  1. Tbf I would say this was the worst away performance of the season by a mile, but the writing was on the wall when we saw the lineup. Billy rested for Longstaff, and Shaw, who is hopeless in the air, but had many high punts to deal with, playing alongside him. No spoony, and starts for Davidson and Duffy who should not be near an ICT shirt. Welsh started but is obviously not ready. Billy and Carson came on at half time and it looked a bit brighter for about 10 minutes. Not something which is said every day but defensively we miss Danny Devine. I think the stats at half time showed no shots for either side, on or off target. We continued our policy of not risking a shot but shuttling it around until it gets back to Ridgers. The game could easily have petered out at 0-0 but slack marking at set pieces cost us with two free headers. Toddy enjoyed sticking it right up our very vocal support and it could have earned him a booking but hey, maybe you or I would have done the same… I said before that McCabe has Airdrie playing the right way, even with limited quality, and up until the first goal they took the game to us, mainly down our right, although they had little to show for it apart from a few low crosses across the face with nobody to finish. The wee no 10 Frizzell is decent. Cammy Harper found himself free in the box late on and looked sure to equalise but he blootered it right in the path of the blocking defender when anybody else could have placed it. He had a hard time all day trying to outpace the full back so not a great day for Cammy. Anderson was quiet and Charlie picked up his customary booking. These loan signings, if they materialise, will need to do some heavy lifting.

  2. There must me more interesting things on the telly box at 3 p.m....then again...there's always YouTube I suppose. A tough away assignment indeed. After reading the reports from our last few games I am not confident we will get anything from this game. No Spoony in the team and a shot shy strike force! Has the makings of another dire outcome. Come on Big Dunc and ICT, get out of this rut you've made. Go smash and grab three points.

