Way back in 1993 there was a big war in Inverness. A war that eventually culminated in a new club being formed, Some loved the idea. Some hated it. That was then. This is now. The new club, that eventually became, Inverness Caledonian thistle was an ambitious club. They strived to be in the top echelons of Scottish football. Within ten years of that bitter formation they achieved the goal Another person in Scotland had an ambition to do something similar within five years. He bought Gretna and achieved his ambition within that time. They are now dead. We are still here but struggling. Why are we struggling. Answer is simple. We aspired to be part of a corrupt and dishonest league. Aleague that had two teams controlling every aspect of it. Does anyone ever wonder about the teams we used to beat to get where we are. The Montrose's and Elgin's. The Stenhousemuir's and Shire's. I look at those teams every week of the season and wonder what makes them tick. For them its not the high hieghts of the Scottish system. For them its the love of the game. They tick along every season and make their following happy. For us, and we are no bigger or better that any of the teams we beat to get where we are, we have become absorbed in the desire to help the twins of evil achieve success. That is the only reason the SPL was formed so having a desire to be in it is a desire to support the twins. HL was fun. SFL was fun. Reaching the corrupt league has not been fun and now we are falling. There is only one future in this game in Scotland now and thats for everyone to get together and demand change. Change that allow's teams from every part of the country to operate on a level playing field. Everyone is worried about the effects of the demise of Rangers. The same would be the case if it was Celtic. Truth is if it was Kilmarnock or Motherwell or ICT nobody would give a damn. We endeavoured to rise to the great hieghts of corruption. Now we are falling fast. There is a safety net though. Kick out the people at Hampden and stop bowing to the twins of evil.7 points

Guys and Girls, I made a dear Mr Cameron statement yesterday and in that I suggested his comments to the press were mis-timed and ill-advised. I stand by that but, having read so many, unfounded and undeserved, hate comments against KC, I now want everyone to take a step back. I have and I decypher the comments a little different in the cold light of day. Kenny Cameron, though I've never met him, comes across as someone who has a passion for this club. He also comes across as someone who knows the value of fans and of comunicating with fans. To me Kenny Cameron believes in our club and is very concerned for the future of the club. He always comes across as an honest and down to earth guy. Yesterday he made statements that, when you look at the different interpretations from different sensible peolpe, have maybe been taken out of context to a very high degree. My personal opinion is that his mistake was in making any statement at all. We all read the papers. We can all make our own minds up about the future of ICT and the future of Scottish football. Theres now a lot of change and uncertainty ahead, both for the club and for the game, but we all still need to be behind our team. I was never a season ticket holder before. When our club took the vote they did I became a season ticket holder. Not one ST but two. I dont even know if I'll get to one home game this season but I still put my money where my mouth was. And I may be able to do a little more for the club when I know what players we have. The big thing now is for total change in Scottish football. That will take a little time to set up but meantime, and I honestly hope the powers that be leave all as is for the moment and work towards the betterment of the game during the current season. Christ The Rangers may not even get out of Div3 Kenny and/or others at the top of ICT made a mistake in their press release but we have a new season coming up and we need every man, girl and their dogs to get behind the team and ensure we can continue at the top of whatever structure is in place in the future. All that now said I propose a vote of great confidence in Kenny Cameron and hope that he is very much involved in ICT and the Scottish game for many years to come.4 points

I kinda thought the same on first reading, but you know what...sometimes you just need to draw a line under the negatives and keep focus on the positives....god knows there have been few of them recently. Still going to be tough, and needs everyone pulling together. Absolutely agree - as long as we understand that drawing a line under the negatives does not mean that we don't learn the lessons from them. We cannot afford a repeat of Friday's PR disaster. Hopefully good can come out of it with much better communication in the future. Fans are much more likely to pull together with the club if they are kept properly informed about what is happening.3 points

I understand Kenny's frustration at the fact that the reconstruction plans have not gone through. However you only have to look at the statements coming out of clubs like Clyde, Annan, Raith and Ayr to see that reconstruction was only going to happen IF they stuck Rangers in div one...and the proposal was simply for some sort of working committee to discuss it and come up with a plan by November. Unsurprisingly the SFL clubs didn't trust Regan, Doncaster et al one inch, especially when they were effectively told 'if you don't agree, we'll form SPL2 and let you lot wither and die". These clubs should be applauded for not responding to threats and bullying, not criticized for refusing to kowtow. Of course, the SFL clubs would still be quite up for reconstruction...but how come it isn't an option unless the Newco get preferential treatment? I'd quite like Kenny and the other SPL chairmen to explain that.3 points

