  1. The team needs good vocal support and I don't think there is anybody who doesn't think the increased vocal support from the youngsters recently is great. But there is a world of difference between supporting your club by making a lot of noise, and harming your club by behaving in a way which might involve the police and which might result in the SFA taking sanctions against the club. You're smart enough to know what the difference is, so please continue to support the team by making a lot of noise - but just leave it at that.

  2. An interview by Queensland Soccer News with Andrew MacAskill : http://queenslandsoccernews.com/2016/03/23/soccer-world-off-the-pitch-andrew-macaskill-holland-park-hawks/. QSN: What are your greatest individual and team moments in football? AM: Individually, getting a full time contract with Inverness was a big achievement and is something that as a kid you want to try and achieve. More recently, I was named in the Highland League team of the year for 2015 which I was pleased with as there are a lot of good players in the league. As a team there is nothing better than winning trophies and winning the Highland League Cup in 2013 with Keith FC and Aberdeenshire Shield with Turriff United in 2015. They are two medals I look back at with great pride. QSN: Who is the best player you have played with or against in your career? AM: It’s hard to pick the best player I have played with but it would probably be between Graeme Shinnie who is now at Aberdeen FC or Stuart Armstrong who is currently at Celtic FC.

  3. We can start our contract offers as early as you want, but if we can't offer enough they will go elsewhere. It's just a job. Some folk think it's all down to the club, there's a lot more to it than that, but it's an easy option to blame. Feeder club I'm afraid, good players like Shinnie will always be hunted by bigger payers. Wat you genuinely believe might have been true, but how do we know. We will never know now.

  4. Starting on stewards- is that the same stewards who antagonised the situation by their over zealous heavy handed approach? The stewards behaviour was, I would suggest, like a red rag to a bull. Shouting at police - the same police that were hurriedly called to the section by the stewards who were fearing for their lives because some people were jumping and singing oh the humanity! The police that were then video-recording said singing and jumping. I'm sure they were politely asked to turn off their cameras........ A small pitch invasion....are you having a laugh!!!! One guy jumps over the barrier to celebrate a goal and it's a pitch invasion.....behave herself mun! and I agree, there is no place for foul mouthed hate filled chanting at a derby match......because that doesn't happen at a Dundee Derby or the old firm or Manchester or any London derby.....nope just those unacceptable ict fans..... and I witnessed a lot of pro ict songs. More than I ever did whilst sitting in the main stand at TCS, now....if this is what you want from football then you crack on. in fact, the 'support' that I have witnessed while sitting in the main stand at TCS is far more derogatory to the club than anything that happened through in Dingwall. Sitting in silence, only breaking that silence to deride every single pass and decision by every player and the management, whilst simultaneously tutting that the opposition never make a mistake and are just perfect.....the players hear it and pick up on it! the atmosphere on Saturday was described as fantastic and electric by the Beeb....this was of course as a result of the tremendous support of the two teams by everyone in the ground, except for those in section d.......because they were just childish hooligans! 6. I like nothing better than a good noisy atmosphere at football. However I dont understand the need to stand on seats or to damage them. When visiting fans cause damage the host club presents the visiting club for a bill to offset such. I believe the recent visit by Dundee United to Dingwall resulted in a hefty bill for that club. Thats cash that should be earmarked for other things.

  8. First I'll make a point on the 7% leaving the country. This is fact. There are many people working in North Sea who are higher band tax payers. There are many others who work from home. These are the people who have indicated they'd move away. They dont need to find new jobs. Secondly to clarify the SNP position. What is actually being put forward is that SNP would freeze current tax rates such that nobody would be paying any more than they are at the moment but the UK gov reductions wouldn't apply in Scotland. In effect tyhat means people will pay more than they would elsewhere in UK. SNP also indicated that the top rate payers would be subjected to annual increases in line with inflation. Thats the SNP position which should be compared to that of other parties. Tories will follow UK and reduce tax for high earners. LibDem will increase tax across the board by 1%. Labour--well its kind of difficult to decypher their manifesto but I think they mentioned anything between 1% and 3% across the board. So what does it all mean for me. Well I live of a company pension. I pay tax on that pension. An SNP gov will not increase my tax burden. A Tory gov will not increase my tax burden. A Lab or LibDem gov will increase my tax burden. Anyway, Happy non-Indy day. Even the Daily Record is printing non-lies today on how things could have been. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/scottish-government-advisor-ewan-crawford-7616553#YfbSPW1sLLOZ0eq0.97