  3. New Year New Hope We face another tough encounter on Tuesday 2nd January as we visit the Excelsior Stadium to take on fifth place Airdrieonians for the fourth time this season having also faced them in the group stages of the League Cup. This one kicks off at 3:00pm, but, don't worry if you can't make the game, Airdrie have got you covered and are offering PPV Live Stream for £15:00. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match/Ticket/ Bus Info PPV Live Stream Broomhill - Scottish Cup ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Venue Pld Won Drn Lst For Agst + / - Home 9 5 0 4 14 12 +2 Away 7 2 2 3 9 15 -6 Neutral 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Total 16 7 2 7 23 27 -4 Honours are even over the years with Airdrie apart from that 6-0 humping we took off them in September 2001 Last 3 Competitive Meetings are the only significant ones as previous games were back before 2002 1 - 0 (H) 1 - 2 (A) 2 - 3 (H) Our first win over Airdrie in recent times was the last encounter at the Caledonian Stadium where we took all three points at the end of March. 1 - 0 Duncan ferguson was looking for his first home Championship success as the Diamond's visited the Caledonian Stadium. He would be without some key players. Unfortunately Welsh, Duffy, Doran, MacGregor, Nicolson, and Samuels were all out with Devine, Boyes, Ujdur, Harper and Carson all struggling to make this one. New signings David Wotherspoon and Cillian Sheridan were in the squad. As it was, Carson, Ujdur, Devine, Harper and Wotherspoon all started with Boyes and Sheridan on the bench. Airdrie had Gallagher and Todorov up front with Player Manager Rhys McCabe on from the start. It was a decent afternoon for a game of football and Airdrie took advantage of the good conditions to control the early possession although they never troubled Ridgers, one shot clearing the North Stand into the car park. The next one went five yards over the bar. The best Inverness could offer was a blocked shot on the edge of the box after our best move of the game. We came more into the mix and David Wotherspoon spooned a shot over the bar from five yards after Keeper Josh Rae had saved from Billy Mckay. He really should have scored but he made amends five minutes before the break with a tremendously calm finish. He showed real class unlike the open goal he missed earlier. The move began on the left with Longstaff then when it came to Wotherspoon in midfield he flicked it deftly to the right side where Gilmour fed Shaw. He drove down the wing before cutting the ball back to Spoony who turned in the box to roll the ball into the unguarded corner of the net from twelve yards after making the space for himself. Class! Half Time: 1-0 After the interval Airdrie retained the ball better but we threatened when Gilmour went down after a challenge in the box. Shaw picked up the loose ball but his shot was charged down as he tried to pick out the top corner from the edge of the box. A spate of substitutions disrupted the flow of the game and the visitors made a late push to salvage a point. However, we defended well despite half of our back four being substituted with Ujdur dominant. The big defender made a couple of crucial blocks, one in particular as Frizzell pulled the trigger, the ball deflecting over the bar. Despite the late pressure from Airdrie, Ridgers was not overly exerted although he made a couple of crucial catches and punches clear to hold on to the clean sheet and more importantly all three points. Full Time: 1-0 The fabulous execution of his goal was a great introduction for David Wotherspoon but for me the Man of the Match and new version of Bobby Mann was Nikola Ujdur. The Aussie defender is solid, strolled through the game unflustered and can pick a pass. Good graft in midfield but Sheridan and Big Harry need some work done. Shaw picked up a booking at the end when Big Dunc sent him back onto the pitch to get treatment All games are 3:00pm kick-off on Saturday. Airdrieonians v Inverness CT Arbroath v Dundee Utd Dunfermline v Raith Rovers Morton v Ayr Utd Partick Thistle v Queen's Park Last Time Out Inverness slumped to another disappointing result and performance as we failed to score at home to Morton and had to settle for a point on a turgid encounter last Saturday. Looks like the honeymoon is well and trully over for big Dunc with many fans likening the performance to that of Doddsball, and that didn't end well. Here's hoping the January sales brings in a couple of decent players as we are creaking at the seams and displaying a distinct lack of quality, especially beyond the first XI. With David Wotherspoon looking like he is either injured or offski to Tannadice then we are in desparate need of a playmaker and out and out striker. Last Five Games: W L L D D Airdrie were the only winners last Saturday as a late Todorov strike gave them all three points against a struggling Queens Park. A Dom Thomas penalty had Queens in front before half time but A bullet header from Mason Hancock squared the match before Toddy's 93rd minute winner. Airdrie stopped the rot with that one after a bit of a Championship slump since they beat Arbroath on November 11th. Last five Games: L L L D W Latest Team News Inverness might be without David Wotherspoon and he could well be finished here with Dundee United looking to get him on board. Doran, Samuels, Lodovica and Duffy are out. Carson got a few minutes against Morton but MacGregor is still being nursed back towards getting some game time. Here's Dunc speaking ahead of Airdrie game: We were rubbish, weren't we>>> No official team news available yet Callum Gallagher is the Diamond's top scorer on seven goals with Todorov and Lewis MacGregor both on four. 4. We need to spend the millions we haven't got and some quality players that aren't available or don't wont to move to the Highlands for a naff contract. Ayr, Arabs and Raith next up in the league so the task is very daunting indeed. Even Broomhill might not provide any relief from the doom and gloom. The powers that be need to work some magic.

  6. Actually it was a quite a happy bus home with a lot of laughs! We forgot about the result, had our quizmaster extraordinaire with his footie questions, then a singsong. Home before 10pm so - all ready for Ayr on Saturday - we are nothing if not resilient!

  7. Fortunately we’re not on our own at the bottom end of the table so we’re still in with a fighting chance if some half decent bodies get added during the transfer window. Was just thinking about what dire straits we’d be in if it wasn’t for the wee bounce when Dunc took over - could’ve been well adrift and properly doomed by now so grateful for the small mercy of still having a wee bit of hope.

  8. Need to have a good look at the formation ,5 at the back clearly not working with the players we have. Shocking again only 1 off target shot.

