  1. Had he been off talking to a St Johnstone, Aberdeen, Motherwell or something then you might have a point. However, for me, this has been far from unsettling, the total opposite in fact. We've just had our Manager get an offer from a club who could offer him many times the salary he could ever get here and a player budget that could fund half the SPL. I don't know of any Manager who wouldn't have had their head turned by such an offer. Despite all that he chose ICT!!! We've just had more publicity than money could buy and the message at the end of it is....ICT don't have much, but they must be something really special if a man like Terry Butcher would rather be there on less money and with a smaller budget. Terry has just done more in two days to help shake of the "small town backwater" tag that is often applied to us than anything else that has happened in the last 19 years. The message he has just given the players is exactly the same...."lads, it's ok to look but its not all about the money, there's things to be earned here that money cannot buy".
  2. Is this where I get to say "told you so"?

  4. Its them trying to do something without really doing anything. The stupid split thing seems to be so they can have 4 Old Firm games again even though anything would be an improvement on the 0 they get at the moment. The pyramid system would be too much hard work for them to do so they won't bother. Plus its all about self preservation. Its baffling when you consider that the fans have said on countless occasions thta they want a bigger league. This structure has been tried in other countries and has not lasted. On the plus side Sevco have said that if it goes ahead then they want out of Scottish Football so I suppose there may be one bonus.
  5. That Pep chap, you know - ex Barcelona is looking for work. He's fond of a team in red and blue stripes.
  6. Absolute bo**ocks. He conducted himself like a gentleman. The message he's sent out is that anyone, having been given proper permission by the club, has a right to listen to what potential suitors have to offer. It's no surprise to me that he prefers the Sutors that he can probably see from the upstairs windows than the other kind and good on the man. If I were a player, this is the sort of manager I'd dream of playing for, someone I'd want to work my guts out for. Someone who shows, and expects loyalty but isn't going to stand in the way of a player's progress if things are done by the book. We're lucky (but deserve) to have him. I wonder if Rooney's reading this.
  7. What a masterful stroke of managerial brilliance. TB has demonstrated his own loyalty, and has ignored the dollars caption on his flight control system. What self-respecting ICT player contemplating a contract offer could ignore that inspired piece of leadership?
  8. Got to hand it to you mate, you got off the fence, stuck your neck out and unwaiveringly nailed your colours to the mast of the right ship long before it sailed.
  9. Right - now give him contract extension...
  10. That Terry has turned down what will be the biggest job offered to an incumbent ICT manager, to reamain at the club shows just how far we have come and also how nuch belief he has in his team, make no mistake this is his team. I have no doubt that Terry will move on but until then he's ours and I'll continue to feel all warm and fluffy.
  11. now get Andy Shinnie signed up and it will be a great week
  12. My first choice would be renegotiating Terry's & Mo's contracts with bonuses in the hope of them leading us in Europe next season.
  13. He was entitled to listen to what they had to say. In case you missed it, he turned them down ffs. I'm sure he will be off one day, it happens. People are also entitled to be happy with the result. He is our boss and he has taken us to where we are today, even if it did hurt a few at the time, so why not celebrate the fact that he listened, he pondered and he still preferred to stay with us, is that not enough for you.
  14. hi all, Thanks for making me welcome here, you seem a great bunch and obviously on an high at the moment with your team. A bit disappointed we missed out on butch but not really a surprise, our board should really have assessed the situation better. Like TB said in the interview with Radio sheffield, had you been in mid table things may have been diffferent. But he really would have been giving a lot up. Saying that had you been in mid table its debatable if we would have contacted him. Will defo keep an eye on your progress from now on and wish you all the success possible. I guess TB's dog can breath easy tonight :D
  15. Not so many fears on that front since the "hands off" notice was included in the official announcement..... "He met ICT chairman Kenny Cameron and indicated that he was committed to seeing out his contract with the club."
  16. Think you're being a bit harsh on Terry there. He conducted himself professionally, spoke to them for the right reasons, decided to stay for the right reasons, and set an example to the players that you can turn down a massive pay rise to stay at a club that has something special about it.
  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15204054 Done.
  18. Best of all, I won't have to follow that darn awful Barnsley forum any more!
  19. Our forum looks a lot better than theirs. He should stay based on that....
  20. Stole it and hooked a few on Twitter as well...

  22. Statement from Caley Jags Together on "Offensive Singing" http://ictsupporterstrust.co.uk/news/19-press-releases/259-offensive-singing-statement Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC issued a statement to fans via their website on 28th December 2012 regarding “Offensive Singing” at the Highland Derby. This statement contained advice from the Police and Procurator Fiscals Office warning that “singing or chants which could be deemed offensive to groups or communities such as travellers are deemed an offence under the law in Scotland and therefore anyone caught singing them is liable to criminal prosecution” In response to a request from fans, as well as our own concerns about the way legislation is being attached to this matter, the Caley Jags Together board have decided to seek legal advice which will be followed by a request for an urgent meeting with Northern Constabulary and the club to establish what is acceptable to sing or chant at football matches between Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC and Ross County FC, and to make the fan’s views about this known. Caley Jags Together will update all fans as soon as possible on this subject, hopefully before the next meeting between the two sides.
  23. There's a whole world of managers out there, beyond our former ones and our ex-players.
  24. Mrs Dude and meself are already booked up for travel and digs as its cheaper the earlier you book. But we would be interested for the Final when we get there.
  25. [anorak on] Just an observation that this topic is onto 15 pages so far, and when the talks resume tomorrow I'm pretty sure it will soon overtake the record of 20 pages for a football thread on this site. That was for the saga of Niculae's departure back in 2008. 2nd place with 18 pages is one in January 2009 about who would be shortlisted to replace Brewster. [anorak off]
  26. You seem to know a lot about him I'm the guy who takes his dog out for walks when he's at work and on holidays....the dog tells me all I need to know.

