  1. Interesting to see the bizarre comment from Adams yesterday in trying to take as much personal credit as possible for County's surprisingly comfortable win against Dundee Utd. The BBC quotes him as saying "It takes a brave manager to do what I have done today and play six new players". Adams should reflect that the six new players have been brought in to address the mess created by his failure to put a decent side together. It is Adams' ineptitude which has forced his chairman to dig deeply into his pockets to finance a rescue act. Without this influx of players, County would be firmly rooted in 11th place and would be heading for the play-offs. Brave, my *rse! Had Adams not played the players the Chairman has financed he might well have been looking for another job next week.

  2. Well done Danny Williams. I thought he was one of our better players last week and a good display today just adds to his confidence. He is growing into Inverness Caledonian Thistle nicely

  3. I see that these same Saint Johnstone fans who pinched the flag allegedly pulled a knife on some Hearts fans to steal their drum. Classy bunch.

  4. I don't think it's cowardly, CELTIC1CALEY3. He's effectively being the opposite of a coward by leaving a 'safe job'. Any of the Alloa players would jump at the chance of playing at a higher level. They won't think anything negative about their boss moving on, because they would do the same, if the opportunity arose. It's the same for us all in employment. Loyalty to our current employer dissipates when a better offer comes in. I don't, for one minute, believe Hartley has resigned because he doesn't feel he's up to the job. He's got an offer in the pipeline!

  5. I'm now feeling very optimistic about the rest of the season after today's win at Pittodrie, no more negativity from me as far as the strength and depth of ICT's squad is concerned given that we still have Draper/Foran/Warren to come back into the mix (An additional striker to would be great though!) nor any more negativity towards Yogi until the end of the season at least, he's now coming across as a decent guy and has not "rocked the boat" since taking over from Butcher indeed he's already given youth a chance to shine with both Polworth and Christie now seen as regular first team players (would Butcher have done the same, doubt it!). With Lattapy arriving next week there's a lot to be positive about and of course we have the semi-final to look forward to. It'll be no surprise if this is going to be ICT's most successful season ever! Oh I forgot were still in the Scottish Cup and almost guaranteed at least a place in the last eight! Been a season ticket holder since 94 and things have never looked so good for ICT so come on no more negativity on the message board until we know how the season pans out! (Worth a try I suppose!)

  6. Just checking back on highlights, and I think I see the selection change made for this match that has changed our fortunes. Dean Brill's choice of jersey, it is something I commented on to my brother and daughter at the last few games. Including and since the win over St Johnstone the game before Yogi took over, Deano wore the grey top against St J, St Mirren, Partick, a win and 2 draws, all clean sheets. In the other games he wore the yellow jersey, and we either lost or Deano had a nightmare game and no clean sheets. Grey top yesterday, win and clean sheet. I say, Deano, bin the yellow jersey.

  7. Note that there are still a few sitting on the fence regarding Yogi. Let just call them the Humpty Dumpties. Butcher would NEVER have adapted the team and the system in the manner that Hughes has. I strongly suspect that he will adhere to some of the players. Tansey will have benefitted from his spell at Stevenage and may be the "buy" of the season. Williams has the skill and the touch. He just needs a run in the team and Doran may be the fall guy.

  8. Wouldn't have said so a year ago but I think G Shinnie is a better player than his brother. A travesty he's not in the Scotland squad but a few more performances like that and Strachan will find it impossible to continue to overlook him.

  9. I thought Shinnie put in one of his best ever performances for us. Williams looked good as well. A lot more confident and direct than in recent weeks.

  10. In the cool light of late evening I' m reflecting on just how good that win was. If I'm honest I expected us to lose today, as I suspect did many other ICT supporters. But now I can see that win as a stepping stone to a successful second half of the season. And that will be just reward for the fantastic start we made to this season. It would have been difficult to watch us slowly drift down the league, even to 7th place or below. But now, based solely on how we played today, I am optimistic that we will challenge for second spot. A cup win, or two, is not out of the question either. At times today we played the best football I have seen us play since a spell against Killie at their place a couple of seasons ago when, for about 20 minutes, we were simply fantastic (even though we only won 2-1 in the end!). Coupled with Latapy joining as assistant, Tansey rejoining and being terrific today, and maybe Hughes beginning to find his feet, I am all of a sudden hugely optimistic for the remainder of the season. With a severely depleted team today (no Warren or Draper), our defence was simply immense. In fact it will be a hard job for Hughes to decide who to drop to accommodate these two back into the starting line up. Nice problem for him to have. What with Williams , at last, showing how well he can play, I say again, we have every chance of realising the potential that the first half of the season promised. Roll on the next few weeks!

  11. I would encourage anyone who is still swithering to go and book. Its a great deal especially for youngsters. I look back with fond memories to our Scottish cup giant killing days, the camaraderie, the togetherness of our fans en masse and the belief that our team can take on anyone and win. Be part of the ICT bus convoy and be part of a good day out.

  12. According to John Robertson, some of the Dutch players, signed in the summer, are are being frozen out and are training with the under 20's. Some of these players are on 3 year contracts, so a very expensive failed experiment by Mr Adams. And so much for County being a community club and bringing on its own players through its overhyped "academy". Not much evidence of home grown players in the current first team. It will be very interesting to County's financial accounts because if these very expensive new signings are being financed by County then they will be facing a substantial loss this season. However it may be their sugar daddy is financing it himself. One thing is for sure, County are not living withing their own means.

