  1. Forgot to add, only part of the day that disappointed was that 50% of the small band of fans left before the players did their lap of honour/awards. For some reason they took I long time in the dressing room to reappear but after a fantastic season of finishing 3rd, even being potential title challengers at xmas, a cup final and Euro football folks didnt want to show appriciation. We need to make sure the players feel wanted by the fans if not we will loose them elsewhere.
  2. Saw a guy with United and ICT stuff on the way to the ground and assumed it was maarlon trying to punt some of his shite gear onto Inverness fans.
  3. I bet there are some interesting stories about first goals to be told by forum members Mine was a strange one. I was on a football field just kicking about with my brother in law. I was 14 or 15 years old which makes it around 1958 long before subs and such like Then the local team appeared most frustrated as they only had 10 men. My brother in Law who was an adult declined as he had to go home. They rather reluctantly asked me to play. ( being short of time and nobody else around ) I signed a form which was given to the referee because players had to be registered before the match which was a cup game. They stuck a number 9 on me and told me to play up front. I don't think they passed to me all the game. Most frustrating as I got into some good positions to score. Eventually we got a corner I thought hang back in the clear just outside the box as they looked too big for me in the 6 yard area. The corner came over and the ball was cleared straight to me. I just put my foot under it and lobbed it over the sea of faces in front of me. There wasn't an inch to spare low down but the top of the goal beckoned the ball crashed into the back of the net. The players looked at me in disbelief , before they came over with the usual celebration. After the game the reporter came over from the local rag and asked for the names of the scorers, as we had won 2 1. The captain looked puzzled because he didn't know my name. They came over with the reporter who took down my name. I was mentioned in the report. My teacher on reading it was most puzzled because he always played me at the back in school matches. "Scored a goal Banks in an adult game, wonders will never cease", was his comment with a twinkle in his eye. I can still after nearly 60 years can see that ball going into the net and the look of astonishment on the players faces, all of whom were probably a good ten years older than me I'd be interested in your stories as a light hearted topic sometimes puts a human face on the forum
  4. Btw loved the goal anthem repeated today (James Brown, "I feel good"). Coincidentally, I had been thinking about goal songs yesterday morning (maybe Kasabian, "Fire") but, on reflection, old Mr Brown gets my vote.
  5. Great result. To put together a winning run at the end of the season, guaranteeing Europa Cup football and seemingly ignoring the fact we have a 'wee' game to finish the season on, is pretty impressive, and is providing the momentum needed to finish the job This season is going to be very difficult to better next year Just have to get past next week...hopefully Celtic will spend the match enjoying lifting the Championship cup and not inflicting retribution....if they start then Warren at least can risk getting sent off by taking out Scott Brown With Palace ruining Stevie G's send off, I've had one of those lovely football weekends
  6. The club can only move them on from stadium property....despite us paying to have the road put in, we don't own it or the pavement. So long as they have a street traders licence (or equivalent), then they can't be moved on from there by police/council unless they are blocking it or creating a nuisance. With regards to copyright/trading off the clubs name. That would require taking civil action which, for a club our size, would likely cost more than revenue lost to these guys. Personally, I've found that these kind of traders don't take very kindly to people accidentally spilling tea, coffee, juice etc on their goods whilst trying to get past them. I have also seen one of them pack up and leave due to their being a terrible smell around his stall...was as if someone had been targeting that specific area with stink bombs or something...terrible behaviour, really.
  7. Kind of got the feeling too that D U were not that immersed in the game. Pity really, since they did have winning talent. But, apparently, have not had their best bits of Scottish luck this season. However......if adversity can have such a negative effect, then what about the adversities that have affected our team which have NOThad a long- lasting effect? Adversities my eye! It's all about desire to win and spirit. Our team has it and that's why we are going to win the Scottish Cup. Ciftci had some unfortunate misses though, for sure. A bit unbelievable for a talented, experienced guy. Clever enough he is so why has he resorted to questionable tactics in the past to make his mark? Poor John Rankin--wasn't able to make his mark either was he? Seems like John R has now been around a bit since leaving ICT--wonder how much longer his career will now last? Once a bit of a fixture in the team but now seems to have faded into more of a journeyman player. Anyone agree or disagree?
  8. Great way to finish off the last home game of the season and was great to see the players out on the pitch afterwards. Big congratulations to Graeme Shinnie for winning both awards and also a big congratulations to management chairman shop girls kiosk sellers etc as they all had a part to play. Shame that some of the stewards had a complete lack of humour If they had dealt with the young children at the front in a nicer way instead of continually bursting their beach balls they probably wouldn't have been given such a hard time. Wouldn't have taken much to let the kids know they could throw their balls on the park etc after the game On the issue of the fans not staying after the game we took the decision beforehand to forgo our bus to stay and applaud the players but obviously many had paid for the buses to Caley club etc and the buses didn't waitThe only one I saw after was the Highland Scotbus Maybe would be worth next season asking buses etc to wait till after lap of honour. Anyway roll on the 30th and let's enjoy what has been the best season in our history IMHO
  9. I mentioned on the ICT v D Utd thread that I'd been thinking about this last week. If not James Brown "I feel good" (which worked really well yesterday and should defo be considered), I thought KASABIAN "FIRE". Jump to 1 min 13 secs below. Leicester City use it to great effect. www.youtube.com/watch?v=agVpq_XXRmU
  10. http://caleythistleonline.com/page/index.html/_/reports-2014-15/inverness-ct-v-dundee-utd-spfl-r1274 Match report now published "However the goal was given and a booking duly dished out. Meekings claiming for hand ball on the goal line. How could you Josh................
  11. Most Northerly UK team to ever qualify for Europe.
  12. Well, that was a pleasant surprise today. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, given that Utd still have something to play for, and as far as the league goes, we don't. Thought the first half was pretty even. Esson made two very good saves to keep the scores level, but the ball seemed to spend more time at the Utd end of the park. The second half also started evenly, but once we scored, we took control. At the opening goal, confusion reigned. At first I thought it was a penalty and just a yellow card, but once my apoplexy had passed, I realised that the goal had been given. Ciftci then contrived to hit a dolphin when it looked easier to score. Ross's goal was well taken by him, but how it wasn't put away earlier I still haven't worked out. Warren's header iced the cake nicely. So that's 10 point out of 12 against a Utd side who we have found hard work in previous seasons. Esson was man of the match for me - a well deserved clean sheet for making some good saves. Meekings looks pretty good at right back, and Devine seems to be benefitting from the game time. Vincent seems to be coming onto a game too now, so with a bit of luck we will see some real competition for cup final places. Just next week to negotiate now. Apparently they are handing out some trophy to our opponents next week. The Premiership I think it's called.
  13. Will he be reporting back to Peter?

A dream/nightmare I've had several times over the years is that I'm drafted in to play as a striker for ICT at TCS. But the game just seems to take place around me, as if I'm not there. I can't keep up with play and don't get anywhere near the ball, despite trying my best. I'd imagine this is what it was like to be Andrew Barrowman.
  15. ... With the added cunning benefit of it completely confusing Stewart Houston if he happens to be an interested spectator at Ceptic Park ;)

The Northern Irish teams play the same type of season as us (expect no football on a Sunday!). A trip to Belfast to face Linfield or Glentoran (featuring Curtis Allen - booo!) would be good fun and might see us bring 500+ fans. Glenavon (Johnny Tuffey - booo!) are in the draw as well, but they're in County Armagh not far from the Republic border I believe.
  17. Not that optimistic about next week then?
  18. Driving along Sir Walter Scott Drive today I noticed someone has tied an ICT scarf to the feet of the eagle at the roundabout near Harry Ramsdens. I think, in the run up to the Scottish Cup Final, it should be mandatory that all statues in Inverness must be adorned with the red and blue shirts and scarves of ICT !
  19. Seriously? After his many and varied snafu this season, they give him the cup final? I assume that this is the SFA extending the middle digit to ourselves and Falkirk.
  20. Celtic shop has closed down I believe, due to the rate increases in the Eastgate. It would be a kindhearted gesture for ICT to send Josh Meekings down to give them a hand clearing it out.
  21. The Europa qualifying rounds are a total lottery - Lets just go with what we have got and feckin enjoy - win, lose or draw. Does anyone actually have the expectation of getting to the group stages ??
  22. Ticket arrived safely on Friday. How fantastic that we can now look forward to this final knowing that we have already qualified for Europe with two matches to spare. Had we missed out on 3rd place, the added pressure on the team on final day would have been tremendous. Now the team, management and all us supporters can really enjoy the day out and anticipate a good victory and even more glory. Bring it on.
  23. Well to be fair its cheaper than what i was expecting...........i mean at last years final the cheapest adult ticket was £35. But i also agree with Alex that it is not exactly 'cheap'! Personally had they kept the East/West stands behind the goal at £15/£5 i reckon that would have been bold and a decent move. Are we getting the Sevco end or the greeting faced half-wits end?
