is'nt Borough Briggs !!2 points

I read this as an article celebrating 20 years since inception. 20 years since a few people had the foresight to realise that an Inverness team could do what many other teams have failed to do even though they've been established for a hell of a lot longer. What I cant see is any reason why anyone would need to apologise for success.2 points

The troops managed approximately 15 miles after todays match, crossing the Kessock Bridge and tackling the beauly firth. Beer and bed for all as its out past Cannich to Glen Affric early doors tomorrow...2 points

Our Highland Marchers are preparing for their wee jaunt from Inverness to Mordor but it seems they've lost their maps and compass and are taking the (very) long route. Good luck to them all!1 point

How the hell are we sneaking in to Europe. We are the team in third place. St J are the ones who have to catch us.1 point

I'm paid to do my job not get hugs and high fives every time I do something right. Too much 'love' expected in football nowadays. Players and managers are paid to compete in games and bloodywell get on with it. I can't be doing with arranged laps of honour and the like. Crowd reaction should be spontaneous but it ain't going to happen when you fanny about in front of goal all through a game and get beat at home. In the pictures I saw of the lap after the Hearts game the crowd had gone home as well, as they were gutted at getting beat and wanted to get to the pub or home. These are the same fans who stumped up hundreds of thousands to keep their club alive so they can't be faulted and I think they had every right to feck off after a derby defeat. If the team wins next week they will see massive appreciation and it will be fully deserved. If they lose, then they will still get appreciation for the season they have put in. These arranged things are a pain - "don't run on the pitch or it'll be cancelled" etc. nonsense.1 point

Personally, if we didn't qualify for Europe, I would rather our friends from just up the road got the final place than St Johnstone.1 point

Interesting selection but not shure if Hogg is ready fer that kind of role. I have to concede that I have my concerns about OTJ on that pitch and his committment. That may push TB into such a selection.1 point

But do u really want them to beat us and get into Europe whilst we finish fifth? That would be the worst case scenario.. StJ or us for Europe, we really cant afford to let County get that spot, but I really dunno what to think about this :/1 point

The negativity in this thread is OTT. The players put in a massive shift yesterday. They were out on their feet at the end. We dominated most of the game. On another day we would have won by a comfortable margin. It was a bit of a freak result imo. Sometimes your luck just isn't in. At least it's still in our own hands and we have one of the most exciting spectacles ever to look forward to. A highland derby for europe.1 point

Late Goals Conceded/Late Substitutions August 4th - St Mirren (A) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Liam Polworth ON (87 minutes) - St Mirren equalise 90th October 27th - St Johnstone (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Gavin Morrison ON (89 minutes) - St Johnstone equalise 90th November 10th - Hearts (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Gavin Morrison ON (85 minutes) - Hearts equalise 90th December 15th - Dundee United (A) - Andrew Shinnie & Billy McKay OFF Polworth & Roberts ON (89 minutes) - DUFC equalise 90th February 13th - Kilmarnock (H) - Andrew Shinnie OFF Daniel Devine ON (85 minutes) & Aaron Doran OFF Shane Sutherland ON (89 minutes) - Kilmarnock equalise 90th May 11th - Dundee United (H) - Nick Ross OFF Shane Sutherland ON (87 minutes) - Dundee United win in the 90th. Going by that, these late substitution don't help matters. Bar the Hearts 1-1 draw and the 85th minute change in the Kilmarnock game, we've conceded five times this season having made late substitution in three minutes or less. I wonder if these late changes do more harm than good, unsettling the team going for the final home strait. On almost every occasion (Sutherland excluded) the change has been putting more inexperienced player on from the one that came off. Surely the evidence shows that this is unsettling and disrupting the flow of the team and contributing to conceding late goals and thus losing points.1 point

We've conceded four goals in injury time in the league this season. All were from winning positions and cost us a total of 8 points. The games were Dundee United (twice), Saint Mirren and Saint Johnstone. We also conceded goals against Kilmarnock and Saint Johnstone just before going into injury time. Again, these cost us two points as we were winning at the time so we've lost a total of 12 points this season by conceding goals in the 88th minute to FT. Remember Hearts at home? Cheers. Got my teams mixed up. Updated the original post.1 point

