  1. I'm finding it hard to understand that a team that has been playing pretty well recently, who could have increased the gap between 2nd & 3rd to 6 points and who should have felt they had a point to prove after a poor 3-0 defeat earlier in the season at Arbroath, can put in such a truly awful performance. They should have been really up for this game. Instead, it looked as if most of them simply couldn't be bothered. And I don't think I can remember a game when possession has been given away so easily so often. It was like watching a 2nd rate pub side at times. It was just dreadful. Storey was probably the pick of the outfield players. He at least put in some decent effort even if the end product left a lot to be desired. The game was rather summed up for me by the incident in the first half when Storey got the ball wide right and ran virtually the width of the pitch with the ball at his feet but couldn't find a team mate to pass it to. I thought taking Doran off was a mistake - not just because I had him down to score our first goal but because he also worked quite hard and was the one player who seemed most likely to unlock the Arbroath defence. I can't criticise the team selection because it was the same players who did well against Dunfermline, but there must be some reason for such collective ineptitude. The last time we had a couple of poor performances was when the sickness bug ran through the club. As far as I know, there are no such problems just now. Let's hope this is just a one off, because unless they get back on track we will quickly slip out of the play-off places. We may be 2nd, but our points total is closer to Morton in the relegation play-off position than to Dundee Utd.
  2. ? That... was... pitiful. Sad when we lose , and Mark Ridgers is man of the match. Says it all. And for those players who are not signing new contracts because they think they're better than us. Get a grip.
  3. That was a feckin disgrace. Total rubbish from start to finish! You would think Robbo and the coaches would have learned after the last two games against Arbroath what tactics would be an improvement. Alas no, feckin clueless, I used to the 1/5 Jordan was the Donkey, But I'm wrong we seem to have a team of them! Jeckyll and Hyde appear on the scene , what team will appear next week.
  4. Inverness CT manager, John Robertson: "We were horrendous, quite as simple and straightforward as that. From the first whistle we looked lacklustre, didn't have any energy, any zip, didn't move the ball about. It looked like the players thought it's only little old Arbroath - little old Arbroath showed exactly what it takes to be a professional football team."
  5. Think we could start a thread ' The worst bits ' be quite a few from the last couple of seasons ????????

Think the aquifer is usually seated in the home dugout.
  7. After being turned over at Gayfield last time we met, we need a solid professional performance to get a result. It won't be easy though, Dick Campbell is tactically very astute. They are likely to sit deep and with Linn and Donnelly they have players who can hurt us on the break. An early goal is what we need but we may need to be patient. With the Dundee Derby ending all square and Ayr having a difficult game against QOS we could extend the gap between 2nd and 3rd to a healthy 6 points whist cutting the gap at the top by 2. This is the final game of the decade - and what a decade it has been! Getting a convincing win this afternoon would be a fitting way to end the decade so we can look forward to the new one with renewed confidence. I'm sure the boys will be up for it today so lets hope we can get a few more than 2,000 into the ground to cheer them on.
  8. Ryan Christie is on his way to the English Premiership he’s too good for Scottish football Without doubt the most talented footballer that has come from Inverness Dougal
  9. MAs an ICT fan, going home and away, I loved the Semi Final v Celtic and that game will always be one of my favourite memories. After queuing for ages for umpteen tickets for the Final, I became seriously ill and couldn’t attend. Friends offered to take me by wheelchair, but not possible. Awful! After all these years of following ICT, to miss the final. Watched on tv - not the same. Was delighted with the win, but, I wasn’t there. However I have wonderful memories - David Raven v Celtic, Nick Ross v Hearts at “neutral venue” Hibs! Games v Ross C.unty so good. Ayr with 7different goal scorers; ICT have given me so many good days out and the craic with those around me is so much better than watching games on tv. Thank you ICT.
  10. Absolute garbage. Looked lethargic and 2nd to almost every ball. Didn't deserve anything from that. Credit to Arbroath though who were dogged, organised and looked they actually wanted it. I think to the outsider you'd struggle to tell who the part-time team was.
