  1. It's not the players that need to learn its the tactics that are letting us down. Just about any half decent manager I've ever listened to says that being 2-0 up is a very dangerous position to be in and you don't sit back trying to defend it.

  2. I’m still trying to process what just happened there. We created and missed so many chances against a poor Alloa side who were making mistakes all over the pitch. We eventually and deservedly get to 2-0, then make substitutions and completely fall apart, time wasting for the last 15 minutes to cling on for the draw. Sadly every substitution weakened us. Alloa could attack at will down their left where we had C Mackay right mid and Bray right back, neither with the physicality to stop anything. Strange decisions from the manager there. Two points dropped.

  3. Not at the match so can only go on posts entered. Loosing a 2 goal lead well into the second half looks and feels like a missed opportunity. Shutting up shop would have been the wisest plan, and maybe the attending fans can advise if we tried that (in vain), or went out to get a third goal? Either way I see this result as more of a positive. Away to one of the better league teams, artificial pitch, score and fight out a draw. Young team and hopefully they learn the next time they’re in that position to see it out.

  4. Yawn. Same as multiple games last season- get into the lead, make defensive substitutions, lose said lead. He is incapable of learning from his mistakes.

  5. First half at Alloa Once the early posturing was over, it was a birthday gift from Danny Devine as he lashed in the opening goal from distance in the seventh minute to give the visitors the perfect start. What a strike from Danny into the top corner. Boom and Happy Birthday! Musa Dibaga saved from Cameron O'Donnell two minutes later at the expense of a corner and Billy Mckay put a header wide after fifteen minutes. Adam MacKinnon was denied by PJ mid-way through the half when the keeper parried his strike away for a corner. On the stroke of half time Adam Brooks went through at an acute angle but his effort was saved at the near post and Mckay was then blocked before MacKinnon shot over from a tight angle. Alloa were seeing plenty of the ball in the opening half but it was the visitors that went in at the break a goal to the good and good value for that lead. HALF TIME: 0-1

  9. A bit of Recreation at the Indodrill Matchday 6 has Inverness travelling to Clackmannanshire to face one of the top sides in the table and a team we often struggled against away from home through the years, especially in more recent times. With events off the field of play casting further dark shadows over the future of the club, it's a tough ask for the players to remain focussed when their futures are at stake thanks to the incompetence and now unrivaled power hunger of our former tyrannic leaders. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match/Ticket Bus (10:00 am) Info Investment Topic on CTO Payer Sponsorship on CTO Hospitality v Cove Rangers ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Venue H2H v Alloa Pld Won Drn Lst For Agst + / - Home 20 8 10 2 36 22 +14 Away 22 11 5 6 45 22 +23 Neutral 1 0 1 0 4 4 0 Total 43 19 16 8 85 48 +37 We do have the edge over Alloa, but that was in a previous life before Gardiner & Co decimated our club. Our new look squad will find a battle hardened Wasps a difficult byke to cycle, like we often did over the years and they will no doubt have a sting in their tail. Our last meeting was in the Championship in season 20/21, and we have lost twice and drawn three of our last five encounters. They came from behind three times in normal play then again in extra time to take the game to a penalty decider. Alloa took the lead in 20 minutes when Gary Clark hit a low ball past Les Fridge from 15 yards. Barry Wilson equalised in 29 minutes with a neat chip over the keeper. A defensive error let in Mark Wilson to score Alloa's second in 33 minutes but Paul Sheerin equalised from the penalty spot just after half time. This lasted 2 minutes before Martin Cameron made it 3-2 with a 15 yard angled volley. Another penalty goal by Sheerin made it 3-3 in 56 minutes. 14 minutes into extra time Alloa again took the lead when Martin Cameron beat the defence and ran on to score. Paul Sheerin completed his hat trick 8 minutes from time with a 16 yard shot. It was 4-4 on penalties after the regulation 5 attempts each. Alloa keeper Mark Cairns was the hero when he scored to make it 5-4 then saved Mike Teasdale's penalty. The Cup was on its way to Alloa after an exciting match. Report by Ian Broadfoot The Season so far ALLOA Athletic: D D W W D Alloa are unbeaten and they began the League campaign with draws at home to Queen of the South and away to Dumbarton followed by a home win over Stenhousemuir and another win away to Annan at the same ground we lost 1-0. Last time out they drew 0-0 at Gayfield. Last week was Challenge Cup action and Alloa pulled off a shock 1-3 win over Partick Thistle who had opened the scoring through our olde 'friend' Brian Graham. However, three second half goals from Kevin Cawley (65', 76') and Scott Taggart (90'+5 pen) gave the Wasps a tremendous result and a home tie against Arbroath in the next round. That was Cawley's 79th & 80th goals for Alloa. INVERNESS CT: D L D D W Our season got off to a slow start with a draw at home to Dumbarton followed by a penalty defeat at Annan. Another two draws against Montrose (h) and Kelty Hearts (a) before our first win of the season over Queen of the South at the Caledonian Stadium a fortnight ago. Last weekend we beat Stirling Albion 3-0 to send us into a fourth Rnd tie away to Livingston thanks to a brace from Adam Brooks and a strike from Adam MacKinnon. Alloa'a line up in their recent league encounter with Annan Athletic shows some well experienced players in there, notably strikers Conor Sammon and Kevin Cawley. Former Morton defenders Calum Waters, Scott Taggart and midfielder Luke Donnelly are now at Recreation Park. Stefan Scougall is also well experienced having been at St Johnston and Carlisle United in more recent years. Inverness have one or two filtering back into the squad. Jack Newton has returned from Dundee United after getting injections in his knee without requiring a major operation. Keith Bray and Luis Longstaff will also join the squad again after injury. I would imagine Big Musa will retain the gloves whilst Newman proves his fitness on the bench with the other two returnees joining him on the sidelines.