Why didnt the "powers that be" get together for next Saturday's friendlies. Clach v Hearts (quite interesting)(especially with ICT playing Hearts at least twice in the next season) and ICT v Coventry City (interesting really only for us ICT fans). Could some heads not have got together and had one game early and one a bit later and then the total football fans could have watched both games, encouraged both Inverness teams and more money into both turnstiles. Needed some "joined up thinking" but didnt happen as both ko's are 3pm.3 points

While the original statement was so poorly worded and did not need to be made, I hope a lot of the nonsense spouted by some fans earlier in this topic is treated as what it was, pure vitriolic nonsense in some cases. Some of the content on this topic has made me ashamed to be an ICT fan and we talk about Old Firm bile!.2 points

It's a total Myth that you need to be in debt to go into administration. In fact, administrations has nothing whatsoever to do with being in debt, it comes from a position of not being able to meet your liabilities and ongoing operating costs which, in the case of football clubs, is largely player wages.2 points

Luckily (?) I have missed much of this saga over the past week due to being out of the country. It has been pointed out that a number of SPL clubs still have season ticket sales less than last season and I would not be surprised if we are in the same situation. Now that 'integrity' has won the day, it is vital for all fans to pull behind their teams in the short term to mitigate the financial impact. Following on from this, real and positive change is needed to remove the imbalance in finance and try and improve the overall product. Whilst it is great for armchair assassin with keyboards to point the fingers at anyone and everyone within the club, we need to be clear that we have neither created this situation nor tried to manipulate the situation for our benefit. This cannot be said of a number of parties and individuals involved in the saga. Actual action in terms of buying tickets and other forms of support for the club are necessary over the coming days. Debt is not the only issue in amongst this and short term liquidity issues may impact on the team which is put together for next season (I think we would all like to see one or two further additions to the team). The fact that a number of backers have indicated their support is of some comfort, however the reality is that there will be impacts on the budgets and outlays. We cannot ask for immediate statements on matters, and then when statements are given demand that the clubs just keeps quiet. The statement issued was badly worded in terms of excessively emotive language, however the actual reading always indicated that the issues were considering immediate actions to balance income against expenditure and stating disappointment that reconstruction was off the table. Finally, I don't agree with this wave of opinion that the SFL have acted in the good of the game. Much of the issues are retribution for the SPL being created and allowing some small clubs to behave in a big way. The SPL is flawed in its basic structure around the old firm, however please remember the nonsense in which the SFL allocated monies, etc prior to the SPL's being where a small club received only marinaglly less than teams at the top with decisions being taking (in a similar way to the SFA) by people with petty agendas from the periphery of the game. These were the same people who for years prevented Highland presence in the top flight for their own benefit.1 point

If there's anyone, anywhere in the whole setup with the slightest sign of a brain cell then the SFA will force the Joint Proposal for Reform and a Merger on the SFL & SPL.....just as they should have done the minute Rangers were liquidated and this whole sorry mess reached the point of no return. Regan will leave the SFA "by mutual consent", no position will be found for Doncaster in the new setup. The league reconstruction (assumng NewCo can win promotion next season) will see NewCo end up in the second tier for season 2013/14. The SFA, the only ones in Scottish football with any money, to bankroll the transition with SKY/ESPN not being as harsh on cutting the existing deal as they might have been because, despite what Doncaster might have us believe, they actually want a larger more competitive top league as well. Any attempt to give NewCo a foot up by any other means will be suicide for the game and we may as well turn out the lights the moment such an announcement is made.1 point

No need for a fighting fund mark.lets all just start going to home games instead of away games and back our team to the til.i know it's not easy mate lets make the Kilmarnock game a 5000 plus afair and stuff going to paisley1 point

I don't understand why this is the only chance for reconstruction, Rangers at the moment (probably only till next week) but at the moment are in Division 3. If that stays as it is, they will have 3 years and ample opportunity to change things for the better and fairly for the game. Chairmen and clubs seems to be caught up in the immediate financial situation surrounding Rangers and not looking at the bigger picture. If the SPL chairmen including our own are angry at anyone, it should be themselves. They shouldn't have been so silly to suggest a league reconstruction vote on the same day the SFL clubs were taking a vote on the extremely emotional issue of Rangers. I don't know about anyone else but the reconstruction bit seemed just to be tacked on to the end of the Rangers vote and was barley discussed before the vote. So there is plenty of time for this to be discussed. If all the clubs pull together and help each other, the game can survive and not only survive but prosper.1 point

Again the Press seem to be pushing the "It's because NewCo were put to Div 3" line when that's not what Gilmour has said. He has said the same as Kenny Cameron...it's the rejection of the proposals for reform that are threatening the game.1 point

