  1. I have to say, I rather enjoyed the game. The wind was a major factor and it was quite amusing seeing how completely inept Livi were in coping with it. They never seemed to quite understand that a 40mph wind would blow the ball off course. I think it was 3 times their keeper kicked the ball straight out for a throw in. Remarkably, Douglas Ross actually awarded the throw in to us on each occasion! We certainly coped with the conditions better but it was the commitment of the entire team which so impressed. Livi were chased and harried when they got the ball, and as a result were rarely able to impose themselves on the game. Nobody had a poor game but Welsh, Carson and Trafford were all excellent in midfield. Also a mention to Mckay and McHattie who did a great job in central defence following the departure of the established 1st choice pairing. We have these excellent team performances from time to time and one just wishes that this level of commitment was shown on a more regular basis. A very disappointing crowd but great to see some of the young lads back and making a bit of very welcome noise!
  2. Change the record, or find the proper thread for bumming JH.
  3. Hughes managed the team when we were in the top tier during his entire tenure so he was always about 1 or 2 wins away from reaching the Quarter Finals most seasons compared to Paterson who had no negotiate many more games to reach the same round.
  4. ICT highlights up now:
  5. When you think about some of our fans they remind me of Charlton under Curbishly had a style much the same as yogis possession football finished every season top 10 in the prem sections of the fans turned on him got bagged didn't realise till it was to late the impact he'd had on the club before u no it they've lost there style and identity plummet down the divisions playing route 1 football ! Definitely similiar to what's happened wit her us since Yogi left he was a huge presence around our club
  6. Well deserved win as others have said. I was really surprised at how one dimensional Livingston were, there only tactics appeared to be to put the ball into the box and try and score like that. The football that was played was all by us in quite horrendous conditions. Quite common to have a poor referee but all 3 officials were incredibly poor today. From linesmen who couldn't get throw ins correct, or offsides on occasions and then waving only for fouls for Livingston to a ref who was happy to see fouls committed by us then turn a blind eye to similar ones committed by Livingston was very very poor. That he is allegedly one of our top referees beggars belief.
  7. Our usual 2 minutes from the Beeb. Lets get to the Final and show them what we can do in 90 mins.
  8. Disappointing how little the BBC have shown on Sportscene, but what a free kick from Welsh!
  9. I wasn't convinced about this from a "practicality" perspective...i.e. it can seem like there's already more than enough time taken up doing the announcements in English during the short spell between fans arriving in the ground and kick-off without having to do them all twice...however, having been ably assisted by a young man named Daniel from the IRA yesterday, I'm of a mind that it brings nothing negative to the task whatsoever. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed showing someone what's involved with being a matchday announcer, he really seemed to enjoy it and deserves huge kudos as it can be quite nerve racking to speak publicly (even when hidden away in a box). I don't think it's necessarily going to bring more people through the gate, but if it helps foster a friendship with even a small part of the community and get the club a little publicity then I don't see the harm. There is little doubt that the club have a lot of work to do when it comes to engaging with the wider fanbase/community, however we should try and encourage the club to do more to engage with more people...and not to do less just because what's being done doesn't involve us.
  10. Is there already a thread for that or will I need to start 1 up ?
  11. I see us and Dundee Utd as the big dogs in the league my man no point following a team if u don't expect them to win most games I'm old school highland league fan I'm used to success lol
  12. Zero chance my man stay of the acid!
  13. Another stat showing Yogi as by far and away our best ever manager! Robbos no bad in the cup but need him to do something in the league cup runs are fine and dandy but do t wanna be seen as plucky underdogs wanna be top dogs again in the big league!
  14. Let no one underestimate how well the team played and how determined they were as a group to progress. What chance we draw Rangers at home, lose to their Colts next Sunday and create another bit of history against their first team? Certainly a home draw at about 16.00 hours today will at least give us a better chance of making the Semi's again although Celtic at home would not be my first choice. I would like Ross County.....hang on a fricking minute...........
  15. What a result! Thought it was pretty even throughout the whole game with both teams having to clear of the line. The wind played a huge part and It played to our advantage in the 2nd half most notably the failed clearance that led to to our goal. It was a tough gritty performance from the team & it proved that not only can we win ugly but we can do it against top sides. Trafford Carson & Welsh were great in the midfield big standout in the team for me.
  16. That was wonderful. A really mature, controlled, performance and actual singing in the north stand. I'm reflecting on 30 years of watching Caley/ICT in the Cup. We basically own this competition.
  17. When White was lying on the pitch after a foul in the first half the guy behind me said "Gregor will be worried"
  18. 35 years ago today Inverness Thistle beat Kilmarnock 3-0 in the Scottish Cup at Kingsmills. There were 2500 in attendance that day ... compared to less than 2000 for Livingston yesterday. Disappointing. Unfathomable. The heights of recent years almost seem a rod for the backs of the current team where the disappointment of relegation has led to apathy and disillusionment. Invernessians have forgotten where we've come from ... where the excitement of any "big" (I.e. league) league team to Kingsmills or Telford Street would draw a larger crowd than any crowd that ICT has had at home this season.
