  1. It's terrible really. Gary Warren played in every cup game in that campaign apart from the final and was an integral part of the side and doesn't get a medal, yet Tarmo Kink who only played about 10 minutes against Raith, gets a winner's medal and then buggers off. Doesn't seem right.

  2. SFA rules state 3. Awards to Players, Officials and Match Officials The Association shall present a medal or a souvenir in such forms as the Board may decide to each of the players, to each of such substitutes as are eligible, the Manager or Head Coach and to the match officials, in the Final Tie. It seems, therefore, that the SFA Board can decide which players might be eligible but does not define this in their rules. In contrast, the FA rules state:- (b) In addition to the FA Cup, The Association shall present 30 medals to playing staff and officials of both Clubs in the Final. This means that English Clubs have absolute discretion on who they award their medals to. A player in England who was banned for the final but who made the kind of contributions throughout the competition that Warren and Raven made last year would undoubtedly get a winners medal. I seem to remember that not so long ago, the winning club in England gave one of the medals to the kit man who had kept all the kit in good order for over 30 years - a lovely gesture. It does make sense to allow the clubs to decide themselves who deserves the medals rather than being dictated to by a bunch of power crazed little Hitlers. Having said that, the power is ultimately in the hands of the member clubs of the SFA. Surely they could push through a change to the rules on this?

  3. Ross County are performing well in the cups and have a fantastic draw in the last 16 at home to Linlithgow Rose. And, obviously it's a big day for County this weekend with Celtic at Hampden, but they're 'going well' in the league, too. Plus, on a lesser scale, and probably overlooked by many, they've progressed to the Scottish Youth Cup Semi-Finals - a tournament, traditionally the preserve of the 'Old Firm' (both of whom are already out this season!) They're certainly doing something right, over-the-bridge....even it is through Uncle Roy's chequebook! However, the following table suggests that County are still very much 'In Our Shadows'! They've never managed to do the clean-sweep on us - i.e. bettering us in all three competitions in the same season - although, we've done it to them on a number of occasions! The Challenge Cup is excluded as we weren't always competing in it at the same time. There's significant danger ahead - County could do the Highland Treble!

  4. I believe you're right, Renegade - that Tarmo Kink actually got a medal?! And cheers to 12th Man, for 'flagging this up'...it's an outrage! I guess that in the aftermath of the elation at our incredible triumph, I'd never really thought about doing a break-down of the individual contributions to it, nor who received medals. But, reflecting now, the SFA specification regarding medal awards are totally unjust! Blimey, even Cammy Mackay and Lewis Horner will have Scottish Cup Winners' medals! (with due respect) That's a farce! Should unused subs in the Final really get one? Anyway, assuming that's the case, using Soccerway's database, here are the contributions to our cup success in minutes-played and goals scored (and 'keepers clean-sheets). Red = no medal.

