Good Luck to Ryan as he moves onwards and upwards. There's a lot of BS in this thread from many posters and how anyone can do anything but wish him well is beyond me ! Like his dad before him, he has played an important part at ICT and we all knew he would move on sooner rather than later, and although many of us hoped it might be to England - where I think he will end up eventually - its not rocket science to figure Celtic might be the first stop given his dad's history and his own fondness for the club since an early age. Wearing the shirt and uttering well worn and cliched phrases about being happy to sign for a new club ... disrespectful? Get a f****** grip !!! Its part and parcel of football PR. The lad himself has not been disrespectful to ICT ... but there's a fair few candidates on here being disrespectful to him. Like Graeme Shinnie I think he will give his all until the loan spell ends and also like GS he should go with our blessing and thanks even though we dont want him to go.

Ryan Christie does not deserve any criticism whatsoever over the events of the past few days. He has a career to pursue (and a short one at that) - he deserves everything that comes to him on account of his talent and his hard work since the age of ~10. Few make it through development squads because of the dedication required and he needs to move on to fulfil his ambitions. Celtic are his employers now and he has to show loyalty to that club. We are borrowing him for a few months. I have no doubt that, when the time is right, Ryan will thank the club and the support at ICT in the appropriate manner. The issue is not with Ryan, but with the timing of the transfer. I can't help feeling that this move could have been sorted earlier in the window to allow us to re-invest the cash in quality players that we so badly need. I also think Yogi's comments around this issue has been poor - honesty sometimes needs to give way to discretion. Good luck Ryan and I look forward to seeing you on the world stage at some point either for Scotland or in the Champions League. In the meantime, please bang in a few goals before you go!

We were always going to have a hangover from the club's most successful season in our history but there has been a huge turnover in players so after D-Day this is our lot - 2014/15 Losses Billy Mckay - £150k (January) - Striker Graeme Shinnie - PCA - Left Back Edward Ofere - Free transfer - Striker Nick Ross - PCA - Versatile Midfielder Marley Watkins - PCA - Forward/Winger Tarmo Kink - Free transfer - Forward/Winger Ryan Christie - £600k (best estimate) - Versatile Midfielder/Forward Other losses earlier in the season Pepper, Greenhalgh & Sekajja (a few others but not first team players) 2015/16 Gains Dani Lopez (free transfer from from La Roda) - Striker Jordan Roberts (free transfer from Aldershot) - Versatile Midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn (free transfer from Cowdenbeath) - Holding Midfielder Owain Fon Williams (free transfer from Tranmere) - Goalkeeper Iain Vigurs (free transfer from Inverurie Locos) - Versatile Midfielder Andrea Mbuyi-Mutombo (free transfer from ÉFC Fréjus Saint-Raphaël) - Forward/Winger Tobi Sho-Silva (6 month loan from Charlton) - Midfield/Forward Miles Storey (6 month loan from Swindon) - Striker Ryan Christie (Season loan with option to recall) - Versatile Midfielder/Forward Difficult to judge positions as a lot of the new guys have still to pull on a shirt but from the above we are actually up on numbers from last year with an additional keeper and holding midfielder. For me the main difference is the quality and experience we have lost but you could argue, from what we have seen so far, Vigurs and Fon Williams would have competed for a position in last years squad. From what I've seen and read Mutombo, Wedderburn and Roberts (in friendlies) have all shown glimpses of quality. I still think that Lopez could be a good signing for us but it is fair to say that he has not hit the ground running. It's not new for us to pick players out of obscurity in the English lower leagues and let them make a name for themselves with ICT but it does annoy me that for the money that was earned last year we have failed to sign anyone with a decent record or any real experience at this level. It is not as if we didn't know this was coming so where were the contingency plans? Do we have scouts actively making enquiries to present an affordable list of candidates to Yogi and if so, was this the best that could be achieved with funding available? Or have the board refused to make funds available? At the same time if the board had over-reacted and made a panic buy last night which didn't work out then they would be under more scrutiny and out of pocket. I hope that the board use the next 6 months wisely because there is now no excuse for lack of investment and with only 5 players signed to 2017, I expect a lot of new contracts to be handed out in the coming months and a signing in January to get the fans excited. I think the majority fans are grateful and take a lot of pride that we do things the 'right way' by not over spending beyond our means but the time has come to loosen the purse-strings just a bit. In the meantime hopefully injuries ease up and the new signings hit the ground running because this is our lot. Onwards and upwards.