  11. The run of Games from January to May 2010 was pretty special. The media had already crowned Dundee as league champions...but a 21 game unbeaten (league) run that started in December put pay to that. What's even more incredible than turning over a 15 point deficit to finish 12 points ahead (27 point swing) is that we finished that season with the fixture backlog from hell (7 games in 24 days during March) and the players never let up, even after we'd secured promotion. IMO, that was the season that kick started the 5 year run that culminated in the Scottish Cup victory and our wee European adventure.
  12. Well done, you're all in the report...........
  13. As stinkers go, this was pretty epic. Ridgers made three excellent saves, two of which were late on to keep it 1-0. Aside from him, everyone else was absolutely awful. Apart from an effort that was disallowed for offside, I don't believe we created a single chance of note after we went behind. As Robbo said post-match, we were dreadful from the word go. We were slow, no-one wanted on the ball, and everyone's touch and passing was completely off. The swirling wind didn't help but it seemed like nobody was willing to take the ball down. Everything was headed or volleyed aimlessly away. If anything the subs made it worse; Curry and Todorov barely got into it whilst MacGregor followed everyone else's lead by repeatedly getting caught in possession. It's worth noting that following the substitutions our senior outfield player was...Charlie Trafford. When the going got tough there was a clear lack of leadership on the park. How much is Robbo to blame? One could argue that taking off Doran, who at least looked interested, was a terrible move. But to be honest, it felt like regardless of whom he played and what formation he used it would have been just as rank. I feel like I should be giving Arbroath credit, but for what? Keeping their shape properly and not making stupid errors? That should be the bare minimum. And the bare minimum was enough to beat us today.
  14. That was the first time Arbroath have ever beaten us in Inverness and, based on today, it'll be a long time until we beat them again. A truly shocking performance from ICT.
  15. Honking today ? Nothing else to say!
  16. Absolute **** fest that. Arbroath didn't win that we lost it. Only player who deserves any credit is Ridgers with that save to keep it one nil.
  17. I'm sure we can rule out today's match from the highlights of this decade.
  18. Oh. My. *******. God. I cannot believe the ***** I've just witnessed. We're bloody 2nd in the league and are being played around by a part time team who's main striker works the bin lorry every other day. There's supporting through thick and thin, but losing against easy points is a **** take. I tried to stay til the end but I couldn't bear to see us losing every single easy ball, but eventually I gave up bout 5 mins from time. GET. A. GRIP. LADS.
  19. In January, a winger unproven at a host of clubs - no. In the unlikely event of any activity the only thing we need is a proven goalscorer, a predator who can convert our chances and take us into, and through the playoffs. Failing that it will be a rebuild on a much reduced budget next year.
  20. From a football point of view it has to be the Scottish Cup Final it’s been the pinnacle yet the club has sadly been on a steady decline since however and the fans have dwindled away. From a non football point of view it has to be Bannerman’s resignation from the forum never have I seen toys thrown so far out of a pram in what can only be described as a seething mess. Both the above glorious days IMO dougal
  21. I would pick Ryan Christie as he came from our youth teams to first team in the Scottish Premiership and was part of the winning team. Although he left for Celtic halfway through he is still 'One of our own'
  22. Ryan Christie got a nomination for the SPFA Young Player of the Year.
  23. It was the same day as the FA Cup Final but luckily earlier in the day ... so we were able to persuade the 'Football Factory' pub to show it live ... started off with 5 or 6 of my friends in for the game and ended up with the whole pub supporting ICT ... then later (after FA cup final) we went to the TFC game ... remember very little of that one though !
  24. Pretty hard to see past the 7-0 day out at Somerset Park. The whole day was fantastic, pre-match, match, sermon on the mount, Butcher controlling the fans with his arms like a puppeteer, the puppets waiting on his every command, like a sketch from Monty Python, post match, just everything about it.....apart from leaving my jacket in the away end. If Carlesberg did away days with added panache; that's how they would do it!
