  1. Just in case you didn't see it in the other thread. Dear Mr Cameron. I feel your statement regarding newco Rangers admittance to Division Three was badly timed, poorly worded and a PR disaster for our club. You listened to the voices of the supporters of the club who opted for sporting integrity and voted against newco’s admittance to the SPL. I feel that your words today have given many fans the impression that you did this on the basis of a sleazy plan to bully SFL clubs into admitting a newco into SFL 1 to preserve a model of football in this country that is now unsustainable or that you had expected SFL clubs to ignore their fans and the principles you claimed to follow with your initial decision. Need I remind you that two seasons ago ICT were an SFL club and we may be in the same position again in the future. The thought of our club having any part in any sort of bullying tactics would be unforgivable in my opinion. While most fans appreciate that there will be certain financial tests over the coming seasons, many people feel “the end of Scottish football as we know it” is not necessarily a bad thing. Personally I would much rather see ICT operate at a lower level as a sustainable club than have the club be a leech and rely on another club being in the same league or indeed money from television companies. I have the upmost confidence that this can be addressed and I urge yourself and the board to share any issues with the supporters. If anything has come from this whole shameful Rangers episode it’s that the fans can be a powerful force in football. ICT has a loyal support and I very much hope you will adopt a transparent approach in what could be a difficult time. Please do not misconstrue this email as a series of accusations against the club or indeed yourself. I am just concerned given that I renewed my season ticket after your statement of intent regarding the newco/SPL vote and I am now unsure of the intentions and direction of the club. We have a chance to change things for the good and make it easier for a club such as ourselves to survive and prosper. The last thing we need is an unhelpful, pointless and ultimately detrimental comment from the club like the statement this afternoon. I would welcome a public response to the fans from yourself to address any of the comments raised in this or any other email you receive tonight or indeed a personal, private one via this email address. Yours sincerely James Proctor

  2. I've heard today from a usually reliable source that ICT's disappointment with the SFL decision was all to do with the rejection of the league restructuring proposals (expanded SPL, play offs, fairer distribution of income etc) and most definitely NOT because of what league Rangers were put in. When you actually read the statement with that in mind it makes a lot more sense and seems to stack up. Hopefully we'll get some further clarification after the emergency board meeting. I'm also quite reassured to see that we had a trialist at Elgin today, which we surely wouldn't have done if we are on the brink of financial meltdown.

  3. Wow - I have to concede that I am totally fed up reading about all this Rangers crap BUT this must clearly show to the Muppets (and they really are feckin muppets at the moments) that the fan base are mainly furious at this embarrassing statement. In my opinion it needs to be read several times with an "open mind" and it then comes across as being wholly open to different interpretations and is sadly "amateur" in its content. I am one who has been shouting from the rooftops about communication from the club and it has been significantly improved this pre season - albeit in line with the Newco fears. But it is one thing to post information / comments about new signings and football related issues but any political statements should really have been proofread by somebody with a PR background (I would have advised saying feck all at this junction, holding the Board Meeting and then making a positive statement). Lets have a wee exercise and break this muppetry into sections INVERNESS Caledonian Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron says the decision to place the 'Newco' Rangers into the third division next season could "spell the end of football as we know it." - that is the most ridiculous opening statement as it immediately makes the hairs on the back of yer neck stand up, It simply broods the expectation of negativity. Scottish Football League clubs met at Hampden Park this morning to come to a decision on where Charles Green's newco Ibrox club would play, and 25 of the 30 clubs voted the club into the bottom tier. Cameron has said the club's directors are set for an emergency meeting this weekend to discuss the financial implications of the decision. What was needed to be said was that the board were meeting to review the overall effect on the club and to look at short term and long term action planning. The word "emergency" again is muppetry. In a statement, Mr Cameron said today was saddening for Scottish clubs, and that no club would escape the consequences. Again that has all been said and does NOT need to be repeated. Kenny may not have actually used the word "saddened" but that is the word that will evoke emotions and appear to be owned by our Board, The statement, in full, reads as follows: "There will now inevitably be serious consequences for the game in Scotland. Again WE ALL FECKIN KNOW THAT !! "We have all, as clubs, accepted the views of our stakeholders in making the initial judgement to uphold sporting integrity. Great and add that we as a Board fully supported that decision and will continue to work with the fans to get us through these difficult times. "All clubs will now have to live with the repercussions of this decision. Scottish football was at a crossroads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward. "But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision. This is a sad day for all clubs in Scotland." Absolutely shocking - it is a clip from media crap not a feckin statement from ICT - it has been copied and feckin pasted. Smacks of total negativity and a sense that ICT fully agree with th enclosed statements. It could be construed as an "attack" on the SFL. Mr Cameron added: "None of us will escape the financial fallout from this. There was an opportunity on the table, in terms of the joint agreement tabled at today’s meeting for us all to come together and a genuine willingness to improve the game substantially over the coming years. More media crap and a perceived attack on the SFL -!! "But it now looks as though this will once again be kicked back in to the long grass. A once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward change may well have been lost. Total negativity. "The directors of ICTFC are fully aware of the financial implications of this latest decision on Newco. The loss of either our fans or our sponsors was never going to leave any of the clubs in Scotland in a healthy financial position and for some this could spell the end of football as we know it. If the Board are "fully aware" then just be positive and get on with Plan A, B or feckin C. "Certain clubs in the SFL have perceived the financial information they were receiving as a 'big stick' to beat them into accepting Newco in the First Division. This was definitely not the case, as far as I am concerned. What they were being told was the reality of the situation." By far the worst sentence of the lot IMHO and then he heaps pressure on himself with the use of the "I" word followed by a "they" statement. The chairman concluded: "We will be convening an emergency board meeting over the weekend to discuss the very serious financial implications for us as a club going forward." Just look at the usage of the words "emergency" and "serious". And I am afraid that the damage has been well and truly done and this is a statement that will be thrown back in our faces for a long time and one that we cant rubbish or heal with the greatest of apologetic "get outs". My only concern is that we step in the dog poo again with the follow up statement.

