  1. Quite incredible that we didn't win that game today yet at the same time it would have been quite incredible had we actually won it because we were absolutely dreadful. Really well worked goal for Alloa after only a few minutes. Some neat build up play down the ICT right saw the ball worked into the feet of Buchanan and quick as a flash he dispatched a curling shot past a static Ridgers into the net. We were almost back in it when a Storey cross, the one good cross he put in all day, found MacGregor only a few yards out but his header was right at MacDonald and he pushed the youngsters effort away from danger. Most of the first half was ICT struggling to create anything of note whilst Alloa defended in numbers and presumably pissing themselves at how bad our attacking play was. Second half was basically an overload exercise as ICT went forward time and time again but with precious little to show until Tremarco latched onto a loose ball from his own corner which had only been partially cleared and he sent a glorious shot into the top corner of the net. Five minutes from the end it looked like we were heading for the top of the league when Tremarco crossed for White to bundle in a header from close range (similar to his goal v Partick) and that was surely going to be it. At least it was until McCart had another brain fart and dallied on the ball when defending and instead of sending it back to Ridgers or clearing it up the pitch he played it out for a throw in. The following long throw was flicked on and Trouten stole in at the back post with Curry asleep to grab a deserved share of the points for Alloa. Donaldson and McCart were really poor today. Despite not being put under much pressure their balls out of defence were absolutely rotten, Donaldson especially, and often set up chances for Alloa to break on us. Storey was poor again and had one decent cross from the flanks. He isn't a winger and struggled there at Partick so why we are persisting with him there is bizarre. MacGregor struggled to create much of note in the middle as Alloa packed the midfield and sat deep. There was zero creativity in the ICT side today to break them down and it would have been very harsh, though thoroughly pleasing, had we won that game. With Queens getting a superb result today and Morton possessing an excellent home record the next couple of games are going to be a lot more difficult than they might appear on paper.
  2. Nothing to do with a reality check we dropped a valuable 2 points today due to bad defending.
  3. Once again Mccart cost us, Ridgers was screaming for the back pass, Mccart ****** about and eventually knocked the ball out for a throw. The next 30 secs were feckin unreal. But it was an awful performance from ICT, so slow and pedantic in building pressure on Alloa, It gave them so much to time get back and get organised in defence. McGregor needs to be on the back burner for a while, wee bit out of his depth today, Also don't know what's going on in defence but Coll and Mccart seem to be out of touch with each other. Today was a game we need to win but didn't really look like winning, have gone back to our old ways of snatching draws from the jaws of a win... it seems so.
  4. I've been his biggest fan but all Jamie McCart had to do was pass the ball back to Mark Ridgers. Why he decided to try and dummy the attacker and play it down the line was stupidity. His touch was poor and he gives away a needless throw in which we don't defend properly. Kind of summed up the game.
  5. Dunno. Probably for telling the ref he was poor.
  6. I thought McGregor was the one bright spot today. He was always looking for the ball and looked our most dangerous attacker in my opinion. James Vincent on the other hand needs to know that it's ok to pass the ball forward. So many backways and sideways passes when we had the chance to move forward.
  7. Just cannot afford to drop points like this at home if we are to be considered genuine contenders. Shocking we could not see this game out and McCart should have done so much better. Positive for me was Keatings making his comeback looks such an intelligent player.
  8. Incredibly frustrating, quite frankly pathetic after all that huffing and puffing we throw away the chance of going top as we can't see out a lead for 5 minutes.
  9. Hi folks, for those who haven't seen it on Twitter, the club will be broadcasting live audio commentary again from the Alloa game. It's the same process as previous - a link should come up on the club Twitter feed shortly before kickoff to a Periscope link. Fingers crossed for a good game and a good result (and for none of the gremlins that plagued us during the QOS game last month). Feedback appreciated.
  10. Very frustrating not to have won that. After conceding a well worked early goal it was clear that we would need to be patient to break down a well organised team defending in numbers. There was certainly no lack of effort throughout the team but we lacked the inventiveness and penetration to bother the Alloa keeper unduly. The pressure eventually told and we got a stunning equaliser from Captain Carl. It seemed strange that the left back was taking corners on the right, but when the ball came back to him he lost no time in smashing the ball across the keeper and into the top left corner - a stunning strike! White then put us in front late on and that should have been us sitting at the top of the table. But no. Rather than focussing on keeping possession we pressed for a third. The result was that we lost possession and McCart was put under a bit of pressure, but he should have done better than conceding a throw. The defence went to sleep for the long throw and Trouten had an easy task of picking his spot. Robbo will be raging and the dropped 2 points might well be crucial later on in the season. Good to see Keatings back and he was unlucky when his excellent late free kick came back off the bar. Both he and Carson introduced greater positivity into the play when they came on and if fit enough I would expect both to start against Morton next week.
