  2. Having spent some time in Barrow, he has my sincere sympathy although, having seen him play, Barrow too have my sympathy.

  4. Motherwell have held signing talks with goalkeeper Dean Brill, the 30-year-old who was released by Inverness Caledonian Thistle after a year sidelined by injury. (Daily Record, print edition)

  5. As I understand it, any Scottish teams having to travel to Wales or Ireland will have the cost subsidised by the SPFL. The Challenge Cup was badly in need of a new injection of life and I like what's being tried here. I think we do a disservice to lower league teams by suggesting they couldn't compete with premiership U20's squads....as we know, there's a few who have given full premiership teams a run for their money on many occasions.

  6. Really? That is a pretty sweeping generalisation, what facts are you using to back that potentially defamatory statement up? RCFC prices are pretty good, BOTH clubs are for that matter, but the only £165 ticket RCFC seem to offer is the over65/student ticket in the Jailend ..... On the ICT site it notes disabled prices are in line with the age groups but carers - if required - can have a free ticket. The Ross County site has no reference to disabled prices whatsoever on their pricing page and nothing in the notes so unless you called them I dont know where you got that. These are the FULL prices from both clubs and if you were early enough you could have got 10% off the ICT tickets making them cheaper than County in some instances. Like I said, both clubs are pretty good, certainly far better value for money than most other Premiership sides. ICT Main Stand (adult 26+) = £380 / County = £360 ICT Main Stand (young adult 16-25) = £280 / County £ no equivalent ICT Main Stand (U16) = £130 / County = £80 (U18) ICT Main Stand (U12) = £70 / County = £25 (U18) ICT Main Stand (65+) = £ 310 / County £210 dropping to £105 over 75 ICT North Stand (adult 26+) = £330 / County = £300 ICT North Stand (young adult 16-25) = £200 / County £ no equivalent ICT North Stand (U16) = £110 / County = £80 (U18) ICT North Stand (U12) = £FREE / County = £25 (U18) ICT North Stand (65+) = £ 220 / County £165 dropping to £82.50 over 75 ... off to have a shower now after visiting that website over the bridge.

  9. Great stuff, he's exactly the type of player to go for, someone on the up.

  10. Every signing is 'a bit of a risk' but it makes a refreshing change from last year to get this piece of business concluded so efficiently and early in the close season so that the player gets a full pre season under his belt as an integral part of the squad. Taken together with his undoubted role in retaining David Raven, a very promising start to the Richie Foran era.

  12. If he turns out to be anywhere as good as our last signing from Newport, Gary Warren, he'll do for me!

  13. This looks like a sensible acquisition. Newport finished 3rd bottom and he still managed 13 goals in 45 games. Before anyone starts suggesting that this is a poor scoring record, it is worth noting that Miles Storey (who we'd have loved to have retained) had an almost identical record with us. Welcome Scott and well done Richie!

  14. I think it's a good idea. The lesser clubs are not going to meet Welsh or Irish opposition until the last 16..... and I think at this stage an away trip (European adventure if you will) would be quite an exciting prospect for most of these teams. It will also be great for the young players to get competitive games under their belts. A very good idea in my opinion and I hope it works :)

  15. Scott Boden will be signing in the next couple of days, Newport County striker. He scored 15 goals for a pretty poor Newport side last season and hit double figures with both Halifax Town and Maccelsfield in previous seasons. He played with both Ross Draper and Carl Tremarco at Macclesfield.

  18. I wouldn't put it past them - but all the same, over the last few days I've started inclining towards Remain. 13 days to go though.

  19. This is an important competition for lower league clubs and, generally speaking, one of their very few opportunities to win silverware. The competition worked well on that level and will be much the poorer for being won by the likes of Celtic's youth team. A poor and self interested decision in my view.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.