  13. A day on since this superb result and It still feels great to put one over our "high flying" northern neighbours. It was a great team performance with star performances from Wlliams, Shinnie and the defence, in particular. Now that we have the addition of Tansey and Vincent on the comeback, we have a squad that is capable of competing strongly for the rest of the season.

  14. But are they? Before Terry and Mo went there they had 15 points from 13 games, Since then they have got just 13 from 10. Only 4 of those games have been against top 6 sides and they have got just 2 points from those 4 games. Their apparent marginal improvement may simply be that they have had 6 games against the bottom 5 during that period. The only teams they have beaten are the teams who occupied the bottom 3 places when Terry and Mo took over. They need to do a bit more than that to demonstrate an improvement. So e stats guy on twitter saying that Gary Locke won more points in his first 10 games in charge at Hearts than TB has won in his first 10 at Hibs.

  16. Hibs are much improved since Terry and Mo went there. Acknowledging that isn't a crime.

  19. County living away above their means shocker, Dork Adams fecks up the first half of the season - again, and Mr Money bags comes running to bale him out again. Just a bunch of mercenaries, all will be away in April no doubt.

  20. Don't see any difference in this style of management than what he showed with us when we lost?

  23. Yogi has actually brought considerable freshness to the squad through the introduction of a range of players and to see Evans get a few minutes also deserves mention. Evans looked far more professional than Toby so here's hoping he gets more game time too and who knows, could help spread goal scoring around a bit. A lesson for all football supporters - never get too cocky. Aberdeen's bubble was growing and I think they thought they had an easy three points against a 'weakened' ICT team. Yogi said 'bring it on' and the team found their early season principles of putting themselves in the firing line in defence whilst at the other end Aberdeen's back four was amazingly shaky. Aberdeen's supporters shouted 'stand up for the champions' with the ICT supporters thinking who do they mean? Are they now honoring Celtic? Big and difficult period coming up for ICT but special thanks to Ross County for their assistance yesterday.

  24. Hey, steady on, Westhill1. I agree with your post apart from the 'almost guaranteed' a place in the last eight'! Surely a bit presumptive?! It's a classic banana-skin cup tie. It'll be a tough game down there against a team with nothing to lose and who are in good form. They've scored in their last 24 games including a recent draw at Ibrox. They also took 3 off Hibs at Easter Road earlier this season, so they know the way to goal.

  25. And.. to add to the dilemma, Yogi is lining up a new striker!
    1 point
  26. For me, the old adage, keep the winning team, sub as necessary. We have never really experienced such a dilemma, no doubt Yogi will deal with it in his own quiet way. It is the test of a good manager to keep all the players in the squad happy to be there. There have been many cries for options this and options that now we have a squad building that will start to see these options materialise. We haven't had this luxury before, there are interesting times ahead. TogethrNess still reigns !

  27. What a result! TBH I wasn't expecting that given Aberdeen's recent form, but looks like perhaps our winter 'blip' might be over. Have watch some of the BBCAlba coverage on IPlayer and we looked like we played pretty well....Shinnie really growing into the midfield general role, also helped that Tremarco is very solid in LB. Doran looking dangerous as well, and great that Vincent is back. Still want a decent option for or to support Billy up front though. Need to watch all 90mins later! I was in a lounge at Palace after our 1-0 win, and got some puzzled looks when I 'wooped' when ICT's result came up... made for a happy evening. Prospects of bring wife and eldest daughter up for games in the future!

  29. Not sure if that's necessarily correct as Devine is around the same height as Warren ,while Tremarco adds more height than Shinnie!

  30. No negativity at all. Even us Hughes sceptics are willing him to succeed and today is a sign he just might and with Latapy coming on board hopefully we will all be eating and relishing our humble pie soon.

  33. Interesting to hear Willie Miller saying that he's changed his mind about Aberdeen being the second best team in the league after today. And that's without Warren, Draper and Foran!

  34. I'd be surprised if it was all going to be spent. I reckon some would be kept back to help cover our usual operating costs / shortfall. Probably Tansey would take Toby's place on the wage bill.

  35. Right. What makes one think that any of the current successful players would want to move to Hibs anyway? ICT are on the crest, despite a smaller budget, area great proving ground for all newbies and have integrity. That's a pretty powerful stance to encourage players with character to stick around. At least you have the feeling that you will get a fair chance to get into the first team and a fair assessment of your character and ability at ICT. But, since T B will now be under intense pressure to perform, then if I were a player under him I would be feeling really uneasy about my future at that club. Further, with the cloud over his head to the effect that , IMHO, he must have been working on this move for months, how much would a player trust him now anyway? Let's face it, if the reservations we have on here about Mr Butcher's move have any justification, then would the players not also have the same feelings. I think Mr B's day is over and he will just have to get on with it without attempting to raid our larder... You know, if you make your own bed then you have to lie in it .

    • Kelty Hearts Training Statement
What a farce we have become, a laughing stock: Did you hear the one about the footbal team from the Highlands of Scotland that want to train at Cowdenbeath? Unfortunately, unlike our board, this is not a joke. Our board are trying to rip our identity from the Highlands and replace it with shared training at Kelty Hearts. I kid you not, this is not a drill and the clowns that run our club appear to be delighted at this coup.

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.