  11. Hope the online commentary was better than the result. If you thought the first half was poor viewing, try watching it from that gantry opposite the main stand where, having made the rookie error of sitting on a wet chair, I got hit by rain, wind and then sideways rain. We did have the offer of an umbrella but had I used it I'd have probably sailed across the pitch like Mary Poppins. Having started shivering by 3:30, there was enough second half action that, combined with me standing up, I nearly got the feeling back in my toes. I feel like we got caught cold (ahem) at the start. Having seen TV footage of the opener it's a cracking finish by Buchanan but he finds ridiculous space in the box because after he played the one-two with Cawley (who had escaped McCart with his movement), Rooney strangely chose to go towards Cawley rather than track him. A bit of a shambles to be honest. We dominated possession after that but after MacDonald saved smartly from MacGregor a few minutes later we barely created anything before half-time. The second period was lit up by that extraordinary Tremarco goal. He was out on the right having taken a corner that was cleared back to him, and he almost casually wrapped his left foot around the ball and it fizzed in the far corner off the junction of bar and post (for maximum aesthetic effect!). That's the club's goal of the season competition finished for 2019/20. After that we pretty much pinned them back though last-ditch defending kept us mostly at bay. However we looked like we'd won it when Tremarco whipped in a pearler of a cross and White outmuscled the defender at the back post to head home. Inexplicably though we switched off and blew two points. It seems like either Andy Graham - who has a great goalscoring record from set plays - either wasn't identified beforehand as someone for the watching or simply the players failed to keep tabs on him. He missed a free header at 1-1 when Alloa used a training ground routine to get him unmarked at a corner, and when they got a long throw opportunity he was the inevitable target. However he wasn't challenged for the flick on...and everyone was statuesque except Trouten who had the freedom of the box to smash it home for an equalizer. Massively frustrating as we would have gone top with the win. I felt we struggled badly to break down a very compact and defensive Alloa side; we lacked width and our central midfield pair were not nearly ambitious enough; both Vincent and Trafford spent too much time going sideways and backwards. The introduction of Carson and Keatings did help things in that regard but we missed Welsh's intelligence in possession and Walsh's wing play. All in all a frustrating afternoon, though at least we haven't lost ground on those around us. And at least I'm warmed up now!
  12. Disappointing. So that’s just 1 point from 6 in our home games against the bottom 2 sides?
  13. GOALLLLLLLLL Jordan White
  14. Guess Carl shut me up...
  15. Our next two away games are 26/10 Morton and 29/10 Queen of the South. Book your seats through Facebook or on 07462218717. Or pop in and see us at our table in the Sports Bar today.