After some reflection and conversations in and around Borough Briggs today, I too am happy that Kennys statement was referring to the reconstruction proposals (I believe the ones posted by St Mirren). As a matter of fact, I did not even realise there was anything on the table that would allow reconstruction and The Rangers in Division 3. I have no idea why they were rejected as it still allowed The Rangers into Division 3 and not Division 1. So, I can see why Kenny Cameron is disapointed. I also believe that we will not be pressing for The Rangers to go back in the SPL / SPL2 and that the board are fully supportive of their admission into Division 3. However, because the statement was made without public knowledge (well I certainly didn't know) of this league reconstruction idea that still had The Rangers in Division 3 (i.e. it wasn't a bribe) then it makes it very awkward for the club. However, what's done is done and I believe that many others will come to realise soon that Kenny Camerons statement wasn't as bad as we first assumed. As for the folk asking Kenny Cameron to resign, i'd imagine that this is a board statement, not simply a Kenny Cameron statement. He's a Caley Thistle man and I do not believe that he is back tracking or misleading fans. Bottom line, the statement was regarding league reconstruction and NOT the league that The Rangers will be playing in.1 point

I recieved a response to my email. I am reassured by this response and I appreciated how quickly it came. It is along those lines but I don't think it would be fair to post it on here.1 point

I've heard today from a usually reliable source that ICT's disappointment with the SFL decision was all to do with the rejection of the league restructuring proposals (expanded SPL, play offs, fairer distribution of income etc) and most definitely NOT because of what league Rangers were put in. When you actually read the statement with that in mind it makes a lot more sense and seems to stack up. Hopefully we'll get some further clarification after the emergency board meeting. I'm also quite reassured to see that we had a trialist at Elgin today, which we surely wouldn't have done if we are on the brink of financial meltdown.1 point

Just when we thought it was safe to go back into the water! Kenny Cameron throws another killer shark into the mix. What's he playing at..cupid stunt!1 point

What about a link with local estate agents? We may be in a recession but there have been a lot of people from down south moving up to Inverness, what if when a house was sold the buyer was given a handfull of tickets for a family/couple for example for two or three home games. If they use the tickets then we have extra people in our stadium who may buy pies/programmes etc. They may enjoy themselves and appreciate the welcome to the area from the club. If they attend matches in the future or buy season tickets then it is a bonus.1 point

So newco has been voted into SFL3. Lets deal with it. The club are going to have to deal with it but we have other issues to think about. We have a pre season game today and more to come including a game against Coventry next Saturday. I won't be making either of them but I am keen to see how they go. We still don't have a full squad. We may make a few more signings. We also have young players featuring in pre season games; some of which look promising. Will the new players manage to avoid injuries and gel into a good side? We have the new league season coming up with Highland derbies. It could turn out to be a tense season. We have the league cup coming up soon. Every year I hope for a cup run and I'm sure the club do as well. It could be a chance to get some much needed revenue and some great nights out. We have other Scottish teams playing in Europe. The first being on Thursday night. Lets hope we don't get embarrassed again and we can see other teams making Scotland proud. We have a matter of weeks until the season starts. Lets look forward to that now. I am a football fan and a student, not a political activist.1 point

Again I couldn't care less what other fans say, I have a season ticket and I know I will miss a lot of games but I just want the season to start now.1 point

If Kenny Cameron is capable of coming out with a poorly timed and constructed press statement which makes the club look an unprincipled joke then no, he is not good for the club. If he has not played the fans for fools by pretending to be onside with them but hoping that others do what he actually fervently wanted to do but could not be seen to do, then he needs to explain himself urgently.1 point

Whether or not Kenny Cameron or the board have been trying to mislead fans, this was an extraordinarily naive statement to release, and it's already done a load of damage to the club. Why couldn't they have done the sensible thing and just kept their mouths shut?1 point

The statement is disappointing for a number of reasons, but I think some people need to untwist their knickers.1 point

Surely it hasn't escaped your notice that the SFL teams actually voted in their own financial self-interest? Every one of them will get 2 home sellouts against Rangers plus a likely SFL TV deal and improved sponsorship. The only people who have voted for 'sporting integrity' at the direct expense of their own self interest were ICT and 9 other SPL teams.1 point

are we never happy. jings the guys has an half way decent anecdote and all the fans can do is say that he is overpaid and sitting on the bench. nobody can say how this season will pan out and IF that is his wage it may well be that he is worth every penny. how about instead of griping and complaining at EVERYTHING the club does we do what we are supposed to do and SUPPORT the team. if this is the way the fans are panning out for this season it almost makes me glad i haven't renewed my season ticket1 point