  4. Not if everyone go running to Clach there won't eh? I can't be the only one who is really getting sick of all this newco pish, yes there's moral high ground to be lost and gained but FFS I just wanna watch some footie. I'm sure in 20 years time people can tell their kids about a team that used to exist called ICT which had 'sporting integrity' coming out of every orifice but sadly do not exist as it had no cash to even turn on the lights.

  5. After some reflection and conversations in and around Borough Briggs today, I too am happy that Kennys statement was referring to the reconstruction proposals (I believe the ones posted by St Mirren). As a matter of fact, I did not even realise there was anything on the table that would allow reconstruction and The Rangers in Division 3. I have no idea why they were rejected as it still allowed The Rangers into Division 3 and not Division 1. So, I can see why Kenny Cameron is disapointed. I also believe that we will not be pressing for The Rangers to go back in the SPL / SPL2 and that the board are fully supportive of their admission into Division 3. However, because the statement was made without public knowledge (well I certainly didn't know) of this league reconstruction idea that still had The Rangers in Division 3 (i.e. it wasn't a bribe) then it makes it very awkward for the club. However, what's done is done and I believe that many others will come to realise soon that Kenny Camerons statement wasn't as bad as we first assumed. As for the folk asking Kenny Cameron to resign, i'd imagine that this is a board statement, not simply a Kenny Cameron statement. He's a Caley Thistle man and I do not believe that he is back tracking or misleading fans. Bottom line, the statement was regarding league reconstruction and NOT the league that The Rangers will be playing in.

  6. Guys and Girls, I made a dear Mr Cameron statement yesterday and in that I suggested his comments to the press were mis-timed and ill-advised. I stand by that but, having read so many, unfounded and undeserved, hate comments against KC, I now want everyone to take a step back. I have and I decypher the comments a little different in the cold light of day. Kenny Cameron, though I've never met him, comes across as someone who has a passion for this club. He also comes across as someone who knows the value of fans and of comunicating with fans. To me Kenny Cameron believes in our club and is very concerned for the future of the club. He always comes across as an honest and down to earth guy. Yesterday he made statements that, when you look at the different interpretations from different sensible peolpe, have maybe been taken out of context to a very high degree. My personal opinion is that his mistake was in making any statement at all. We all read the papers. We can all make our own minds up about the future of ICT and the future of Scottish football. Theres now a lot of change and uncertainty ahead, both for the club and for the game, but we all still need to be behind our team. I was never a season ticket holder before. When our club took the vote they did I became a season ticket holder. Not one ST but two. I dont even know if I'll get to one home game this season but I still put my money where my mouth was. And I may be able to do a little more for the club when I know what players we have. The big thing now is for total change in Scottish football. That will take a little time to set up but meantime, and I honestly hope the powers that be leave all as is for the moment and work towards the betterment of the game during the current season. Christ The Rangers may not even get out of Div3 Kenny and/or others at the top of ICT made a mistake in their press release but we have a new season coming up and we need every man, girl and their dogs to get behind the team and ensure we can continue at the top of whatever structure is in place in the future. All that now said I propose a vote of great confidence in Kenny Cameron and hope that he is very much involved in ICT and the Scottish game for many years to come.