  16. In a couple of months the 2010s will be over. What would the ICT Team of the Decade be? I think it's obvious that the 14-15 team would be the basis of the XI. I'll play a 4-2-3-1 as that's probably been the most heavily used formation during the decade. Goalkeeper for me is pretty obviously Ryan Esson. He was a solid keeper for the start of the decade and although he lost his place to Dean Brill around the time the team really took off, I think Esson is the best option ahead of Brill. The other regular keepers have been Mark Ridgers (regular since 2017), Tony Reguero (regular for a season in 2012) and Owain Fon Williams (2015-2017) - I'd rank them in that order. Defenders, I think you have to go with the cup winning season's back four. Left back, Shinnie is clearly the best player we've had at that position, Tremarco is a good player in the second tier and has been a great servant but he's clearly behind Shinnie. Right back, Raven is again clearly the best player for the longest period during the decade, regular from 2012 until 2017 and being a top player during that period. Central defenders, for me Warren and Meekings were our best partnership. Both were excellent bread and butter defenders but Warren was an underrated ball player and his ability to take the ball out and pass was important for the development of that Butcher/Hughes side. I remember when we beat Celtic at Parkhead, he was so composed and controlled on the ball it really helped us withstand the pressure we did face. Meekings was really athletic and quick, from what I've seen of him since leaving injuries have piled up with is sad as he was a really top quality defender. The other options are club legends like Grant Munro and Ross Tokely, both of whom played early in the decade. I just think Warren and Meekings are higher quality and did it for a sustained period of time. Coll Donaldson is perhaps the only player from the current squad who could get anywhere near this XI but I don't think there's a case for him to be in there just yet. The '2' sitting midfielders, I can't see past the cup winners Ross Draper and Greg Tansey. Obviously, Draper has left and signed for our local rivals but that's really our own fault for bollocksing up in 2016/17. From the moment he came in he was a destroyer with massive phsycial presence and was able to dominate teams in the top flight. He was man of the match in our first ever cup final and scored the opener in the first ever top flight Highland derby. Tansey showed glimplses in his first season with us what he could do but in his second spell he really showed it, blossoming with a better team and being able to really impose himself on the league. A threat from set pieces and from range is so valuable as well. The '3' attacking midfielders begins to get a bit more interesting. The middle player was a problem for us for a long time, with guys like Eric Odhiambo and Dani Sanchez playing there but never making it their own. However, for me it's a straight up fight between Andy Shinnie and Ryan Christie. Shinnie basically played a season and a half for us, played 55 games, scored 19 goals, received a Scotland call-up and a nomination for Player of the Season. Christie was also pretty fleeting, breaking into the side in 2014, then becoming integral in 2014/15 before leaving in 2015, loan cut short through injury. For the central position I'd give it to Shinnie, I don't think Christie was as good in 14/15 as Shinnie was in 12/13. If it were a real team you'd obviously play them both but for the sake of argument and having to choose I'd put Christie on the bench. For the wide attackers, you've got a lot of excellent players over the decade. Early on Richie Foran was a dominate player playgin on the left of a '3' and was a huge factor in our promotion. He dropped back to play deeper in midfield as his career progressed but he was a great weapon from 2010 until about 2014 , after which the injuries just piled up. You also have Jonny Hayes, who was dynamite for us in the promotion winning season and then in the top flight. He's developed into a more defensive player as he's got older but he was a huge threat and carried most of our attacking threat in season 11/12, without him then we'd have faced being dragged into relegation discussions. Aaron Doran has to be in the chat as well, for a few years he was one of the leading assist providers in the top flight, a really dangerous player. Marley Watkins also deserves it for his heroic 14/15 showing where he played all across the three and up front as well for a confusing period when we basically had no strikers (remember that? We sold Mckay and then waited two months to sign Ofere and in the meantime just played with a winger up front and still won the cup and finished 3rd). He was probably a better athlete than Hayes or Doran and was a threat with his pace, aerial ability and superb technique. I loved him but both Hayes and Doran did it longer. I'd probably redo this every time I try but now I'd probably go with a '3' of Foran on the left, Shinnie in the middle and Watkins on the right. In a real team you'd play Christie somewhere but in terms of the best players and biggest contributors I'd put those three. Up front, it's really a two horse race between Adam Rooney and Billy Mckay. Rooney played a season and a half in the time frame and scored 37 goals in 61 games. Mckay played for a lot longer period and scored 66 goals in 145 games. Mckay had a deadly run though with 23, 18 and 10 goals in his last two and a half seasons. I'd say Mckay was probably a better all round player and was a better team player than Rooney but Rooney was deadly. It's a tough one but I'd shade with Mckay as he did for a longer time period. The only other strikers we've had who've scored significantly are Miles Storye with 11 goals in 15/16, Gregory Tade with 9 in 11/12, Ofere scoring 5 in 7 in 2015 and Jordan White and George Oakely both scoring 7 and 8 since we got relegated. I don't think anyone would seriously put those guys in a decade team. Special mention goes to Alex Fisher though, who scored 6 goals in the last 7 games in the relegation season after not getting a chance for months despite being fully fit. Thanks Obama Foran. So there you have it, my ICT team of the decade. ---------------------------Esson------------------------- --Raven---Meekings----Warren----Shinnie--- -----------------Draper------Tansey------------------ ----Watkins--------Shinnie-------Foran----------- --------------------------Mckay--------------------------- Subs Brill Donaldson Doran Hayes Fisher (just to stare at Foran shaking his head whenever he meets his gaze). What would your 2010s XI be?