  10. Yngwie sums it up nicely above. Coasting until Ferguson's tactical calamities (plural). This league is here for the taking but we will go nowhere with him at the helm. A massively frustrating outcome given where we were with 20 to go.

  13. Why do we keep using the young players as an excuse? Only Macloed started the match. There is one issue but the powers that be can do nothing about it. We’re a full time side struggling in a part time division

  14. This league is there for the taking, but sadly not by us with DF in charge. A season just to survive off the pitch, I suppose. Hopefully DF’s contract expires at the end of the season (does it?) and we get a decent manager in who knows something about winning and positive football to get us up next season. By which time I guess we’ll have to be part-time?

  15. Yes, that was a really poor, losing two quick goals after being 2 up midway through second half. Although it is a very tight league at the minute I fear we are going to have to fight (and improve) to stay in it!

  20. Sadly, if we had any kind of half competent board in place over the last few years it would have never come to this as it would have been picked up and he would have been fired long ago due to his gross incompetence. It was pretty clear after a year or two that Gardiner was not only utterly useless but was actively holding ICT back.

  21. May not reach its target quite as quickly as Aaron Doran's!! This conversation does however highlight one area where our former CEO has succeeded, and on that front, he has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. He has managed to get an entire city, not just the supporters of the club, to revile and despise him and that loathing also spreads nationally and internationally. I guess Dundee and Hearts were just the warmup. Personally, anytime I hear the name, I seethe more than Derek Adams on a bad day. I guess he is trying to get every penny he can out of us, because unless it is Ketan, then a quick google of his name would bring up so many red flags that any employer in almost any field should quickly say no thanks. Or will he use that £140K to fund his lawyers to get google to remove him from search results. I really hope AS finds something in the forensic audit to wipe the smirk of his face, or maybe we can charge him a £20 admin fee for each of the 7000 unread emails? and, it has to be said, who in the **** accepted a 12 month notice period from anyone. If you would not put someone on 12-month notice, then you don't accept a resignation with that term. We tossed players aside like rubbish, yet the one position that should have been put in the dustbin is lining up for a golden handshake. feckin' unbelievable.

  24. I thought that one of the main reasons for creating a separate Concert Company was to protect the Football Company from any financial misfortune. On that basis, it seems difficult to see how the football club could be liable for money that may have been loaned to the now defunct CC. If Gardiner did lend money to the CC, then I would take a huge drink of schadenfreude at the thought that he has been hoist with his own petard and finds himself in the same position as a list of honest local traders who were out of pocket when a company in which he played a central role failed and collapsed. I trust that any audit will be thorough and forensic in the extreme, because among other things it is absolutely necessary to establish whether there has been any activity that might be judged negligently incompetent or even criminal, and which might therefore become a potential cause for legal proceedings. In that event, perhaps any such proceedings could be held at the Caledonian Stadium where a sell-out crowd - unlike the previous concerts - would generate record profits. That audit could perhaps start by addressing how a company that was meant to be economising could lose over £3 million in three years, including, in 2023-24, a massive £1.7M which means that what it spent in that year was around 75% more than it earned.

  25. Sounds like all the parasites are crawling out of the woodwork. Robbo has a brass neck considering we stuck by him through difficult times and even created a nothing, well-paid, BS job for him when he wasn't capable of being manager by his own admission. Even allowed him plenty time to work a second job while we had games on. Gardiner's gall has perhaps given an opportunity to really scrutinise his tenure and conduct which will hopefully come back around and bite him on the erse.