  7. SPL ARMAGEDDON says The Sun apparently. Cameron doesn't have the right to say anything about a vote regarding SFL clubs and criticising their decision when the SPL sides already booted Rangers out. I am particularly uneasy at the quote "Scottish football was at a crossroads on Friday in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation and financial distribution that would have taken the game forward" which to me suggests that reconstruction was only going to be taken forward if Rangers were allowed into SFL1. If they weren't then tough there would be no league shake up or am I reading too much into this? I've said it already but the fact that, if the rumours are true about a few SPL clubs, then weaning ourselves off this TV deal may be the best thing that has ever happened to clus in Scotland. It's is ridiculous that Sky money is essentially our life support and we can no longer sustain ourselves. With the lack of matches on TV maybe you'll actually get more punters going through the gates. Optimistic maybe but the TV deal, abysmal as it may have been, has crippled our game.

  11. I think I agree with Fraz although he may think I don't! I may be totally disillusioned with our chairman tonight but the chairman is not ICT. We, the supporters are. Chairmen, managers, and players will come and go but as long as there are fans to cheer the team on there will be a club. However angry we may be with our chairman, now is not the time to stop supporting our team. Sporting integrity is not maintained by deserting your club because of a foolish statement made by the club chairman, it is maintained by staying, supporting your club and making your views known.

  12. I've made 2 or 3 posts calling for Doncaster to go. I repeat that tonight, but this time he can take our Chairman with him. His statement is wrong on just about every level and, like many others I am embarrased to be associated with the club tonight. Let's look at some of the things Mr Cameron has said today. He states "Scottish football was at a crossroads today in terms of what was on the table for all clubs regarding reorganisation, financial distribution and a road map that would have taken the game forward. But this has now been thrown in to disarray by this decision" What he is saying here is that the clubs of the 3 divisions of the SFL have destroyed the opportunity to move the game forward with their vote today. He is saying it is OK for the teams in the SPL to vote for sporting integrity but nothing short of a disgrace for teams in the SFL to do so. He goes on to say "A once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward change may well have been lost." But why? Is he saying that he and others were only prepared to discuss restructuring and other changes if Newco were placed in Division 1? Clearly if there is an appetite for change then it matters not one jot whether Newco are in Division 1, Division 3, the SPL or the Govan Sunday league. The opportunity for change is only lost if the clubs refuse to work together for that change. It really is contemptible that he is acting as Doncaster's stooge in this. There are two issues which should be competely separate. One is Newco's application to join the SFL and the other is league reconstruction. His statement also says "There was an opportunity on the table, in terms of the joint agreement tabled at today’s meeting for us all to come together and a genuine willingness to improve the game substantially over the coming years." But if there is a genuine willingness, there will still be opportunity to take things forward. What will have damaged that willingness to work together for change is not the principled vote by the SFL chairmen, but the ICT chairman having the brass neck to accuse them of putting proposals into disarray because they voted on a basis of sporting integrity just as he had apparently done earlier. What his disgraceful remarks today mean is that he hadn't the guts to vote the way he wanted but is slating the chairmen of smaller clubs for not doing his dirty work for him. Why on earth would any of the other chairmen want to work with him when he treats them with such contempt? Mr Cameron has done the game in Scotland and this club in particular a grave disservice. He should have welcomed the vote to admit Newco into the SFL and accepted the SFL Chairmen's decision to vote for entry at Division 3 level. He should then have welcomed the fact that the Newco saga was now settled in terms of where they will play this season and then called for all clubs to put that behind them and work together for the restructuring Scottish football so desparately needs. That would have demonstrated some humility and leadership. Instead he has alienated ICT from most of the other clubs and has made the task of obtaining a consensus on the way forward that much more difficult. May I suggest that the first item on the agenda for the Emergency Board meeting should the appointment of a new Chairman?

  13. Apparently, according to Mr Cameron, "This could be the end of football as we know it". Maybe that's not a bad thing if the game as we know it is dead on its feet. The SPL's founding principles were greed and dishonesty, and now the chickens are coming home to roost.

  20. If Kenny Cameron is capable of coming out with a poorly timed and constructed press statement which makes the club look an unprincipled joke then no, he is not good for the club. If he has not played the fans for fools by pretending to be onside with them but hoping that others do what he actually fervently wanted to do but could not be seen to do, then he needs to explain himself urgently.

No-one called him a 'top' player. I used the term 'solid' and yes he will be. Have you actually seen him play recently - at Middlesborough I mean, not in this inferior MLS product - or are you basing your assumptions on 2003 or earlier ? quite frankly, for anyone who is watching Scottish Football implode right now to have the stones to slag off the standard of any league as inferior is quite astonishing.

  24. This has really put a dampner on the satisfaction felt over yesterday's decision for Sevco to be sent to SFL3. I had plans for today fall through, so was intending to head through to Elgin for the friendly. After this statement, I'm going to keep my money to myself instead. The ICT top packed for my fortnight in Italy has also been replaced with a Scotland top and the planned increase in £'s spent on matches/merchandise/ICT lottery has gone out of the window. Thoroughly miffed.