  19. There's a big opportunity to garner a bit of favour in the Outer Hebrides where they all support either Rangers or Celtic (dependant on which Hebride - no imagination!) with just a token nod to the nearest "local" team, whether it be us or County. No harm in giving us the edge by showing a recognition of Gaelic, which is still widely spoken across the Minch.
  20. I would fancy us against them at home. Playing away will be tough and we’ve an away league game that midweek too. A repeat of yesterday would do nicely!
  21. Alloa were the form team in the league when when we played them. You just proves my point. Expectation levels of fans ?
  22. Think the commitment is always there, just not appreciated by the crowd as they think we should be beating the likes of Alloa and Arbroath. But when we play a team from a higher division then the expectation levels are not as high from the fans re the result. The result always clouds the judgement of most fans and can lead to judgments on the commitment of the players.
  23. Swear Robbo has some magic powers when it comes to the Scottish Cup. Back to back Semis in 2003 and 2004. And again in 2019 and (here's hoping I don't jinx it) 2020. He's been with the club over 4 and a bit seasons, and has shown he's one of the most consistent of the lot. Pele only managed the Quarters in 1 of 7 Seasons. Charlie did it in his one and only season. Terry managed the Quarters in 2 of 5. Yogi is the only one who's managed to do a clean sweep with 3 Quarter Finals in 3 seasons. Sergei, Brewster and Foran never have. Robbo definitely knows his way around in the cup...
  24. Great result from the boys today a winnable home tie would be good but if not that away to one of the Glasgow mob
  25. Outside the ugly sisters, in percentage terms that must match most teams. Says a lot for what we’ve achieved in our short existence. Barring a miracle by BSC Glasgow or Clyde, we will be the only non top flight team in the last 8. I must admit, whilst our finances are not good, I’m hoping for a winnable home draw and, perhaps, another trip to Hampden.
  26. That performance and result today should also give the team huge confidence for the play-off game against the 2nd bottom premier club should we make it that far.
  27. Sadly, it's not just the football pitch where he is clueless and not at the football where he does most harm
  28. There was only one team playing good footie out there and that was us. Well done guys.
  29. Again, during 2019, I kept my spreadsheets of ex ICT goal scorers going (perhaps not quite as carefully as I once did!). Nevertheless, I found 74 scores achieving 450 goals amongst them. The stand out clearly is Nat Austin who scored 40 in 25 games in 5 months, for Kelty Hearts. Amazing, even at that level. Here is my list :- 40 goals N Austin (Kelty Hearts) 28 " A MacRae ( 17, Forres : 11, Brora R) 24 " S Sutherland (22, Elgin : 2, Peterhead) 22 " S Boden (19, Chesterfield : 3, Gateshead) 21 " R Christie ( 20, Celtic : 1, Scotland) 20 " S Soane ( Forres) 19 " L Doumbouya (Trat ) 15 " D Gillespie ( Brora R) 13 " G Wood ( Formantine) 12 " T Agdestein ( Aalesund), A Sutherland ( Rothes), D Ebbe ( TNS) 11 " A Rooney ( Salford), A MacAskill ( Buckie) 10 " J Baird ( 9, Forfar : 1 Raith), P Roberts ( 8, Dartford : 2 Hayes) 09 " R McAllister (Peterhead), T Sho-Silva ( 5, Halifax : 3, Margate) 08 " Z Elbouzedi ( 6, Waterford : 2, Ireland U21), B Mckay (Ross Co), G Oakley ( Hamilton), F Morais ( 5, Crawley : 3, Oldham) 06 " A MacDonald ( Brora R), H Anier ( 5, Suwon FC : 1, Estonia) 05 " C Allen ( Glentoran), B Greenhalgh ( Dartford), C Dingwall ( 4, Inverurie : 1, Formantine) D Park ( 4, Cove : 1, Formantine), A Greig ( Formantine) 04 " A Fisher ( 3, Exeter : 1, Yeovil), C Bell ( 3, Preston Lions : 1, South Shields), G Morrison ( Brora R) 03 " J Roberts ( Ipswich), I Sekajja ( 2, Gosport : 1, Maidenhead), J Chalmers ( Ross Co), M Finnis ( Clach) J Wilson ( Rothes), A Evans ( Longford ), J Oswell ( Wrexham), G Shinnie ( 2, Aberdeen : 1, Derby) 02 " N Ross ( El Paso Loco), D Proctor ( E. Happy New Year
  30. Away to Hibs BOLLLACKS!
  31. Yogi may have presided over the Cup triumph but was also responsible for the start of our long decline and then went on to get Raith Rovers relegated from which they are only starting to recover. His ability as a manager is such that nobody has been prepared to touch him since.
  32. Haha are u on drugs my man the decline was absolutely nothing to do with Yogi all to do with the board and there insane appointment and cheapskate ways Yogi left us a solid SPL side despite having an injury ravaged season the core of the cup winning squad leave on frees and almost no budget to replace them Raith were almost doomed before he came! The board stuck by Foran despite him loosing the dressing room and then the following board appointed Robbo decent manager but come on hadn't managed in near a decade had no relevant contacts didn't no what players were available no contacts for decent loan players and to top it of didn't even apply that resulted in us spending most of the season in the relegation zone when really we should've been winning that league with a manager who knew the lay of the land I reckon we would've wer Caley not Alloa the eternal underdogs
