  1. It's absolutely imperative we keep Draper. Absolutely no way we'll be promoted if he's sold as I can't see us being able to sign anyone half as good. No doubt the money will just be squandered as well.

  2. Mulraney shout if that's the one where he cut back inside looked like he slipped as he transferred the ball in behind his feet. No penalty for me.

  3. Does anyone still think Raven will definetly be going? He played ok yesterday, solid enough display. Personally, I'm not sure we shoukd be looking to shift him

  5. Very commendable Scarlet, however the defense only have to have one wee mistake, or be the victim of a shyte decision ( as in Thompson yesterday) and if we have players who are not good enough to score in this league then we on a slippery slope no matter how good our defense is. To win we need goals. Anyway, just saw the goal (pen) from yesterday, by god humfback McMullan certainly fooled Thompson ( which is not difficult i may add) He has got to be one of the most infuriating ref's there is in Scotland. Dee utd were pretty cynical , I don't Like them or their fans, some of whom had a mini riot in the Raigmore before the game, Robbo will have to sort out the goal scoring problem soon.

  6. It was reported in the inverness courier on 28th July that 'Robertson had stated that they needed to shift two players to free wages but yesterday he confirmed this would not now be necessary due to the board's generosity'. So I hope this rings true and we can hold on to Raven and Draper. We need their experience to gel this new squad together.

  7. If true that says a great deal about the ambition, or lack of it, of the current regime. Content now to linger in the Championships rather than seriously contend for promotion. That said, I am hoping that this is merely another unfounded rumour.

  8. I thought that there was much to be positive about. The performance, by and large was much better than we witnessed in most of the Betfred Cup group stage matches and Vigurs had one of his best and most positive performances for the club. Don't forget this was against the best resourced club in the division and firm favourites for the title. We had the bulk of possession and played the better football almost from start to finish but, as others have said, need more penetration in the final third but the forwards are new to the club and new to each other so hopefully that will develop and improve in the coming weeks. There is no doubt that we need more width and there is equally no doubt that Polworth is not the player to provide that width. He has the potential to be a strong positive for the team when played in his proper position but is frankly a liability when not. I am sure, however, that Robbo can't fail to see that and this experiment will not last long. Finally, if that is going to be the standard of refereeing we are going to be seeing this season then god help us.

  9. Disappointing to lose but I think we can take a good few positives from that. I thought there was real effort and determination in the team. 2 standout performances and sufficient from others to show the potential that exists. Bear in mind that this is largely a new team and we were missing several players from the starting line up who would be first choice. The stand outs were Vigurs (again) and Calder. Vigurs was immense in the first half and kept us in the game at 1-0 when he tracked back and made a perfectly timed tackle when McMullen, I think it was, was through on goal. He faded a bit in the 2nd half but few seeing him today can seriously doubt what an important player he will be for us this season. His corners, though were generally poor - they need more pace rather than being floated in. Calder was also excellent. His control in taking some drilled long passes was terrific and he seemed to mix it up pretty well between running with the ball and crossing it - some of his crosses were pretty decent too. I said earlier that he looked promising but lacked confidence. He seemed to play with more confidence today and I would think this performance will give him the confidence to believe he can do very well at this level. Unfortunately Calder's game ended prematurely following an incident with Toshney. I'll be interested to see if the club says anything about this, but to me it looked as though Toshney put his hand into Calder's face with perhaps a finger in the eye. Toshney then went to ground clutching his head as though it was a clash of heads. What did the referee think? F**k knows! He was well placed to see the incident but despite the two of them lying on the ground, Calder clearly in distress and Toshney holding his head; from 5 yards away he glances down at them, waves play on and runs off after the play. Unbelievable! Had he seen it as I did then he should have blown for a foul and given Toshney a straight red. If he didn't see it like that then it was an accidental clash of heads and he should have stopped the play immediately to get treatment for the potentially concussed players. The referee was late stopping play then but stopped play on a number of occasions when a Dundee Utd player went to ground having been fairly tackled. Throughout the game he let both Toshney and Scobbie constantly foul the players they were marking and engage in blatant holding. Meanwhile he managed to book no less than 5 of our players for rather more trivial offences. He was quite the most inept and one sided referee I have seen for a very long time. We have a small squad and these bookings will be costly when suspensions inevitably kick in. I was also pretty disgusted by Dundee Utd. The amount of gamesmanship, play acting and downright cheating was also as bad as I have seen for a long time. They seemed to have no ambition to play football and having gone into an undeserved lead did anything they could to try and stop us playing. The only good thing about utd today was their fans who came in large numbers to support their team. No doubt they are happy with the win but hopefully not in the manner of achieving it. It could all have been different had we scored. That would have brought Utd out more and created a bit more space to exploit. Despite our superiority in midfield, we could not find the cutting edge to create decent chances or to finish any half chances we had. That is a worry. Today was the first time I have seen Bell and he looked the most likely to be able to nick a goal or two. I'd like to see him get a bit more game time because I can't see Baird scoring many. We really need to find our way to goal or else we will continue to lose games which our general play should see us winning.