  9. Perhaps the club offered as much as they could afford to Shinnie or any other player and still balance the books. The football club is a business and has to be run like such. If the average salary is £X and we offered Shinnie £4X then that means we would have had to either sacrifice 3 players or sign 6 players on £0.5X just to break even. So you end up with a threadbare squad relying on the youngsters who aren't ready or good enough or a team with 1 or 2 top players and the rest just not near the required level. Where is the actual facts in that statement, its been media conjecture - has the player ever come out and officially said through a reputable source this was the case. Everyone on here constantly blames the club, the players have input into this and can decide who to sign for, how much and when. Consider they have informal chats with the manager and club, if they indicate a desire to leave then why waste time, money and effort on long discussions otherwise, having solicitors involved etc when its unlikely they will change their mind. Too many on here think real world football is like football manager.

  10. Sounds like we're going back to the darkest days of hooliganism in the 80s. Folk used to complain how quiet our fans were. I'd be interested to know how many seats were actually broken. And if some of our fans were so out of order, why weren't there complaints from County? Why didn't the police/stewards take some action? Personally I think it's great that we've now got a loud, vocal, enthusiastic group of younger fans. Fk me, those complaining should try attending something like a Spurs/West Ham game, like I did earlier this season. They'd walk out in disgust after 5 minutes!!

  11. It's not just related to these guys though. I genuinely believe that if we had made Shinnie a (damn good) offer in the summer of 2014 he would have signed it. That's not to say that we would have retained him but at least we would have gotten some cash for the guy had he moved on. Instead we didn't try and offer him a contract until the midway point of the season by which point his head was already being turned by what else was out there. Bottom line, if you want to try and keep your players and avoid other clubs coming in and nicking them for buttons try and start your contract talks a little bit earlier. Something ICT seldom seem to do.

  15. And another thing, why would both clubs encourage the building of an atmosphere by creating said 'singing section'. Did they not realise that this would encourage the hoodlums to all be in the same area....yes they did! But that's what they wanted!

  16. The young fans have brought a great new dimension to our games both home and away recently with their noise and colour which I am sure is noticed and greatly appreciated by the team and the vast majority of the rest of the fans. It would be a great pity of that positive image they have generated for both themselves and the club were to be tarnished by immature and criminal activity by the few apparently endorsed by some misguided posters on this site.

  17. The team needs a bit of freshening up, so wouldn't be all that sad if more players from the Butcher era vacate our club. ...this is what JH said regarding Danny Williams in the wake of the Dundee interest: "For Danny Williams to stay here, he has to show us it's not all money motivated," he said. "If it is the case that he wants to be here then it gives us a wee half nudge to try and keep him". That can be read two ways (at least): 1. Danny's chasing the cash and we're not really too bothered about him leaving. 2. We'd quite like to keep Danny, but we've been gazumped by a better offer and there's need to be another incentive for him to stay here, in which case we'd like to keep him, but we're probably not going to succeed. If interpretation 1 is correct, I have no problem with it - this is by mutual consent effectively - everybody knows the score and JH has long planned for him not being here next year and Danny is off to earn a higher salary. Fair enough. But, the second part of the statement indicates that any offer from ICT would only happen now, if Danny were to effectively say that he'd prefer to stay here on a lower wage. That is reactive and too late IMO. Surely, at the start of any season, the manager and the club have the foresight to know who is approaching the ned of their contract and who should be retained, if the player wants to. You then approach those players before January and see how the land lies. some will bite your hand off (3 players have been in the press saying as much), some will say no and some will be willing to negotiate. Armed with that, you can offer guys who both parties want to stay contracts before other clubs can poach them, you can plan for replacements of those who are going to leave and you can negotiate with the ones who are up for negotation - again, some of these will be lost because the ask is too high. That way, by January the manager and the club should be fairly clear who is with us for the next year or 3, who needs replaced and what the remaining budget is. The evidence that this hasn't happened this year is that no contract extensions were announced before January, despite several players indicating that they'd want to stay. Two of those (Liam Polworth and Fon Williams) have since been offered a contract, so presumably was on JH's shopping list, but might well be in the sights of other clubs. Of course we are a selling club - and we will also inevitably lose some guys on a free because they're too expensive fro us to hold on to. If the club and manager are doing everything in their power to pro-actively retain players, then great! My concern is that this year they have been very unsuccessful to date in keeping a solid core to the team and JH's ability to bring adequate replacements in so far has been far from outstanding. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong!