Its in our hands still. The movement was good but several times the players seemed a bit shot shy, always got the impression that it was Shinniesta who was going to create and score if we were to get anything. Not sure why Billy was taking the penalty - after last wk I wasnt convinced he was the right choice and was hoping Foran wa going to take control - he didnt seem phased by the keeper's games. Onto next wk - its going to be a different type of game, we wont be playing much of a passing game on that joke of a pitch. yet again a poor attendance though considering what was at stake and shame for the players so few stayed back. Its been an epic season and whether we get the Euro place or not I'm proud to say I'm an ICT fan this season for what we have achieved!!!1 point

Yes, a shame he didn't get a few minutes. But he must be chuffed, as I am, that his side got a thoroughly deserved victory in the FA Cup final. A true victory for the underdog, and keeps the 'romance' of cup competitions alive. I just hope Wigan can now pull off another miracle by winning their two last league matches and stay in the EPL, hopefully at the expense of Newcastle.1 point

You'll never have better chances to win a game than we had today and I'm scared we've blown our chance. Graeme Shinnie was my MOTM while I feel Pepper could have given us a bounce for Nick Ross as opposed to Sutherland, while Doran's final ball is often very poor. We never seem to rise to the occasion.1 point
-
What an absolute sickener that was. I don't think there is much to complain about in terms of the performance and effort levels - we created more than enough chances in the second half and we paid for our profligacy. If we'd decided to settle for the draw we'd probably have got it, but we pushed for the winner and got our fingers burned. It's a shame, but these things happen sometimes. Part of the problem is that we lack decent attacking options off the bench (no, Shane Sutherland is not a decent attacking option) and we don't have anyone who can come on and change the game when the attacking players are tired. I thought Graeme Shinnie and Josh Meekings were immense today. I know we lost the match, but I'm staggered that barely 200 people stayed behind for the lap of honour. We're third in the SPL, for goodness sake. That was our first home defeat to someone other than Celtic or Motherwell. The players deserved a damn sight better and I felt hugely sorry for them. Someone like Jones or Doran, yet to agree a new contract, must be wondering whether they shouldn't go somewhere where the fans would give them more credit. Some idiots in the main stand even booed at the final whistle. These guys need their heads examined, frankly. Next Sunday is not going to be very relaxing.1 point

I have to say if Pawlett is found guilty, he should be banned and fined with the rules immediately changed in Scotland so that in future, cheating to secure a material change to a game, results in points being awarded to the aggrieved party. That is the basic damages principle surely in Scot's Law? I have real sympathy with referees. They do not have eyes in the backs of their heads so often miss ''off the ball'' incidents. Equally, being at the wrong angle, can create a wrong impression. I really hope Pawlett is found guilty and then ideally be required by his employers - Aberdeen FC - to justify in public why he did what he did. Brown at Dundee was fully justified in my opinion of his criticism of the decision. If the compliance officer agrees that the referee was cheated alongside Dundee, then Brown could apologise to the referee and vice versa.1 point

What about Gary Harkins who is unlikely to stay at Dundee now they've been relegated ?1 point
-
What i cant abide is McInnes defending him. Pawlett has done this on multiple occasions and the only difference on this occasion is the consequences of his actions, it relegated a football club. I hope he gets a banned, fined and the next time someone halfs him i hope its ignored, his reputation will fall before him. This kind of behavior is ruining the game.1 point

Imagine what life might be like if Celtic were out too! It has boosted Scottish football. The Third Division will have benefited enormously. Charles Green having hoodwinked Craig Whyte, will have made a mint. Clever guy. The SPL has been really competitive as have the Cups. It forced Celtic to take the European Cup seriously and let some of the diddy Scottish teams beat them. We have to give credit to the decent Rangers supporters for their amazing loyalty. That is an example to all - are you ready Pars supporters?1 point
