  1. Not long home after a good away trip despite two road closed diversions on way home just to delay us even more. A good three points and plenty Dobbie misses so we are well pleased we made the effort to travel, after being at Greenock on Saturday. Enjoyable craic and team played so much better than against Morton. More of the same for the next few Saturdays please ICT.
  2. And we made more noise than the Bridge End on a good day. Another good battling performance. We didn't ever have control of the game apart from a couple of spells either side of the opening goal but we were a threat on the break throughout. Trafford played well and Carson was excellent alongside him. Flashes of brilliance from McGregor, but he struggled with the physicality of the game at times. Really well taken goals, Toddy lashed his home with the last kick if the ball. We're still in touch at the top. Win on Saturday and we start dreaming again.

BDU, I agree with much of your post; but on the subject of fans spinning this situation, I don't. The moment you start using terms like "true supporters" or "bad supporters" (or any other adjective) then you are immediately pigeon holing groups of fans....intentionally or otherwise. When you then attach those comments to posts relating to those who attended a costly dinner, it's not spin to suggest that the person posting believed those at the dinner to be "truer" fans than those who were not.....consciously or otherwise. If the club and it's representatives simply valued all fans on the basis that each gives what they can, when they can...then perhaps that generates a better vibe and encourages more people to further support the club.

This thread just demonstrates how some fans will spin any situation to be whatever they want. Most say I am a critic of the club but in no way can that ill worded FB post be deemed as a slight or suggestion that we have fans more worthy than others based on want or ability to spend money or proritise social events/networking over the matches themselves. Time to get over it and stop looking for hidden messages IMO. There is a valid point about why is the club not using its own facilities to showcase such events, afterall there is an external catering contract and hospitality areas - it really would have been a marketing opportunity to at least say 'we can do fancy corporate type days' and show some of those in the area with funds that the stadium is a viable option for their businesses events too.

North Star going to be crying about Robbo doing the punditry in an ICT top ?
  6. Should have been 40. What happened to Red Card? Writing more song lyrics presumably.

Some people then need to apologise if they have spoken, or put on Facebook, words which on hindsight were inappropriate. We await.

Lady Gaga and The False Eleven New mini-pod. Please bear with (or skip) the car noise in the first 5 minutes. It gets better once we hit the Billy Houliston Lounge. And some of the language is atrocious...
  10. Great result. Top 4 all won but we had one of the toughest fixtures tonight.
  11. The mighty caley fans. Respect.

Great bloke, who many years ago made my claim to fame happen, after playing football for Ardersier I was enjoying a beer in the Gun Lodge, I'd known David before and got chatting to him, he then introduced me to Ozzy Osbourne, who with his band were recording at Flemington in Dave's studio! Played a couple of games of darts with the band then had to leave. Boys at work didn't believe me until Dave came in last year and verified it.

We have, for quite some time, been subjected to messages from the club which fall into two categories.... 1. Constantly seek to blame "fans not showing up" for all of our woes and threatening what might happen if they don't support the club. This narrative is one which threatens people who aren't coming to games anyway....so if things deteriorate, they're not going to give any more of a hoot than they do now. As such, it's a narrative which will achieve nothing positive. 2. Generates a sense that the more money you give the club, the better a fan you are. The club have been milking the existing fanbase for about as much as they can for a long time, so to suggest that we now have some kind fo fan class system based on the level of financial support an individual affords is only going to alienate the very people the club needs now more than ever. If you want to rally a support then look back to Terry Butchers time with ICTFC. He was a man who rarely made comment about people not coming to games and/or supporting the club; choosing instead to concentrate on praising those who did. It's something he does even to this day and if you look at the recent video doing the rounds from Ross Grant where Butcher is interviewed, he talks about how great the fans were who supported the team and not decrying the fact there wasn't more of them. I have spoken to a few people at the club about this in the last few months and tried to explain/warn that it comes off exactly how this facebook post by Jim Oliver has been received and interpreted by many. IMO, ill-advised and poorly crafted comments such as this...and the wider narrative being employed by those speaking on behalf of ICTFC right now...is doing more damage than performances and results on the park which have been pretty decent apart from a couple of recent blips. Time to flip the script.