  18. First I would say to Caley Stan that if Sturgeon wants to increase departmental spending she is free to do so. All she has to do is to use the new powers devolved to her Government and raise taxes. She is choosing, for cynical political reasons, to continue to impose austerity on the Scottish public. To Alex I say that he is wrong in saying top rate tax payers would face tax rises in line with inflation (other than, of course, the increased tax they pay as a result of pay rises in line with inflation). Sturgeon says it would be "daft" to increase the tax rates of the better off. What she has said is that the level at which the higher rates would be levied would be increased in line with inflation - this is quite a different thing! What that does, is to stop more and more people in jobs such as nursing and teaching getting sucked into the higher tax brackets. This is effectively the same as increasing the level to £45k as Osborne proposes, but on an ongoing basis. The effect of this is that the better off will pay less tax and not more! This is because the level at which they start to pay the higher rate will be increased in line with inflation each year. I too live off an occupational pension and pay tax at the basic rate. My personal view is there is a need to reduce Government debt. But at the same time, the current squeeze on public services is causing real problems and I feel spending on public services needs to increase. To increase spending you first need to raise the money. To do that you can either borrow or increase taxes. Borrowing has the huge problem of how you later pay back the increased level of debt and risks going down the route of Spain or Greece. Increasing taxes is therefore the sensible option. And whilst I would be in favour of the greater burden falling on those best able to pay, I would happily pay more in order to preserve and develop essential public services. It seems the SNP take the position that the majority of people would rather let public services go to the wall rather pay a penny more in tax. They may be right, but if so, what an awful reflection of the Scottish people that is! I'm not going to vote for my own selfish interests, I'm going to vote for the future of Scotland and will vote for one of the parties which is prepared to use our newly devolved powers to invest in the future of Scotland. Clearly, therefore, I will not be voting SNP. And in the interest of balance, the Record has also published this hhttp://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/ex-no-campaign-adviser-project-7615966#VxIIboM5VwxqGXVw.97is.

  19. I'm not a supporter of the SNP and i'm far from impressed by the tax policies they've unveiled recently, but i feel the need to correct the assumption that these amount to an acceptance of austerity. Sturgeon articulated the SNP position on austerity very clearly in the run-up to the 2015 General Election when she proposed real terms departmental spending increases of 0.5% per year for the the duration of the parliament. The SNP continues to support increases in public spending i.e. the opposite of austerity. That is their policy regardless of what you may think of the economics behind it.

  20. Finances have a major influence, agents have a major influence, transfer "rewards" have a major influence. Most of the players that we have "lost" have tended to be either players who could play at a higher level or fringe players. To me the players that we need to hold on to are the Warrens, Drapers and Polworths - and we do tend to do that. To me the "problem" has to be in our "scouting" system which does not appear as effective as in the past. I have never liked loaners but that is the way of the world. I would be looking at a definite link with an English club where we try out the promising youngsters of a higher potential and look at strengthening the rest of the squad with lower league players (Scotland and England), giving them short, trial contracts in the hope that we unearth a player or at least strengthen the squad. Unfortunately we do not appear either to promote or encourage some of our Development squad. And I don't see anything wrong with. "Sugar Daddy" and I am surprised, given the potential of the team in recent seasons, that one has not come on board, especially when the Highlands, tourism and good old fashioned emotive marketing could be very profitable.