  10. Dont know how DU got away with the play acting and conned Thomson into stopping play every time we had a break on. Ref was terrible.

  11. Well... My thoughts are..... Too many players not performing - or not good enough! Polworth was dire, Draper did not play well, Chalmers is a feckin donkey. Baird & Oakley will really struggle to score against the big teams in this league. I think we played ok, quite a few positives, Calder looks a fine player, Vigurs was very effective and even covered a dangerous break in the first half and made an excellent block, But as usual the final third let's us down, a lack of composure and poor final pass let some good moves fall apart, Don't know how many times the Arab keeper just plucked the ball out of the air. Once we sort out the defence a bit, and get Chalmers away to feck, Get Baird and co working together we might put in a challenge...... but i'm not holding mt breath!

  12. Plus points - Vigurs had one of the best games he's had in months. Calder had a cracker until he came off. Raven put in a solid display. The majority of possession and some good passages of play. Negative points - We've signed an absolute dud in Joe Chalmers. Ridgers' kicking is appalling. The poorest I've seen from an ICT keeper since Zibi Malkowski. Polworth is simply not a winger. He looked far better in the second half when he was sitting narrower. None of our four strikers look like finishers. Our crossing and especially corners were atrocious. Every single one was to the back post and thus straight at the keeper.

  13. Better team by far just lacking a cutting edge. Some good performances Vigurs was a class above the rest with Calder running him a close second, was outstanding in first half and is far suited playing further forward. Dundee Utd terrible gamesmanship or cheating which ever way you want to call it with that wee fraudster Billy King the worst culprit. Could not believe how many times the flow of the game was halted due them lying pole axed .

  14. Felt we bossed the game and on another day (with another ref) things might have gone better. Just can't see how united got that early penalty and the linesman calling the ref over to send Robbo off was way OTT 10 mins into new season. Vigurs awarded a well deserved MoM. Mark Ridgers is needing to practice his kicking this coming week.

  15. Well that went swimmingly! Looks like it's going to be a long season. Plenty of the ball but no threat to united keeper all afternoon. Must be said the officiating beggared belief...... absolutely diabolical.

  16. I agree. This appointment lacks imagination and is a wasted opportunity. Danny MacDonald is a football man who has had mixed success previously at the club. The fact is that, the last couple of seasons apart, we have been pretty good at the football side of things given our resources and, in the likes of Robbo, Charlie Christie and Brian Rice, there are a number at the club with a footballing background, football connections and football knowledge. Where we have been very very poor ever since entering the league is on the marketing and commercial side whether that be in selling tickets and enthusing and engaging the Inverness public or in shifting merchandise and raising the profile of the club in a manner that generates income. There was an opportunity in creating the new post of general manager to bring in a fresh face with fresh ideas from a marketing and commercial background and try something new. Instead we appoint a familiar face who brings nothing new to the club. Very disappointing but not in the least surprising.

  17. You would have to win it multiple times to even put Neymar into the conversation ! Yup, that was what I was thinking too .... Provide manager with a healthy sum to make a challenge to get us back into the premiership Pave car park Provide a walkway/tunnel under A9 so no more live action "frogger" on the main road Use one corner of stadium for Club Shop ... or move offices into the corner and use the current office area as shop. Look to see what could be done in other three corners in terms of revenue generating business or offices. Look to see what providing a 4th stand would cost. This stand would be low level (due to gas line) and fitted with the safe standing area style of seats so it could be terracing when allowed. General spruce up all round. Paint some of the faded coloring back to what it was etc. If there is anything left, subsidise season tickets for fans for a few years and also the travel club so we can build our fanbase at home and also on the road.

  18. Havent a clue re first bit but Robbo is on record as saying if hes still here at end of July hes staying? As for the team I think its wayyyy too early for any predictions. As so many have come in we have to give it time to gel. Last time we got relegated it took time to adjust and Im anticipating the same this time. Tbh my hopes are for a top 4 place to get us in playoffs and anything more will be a bonus.

  19. Yip I have bought a ticket to. I would be happy to incorporate letters from both the previous clubs when I change the name. I will take the CALEDONIAN from Caledonian and had an F for Fistle and a C for *****. We still have fights on the train when the old Caley/Thistle rivalry erupts. Hundreds of refuseniks will love me for this.

