  1. PS - ICT to make play-off final v County. Late Susan goal at Victoria Park to win it!
  2. I imagine Robbo will have learnt a lot from this. It wasn't a great performance and it is disappointing to lose, but I think the game demonstrated that we are capable of competing with the best in the division and that if we can up our game in crucial areas we could do reasonably well. We are still a team where the guys are just getting to know each other. Misunderstandings are therefore inevitable and there were certainly a few of those. I felt Elsdon looked rather unsure of his positioning at times and was a bit hesitant as a result. He showed promise in other respects though. He should grow into the role as he gets to know his team mates. The same goes for Calder who I thought was unlucky to be subbed while Chalmers stayed on. Chalmers showed little in the 90 minutes to suggest he has much to offer the team. It was my first sight of Zschusschen and let's just say that he is is going to have to play a lot better than that if he is going to feature again. Ridgers also had a nightmare of a game in goal. Hopefully he can avoid repeating those moments of madness and perhaps getting a few decent saves under his belt will result in him becoming a rather more reassuring figure between the sticks. Of last season's crop of players, Polworth again had a very poor game, lacking in confidence. On the plus side, we had another composed performance from Seedorf who looks to be the pick of the new crop. Oakley has a good physical presence and showed a willingness to fight for the ball which seemed so totally lacking in Zschusschen, A few defences will find him a real handful and I think Baird may play off him quite effectively. The newest of the new lads, Cooper, also looked lively and showed good touch, awareness and attitude. Vigurs was again a class apart in midfield and it was good to see Draper coming onto his game a bit more as the game progressed. Mackay, I thought, had a good game in central defence. To be honest, I think the chances of us getting back into the premiership first time of asking are very slim. Competing for the play off places would be a decent outcome for the season and it looks to me as though Robbo is building a side that should be able to do that.
  3. Don't say that!!! For the love of God watch what you say about vigurs or you run the risk of incurring the old caley girl wrath, and the red dots of her cleeky minions
  4. Seedorf easily our best player again. Defensively very good , going forward even better. Let's get Raven at fullback with Seedorf in a more advanced position and put the struggling Polworth out of his misery. Cannot believe the rumours that we are looking to offload Raven , surely his wages are not that extortinate , we are not exactly renowned for splashing the cash.
  5. Not going to read to much into this. Not even August yet, lots of new faces and against a more settled team who will undoubtedly be challenging for promotion. I take it we've signed Alex Cooper then?
  6. Vigurs was moaning througout the Stirling game. Petulant and over-rated
  7. Batten down the hatches, it's going to be a stormy old season and we'll be playing against the wind in every game. Early days...but.
  8. Tremarco was clearly the deserving winner of this award. Not starting Fisher earlier probably cost us our place in the league.
  9. ... or the season before. It is really important that local lads can come through the system and succeed. I certainly think Liam has the potential to succeed but he is a little bit away from the level of consistency which would make him into a decent premier division player. IMHO his issue is one of attitude - and I don't mean it in a bad way. I don't agree with those who say he is lazy at times, in fact, at times he maybe tries too hard. It may sound odd, but my take is that he tends to see the game from a fan's perspective rather than a player's. For instance, he has a tendency push the ball too far ahead of him and he gets it nicked away from him. When he does that, we fans tend to make some gesture of exasperation. We do it instantly as a natural reaction without thinking. But Liam does it too. You can see him cursing himself . He maybe looks to the skies before his shoulders slump as he thinks about getting the ball back. The player's mindset bypasses any visible frustration and focusses on instantly trying to retrieve the situation. There are occasions where he loses the ball and by the time he regroups and gives chases, his opponent is long gone. There are also times when he hasn't got the ball that he seems to be watching the game rather than constantly thinking about where he needs to be. As a result he may not be in a good position to receive the ball from a team mate or he fails to pick up the movement of an opposition player. It's not laziness, it's just a loss of focus.
  10. I really approve of the idea of trying out Seedorf in a more advanced, forward role. Good defence is great to have but if you can't score then you can't can't expect to win the game. This player seems to have skill and considerable confidence and having the ability to control the ball and supply the right pass from midfield at the right time to the player in the right position sounds....awesome ; and a recipe for growing success. Schusen is a young, developing player who sounds as if he has a lot to learn and may still be timid and lacking in confidence at this point. My question? Is he ready to be played in the first team when this season is so crucial to us? Sounds like he may also need encouragement; and praise when he does well. When you listen to John Robertson it's re-assuring. He seems so calm and confident and seems to have already decided what he wants and understands what he sees. This leads to decisiveness in a forward-looking manager. Once John gets them clicking then this could be a very good team indeed. My feelings about this year is that we should really get going as quickly as we can. The more success we have early on, then the more respect other teams will afford us and they will perhaps not be quite so keen to attack us and cut us down as quickly as they might otherwise do? Add in the aspect of "urgency" and Bob's yer uncle and Willie's your Wisp.
  11. Totally needs to up his game struggled to make any impact today and looks lost at times playing wide right. The point about loaning him out was a valid one it was the making of Graeme Shinnie but also think that should have been done a couple of seasons ago. Really want him to do well but not sure how patient JR will be.