  7. Funnily enough, I was reading about that just a few days ago in an interview he did with the Herald, after extending his new deal. He stated that signing until 2019 would give him the chance to make it '3rd time lucky on a personal level'. It seems he missed out on a winners medal on top of not getting a League cup runners-up medal - but the club had applied on his behalf on both occasions, but were denied. He mentioned that the 2 bookings rule (leading to a ban) is harsh on defenders who tend to 'take the most bookings'. GARY WARREN, the Inverness Caley Thistle captain, is determined to use his bumper new deal to help drive last season's ground-breaking Ladbrokes Premiership team to fresh success. The Highlanders' defensive warrior sounded the rallying cry after committing his future to the club through to summer 2019. Warren has twice suffered shattering heartache after being punished with automatic bans for both of the club's historic cup final appearances under manager John Hughes. He danced in celebration at Hampden Park last May as the team triumphed in the Scottish Cup final against Falkirk, but the day was tinged with personal sadness after taking a costly second booking of the tournament in the semi-final against Celtic. It had been a similar story just over a year earlier when a red card in the League Cup semi-final victory over Hearts denied the 31-year-old a place in the team ultimately beaten on penalty kicks by Aberdeen. On each occasion, the club requested a medal for Warren in recognition of the huge part he had played in the campaign, but both times were denied. But after agreeing to the three-and-a-half year extension at the weekend, the talented Bristolian made it clear he is hungry to renew the club's tilt for major honours after last season's European qualification and silverware success. Warren, who joined from Newport County under Terry Butcher in summer 2012, has embraced life in the north of Scotland with relish, settling with his family and establishing himself as a near ever-present first team mainstay. "It's brilliant to have signed up – I'm very pleased," Warren said. "This is a club where I've enjoyed my time and I'm in my fourth season now. We've done some special things during my time here, but I want to make sure this club kicks on by maintaining its status in this league and improving every season. We're the Scottish Cup holders and we want to win it again. We're through to the next round of the Scottish Cup and I hope it is third time lucky for me on a personal level. It's unfortunate, but these things happen. I'm a defender who makes tackles and takes bookings. The manager has been brilliant since I came here. He has developed me as a person and a player. When I first started with Inverness I was more renowned as a header and a kicker but he has brought out the passing style in my game which is what we are all striving for." Warren, understandably, led calls for the SFA to rethink the rule that brings a cup final suspension on the strength of just two yellow cards in the competition. As yet, those pleas have fallen on deaf ears, but Warren is certain his – and the team's – glory day will come again.

  8. Well, someone had to say it. It would be fantastic if another Highland team reached a final and indeed wrecked Celtic's annual right top a treble.

  9. the club are guaranteed over 2500 full paying Aberdeen fans alone plus loads more full paying fans for the home end we had 6400 for the last home game. That would absolutely cripple the club getting Aberdonians to pay what they can. For a smaller match you can even take a small loss IF it genuinely encourages more to frequently attend in the future. No point what so ever dropping prices for a well supported game.

  10. The ironic thing is you're the only poster to mention a possible loan regarding Yann Songo'o

  11. Yup, they are on what's called a "Development Loan" which means they get experience and can still play in Dev League matches. Expect to see us making more use of this in future.

  12. With both Warren and Draper committed for the long term it's been a good couple of weeks for the future of ICT. Having Esson on the playing staff for another two years is a bonus too.

  13. Excellent news about Draper and Esson. We at least now have the "core four" of Warren, Meekings, Draper and Tansey to build around. I'm presuming that Esson will continue on his coaching path, but I doubt we'll keep both Fon Williams and Brill TBH. Goalkeeper and strikers next, then we have the spine of the team for next season.

  14. Absolutely delighted that they've signed up! 2 big players for us! Draper especially...but Esson is still a good keeper and I'm sure will turn out to be a great coach for us! Both deserved their deals as they've played a huge part in the clubs success and can hopefully contribute to another 3 years of it

  16. Two ICT u20 players are going out on loan to Fort William apparently, thanks to Duncan Shearer wanting to help out his old club. Not sure who they are though. Rumours that Ali Sutherland is going to go on loan at Elgin City as well.

  18. Absolute disgrace that he should be denied a Cup Winner's medal. Let's make sure he gets one this season!

  19. The video is a wee bit cringey if you are an adult but I think it's good for the younger ICT fans to watch. Look forward to seeing a bunch of them doing this in their ICT strips at football pitches across Inverness.

  21. I suppose in some ways, taking pyrotechnics illegally into football grounds is simply regarded by those who do it as some kind of rite of passage.... or a step along the career pathway towards an appearance on The Jeremy Kyle Show.

  23. Just change league for sfa then and the point is exactly the same. Cjt aren't protecting the club from some mythical points deduction or expulsion from the cup. They are self promoting and attention seeking and actively working against the fans they pretend to represent. It is the job of the police to go after people with smoke bombs if they so choose.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.