  17. They also knocked out Queen of the South. We underestimate them at our peril.
  18. Hello, Please see below link for ICT caricatures. https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SocCartoonz?fbclid=IwAR1t8AxH7EGcTVqimgzfA0GlnUQWrgoqeUvWNkysYWUC8KEbT3B8CuDXXlY
  19. Extremely poor performance today despite considerable effort to rectify the loss of the early goal. Carl surprised everyone with his finish including himself. In days gone by he has scored a few for us but that was his finest. If there is one lesson we should have learned again today - do not underestimate the diddy teams. After last weeks cup result the team probably thought they had an easyish game especially with Flannigan suspended. Hopefully lesson learned. We do not want to go up the table and then be unable to sustain it. We actually made progress today. If the team do not get over confident next week after two previous positive results against Morton this season then hard work and a good result will keep us up with Ayr and United and ahead of Dundee.
  20. Gosh Alan I actually agree with you...lol
  21. Jamie McCart can hang his head in shame for cocking up at the Alloa goal. He should have passed back to Ridgers and we would still be top of the league. Pissed off at this poor decision making.
  22. Reality check needed? I understand the frustration at lack of concentration to hold out the last 5 minutes for the win (cold and tired perhaps, I would be) but despite everything we are 3rd just 1 point off the top! This is a ruddy tough league with everyone capable of taking points off everybody else, bet the Ayr and Arab fans are a bit more p'd off than we are...
  23. Aye game management guys. 5 minutes left you don't need a third. Keep possession and see it out... another learning opportunity hopefully registered. Anyone know when Walsh likely to be back ?
  24. 20,000pounds? A miniscule reward? No! Any sum of money now should be music to the ears of the bankers of ICT. Beggars can't be choosers and overdrafts have a tendency to get larger and larger....unless the interest is paid each month and the deficit is cut even a wee bit. So, if that sum cuts deeply into the accumulated interest then IMHO, that's great news. And the fame of our team winning again cannot be underestimated , especially to the fans who hitherto have not exactly been coming to the Caley park in droves.
  25. A game we ought to have won. Poor goals to lose defensively. Alloa played fairly well but really didn't create much which made losing those goals more disappointing. Tremarco's goal was superb. Keating's free-kick crashed off the bar and that would have sealed it late on. Caley looked to win it and will surely do so more as the season goes on with that approach.
  26. White’s goal unfortunately does not mask the fact that we were considerably worse up front than last week with Curry. Some of this is due to the early goal which allowed Alloa to park the bus for much of the game. We definitely lack edge in this position and have limited alternative options however with more movement we are likely to create more. For too much of the game the Alloa defence was able to keep the game in front of them.
  27. I...I just have no words...how in the ever loving f*ck can we not hold onto a lead FOR 5. MINUTES.
  28. If only we could have held on with results going for us
  29. We were top of the league but now we're no !!
  30. Goal! Inverness CT 2, Alloa Athletic 1. Jordan White (Inverness CT) header from very close range to the bottom right corner. Assisted by Carl Tremarco. Top of the League finish ?
  31. Wow, top of the league if nothing changes. Come on lads, get another one to be sure.
  32. Queen of the South 4-0 Dundee Utd Dunfermline 2-2 Ayr Utd also Celtic 6-0 Gypos Albion Rovers 1-1 Fort William - Gabriel Hastings (Mon the Fort)
  33. Roddy MacGregor OFF James Keatings ON
  34. Charlie Trafford OFF David Carson ON
  35. He must have seen this post at half time
  36. GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL CARL TREMARCO
  37. Old saying.....never bet on your own team
  38. Indeed, who'd have thought it possible.
  39. Now that was a completely inept first half performance.
  40. Glad it’s a non Championship side and a home game makes us favourites. I agree with DD, no room for complacency but hopefully we progress to the semis and then the final. Momentum is important.
  41. In a constructive way ?
  42. Ref was poor.. What was robbos' yellow for ?
  43. Clocks go back next week.
  44. I think the only team of the decade we have to look at really, is the 2014/15 one. There's no better squad, might swap out a couple of those who didn't exactly make an impact for some of our current players, like Shaun and Coll. Adam Rooney could also be thrown into the mix too. Billy is questionable, sure he scored many dozens, however, he's a snake, didn't show any remorse or "Sorry, it's just my job" when he scored against us...love hate relationship really...