  12. I wish the club would somehow run a competition allowing a fan to be in the dugout for 1 match. if you have a player with the pace and undoubted skill of Seedorf, then bloody heck use him! Every time we had the ball, certainly in the 2nd half, Robbo had him hugging the touchline looking for the pass or the ball over the top into space. A lot of the time, we chose to pass left for some reason. When Seedorf had the chance to run at the left back, time after time he got the ball into a dangerous area. Oakley seemed to have a bit more presence when he came on than zschusschen(close enough lol) did and for the life of me i dont understand why vigurs is arguing with robbo barely 10 minutes into the match??? Early days yet but I would guess that there could easily be some changes to our lineup come the dundee utd game in 2 weeks.
  13. Mulraney I believe is injured from the Stirling game. Perhaps Robbo sees a lot that we don't during training sessions.
  14. 0 goals from open play in competitive games. That has to be a concern going into the season. I'm sure we can trot out the usual excuses e.g. the league cup group stage is a bit of a glorified friendly, the team is gelling etc. but we need to see more improvement asap it it's going to be a long hard season.
  15. Here's a breakdown of Polworths performance, in terms of goals and assists, by position played for the last couple of seasons. 2015/16 Right midfield - 16 games: 5 goals, 5 assists Attacking midfield - 11 games: 1 goal, 1 assist Central midfield - 8 games: 0 goals, 1 assist 2016/17 Right midfield - 15 games: 2 goals, 4 assists Central midfield - 10 games: 1 goal, 1 assist Attacking midfield - 5 games: 0 goals, 0 assists
  16. See there are a couple of new tartan shops opened in Inverness one in the Eastgate and one opposite Primark. Maybe it would worth making an approach to see if there was any scope to promote our merchandise in there. Worth a shout to try and get some self promotion on the high street before RC decide to capitalize on our apathy. Lets be honest how many tartan scarves can any tourist need, give them want they really want ......a black and white away strip with Seedorf on the back.........Winner.
  17. That may well be one idea that could actually work.
  18. I'm really pleased that you have found a much different experience with him, however let me be the first to point out to you that a paid Sponsor night and a somewhat non obligatory kids meet and greet is hugely different. Of all the times I have been to these, he is the one player I find very difficult to get a picture with or a moment to speak to. Now, yes I totally agree with you, maybe it's purely down to being "quiet and unassuming and not outgoing" I have no problem with that, I appreciate not everyone is comfortable at these types of events, however his attitude on the pitch is publicly NOT "quiet and unassuming" and as far as first impressions go, its increasingly difficult to escape from. It might interest you to know that last season I actually talked my son into getting "Vigurs 11" on his new home strip, as believe it or not I rate him as a player very highly, and where most of my friends were getting Tansey, Draper, Warren etc I genuinely believed Vigurs deserved a bit of support. Lastly you make reference to "personal opinions" which is interesting given that you have publicly berated mine as "noncence" (sp) ...I however will refrain from doing the same to yours as I have no way, or desire to disprove or pour scorn on yours
  19. They should recommission Cath's van and fit it oot with all the club regalia, and then drive all over toon, selling the stuff, along with rolls, butteries, and the like, and the vendor would have a pencil behind his ear, glued on like.
  20. I remember watching a mini-documentary on Rosenborg once and I'm sure they had a cafe (though I think it may have at their stadium). It's a nice idea but we're too backwards in Britain to do something like that. If it was done right and done well I'm sure it'd get plenty of clientele from fans and well wishers and I'd certainly rather pay my money there than the likes of Costa or Starbucks (who certainly don't need your cash). It would have be done well though. A soulless concrete room like the stadium bar or a dump like the Caley Club, would certainly not be blueprints.
  21. Rather too many enigma threads in my view.
  22. Long ball tactics in windy conditions are seldom a recipe for success. Oakley looked decent when he came on but I thought Zschusschen was really poor. Polworth also had a game to forget. Seedorf had another good performance though.

Sorry RiG, but the bit of your post I've underlined is simple unadulterated bull sh*t. I know that Don tried to recruit people (and did) after years of us - Don, Andy, Jack and myself - going to every game home and away to cover it, often at considerable cost and for precious little thanks. Do you know that a lot of the equipment used to give you highlights was bought by the people concerned? That they were paid not a single penny for their efforts? Got absolutely no freebies? Got hassle after hassle from people who really didn't want to be interviewed? Fought to get a better internet connection for the stadium so that we could broadcast highlights? And on a few occasions even paid their own petrol costs. Passwords? least of the problems. And then you tell us that we didn't want help? I'll tell you that I had actually tried to leave that media team so many times that Don and Andy were sick of hearing it because I was spending less and less time with family etc. I couldn't, simply because I could see on one on the horizon that would do the job and I didn't want yet more work foisted upon the rest of the team who are my mates. Don got new guys in and I went (to another unpaid, gladly volunteered matchday job) faster than snow off a dyke. Thanks for covering yourself with "maybe I've picked it up wrong etc." but that doesn't actually justify any of that rubbish. I'm raging that you can put utter tripe on this forum masquerading as considered opinion. It's not and a retraction would be nice. I'll wait.

  25. Never looked like threatening Falkirk today, same old familiar shape and tactics. Very poor team of strangers beaten by a much better much more organised unit. Early days yes, but same old story to come