  25. Valid point but the fact remains we are in the championshiph with a different budget White has been our top scorer in 2 seasons since he was here. He was Livingstons top scorer in his 2 seasons there. He was Stirling Albions top scorer in the 2 seasons he was there. Bit of a pattern there dont you think, I certainly do. Not too bad for a donkey as some posters on here like to call him. Think it would be good if the lad and all the players got some more support vocally at the games and on social media. He is our striker atm and with encouragement he could play a big part in us getting back to the top flight. Social media plays a major part in the lives of many people currently. Our players are all young men who can be encouraged or discouraged by comments from fans on social media platforms. Wouldn't it be great if our fans were the most positive in 2020. Imagine if that positivity played a part in promotion. Worth a try ?

Just what a large percentage of our remaining support don't care about and have no recollection of - pre merger kits. Sounds like backward thinking to me.? Room 101 for that then. Maybe try selling hot cakes for a tidy profit.?

To revive an old saying on these forums (or I should really say "fora"!) "I agree with Mantis!" You've got it straight from the horse's mouth there.... from one of the many "NO" voters who followed and supported ICT after the deal was done and the club formed. And he is telling you that a large number of the 226 who voted against the merger in December 1993 have become supporters. But of course there's always the anecdotal stuff when someone claims to know someone who is a refusenik.... therefore Inverness is full of refuseniks. In about 2086 (and I choose the date deliberately) we will, with echoes of the Battle of the Somme, be hearing that the last living Caley Refusenik is still in a nursing home on Telford Street, bumping his gums away on a Howden End pie from the stock he took away and froze in October 1996. I really have to commend Dougal who does an incredible job on here getting debate going.... even though it's usually about outdated or irrelevant p!sh. He seems to have a talent for identifying issues which get people posting on here... just look at the length of this thread for instance! He even shows quite a good understanding of some of these issues, including this one, and his last post does state some sense... but also a lot of nonsense although I'm now sufficiently punchdrunk with this subject no longer to be bothered replying line by line. However I would want to give this summary of the contribution of Thistle.... The Inverness merger was essentially an unequal one and finding the right balance of inequality is what created a lot of the problems. At one point it was (correctly) stated that Caley had 70% of the assets, 80% of the membership (albeit only after rabid recruiting in advance of the meetings) and 90% of the fundraising capacity. Thistle on the other hand did contribute £486,000 from the sale of Kingsmills and the proceeds of the sale of their Social Club. Believe me - half a million quid in the desperately tight financial arithmetic of the construction of the stadium was absolutely vital. However the presence of BOTH clubs in the arrangement, even after the departure of Clach, gave it the status of representing the whole of Inverness and not just one of the town's three Highland League clubs. This was a very important "added value" which meant that the joint bid had FAR more clout than any single one could have had and as a result FAR more support was forthcoming from the public purse (£1.8M) and local businesses. It also brought neutrals in because - like it or not - there was always a significant dislike of "the Caley" within Inverness. In consequence, the merged bid which went in front of the SFL in January 1994 was far, far more potent than anything a single team could have raised. The option of any single club bid effectively died on September 9th 1993 when both clubs voted to merge. Although applications did not close until 1st October, no single bid could physically have been put together after that. So it was the merger or nothing. The bottom line is that few people in 1993 would have envisaged Inverness having SPL football by 2004, far less retaining it more or less unbroken for many years. Nor would it have ever had SPL football if Caley had decided to go it alone - which they so nearly did and I believe would have done if the Carse Scheme had gone ahead in 1992. So, ironcially, although the ditherers on the District Council nearly caused disaster at one point, their dithering over the Carse was a major factor in ensuring that Inverness is in the SPL and not just another Alloa, Brechin or Peterhead. EDIT - while I was posting this, Alex was talking a lot of sense in the post now immediately above. In particular, if creating dissent is Dougal's aim, then there is NO chance of him doing that with any of the topics he starts. This one, for instance, is as Alex says merely of nostalgic and in my own case academic interest.