You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
  15. Hot Toddy warms the 39. Inverness made four changes from the defeat at Greenock as Aaron Doran, Nikolay Todorov, Charlie Trafford and Roddy MacGregor came into the side. Miles Storey, Jordan White, and James Vincent made way with James Keatings sitting this one out on the artificial surface. Queens made one change with Abdul Osman getting his first start, replacing Lewis Kidd in the starting XI. With just over 1200 fans in the stadium and thirty-nine in the away end, it was the hosts that started strongly and Mark Ridgers was forced to deny Stephen Dobbie from a tight angle in the first couple of minutes. David Carson replied for Inverness in the fourth minute but McCrorie saved well in the bottom left corner, and Dobbie once more was dangerous as he shot over after a set piece. It's a frantic start from both sides and Roddy MacGregor shot narrowly over the top right corner. Russell Osman couldn't keep the ball down following a corner as the opportunities continued for both sides. It'll be a miracle if this game remains goalless as Jack Hamilton shoots over. Visiting captain Carl Tremarco took a knock after twenty minutes but continued after treatment. Approaching the half hour and a Nikolay Todorov header was comfortably gathered by McCrorie in the home goal. Hot Toddy.......... Inverness drew first blood when Aaron Doran scored low to the left with a curled effort from the edge of the box after some neat interplay involving Donaldson, MacGregor, Curry and MacGregor again with the penultimate touch before Doran swept the ball beyond the keepers right hand. Just before the break a good run from David Carson brought Inverness a corner but Queens kept the deficit to one goal as the half time whistle sounded. Half Time 0-1 Connor Murray replaced Michael Paton at the start of the second half and within a couple of minutes Dobbie had dragged a shot wide at the back post after good work by El Bakhtaoui. The hosts were looking to to get back on level terms and Kevin Holt had two efforts within a minute that both missed the target. As the pressure mounted on the Inverness defence, Dobbie fired one across the face of the goals that went inches wide. Mark Ridgers denied Jack Hamilton with a superb fingertip save to keep Inverness ahead. The Caley Jags broke the current trend and McCrorie saved from Curry after Roddy MacGregor fed him. Shaun Rooney was the first into the refs book around the hour and Miles Storey entered the fray at the expense of Mitch Curry. McCrorie saved an effort from Carson as Inverness responded to the Queens pressure at the start of the second period and at the other end Dobbie headed over. Scorer Aaron Doran was replaced by Tom Walsh with just over twenty minutes left but it was the hosts that continued to press for the equaliser as Dobbie tried his luck from range, volleying wide. With five minutes left Dobbie sliced one wide and El Bakhtaoui saw an effort saved by Ridgers in the last minute of normal time. Tom Walsh almost added a second for Inverness but McCrorie was equal to it although he had no chance moments later when Nikolay Todorov crashed home a James Vincent feed to end the game and ensure Inverness had an enjoyable journey back up the A9. What a great result after the indifferent form shown against Morton on Saturday. That sets it up nicely for the game on Saturday against Dundee United. Other results tonight Alloa Athletic 0-3 Dundee Dundee Utd 1-0 Partick Thistle Dunfermline 2-0 Arbroath Morton 2-3 Ayr united Match reaction and video........ Really well taken goals, Toddy lashed his home with the last kick if the ball. The goals...... Managers reaction from BBC Sport Queen of the South manager Allan Johnston: "We started well first half then Inverness get a goal which is a bit sloppy from our point of view. I thought second half we were on the front foot for the majority of it and probably should have got an equaliser. But the first goal in this league is vital." Inverness CT manager John Robertson: "We had to be lively because Queen's were bubbling after their win here against United. I thought second half Queen's pushed on to us but we defended really well and we looked a threat on the break. We took the chances at one end and didn't make any mistakes at the other." 17. The only thing upped in Wetherspoons are the toilets. Lizi - It was a piece of sarcasm, linked to the finest restaurant in Dumfries, a recent Drumossie Hotel event. As one of the Dumfries 19 I salute you and all the others xx
  18. He was being a true supporter by choosing a meal over the game ?

Maybe though that post is the last in a long line of the same kind of vibes?
  21. A rare away day for me! Great to get the 3 points but a generally scrappy game. Both sides had periods of pressure but the difference was that we took our chances and Queens didn’t. They really need to find a decent striker- that Dobbie’s sh*te.
  22. Hats off to the 39 caley fans at the game. ?‍♂️

David Balfe, in the aforementioned "Bring it on Home" extended version (B-Side) at 4mins 30secs, predicted that ICTFC would qualify for Europe.

Why not just hold the event at the stadium. There is a function room and also a bar. Keep the money inside the club instead of putting money behind a hotel bar.

Ridiculous to have organised this event when we were away to Morton. Fans had to make a choice and those that decided to travel to Greenock to support the team are obviously not regarded as true supporters. Whereas people who were given free tickets to this bash are the future. Look forward to seeing them en masse in Dumfries on Tuesday night.
