Hard to type with rapped knuckles, I guess

We completely deserved the win today, but it should be noted that Forfar blazed several of the game's best chances over the bar. Our defence actually looked pretty good but there wasn't much attacking prowess on display, and my first impressions are that neither Oakley nor Baird look like they will score many goals (but more than Shoeshine will) and as a partnership there wasn't much going on at all. First half we were playing into the wind, but resorting to long balls up the park. Attacks usually went up the left flank with Calder, who looked dangerous......until the final ball or shot. Polworth failed to convert a penalty that was softly awarded and softly struck. Vigurs played a couple of smart through balls, but that was about it from us. Second half, the game really opened up, and we moved the ball around much more quickly on the deck.We went behind when Ridgers parried a powerful shot which was nodded in at the far post by the player who reacted first. Equaliser came when Baird couldn't latch on to a long ball at the edge of the box but the oncoming keeper could only block the ball into the path of Oakley who slotted home. A minute later a corner was met by the unmarked Baird at the far post, who had time to take touch and fire home. The only aspect of the game that I might remember in a few days time is the impressive and entertaining performance by Mulraney when he came on, beating players for fun. It's a long time since we've had a winger who was a joy to watch and I hope he can perform like that against Championship sides cos if he does he'll be a star player for us. Overall, though, I didn't think we look like a team that will be competing for promotion. Improvement is needed, with more fluidity and cohesion, but it is still very early days for this new team.

You'd think something more along the lines of "those involved within our media and communications team have been reminded of their responsibilities and that the family image of the club is something we take very seriously, we would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any offence caused, blah blah blah " That's if they were to say anything at all, and even then they only really should do so if the print press were to raise the issue. There's one thing being proactive and stubbing the fire out before it takes hold, and another jumping the gun altogether.

We are lucky that the Highland League clubs have twitter accounts to keep us informed of what is happening at our club.

I am with @Renegade on this one ... We are Caley Thistle and its a name to be proud of. We should never forget our roots and our name embraces those roots but it also identifies us globally with something that sounds iconically Scottish. A little anecdote from this past weekend to illustrate .... Friends - and ICT season ticket holders - who were visiting relatives in a town reasonably close to Toronto for the last few weeks contacted me and asked if I could get them tickets for the Toronto FC game last Saturday. I was able to grab a few and on the day we met up to go to the game. Their son was proudly wearing the new ICT strip from this season and both during and after the game he was approached by people who instantly recognised the strip and started talking about Caley Thistle ...... I think he was quite chuffed to see a few people recognised the strip and I have to say I was also a little surprised as most folk initially think its some kind of weird Barcelona top until they get close and ask who it is or see the badge. On a personal level I dont care if anyone prefers to calls us ICT, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Caley, Jags, CaleyJags, Inverness or any other nickname they want ... but we are Caley Thistle and that should never change.

We are Caley Thistle. It's who we are and who we've been for nearly a quarter of a century and if there was ever a time to change that it should've been in 1994 - it didn't and we've been moved on. Any belief that there's still a Caley/Thistle divide in our support is nonsense and I really wish we'd stop this obsession with a few dozen bitter refuseniks many of whom who we're probably better off without anyway. A name change now will probably never happened and I for one am glad of that.

I wrote to our new Chaiman/CEO last week about this but, so far, he has (chosen?) not to reply.We can only live in hope. Perhaps if you, together with all other overseas viewers who are really interested in these home videos, wrote to him also it would help to persuade him and/or the Board that this service is very meaningful to overseas wallahs like us and encourage them to finally decide to continue the service. His email address can be obtained by writing to the club's contact lady. And I advised him that I would not be against a small raise in the fee required by us overseas fans to access the videos. We'll worth it, IMHO, since Don has done an outstanding job putting it all together which does exceed expectations. To see all his work go down the tube is both an astonishing and a totally bizarre thought.It would also be a real downer for all us overseas fans who have kept in touch and followed the club's progress over these many years.

That's good to hear. I really hope he excels himself this season and shows he can become our next class home grown player.

Today against Forfar Polworth was the best player on the pitch.

Agree with everything said in the above match report (cut down to save space). A few other things of note... When we play with Polworth as a RM it means we eliminate one side of the attack. Nothing came from that side in the first half, not helped by Raven being reluctant to get forward. Only in the second half when Raven pushed on and Polworth came inside did we get any threat from that side. Polworth' penalty was honking. Chalmers at LB was poor. He was skinned a few times by their podgy winger and didn't make much of an effort to block crosses. Calder did well running at his man, but much like Mulraney he has no end product. He also doesn't communicate at all on the pitch which demonstrates a niavety/rawness that could hold him back. My first impression of Susan is that he'll be punted by Xmas, following months of barren performances. Even watching him warm up was painful - poor first touch, limited pace and no strength despite his size. Draper seems to be playing with the handbrake on. It was noticeable that he was easily able to shift up the gears once we'd gone 1-0 down, where he drove with the ball effectively. Vigurs actually played not too bad in my opinion. All his passes went forward and he created several decent chances. The abuse is getting to him it seems though... where he issued a hand gesture "enjoyed by the ICT Twitter account" to some pre-teens who told him to GTF after a woeful shot at goal straight from ko at 1-0. Our CBs both did well I thought, especially Brad McKay. It was noticeable that he was limping throughout the second half, so hopefully he'll be fit for next weekend.

He never played against Montserrat.

Groin injuries in particular are notorious for being hard to diagnose. Remember than in that 18 months he was only at ICT for 6 Months and Wigan/Dundee United for the rest. Whilst we have had a rotten 2 years now with injury, the season before, when we reached Europe and won the cup we hardly had any major injuries. As far as I'm aware there haven't been any major changes within our medical team since then. In Billys case it may have been the RC Dr has good knowledge of groins..... and was able to spot the issue. Sometimes diagnosis can be a little luck. It's not an exact science.

Feck all of that. I'd put most of it in an off-shore account in the Caman Islands and move there myself.

Just because they think it's been identified the real proof will be in the coming months, while Billy may make positive noises it could just be another false dawn for him but for now he's spinning the positive media lines.

This isn't about playing our best available side, it is about trying to determine what our best side will be against Dundee Utd. Last week Robbo was hugely displeased with the attitude of some of the players who he sees as the better players. This could be a match in which they are challenged to perform in if they want to start in the league match. It was good to hear his comments about the attitude of the youngsters who played in the Clach game and I guess he will be far more inclined to give the youngsters a chance than either Hughes or Foran were. He might give a couple of youngsters some game time. The chances of us progressing to the knock out stage is remote and so it doesn't really matter whether we win this game or not. I would therefore not be surprised if two or three of Robbos first picks started on the bench with others being given the chance to impress.

oh dear. @ictchris has it about right. remove the material, say nothing and tell whoever was using the account at the time to never do it again. move on. nothing to see here. storm in a teacup. Instead, we get this long winded statement drawing attention to something that was probably noticed by at most a handful of people, a second paragraph that sounds like a complete over reaction, and a third paragraph that seems to have swallowed a thesaurus and in some parts of it actually makes no sense in the english language. We complain when the club say nothing ... but this is one occasion where they should have done exactly that.

Polworth on his A-game is a Premier League top 6 player. He's one of the best passers and finishers at the club. I don't think he was well suited to the disorganized kick and rush playing style favoured by our previous manager. Put him in a team set up to play possession football with movement and options around him and he'll do a job for you. Same goes for Vigurs IMO.
