  1. I had to spend about 15 minutes in the car trying to collect myself before I could drive back. What an utterly bonkers match. Clear red card for Benedictus and if Broadfoot did have him by the throat, whilst I can understand his anger, it sounds like we were lucky to avoid a dismissal as well. I didn't even know Williamson had been sent off I think I was trying to breathe normally again at that point. We were a mess at the back for much of that game and I felt we gifted Raith their goals by not dealing with balls forward and MacKay not really covering himself in glory for the first and looked weak at the second as well. I guess Raith will feel the same about our goal with Thomson looking really weak on the high ball that led to the goal. We were absolutely out of that game until the red card. Our tactics seemed to consist of someone trying to dink a ball over the top of the Raith defence and hope that Samuels or Mckay could latch onto it. It took about 8 unsuccessful attempts before the ICT support made clear their feelings that it wasn't working. Looked like Chalmers first strike was deflected over Thomson but who cares. Limbs in the away end as we thought we grabbed a scarcely deserved point but even better was to follow as Chalmers hit a lovely low drive sweetly past Thomson. Incredible limbs and a charge down the McDermid stand to celebrate with the players. You love to see it! A simply mind boggling afternoon which saw us grab a massive 3 points but it papered over the cracks of a largely poor performance in which we got the benefit of the doubt with some questionable refereeing decisions.

  2. Having reflected on the goals conceded today, I can't help feeling that Cammy could have done better with both of them. I appreciate that this view might not be popular as, prior to today, he has been very solid since he came into the team but, in my view, we should be going with Ridgers, asuuming he is fully fit, as the more experienced "keeper for the remaining games of the season.

  3. Yes, now we have two wins under our belt, with 6 goals scored, let's concentrate on a pedantic argument about our name

  10. The never give up attitude after lots of hoofball was getting us nowhere gave us two great goals from Chalmers and stole the game, just fantastic! We have now won our first two games this year but still a lot to do. We havn't faired so well playing teams in the lower half of the league so this has to change with our run in starting next week at home against Dunfermline.

  11. Looking at the remaining fixtures, on paper we have the easiest run in, playing only one of the top 5 (Killie), and five of the bottom 5. Killie play four of the top 5 ( us, Partick, Arbroath and Raith), and only 2 of the bottom 5. Arbroath play three of the top 5 ( Raith, Partick and Killie) and three of the bottom 5. Partick play three of the top 5 ( Killie, Arbroath and Raith) and four of the bottom 5. Raith play three of the top 5 (Arbroath, Partick and Killie) and three of the bottom 5. I know that in this crazy league any team can beat anyone else (whether they are currently in the top 5, or bottom 5), but everything now is firmly in our own hands if we can maintain some consistency, so let's all get behind the team for the remaining games, to help them secure a good play-off position, and then, "who knows".

  12. I understand the tactics now. Confuse the opposition by using as many subs as you can and change formation so much that the opposing team don't know what's going on .Ah the down side, well we don't know what formation we are playing either and that is why passes keep going astray.Justgoing to enjoy the win for now and grateful Chalmers chose to shoot twice and not pass.

  13. Honestly didn't see that win coming, despite the promising start and long spells of first half possession- who knew Chalmers could be so deadly twice from nearly the same spot on the pitch! Credit to Raith for blowing it big style - kicked off by the straight red for Bene( commentators seethe now). Persisistent time wasting came back to bite them, and with Dodds throwing subs on like confetti it seemed to further confuse Raith who, like their mates doing the commentary were marvelling at how the Caledonian Thistle ( hi Sergei!) players were always changing position on the pitch, it was hard to tell who was playing where , which if you'd been privy to most of our games this year it's a natural effect of not having much of a plan or formation. Fluid, I think they described it as. A lot of flak directed at the ref, but even with replays the poor quality of stream combined with camera angles and sun made it hard to definitely argue with a lot of them. Certainly worth waiting for the last 5 minutes or so, for the late winner and another red card into the bargain. Oh, the hopes are rising already.

  15. Well, what a finish!. Didn't see that coming, but very well done lads. A win that should give us every confidence for the run in.

  16. Yo! What a finish. Well done that man Chalmers. Back in the top 4. If we go on a run now that would be perfect. Topsy turvy or what?

  18. Well well well. I didnt see that coming 20 minutes ago. We maybe didn't deserve all three points but I wll happily take them. A bit of breathing space against Raith and the gap narrowed against Partick. A much better day than it looked a wee while ago. We will have to play, and especially defend, much better for the rest of the season but much to celebrate this evening.