  25. Do we have any pics of our own fans because their behaviour was similarly unacceptable. Principally some of the singing section. There was much abusive chanting against the RC team and fans, Police and Stewards, release of smoke bombs, a small pitch invasion which would have been larger had the stewards not been ready for it. Jumping on seats was also observed. The foul-mouthed hate filled chanting against the opposing side should be replaced by pro ICT songs and chants. I could see some small children 5/6yos and some children who appeared to be about 9 or 10. What kind of football education are they getting in amongst such hate filled abusive supporters who do no good for our club.

  26. Wedderburn's been a bit of a mixed bag so far. There's been games where he's been rather ineffective and others where he's been the best player on the park. The Astra away tie for example he was excellent. I'd offer him another year as I do feel there's something about him.

  27. Great to see Liam doing so well. In my opinion there is nothing quite like a truly local boy in the team to provide inspiration to youngsters in Inverness to follow their dreams and have confidence in their abilities, whatever path they choose to follow. I'm so glad he's taken his chance to carry on where Nick and Ryan left off and credit to the youth coaches for their part in nurturing local talent. All the very best for 2016 Liam and the rest of the team too. Thanks for an amazing year and loads of unforgettable memories.

  28. Quite right, I was in town for a meal and a couple of drinks the night we ruined Celtics League Cup a few years ago. Brewster era. If you went into the bar that used to be the police station that night, you would have seen young drunks in Celtic tops at the bar whilst in the basement toilets, you would have seen urinal pipes ripped off of the wall spraying water onto the floor and the bog pans blocked up with paper too so the water had nowhere to go. Propper football fans eh? Not.

  29. But Alex, you were also quite sure that the oil price plunge was just a short lived blip of no consequence.... and that Grand Theft Auto is worth more to the Scottish economy than the oil (which it probably now is for that matter!) And now you tell us that you are sure that if the need arises, the government will raise taxes. So the need hasn't arisen then? So our public services aren't struggling for lack of resources... our Councils aren't slashing services in a manner which could have been mitigated by a rise in Council Tax etc etc? Nothing, of course, to do with fostering resentment against financial stringency blamed on south of the border but really an active grievance-mongering policy of the SNP. I find it very interesting that your bland and unsupported assertions mirror closely the very same thing that comes from the party you support. What the SNP has had to offer so far is nothing more than unsupported statements, many of which have been utterly blasted out of the water by post-referendum revelations that Scotland's deficit is sitting at levels that a central African fourth world republic would cringe at and that the resource you have tried to shove down our throats for decades is a busted flush. And of course anyone casting sensible doubt on a lot of this fantasy and injecting some reality into the situation is simply accused... usually pretty loudly and aggressively in classic SNP style.... of "talking Scotland down" All of this totally epitomises the manner in which the SNP have simply fed the electorate with a series of porkies and we do indeed now just have to pray that the public, as DD earlier hoped, waken up to what a bunch of chancers this lot are before they can inflict even more damage. Their problem is that they have painted themselves into a corner with a series of assertions which aren't actually related to what is best for Scotland but is merely designed to hold as many people, many of them poorly informed, to the only policy that matters to the SNP. Let's be quite clear - whatever the SNP has to offer between now and May 5th will have NOTHING to do with what is best for Scotland. But, although it's taking a little time (and these things often do) the penny will eventually drop with the Scottish electorate that they are merely pawns in a big game which, if it had been successful in September 2014, would today INDEPENDENCE DAY have had the whole lot of us staring into the abyss as our neighbours, and now rivals, removed the financial scaffolding at the request of a one-off slender majority of poor, deluded souls.

  30. Joe... it's sometimes a bit difficult to assess the age of posters on forums like this so you leave me with a genuine dilemma. Are you actually one of the Young Team members yourself, sticking up for your chums, or are you a bit older than that but simply afflicted by some unfortunate Peter Pan complex when it comes to deciding what is and is not appropriate behaviour in public?

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner
