  1. I agree. Theres a fine line between creating a siege mentality forming a close knit team and just completely selling your club short and i think unfortunately John Hughes is falling completely into the latter right now and selling our club well short. He's either intentionally or hopefully unintentionally bordering on complete blatant disrepect to the club and has been for a while now.
  2. That's bordering on unprofessional. I really don't want to hear things like that from our manager, why would anyone sign for us upon hearing something like that? It's hardly the most attractive thing for a prospective signing to hear. 'Please sign for us but should warn you that we're struggling to sign anyone elselse so you might be the only player we have and we'll probably be crap next season'
  3. One of the worst games of football i have seen. Motherwell were poor but for us being a home team needing a win to get in the top six we were terrible. The way we play is horrendous to watch, sideways and backwards passing all the time, there is no pace or quality to the way we attack. The amount of times we play passes back to Fon Williams is incredible. Miles Storey is our only recognised striker yet we play him on the wing, then when he goes up front we take him off. The changes made today were laughable, when we eventually made any. Hughes seems to take so long to try and change things. We are trying to win the game so we take Meekings off and replace him with Horner. Why not Jordon Roberts, if we are wanting to win the game then surely he must be a better option. Its going to be a long and nervous last seven games, lets hope we can get enough points to stay above 11th place. At the moment im not sure we can.
  4. I thought we played quite well in the second half, but the tactics are woeful. We should have won the game, but Yogi has lost the plot. One win in 8, that is relegation form i'm afraid. On another note, there was no need for some of the abuse directed towards Williams today from a minority. Petty, immature abuse from grown adults. Gimps.
  5. Why the feck is he always talking the club down. Terrible motivational skils. Sort him out Chairman.
  6. He's just been named the manager of Colwyn Bay! Also I see Prince Rajcomar has left Maastricht and signed for Romanian side ACS Poli Timisoara. They play in Liga I alongside Astra Giurgiu and Gregory Tade's Steaua Bucharest. Kerrea Gilbert joined St Albans City in 2015 but left after after they gained promotion to the Conference South. He hasn't had a club since and is now studying to be a personal trainer. Adriano Pellegrino left Perth Glory in 2011 (after being strongly linked with Celtic and had a trial with Motherwell) and joined fellow A League side Central Coast Mariners. Since then he's had spells in Malaysia with Kendah, Cambodia with Phnom Penh Crown and in Thailand with Udon Thani. He recently signed for the American side Tulsa Roughnecks, who also had Taylor Morgan on their books who came on against us for Falkirk in the cup final! Earlier in the thread the former Man United striker Phil Marsh was mentioned who was on trial for us in 2007. Since his last mention he's left Guiesley (after loan spells at Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic) and had spells at Salford City, Ashton United and Welsh second tier side Cefn Druids. Looks like he's without a club after leaving them last year. He's had 14 clubs in his career and is still only 29!
  7. Disappointing result. Thought we shaded it as better team. First goal embarrassing. We should not have lost In terms of players, back four ok, Tremarco was my man of the match and very unlucky not to have scored. We criticise Vigurs, but he did have urgency about him after his goal, so was up for it. Draper was poor, tending to pass poorly but won the penalty. Polworth had a quiet game. Mutombo was lively and in some ways our best hope. Up front, Hughes is being played out of position but worked his socks off. He won a lot in the air but lacked back up. Storey was ok. Both Williams tried hard, would like to see Ryan W get more game time to see what he is capable of, as he seems lively. Not sure whether Meekings may not be fully fit, hence being replaced, as he was reluctant to take the defence on. We should have won today, or at least got a point, so top 6 looks a gonner. Hopefully we get points against Hearts and United, but both will be tough. We need to hope Hamilton lose tomorrow in Aberdeen.
  8. Said weeks ago that the games against the Lanarkshire sides would define our season....and so it has turned out: 2 defeats at home to cr@p opposition has condemned us (IMO) to bottom six and some unnecessary bum twitching. In fairness, it sounds like we were going for it and got caught on the break, but it's too late for that: We f@nnied about for most of the season with tiki taka and no striker + insufficient talent to pull it off. That's no disrespect to our team, but as I watch El Classico, I realise that only the very best teams in the world can pull that style off. I hope JH has cottoned on too and abandons this boring, risky strategy....assuming we escape the drop! And the recruitment/retention for next season has been a shambles, but I'll keep that for another thread.
  9. According to Barry Wilson's summary after the game on Radio Scotland - David Raven was playing!
  10. ...and thanks to IHE for the apt pictorial summing up of the afternoon
  11. Williams sold the first then compounded the break for the second by getting caught in no man's land out of his box for the second. The most telling thing, yet again, is our inability to trouble the opposition keeper. We are definitely suffering for overcomplicated tactics. What is wrong with playing our only real striker as a striker? We have lost quality in Christie and clearly from the players brought in and comments made by Hughes we have no real clue as to how to replace the players we are losing. Falkirk fans always say that playing people out of position and poor recruitment was Hughes biggest weaknesses.
  12. Sat 02 Apr Highland League C Dingwall, G Wood (Formantine 5 - Huntly 1) D Gillespie (2) (Wick A 2 - Brora R 2)
  13. That result wasn't good enough for top 6, and we aren't good enough for top 6. Why is that? This season's injury list is a valid excuse, but there's more to it than that. We've just had too many poor results at home (even before considering that we also went out of both cups at home to unspectacular teams.) 0-1 Motherwell 0-0 Partick 0-2 Hamilton 0-1 St J (who had 10 men most of the game) 1-1 Dundee 2-2 Utd 0-0 Partick 0-1 Hamilton 1-2 Motherwell From that list of shame, we picked up a mere 4 points from a possible 27 against mediocre sides. Just a few more points from that selection and we'd be looking seriously at top 6! The other thing that stands out from that list is the abysmal lack of goals. Wrong tactics? Lack of credible striking options? A bit of both, IMO. Some stats on goals - on the last 6 occasions we scored twice in a game, we won every time! All 12 of our wins this season came when we scored 2 or more, in fact our overall record in games where we scored 2+ goals is W12, D2, and just 1 defeat (4-2 at Parkhead). So it's a pity we can't manage 2 goals more often!
  14. Beaton had a better game than most of our players.
  15. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. The tactics and substitutions today were absolutely shocking. Starting to fear that Yogi is becoming more of a hindrance than a help to the players.
  16. Nope. We were pressing for a winner and got hit by a sucker punch break away. Although somebody should have professional fouled Johnson and taken one for the team.
  17. This season has been torture.
  18. Another last minute goal conceded, how surprising. Looks as though we took off our attacking players for midfielders and lost the initiative. This has happened multiple times now this season.
  19. Another last minute goal, another!! It's beyond a joke, we are in serious trouble of going down.
  20. Result: Inverness CT 1-2 Celtic Andrew Macrae scored for us. Dean Brill was in goals and Ali Sutherland was playing, as was Jason Brown. But that's all I can garner from Celtic's Twitter.
  21. I searched him yesterday and the results I found seem to show that he's an ex-Hibs youth.
  22. Decided to come up with a leaving the club/out of contract/loan ending XI with substitutes. Quite concerning how many attack-minded players we could end up losing this summer. Fon Williams Horner Devine Wedderburn Raven Mutombo Polworth Roberts Doran Fisher Storey Subs - Brill, Vincent, D.Williams, Ferguson, Brown, Hughes, R.Williams
  23. This fan rampage has been blown out of all proportion by the do gooders brigade. I don't condone violence or wanton vandalism but ffs, do we really want to go back to the BBC2 Old Grey Whistle Test days when Lynyrd Skynyrd were giving it their all, three guitars blazing and an audience of cultural viewers with beards and polo neck jumpers clapping politely whilst bolted to their eats.. I know which I prefer. However, keep the replies polite and wind yer neck in guys as some of the replies are getting personal.
  24. The first 25 mins we were going strong tactics were good and opportunities came but that's where we fail nobody seems capable of putting the ball in the net or we flounder about trying to find space to shoot or nobody seems to want to take a crack at goals. after 25mins we went into our shells a bit we lost momentum and became stale. Second half, renewed energy and we looked as if we wanted to take them on and give them the licking they deserved, it wasn't happening and we started messing about mid field and passing back when there were opportunities there to break forward. Their goals, clangers both of them, I would have thought that our keeper with his experience would have positioned himself better for the first and dealt with it even though it was a fluke. The second well full marks to them they saw there was one man defending and made us pay for nor anticipating a break bad defending at a crucial time. The plus Draper it was his power, foresight and character that made him burst into the box and win us a penalty my man of the match. No blame on John Hughes tactics were good. it was the execution of opportunities missed that cost us the match and that is the responsibility of the players. Incidentally David Raven was sitting in the stand a couple of rows in front of me.
  25. Another Saturday ruined by another last minute goal. 1 win in 8 is shocking form. Let's pray we can stay up, get some contracts sorted, and make some signings for next season. What's worrying is that players may be deterred from signing a contract for a team on such a poor run!
  26. I don't think there was too much wrong with the tactics today. If I was being critical then we weren't quite as direct as at Dingwall. We didn't exactly cover ourselves with glory at either goal - Fon Williams should have dealt with the cross, and I'm not sure how the resulting shot went in. For the winner, either the last man (Horner, I think) or the keeper should have halted Johnson. The subs were attacking, and Storey wasn't doing much. Not sure about Meekings though And no booking for any Motherwell players in the resulting celebration?
  27. One win in 8 and it was a 3-0 win against the League Cup champions, how? How are we actually this pish, honestly..
  28. Oh joy. If Collum is half as bad as Beaton today he will be worse than terrible.
  29. Let Macdonald away with murder. No booking for Lasley at the penalty. No booking at the end for celebrating with fans, allowed Ripley to waste ridiculous amounts of time. And that's just for starters. Oh oh and missed a push by Draper and a bit of basketball by Vigurs - who he was standing right beside. He was woeful in the 9 man semi v Hearts, and has pretty much matched that nadir every other time I have seen him. If we could have Andrew Dallas for the Dundee Utd game, then my shyte ref bingo card can be completed in a week