  24. Chalmers to the rescue as Raith see Red The scrap for play-off places intensified as Inverness produced a smash and grab raid at Stark's Park. Rovers had led 2-1 at the interval through Connolly and Poplatnik with Sutherland scoring between those goals. Kyle Benedictus saw red with twenty minutes remaining and it looked like the game was slipping away from Inverness as they entered the 90th minute. Step forward substitute Logan Chalmers who single handedly won the game for the visitors with two outstanding goals. Both strikes hit with power, accuracy and a deadly left foot from distance. Not bad for your first goals for the club. Raith ended the game in total disarray as Ben Williamson was also sent off. Partick were humped 4-0 by Accies and we jump above them to third but Killie and Arbroath power on at the top of the table with wins. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Inverness were still without midfielders Scott Allardice and Roddy MacGregor although the club have stated that MacGregor could be back in full training soon. Inverness were unchanged from the side that beat Arbroath 3-0. Which meant that Cammy Mackay kept Mark Ridgers on the bench. Raith had Ethan Ross back in attack with Varian and Poplatnik and a strong bench although only seven on it. A beautiful Spring afternoon in Kirkaldy as the temperatures soared and greeted the teams as they took to the field. Inverness in their favoured pink strip started the day one point ahead of the dark blue Rovers. And it was Inverness that set the ball rolling at 3:00pm. The visitors were first to threaten inside a minute when Doran and Hardy combined inside the box before it appeared that Hardy's shot came back off the woodwork before bouncing to safety. Open start to the game from both sides who were on the front foot from the off. Raith opened the scoring after the first corner. It was cleared to outside the box but Aidan Connolly drove towards goal where it looked as though it squirmed under Cammy Mackay and into the net. Looks like a blunder from the keeper inside a busy box. Joe Hardy came close to an equaliser but Macdonald did well to save and then denied Sutherland on the follow up. Keeper Jamie MacDonald had to be replaced after an injury forced him out of the game in a clash with Doran. Robbie Thomson replaced him. Shane Sutherland tapped in after an Aaron Doran corner but the leveller was short lived as Matej Poplatnik put Raith back in front minutes later. Sloppy defending by Inverness once more. Half Time: 2-1 Rovers were all over us like a rash at the start of the second half as we struggled to get a hold of the ball. A couple of efforts fired over the visitors bar were warning enough and Austin Samuels came on for Joe Hardy ten minutes into the half. Our attempts at creating anything were becoming predictable and time after time we wasted balls forward which were mopped up easily by defenders or substitute keeper Robbie Thomson. So, long aimless ball after long aimless ball was proving to be a complete waste of time one hour into the game and it was becoming more difficult to see where a goal might come from. An opportunity did materialise from one of those dubious offside interplays but Mackay bounced the ball just past the post as he was flattened on the edge of the box. Cammy Mackay did well to turn a shot round the post for a corner as Rovers broke forward and they were reduced to ten men when Kyle Benedictus was sent off for a rash challenge on Kirk Broadfoot who reacted angrily and was yellow carded. A scramble in the Raith box failed to produce a goal as Rovers managed to clear their lines calmly. Austin Samuels shot over from the edge of the box as Inverness became more desperate in their efforts to level the game as we approached the eighty minute mark, unfortunately our final ball left a lot to be desired. Time after time the final ball would skip through for a goal kick and another wasted chance. It was a difficult watch to be honest, even against ten men. Out of the blue, Logan Chalmers scored a beauty after a corner found him outside the box some twenty five yards out on the left side. He looked up and sent a beauty dipping into the net, unbelievable strike. Even more unbelievable, Logan Chalmers scored another peach from nearly the same position. This time he arrowed a low strike into the bottom corner for another superb goal. A daisy cutter on an artificial pitch, that's a first. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Raith's Williamson then joined Benedictus for an early bath with seconds remaining. What a turnaround at the end as Raith finally lost their discipline but it took two spectacular goals from on loan striker Logan Chalmers to win the points when it looked like we were heading for defeat and a disappointing performance. It might be seen as papering over the cracks for now, but I'll take that over a disappointing defeat. Raith ended the game with nine men as Ben Williamson was sent off with the last puff of the whistle, their search for a win over Inverness heading towards 22 years and counting. MotM might well go to Chalmers for his two late strikes as prior to that we looked incapable of breaking down Rovers, even when they were reduced to ten men. 25. Even at this early stage it's looking extremely likely that the Premiership side in the play offs will be St Johnstone. I hope that, from the point of view of being as prepared as possible, one of the coaching team will take in a couple of their league matches just in case we prove good enough or lucky enough to make the play off final.

  26. I've always enjoyed the Raith commentators - no matter what they call us - although it wasn't the usual second man today. One of them before the match said "The ref today is one of my favourites, Colin Steven. And if you detected any sarcasm in that, it was purely intentional!".

  27. I know it is a big ask, but I've just been thinking about our first time moving up to the top flight and how ICT seemed to come out of nowhere in the last few games to claim the prize. I'll never forget the pitch invasion while we waited for the helicopter to continue its journey to Inverness. The teams above us will be getting nervy now and the boys have nothing to lose by throwing everything at it. C'mon ICT - you can do it.

  30. Partick getting thumped a real bonus. Good day for us after all. Now we are third and need to keep the winning run going. Not pretty but I will take the three points happily (and sorry all for saying I’d settle for a draw earlier!). Two great goals by Chalmers. Arguably more than we deserved but Raith were quite cynical at times and didn’t like the ref seeing through their tactics. Roll on next Saturday!!

  39. Tomorrow is definitely a game we cannot afford to lose and also one we really need to win. We should be aiming for second, at worst, not fourth if we genuinely have promotion aspirations. Hopefully last week’s result has given the squad much needed confidence and they kick on from that. Our record against Raith over 90 minutes is excellent. Now is not the time to blow it. After tomorrow, 5 of our last 6 games are against the bottom 5 so we need momentum to build a (surprising given the last 3 months) challenge for as high a position as we can manage.

  40. Scenes in the away end Flashbacks to the 4-3 game when Foran scored. Thought we were the better side first half although there was a lack of intensity, obviously Dodds thinks they train well so just treat matches like training sessions. Second half we were miles off it and would have got booed off if the game had ended at 1650. Wee Billy must have a sore neck watching all those hoofs going over his head. Aaron’s finished and Broadfoot has played too many games this season for an old man. First two subs made no difference but Cammy and Walsh coming on did. Don’t usually criticise refs but I’ve observed Colin Steven since he started in the non league and he’s consistently hopeless.