Fair play to Reef for unearthing the johnny come latelys amongst our support. I find it quite sickening that the very same johnny come latelys are the ones that are the most vocal on merger debates yet they rarely or never attended football at Telford Street or Kingsmills pre-merger. One things for certain there are a fair number of guilty consciences evident on this thread. I'd even go as far as saying I don't particularly trust a section of the older ICT support, judging by the underhand revelations that allegedly went on back then. On a parting note I know very little about track and field but maybe I'll start writing a book about athletics. Dougal
  28. I have long held the opinion that Terry holds some things in life more important than money. I believe the pace and way of life up here suits terry down to the ground...and he cherrishes that.
  29. Its not a format undertaken by the major leagues in Europe, but it might work, cant be any worse than what we have now. Fact is there are too many teams for the population and until this is addressed thorugh mergers and rationalisation then it will always be a struggle for small clubs, although having 1 governing body is long overdue and it will be intersting to see the proposal for cash distibution and how it is more evenly spread. Also understand that if there is league reconstruction, whoever wins SFL3 will stay in the bottom league next season. Apparantly Green wants to move them down to England - if this is the outcome of reconstruction - I'm a supporter lol.
  30. But I did just chuckle at a Barnsley fan's translation of the Terry's comments in the press release : "I had a look, it looked shit, I came back."
  31. Wonder if he'll just take the Rioja instead :-(
  32. Aye the rest of us can be erse lickers
  33. Hopefully the fans will now pay back his loyalty by turning up against Aberdeen to thank him?

in 100 years time I fully expect us to be playing down the bucht. It might take 99 years for that to happen but I'm sure we'll move eventually.

One prime site on Telford Street - I am reliably informed that the other went via Poundstretcher.
  37. Terry was just a bit bored with the Winter Break and thought this would help pass the time....he's not going anywhere.

Yes you are quite right Luke. I thought this thread had run its course over the festive break until it suddenly burst forth again yesterday with this latest attempt to reinvent the wheel - which the inventor insists is square!
  39. Technically we know he has gone to Barnsley....it's just that he won't be staying there beyond tomorrow.

Seems like the real issue here is not so much the numbers of so-called refuseniks, but the far higher numbers of people who are completely indifferent to ICT, those who don't care either way about the club. Whatever spin is put on the attendances, it is rare to find in any footballing city such as Inverness such a high proportion of the population who could not give a toss for its football club.
  41. No idea who he is, Couldn't do any worse than Hill im sure If we dont get Terry we want his Dog
  42. No mention of the team involved. It'll be glory hunting Inverness based Celtic fans. Wankers.
  43. Malpas with Foran? I'm happy with that. If Mo is committed to us then he has my backing. Can't help thinking now that TB has made his intentions clear. If he doesn't go to Barnsley then he's gonna be off sooner rather than later. Shame. A real shame.

Urban myth!! No they werent. Oh yes they most certainly were . I know of several Caley club regulars that were gifted one . good means i have an spl team to support now.
  45. Hi, Barnsley fan in peace, Just read through the page about butcher to Barnsley. Firstly no idea if he will come to us or not and no silly comments about our club is bigger etc. To be honest there are good reasons to be at either club but for me you just have the edge. just like to clear a few things up. SOD was fans favourite and probably the boards first choice, but has SOD himself has stated, they never discussed terms or anything. Its the main view of most fans that he is waiting for his compo to be sorted out with Forest before returning to management. He clearly says its too early. on subject of us selling our best players, Craig Davies was a decent league 2 striker, come to us last year and had a £300k minimum fee in his contract. was ok last season, scored 8 goals this season including 4 against Birmingham and has been crap ever since. his minimum fee has been met and we cant do owt about it, Not many BFC fans are sad to see him go. First touch is very bad, he's lazy and not good enough for championship. The other scot Wiseman is truly Awful and one of the reasons Hill got the sack. Wiseman is a rightback who cant defend, yet Hill played him at center back all season and he has cost us goal after goal. Hill brought him with him from Rochdale and has blindly stuck by him. Theres a thread on our board with everyone in hysterics that Blackpool are buying him. So no were not selling our best players. One plus point we do have is a group of youths who are on long contracts and worth some cash, one lad John stones is already worth more than 3 million with Prem sides already hovering. We actually have a decent team, and if our best players were to be played in their correct positions we could easily climb the league, but Hill has never played the same team twice and at times made 4-5 changes from game to game. I think the main thing in our favour is the success Butcher has had with you lot may give him the confidence that he could save us from relegation and have a real go at the championship. I dont want to put the SPL down, but if Butcher wants to coach at the highest level then the best route to the EPL is via the championship. anyway, whatever happens, Good luck for the rest of the season, great to see some different teams in that second place. Long may it last btw best Barnsley forum is http://v2.barnsleyfc.org.uk where Butcher is the poll leader