FFS. Why do I come on here? Ryan, unfortunately, based on seeing old tweets that were resurfaced by childish Celtic fans, obviously does have some form of allegiance towards Celtic but to suggest him saying all the 'dream come true' type stuff at the press conference is disrespectful is an absolute joke. I hate the Old Firm more than most but if either side gave me a 4 year contract and £7000 a week that for me would still be a dream come true. Getting very well paid to play football for one of the biggest clubs and at one of the biggest stadiums in the UK would be a dream come true for pretty much any young boy. And don't get me started on the 'he shouldn't have worn the shirt' stuff. As if he had a choice? I hope this Celtic move turns out to be another stepping stone in Ryan's career and I can one day cheer him on in a Scotland shirt and I will wish him all the best when he eventually goes but until then I know he will continue to give 100% for us and continue to be the best player in an ICT shirt. After that he'll become just another wee Celtic mink and we'll develop more talented youngsters (which Celtic seem unable to do despite their budget, scouting network and facilities but thats another argument)

From the SPFL website : Inverness CT came out on top in the Highland derby, beating Ross County 4-2 at the Global Energy Stadium thanks to a double from Iain Vigurs and goals from Nat Wedderburn and Ali Sutherland. Tony Dingwall and Raffaele de Vita scored for County.

Over the past few months the ICTFC Community Team have been busy touring the highlands giving school children as northernly as Orkney the opportinity to see and hold the Scottish Cup. It was potentially an opportunity of a lifetime for the children that will hopefully act as a catalyst for inspiring the next generation of talented footballers. As well as the Cup tour the Community team were busy conducting their Summer Hotshots courses which took place in Fort William, Nairn, Milburn Academy and Milton of Leys Primary. The sessions which are led by licensed and certified SFA coaches saw over 350 children take part and learn more about football as well as make new friends in a fun and safe environment. The start of the school term has seen the weekly courses return with over 375 children from across Inverness taking part in the Soccer Schools. There are still space up for grabs for anyone who is intereted in sending their children along on the courses. Why do we keep signing unfit players?

Well said Laurence, and, more to the point, it's just part of football life and has been since the professional game was established a century and a half ago. Smaller teams lose their best players to larger and wealthier rivals. The small team invariably survives and, if lucky, goes on to develop further young talent and the cycle continues. Those who are having a dig at Ryan would almost certainly do the same as he has done where the fortunate enough and talented enough to find themselves in the same circumstances.

I'm sure he is very excited by this move but his reported comments really do illustrate the problems we face. We keep saying that one of the major factors in keeping gates down are the number of people who are local born and bred but who support the OF in preference to their local team. One can understand folk who developed an allegiance years ago before ICT existed, but youngsters like Ryan have grown up knowing nothing other than their local team being in the Scottish League system. In Ryan's case it is much worse. His Dad played for ICT, managed ICT and still works for ICT. Ryan himself has come up through the junior ranks of ICT and it is ICT, right from the Chairman down to everyone else in the club, who has supported him, helped him and nurtured him in becoming the player he is today. If anyone should be an ICT fan through and through it is Ryan Christie. If he isn't first and foremost an ICT fan, then can we really complain at anyone else for not being one? Maybe I am being a little unfair on the lad. He is, after all, paid to play football and not to communicate and the media will encourage a Celtic fan story line. But his sentiments as reported does the club no favours at all. Hopefully some more considered comments will be reported and in future Ryan will declare to the world that whilst delighted to be a Celtic player, he is first and foremost a fan of the club that has made him what he is - Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Well done to Ryan on getting the contract with Celtic, all the best for the future. So far the best young player to come through from the youth system lets hope there are more to come!

I don't think there will be any players coming in in January, I think the 6 months deals are to get us through the horrible injury list we have. Getting some of these guys back fit and well may be like a new signing for the team. My only real concern is that we have so many players out of contract at the end of the season. We have a lot of players I'd like to see us keep at the club. If the board realise many of us think this is a concern. I am sure they do and that they know what they are doing but I'd still like to see some contracts being renewed/extended. I'd like to see points on the board too but that's another matter!