  21. We are Caley Thistle. It's who we are and who we've been for nearly a quarter of a century and if there was ever a time to change that it should've been in 1994 - it didn't and we've been moved on. Any belief that there's still a Caley/Thistle divide in our support is nonsense and I really wish we'd stop this obsession with a few dozen bitter refuseniks many of whom who we're probably better off without anyway. A name change now will probably never happened and I for one am glad of that.

  22. You're right RE the importance of getting recruitment right with our current predicament, but I'm confident Robbo has the contacts to bring players in. He's an extremely well know, well respected figure in Scottish football. I think he'll have the power of persuasion needed to convince players to make the move North. Also, I don't think any of the managers being tipped to get the managers job (bar Butcher) have previously built their own squad or have the sort of contacts Robbo does.

  24. Depends what your definition of huge salary is? If it is £1500 (or around that figure) that he is getting paid, with all the talk of people being laid off in the wake of our relegation, then yes, out the door. I'm sure OFW weekly wage is more than some people at the clubs monthly wage. It probably is more than what 95% of folk get paid in Inverness in any other line of work. Footballers wages are completely out of control. Average guys like this, floating around small clubs potentially hoovering up close to £100000 a year. Ridiculous. plus all his money from his painting! (Joke btw)

  25. No rules on that, but there are rules preventing him leaving the pitch without permission in order to tend to a call-out.

  28. In my days the only place that you would see a number of Arabs in Raigmore would have been A&E. Plus in my experience SP the only comparison at half time is that you can be ejected at half time.

  29. Doofer is no duffer ! ! Sounds as if the whole Scottish referee fraternity has a desire to penalise ICT at every opportunity and that for a long period of time now. This means that there may be doubt about their motives and/or have been brainwashed or instructed by the upper level of beaks who run the Scottish football fraternity that Caley Thistle are still the upstart team that can beat the likes of their darlings, Celtic and Rangers, and should not be allowed to progress fairly. Especially when they should still be back in the lower leagues, don't you know, and preferably the Highland League, where their independent spirit can languish without being allowed to show us all up. If you access this link then you will very quickly see what I mean --hardly ever a mention of ICT now or even in the past but for Celtic and Rangers there is not enough paper to print the goings on at celtic Park or Ibrox. So sickening isn't it?.......................... http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/scottish-premiership Last season I was shocked by the constant whistle blowing against our team --I saw this plain as a pikestaff in the live videos of the games that we overseas viewers were allowed to view. We are either "outsiders" or playing "above our station", like. A pox on their houses....these parochial twats. Show them on the park who really are, lads.

  30. Hi, I'm new to the forum, just joined, and have been a season ticket holder for several seasons. Until a few years ago I used to work on Saturdays so i could only see the occasional game, but I was an Inverness Thistle supporter, home and away since 1970. As regards the name, I just recall a letter that someone had sent to the courier suggesting taking the CA from caley and the STLE from thistle and calling the team Inverness Castle fc. I thought that it was quite a good idea at the time.

    • Aaron Doran - Club Legend
Shameful: Thanks to Shane Sutherland, the generosity of friends, fans, former colleagues and opponents, Aaron has now had his operation. However it has emerged that he had posted on Instagram regarding his sad dismissal and treatment from the Board of Inverness CT who have treated Aaron in a similar way to which they have been treating the fans. Let's not forget that Aaron was due to have a testimonial for his service to the club.

Administration pending, unless... How can we go from SupercaleygoballisticCelticareatrocious in the year 2000, to Scottish Cup Winners in 2015, playing in Europe and just 9 years after lifting the Cup; Administration. Mismanagement and our demise was hastened by the appointment of Scot Gardiner. Ever since then, ludicrous decision making has seen our stock plummet whilst 'shady' dealings were investigated. The failed Concert Company, the Battery Storage, the Statkraft contract have all ended badly leaving the club facing insolvency.

That's another fine mess you've got us into.

      Chairman Ross Morrison resigns

Nothing official from the club as we speak, but the Inverness Courier are running with a story that Ross Morrison has resigned at 18:00 tonight 3rd June.  More to come as this story develops, but most fans are looking for more heads to roll.

Speaking exclusively to The Inverness Courier, Mr Morrison said he is leaving now because of the aftermath of the Fife move. “I believe it [the move to Fife] is the best way forward and I have to stick with my beliefs,” Mr Morrison said. “This is the reason I'm stepping down now.”

Reflecting on his time with the Caley Thistle, Mr Morrison said: “My six-year tenure with the club has had some great and some not so great times but through everything I was immensely proud to be the chairman of the club and clubs I’ve supported for 50 years - I was a Jaggie by the way.

“I would ask the fans to rally round the club at this time and show their support by not only purchasing their season tickets but also getting involved directly with the club to see how they can help.

“Hearing fans saying they would prefer administration to training the first team in Kelty sent a shiver down my spine. Administration is a desperate thing to happen to a club and must, at all cost, not happen to ICTFC.”