  12. Wasn't there today (thank goodness). Sounds like more of the same as the tactics and awful/boring/tedious football I witnessed at the recent Arbroath and Morton home games. Those were painful and two of the worst matches I've ever been to. Big Dunc, you need you're team to have some of the spirit you had as a player, albeit I'm not expecting them to be English Premiership level like you were. Totally expect home attendances to keep dropping with the awful tactics and football Big Dunc is punishing us with just now!!

  13. At this rate it will be automatic relegation! Wtf is playing without a striker all about ? Being a striker himself that should be 1 area he knows about . Substitutions and timing of them 2 can also be bewildering at times . As fir being sent off yet again . Things are bad enough without you being in the stands again . Personally want DF to do well so come on sort it out Big Dunc !

  15. Really poor hope we can add to defence and up front very soon.

  16. We are awful. Dunc spends more time arguing with the officials than passing on instructions. Him and Bollan never communicate either.

  17. Our new style of play under Ferguson of not shooting during games does pose a risk that scoring becomes problematic.

  18. Today is the first league match I've missed this season. We have struggled in most games, in fact only Ayr at home, Arbroath, Dundee Utd and Queen's Park away have been enjoyable. Don't want to be too negative given Big Dunc is just in the door but I was really disappointed to hear that he was delighted with a point against Morton at home. Surely we should be striving for more. But yes our lack of goals (and clear cut chances) is very concerning.

  19. Luckily for us it’s just as well Ayr, Arbroath and Queens Park are also getting zilch from this afternoon…

  20. This is perhaps unfair given this is my first game of the season but we are awful. Staggeringly negative with a shaky defence and a non existent attack. A honking performance so far.

As a Dundee United player he could become a medal winner and be back in the SPFL next season. Fair to say he really helped us.

  32. I had family duties today so thankfully didn’t sign up for the livestream as it sounds like it would have been a hard watch. We are in a relegation fight now with Ayr, Arbroath and Queens Park and really can’t afford to lose at Ayr on Saturday. When I saw the line up, I was glad to see Welsh back in but I see he was hooked at half time: did he seem fully fit? I know Mckay has worked his socks off all season but we really should have started with him. To have only one attempt all game is pathetic. I see Devine was missing: is he another injury casualty? Two points out of fifteen…..

    • Inverness CT 1-0 Montrose Play-Off Second Leg (0-0)
Little Consolation: Inverness will face Hamilton Accies in the Play-Off final after nervously scraping past part-time Montrose who were eventually reduced to ten men when Blair Lyons was sent off after an off the ball incident in the 84th minute involving Morgan Boyes. Inverness had dominated throughout, but failed to capitalise on their possession, and as per the entire season failed to create much of note. The first half was livlier than the first leg, but the same problems showed up our lack of quality. We started with no wingers and Billy Mckay as usual in a withdrawn role. It's not worked all season, so why should it suddenly work now. A woeful first half ended goalless and it was on the hour and out of the blue when Billy Mckay prodded in from three yards to score the only goal of the game following a corner

    • Inverness CT -V- Montrose - Second Leg (0-0)
As much as we have criticised the Caley Jags performance on Tuesday night, let's not lose sight of the fact that Montrose are a decent League 1 side with a good blend of experience and talented prospects. For our part, let's keep them as a good League 1 side and that means no room for faffing about. Time has run out now, there's no hiding places and no room for shirkers. Ditch the sideways passing or put goal posts in front of the Main Stand and tuck shops.

    • Montrose 0-0 Inverness CT - Play Off 1st Leg
      FULL TIME: 0-0

All to play for on Saturday, but don't hold your breath...

However, if we continue like this, it will be our final game this season.

Best performer for us was Samson Lawal, the only bright spark on the field.

Alloa 2-2 Hamilton was the other semi-final score tonight. On this evidence, I doubt either side will be quaking in their boots.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

    • Inverness CT -V- Morton - Preview
Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D
