April 20, 201511 yr No surprise to see that being the successful club that we are these days and producing one of the finest young Scottish talents in recent years the sniffing about is well and truly under way.... http://m.tamworthherald.co.uk/Baggies-linked-young-Scottish-midfielder/story-26360760-detail/story.html
April 20, 201511 yr We could do a lot worse than using some of our cup final income in extending young Ryan's contract for a further two years. We would be unlikely to keep him that long but we would get more for him when he leaves. Ryan is almost certainly destined for big things including being the first player we ever sell for a seven figure sum..
April 20, 201511 yr Author Agreed build on what we have at the moment signing the guys for next season. We know Ryan is going to leave one day I guess it's just how long can we hold onto him and how much will we get. Easily worth 7 figures considering some of the players that have moved on from Scotland recently! Or sell accept a nice 7 figure sum in the summer and have him on a season long loan? Best of both ....
April 20, 201511 yr Surprised by the West Brom link. Can't see a player like Christie fitting in well at a Tony Pulis team. "Right Ryan, when you get the ball, hoof it up to Berahino as quick as you can son."
April 23, 201511 yr Bump! In other news. Well done Ryan on been named on shortlist for SPFL Young Player of the Year. The full list is: -Ryan Christie (ICT) -Jason Denayer (Celtic) -Jamie Walker (Hearts) -Sam Nicholson (Hearts) No reason he can't win this.

But, yes - Christie for me!
April 23, 201511 yr Haven't seen much of the Hearts pair, but given that he is playing for one of the best teams in a higher league, surely Ryan must have an outstanding chance of getting this. Don't really get the fuss about Denayer, and I know that a lot of my Celtic-supporting work colleagues feel the same. Marley Watkins has handed him his @rse on a plate when we've played Celtic this season.
April 24, 201511 yr In an interview with STV Ryan saying he wants to stay at Inverness and learn his trade despite interest from down south. Old head on young shoulders and very refreshing to hear.

Being born and brought up as a Jambo I have great admiration for both Jamie Walker and Sam Nicholson. I was also at school with Sam's dad. Ryan is a great talent and thoroughly deserves the nomination. However I cant help feeling that the West Central Belt bias will see Denayer win it. I hope I'm wrong though.
April 25, 201511 yr "Inverness CT playmaker Ryan Christie is the target of several English Premier League clubs, including Everton and Newcastle United. However, the youngster expressed his desire to remain in his hometown for foreseeable future, and it is believed a fee of around £1 million would be required to persuade the club to part with their highly promising youngster. Question i have is, should loan players even be allowed to be nominated since they are coming from a higher level of club.

''Question i have is, should loan players even be allowed to be nominated since they are coming from a higher level of club.'' Surely that's a question for the Compliance Officer - he dabbles in many things.
May 17, 201511 yr This article suggests that Christie has just picked up the Writers' Young Player of Season http://m.scotsman.com/sport/football/spfl/ryan-christie-and-caley-were-born-to-be-together-1-3775114
May 17, 201511 yr Looks like it! Superb achievement! Cue whinging from Celtic! http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32771773
May 17, 201511 yr Given the BBC had him playing for County earlier this year, I will wait til a more reliable news agency, North Korea maybe, confirm it. But seriously, well done! Edited May 17, 201511 yr by HawkeyeTheGnu
May 17, 201511 yr Looks like it! Superb achievement! Cue whinging from Celtic! http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32771773 Brilliant accolade! That's another 'first' for the achievements list!!
May 18, 201511 yr Looks like it! Superb achievement! Cue whinging from Celtic! As predicted: this one of several ill-informed comments on the Scotsman article about Ryan winning the award: "Never heard of the lad so good of the hootsman to inform us that he played for Inverness Thistle. I think this is one of those cases where it is definitely a case of the players knowing more than the 'football writers'. The players voted for Jason Denayer and on all checks and balances - appearances, trophies, international recognition - that would be the correct decision. It seems that the 'football writers' have gone more with the heart as I suspect very few of them have seem the lad play any more than a handful of games this season...." Everything through green-tinted specs, you understand!