Taking stock: that was a terrible last 2 transfer windows for us. We were probably a victim of our own success, leading to the loss of quality players like Mckay, Shinnie, Watkins, Ross, Christie, but I have been underwhelemed by the new players that I have seen so far (looking forward to seeing Roberts, though) and baffled by the recruitment of so many midfielders when strikers and defenders are what we so desparately need. It is so important to secure premiership status as early as possible in order to plan effectively for next year (with decent offers for the likes of Draper and Williams, Fon Williams maybe?) so that we have the spine of the team in place before the next window comes along. Back to longer contracts, please!

Good luck to the lad, maybe one day a top four club in England I remember when my old club Bury lost Colin Bell and Neville Southall and my Dad stopped going to the games in protest It's just part of life,

Sucking up to the fans of your new club is just part of the job. Everyone on here used to love it when Butcher talked up Inverness in the media. Hopefully Ryan keeps his head down and goes on to fulfil his potential on the big stage. Then again, a 20 year old, living in Glasgow, on £7k a week, with new found fame - it's easy to see how so many talented youngsters careers have gone off the rails at the Old Firm.

Why is he going to claim to be an ICT fan when he is clearly a Celtic one, he never tried to hide that just look at his twitter feed. i am sure he has great affection for ICT and always will, he has shown nothing but respect for ICT and I am sure he will continue to give his best while here. That's very harsh! We've not had a good start and things are not looking particularly rosy either but I think we all know we want to keep Yogi here. (obviously not the folk who are desperate for the day they can say "I told you so - never wanted him in the first place" but we'll ignore them)

The boy is a Celtic fan, he always gave his all for ICT and contributed greatly to our success last season and am sure will continue to give 100 % until he leaves. His sale has put some much needed cash in our coffers. Give the lad a break.....

I have kept quiet long enough, I am sick of the doom and gloom merchants telling us how clever they are by telling us our manager is not doing the right things. Next you will be saying that J H has done nothing for the club. You didn't want him in the first place and now you are ' calling ' him again. Why can't you lay off and give him another chance to prove you wrong and the same goes for our new arrivals, they haven't even unpacked their cases and you are not satisfied with them. What a welcome what a wonderful impression of our Club and supporters you are giving them.......sad sad sad!

Miles Storey might not be too bad a signing, has plenty of games under his belt for a 21 year old and we desperately need a striker, although we’ve had all bloody summer to find someone to score goals! Not sure about this Sho-Silva guy. A 20 year old with not much experience only in till January? I would much rather Play Ferguson or Sutherland than some unknown we’ll be losing in a few months!

It seems that both ourselves and Ro$$ County have swapped round in terms of our approaches to transfer dealings. Leaving aside the massive funding they get from 'Uncle Roy' *vomit* we used to mock them not too long ago with their apparent short sightedness to transfers handing out short term deals to players like the failed Dutch lads but look at how they're dealing with players and contracts these days. Now it seems the show is on the other foot and it doesn't fit well for me right now.

Would you point me to a single post I have made suggesting that ' the animal should be put down' during Yogi's tenure ? I have only ever called for the club to part company with one manager in our whole history and that was Craig Brewster towards the end of his second spell in charge. I note that you are not a 'happy clapper' Accordingly, when you are searching for posts of me calling for the manager to be culled you might also point me to some of your own posts in any way critical of the club. One thing I do agree with you on is that we all have differing views and opinions and thank goodness for that or these fora would be very dull indeed. Incidentally, are you still of the view that we will finish ahead of Aberdeen and are likely to be the only team to come close to Celtic in the league this season ?

Is Ryan Christie really so good ? How many goals has he actually scored/ assisted in how many games? He also seemed very lightweight against Partick & Hamilton recently. Great left foot and loads potential.....but ?

I personally find this Celtic / ICT love in pretty repulsive, seeing Ryan in the various tabloids this morning decked out in a Celtic top giving it the the thumbs up was really disrespectful no matter which way some try to cover it up Both clubs have handled this transfer badly, surely a better way would have been for him to have signed a pre contract that made him switch at the end of the season sparing us the pics of him decked out in the hoops of hate Getting him loaned back is like a kick in the teeth in my opinion Unfair singling out Ryan though as there appears to be an unhealthy problem within the ICT fanbase where a large number seem to support two SPFL clubs Regardless I wish him the best when he eventually heads down the A9 whenever that is, providing he is given the chance at Celtic I've no doubt he will hopefully use it as a stepping stone to the English Premiership Dougal