  27. https://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/sport/former-caley-thistle-ceo-s-legal-action-has-opened-pandora-s-360743/ Inverness Caledonian Thistle advisor Alan Savage says legal action pursued by former chief executive officer Scot Gardiner has opened a Pandora’s Box at the club. Sherriff Court officers visited the Caledonian Stadium at the end of last week over £70,000 that Gardiner believes he is owed by the club - £50,000 of which was through the Caley Thistle concert company and £20,000 being made up of loans to the club. The Caley Jags now have three weeks to formally respond, with Savage planning to dispute that claim. As part of the process to provide evidence, ICT will this week enlist lawyers – paid for by Savage – to go through communications between the football club and the Caley Thistle concert company, which is at the heart of the claim. They will also have access to bank statements to track what money went where, with Savage promising to get to the bottom of the situation. “There is a forensic search of the emails being carried out across all aspects of the concerts being done,” he said. “It may be that the club were carrying out work for the concert company, and Gardiner was getting paid by the club whilst doing work for the concert company. “I don’t know the legalities of that, but why should the club pay for the concert company? It doesn’t make sense whatsoever. The club wasn’t a shareholder in the concert company, but evidently it lost about £950,000 that wasn’t reported with the liquidator. “Gardiner has opened a Pandora’s Box, there are a load of implications of it, and we will go through the detail meticulously to put up a robust defence. “The bank statements will tell all. We’ve got a set of statements from the club and the concert company during that period, and between the two we will see which financial transactions were crossed, if any. We’ll be able to get a good look at this assertion that he’s owed money. “The ball is then in his court. He’s got to produce evidence that shows he has loaned money to the club and what the agreement was, and then we’ll have to reply, so this could take months and months.” While there may not be a quick resolution to the dispute with Gardiner, Savage is hoping an audit of the club’s 2023/24 finances will be completed slightly sooner, within six to eight weeks. That will allow ICT to provide a clearer financial picture to potential investors, but again that is not without complications. Fundraising efforts are currently ongoing, with the Caley Jags being given £1000 just last Saturday for example, but Savage expects ICT will need £1.6 million to get to the end of the 2025/26 season, and a decision on the long-running battery farm saga is only expected before Christmas. Since Savage came on board to battle against the tide, some have looked to recoup money they feel they are owed, with former manager and sporting director John Robertson just one example as he is looking for £7000 in redundancy pay from when he was on sick leave. Caley Thistle’s plight will be featured soon on the BBC show A View From The Terrace, which Savage hopes will bring them to the attention of potential investors, and he has promised to be open and transparent with supporters too about the outcome of the audit. “We should have a good indication of where we are by Christmas,” Savage added. “It won’t happen overnight, it’s up to us to speak to people and get more interest as people realise what state we’re in – but they can do something about it by putting their hands in their pockets. “There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be optimistic about this, Inverness is a great city that needs a great football club. “We also need Ross Morrison, David Cameron and Allan Munro to commit to where we are on the battery farm, because we need to know where we stand. “The 2023/24 season audit is under way, and that will give a clear picture of the club’s true financial position. “I don’t think it’s going to get better because there are still things crawling out of the woodwork all the time, but off the back of that we’ll be able to give a potential buyer the due diligence answers they would want. “I will make sure that audit is absolutely forensic and goes into everything that’s been going on at the club and the battery farms and concert companies so that there are no legacy issues that could affect a deal. “In the season ending in 2023, the accounts showed that the club lost £1.7 million. It beggars belief. I don’t know what happened, but we’ll get to the bottom of that. “We have to explain to the fans and stakeholders what happened. You can’t just move on, people want to know why. “It’s important that we communicate, because otherwise they’re only getting half the story. People want to know, even on a macro level, who was responsible for what and why.”

  28. How the board could not see through this guy in the last few years beggars belief. What the hell were they seeing in this fraud of a guy . It certainly wasn’t his charm, managerial or people skills, He just rubbed everyone up the wrong way . Any football club now would surely avoid him like the plague . I Remember when he arrived he used to try use his poor Scotty dog to try influence fans. Not a nice guy just a vile human being that thought everything evolved around Scot Gardiner . Hopefully the creep doesn’t get a penny of the club , Continuously taking unearned wages for years is criminal enough . Hopefully Savage finds enough on him . I’m sure any dirt on him would be appreciated .

  29. The only way to ensure he doesn't get a penny is to put the club into administration and I think that's what savage is getting at.