  26. Inverness Caledonian Thistle Chairman Kenny Cameron announced that, following the decision by the Scottish football authorities to place the "newco" Rangers in to the third division, that the clubs' directors were holding an extraordinary meeting to review the financial situation and agree on a way forward to ensure the financial stability of the club in the short-term and the long term. Mr Cameron added "None of us will escape the financial fall out from this. The directors of ICTFT have always been fully aware of the financial implications should the final decision be to send the Newco to the third division but we now have to take stock in the light of that decision being finalised." "We have attempted to communicate closely with our fan base throughout these difficult times and have also stived to uphold the sporting integrity of Scottish Football. There are difficult times ahead for Inverness Caledonian Thsitle and many clubs in both the SPL and the SFL. Despite the negativity and pessimism abounding at the present time we are prepared to support the SFA, the SPL and the SFL in the pursuit of change and reorganisation whilst maintaining the stability of our club and hopefully promoting the survival of clubs in the lower reaches of the game, where our club was standing not so many years ago".

  30. Surely it hasn't escaped your notice that the SFL teams actually voted in their own financial self-interest? Every one of them will get 2 home sellouts against Rangers plus a likely SFL TV deal and improved sponsorship. The only people who have voted for 'sporting integrity' at the direct expense of their own self interest were ICT and 9 other SPL teams.

  32. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Why did Kenny Cameron feel he had to make a statement today? But I'm glad he did because now we can see what a hypocrite he is. So he cites sporting integrity as reason for not allowing Sevco into the SPL, but then seems appalled that the SFL should not play to his tune and discard their own principles of sporting integrity in allowing Sevco to waltz into the First Division. Kenny Cameron has brought shame on this club. From the moral high ground to the very depths. Absolutely disgusted. Yes, Alex, shopping is better than chucking money at this rubbish.

  35. Dear Mr Cameron, It would appear, looking at comments from Chairmen such as that at Annan and looking on social networking sites, that you have made a big error of judgement in your comments to the press today. Your comments, though they may have been good intentioned, make the world look at the SPL Chairmen, including yourself, in a very different light. That statement has come across like the SPL voted Rangers out but that they fully expected that they could buy the services of the SFL, under the misled guidance of Messrs Regan and Doncaster, to get Rangers into the second tier. Mr Cameron I am enclined to think that this display of self preservation and of the desperation for Rangers in the SPL by the teams of the SPL has not only expanded the gulf between SPL and SFL but has put the final nail in the coffin of the current set up within Scottish Football. In one breath the SPL chairmen are voting, not just because of fan pressure but for Sporting Integrity yet behind the scenes they are chucking that self same Sporting Integrity out the window to try and put pressure on the SFL teams. Football in Scotland can be saved and I would urge all clubs to work together to save it. It can be done but only by first acknowledging that all forty two clubs have a say in it and by disbanding the elitest group that care for no other than themselves. The next step is to get rid of those within the Hierarchy of SPL and SFA and of bringing in a true leader, under the auspices of one governing body, who can take our game to a new, more secure and sensible level. Finally I suggest that those who control our game should never underestimate the effects of fan power. Fan power can make or break a club and, following on from your statement tonight, fans of ICT are indicating that they may prefer a shopping trip with the wife on a saturday afternoon ahead of supporting the team. 36. What I think is really sad is the fact that ICT were almost excluded from the SPL due to apparent self preservation. How we mumped and moaned about the attitudes of clubs that made up the SPL back in 2004 that didn't seem to welcome playing by rules in case it upset the apple cart. Well here we are now in 2012 and we've managed to get into the top league (again) and now we are one of those clubs whom we initially had to battle to get into that top league and now the shoe is on the other foot and we only care about self preservation. Very disappointing.

  37. Very disappointing statement from Cameron, topped off by a post from Caley100 that contained all the hallmarks of a raging currant bun. For Cameron to come out blabbering about a once in a lifetime opportunity to change Scottish football just begars belief. The attempt to place Sevco in the 1st was evidence of Scottish football's unwillingness to change at all costs, and the decision that SFL clubs made today gives us a chance, just a chance, of reconfiguring the game away from the tedious Old Firm domination that we have all got so sick of over the past 20 years. It will be tough. It will certainly be on a smaller scale, and more clubs will probably end up having to start afresh in the 3rd, but personally I would prefer to watch under 19's in the 3rd than a bunch of loanees from the English lower leagues trying to keep us in the SPL at all costs so that we don't lose our slice of Old Firm generated tv money. That's not sport for me. It's just a televised entertainment show in which we are suppossed to be grateful for our bit-part. I salute the SFL 25.

Only six out of 42 clubs in Scotland have voted with Rangers or abstained from voting. 36 club chairmen are in agreement on how things should by. Thats one hell of a vote of no confidence in those running our game.

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

    • Inverness CT -V- Raith Rovers - Preview
The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

    • Queens Park 0-1 Inverness CT - Report
Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.
