In Dunc I TRUST

So I may be biased and protective of a player who was a real club man and a fighter (in many ways!!). He is getting a load of negative flak at the moment but if there was one person that I would pick to be in the trenches with me it is Dunc. He has been up against it from the off. IMHO scapegoated from the off and now taking hits for the bunch of self motivated morons who are the people responsible for bringing this club to its knees. Duncs main problem is that he has nowhere near the quality of players required to bring any footballing system to fruition. We currently have the worst squad of players that we have ever had - a mottley crew of cheap loanees desperate for playing time to progress their own careers. Unfortunately the ones with potential have picked up the injuries. There has been no consistency and I hazard a guess that most fans would have difficulty in picking a first X1. But what Dunc does bring to the party is pure passion and the Dunkirk spirit. The next two games are must wins and if Dunc can instill the passion and drive we will survive. And I am referring to passion and not from a skill or system perspective. Dunc needs to instill a "dogs of war" mentality and the players have to give the fans a degree of hope. So I am predicting six points in the next two games - however accomplished and escaping in 8th place at the end of the season.

Now it is clear Ferguson & Bollan  remain as management team, folks should not forget he had 30+ games to keep us up……. And didn’t!, Took in numerous loanees who were no better than what we had, g

He's only here cos we can't afford to pay him off. The previous chairman said as much in one of his last interviews.

Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow! What a boring set up Ferguson seems to think is progressive football. If only the players could sit in the stand and see what we fans have to put up with perhaps they might decide that going forward instead of sideways and backwards could actually result in goals. However it would appear that the manager wants this sleep inducing format to continue as he obviously lacks the coaching knowledge to change tactics. Perhaps it's therefore time to change those in charge

Thought the first 45minutes we got forward and moved the ball quickly through Duffy and Bray out in the wide areas. Unfortunately with Billy now playing just in front of Devine,we only had Brookes up front. Ferguson really needs to re think how to get the best out of Billy McKay

Second half we either seemed to  run out of steam or worse  run out of ideas.

Really hoped to see something different today - some youthful enthusiasm and a bit of urgency about the play. Up and at 'em.

Nope!

Even I was bored as feck yesterday but it’s not just Ferguson. The euros for me were over when Austria and Georgia went out. With the supposed talent England had Southgate was using the Dunc method. Germany weren’t any better but were given false hope after their opening game against a bunch of no hopers.

I have been wondering if our young team can last the full 90 minutes.

Was going to say that it doesn't bode well for when the pitches become heavier during the winter.  But then I remembered that 8 out of the 10 are artificial.

So maybe it'll be another season when our away results are better than our home results...

Can’t help but notice IHE started up this thread on April 1st ! 🧐

Interesting to see if Ferguson changes his tactics and attitude to our younger players following Alan Savage's involvement particularly as he is a great believer in our youth academy.

Fingers crossed Charlie has had a word, particularly with our wide men ( I know they're still youngsters but avoided the term wide boys as we've seen enough of them), telling them to ignore the pigeon fanciers obsessive ball retention/ recycling/repetion tactics & just try to take on the full back and /or whip balls in to the "corridor of uncertainty" every now & then.

It’s Billy Mckay’s 300th game for us tomorrow. Let’s see him restored to the striker role!

Probably playing sweeper.

Glad to see Christie clear up his position here and the fact he won't be interfering with how Ferguson sets out his team or tactics.

It's not his job as ceo to do that but it will be his job to do review who is manager if results don't improve.  I think he made that point pretty clear.

I was being tongue in cheek but I take your point

Hopefully reality will set in for Dunc as well ...

He was a battler as a player now it is time to be the same as a manager (just in a less physical way). You are getting no money, Charlie already told you that, no pie-in-the-sky schemes to bring fans to the stadium on a monorail instead of a bus, no phygital new owners in the foreseeable future, and nothing but scrutiny, penny pinching, and trying to get the best out of your young (and capable) players. Players that need to be nurtured, coached, and supported by you, and by us, even when things don't go right.

Big Dunc's new era can start this week ... if he wants to, and if he can swallow his pride and realise he has to get on with it with the lads he has, and with the realisation that he has to use tactics and style of play they can handle. If he can make that change, while everything else at the club is also changing, then perhaps a line can be drawn in the sand where we all move forwards, onwards and upwards for ICTFC, all pulling in the right direction.  Or it can all go to shit, and we can be subject to the same dross as before where ultimately Big Dunc will lose all credibility and future career as a manager...

I think we all know this duds time is running out, especially if we get new investment and results don't improve because MOST new owners change manager unless it's going very well in terms of results and league position etc so it's just a case of, how long does he have left 🤔.

I trust Messrs Savage and Christie with this one, certainly more than I did with clowns Gardiner and Morrison!

I also think it may be positive that he's not able to sign anyone else because he'd just sign more dross on loan instead of playing the capable youngsters we have here!

Oh for inspiration!  First half against Montrose devoid of any creative midfield play that I can remember. Had to shake myself to stop nodding off 💤. Hopefully the second half injects some spark in play, tactics or individual courage.

Was he saying goodbye to the fans after the game today? Hearing rumours he's going to resign.

I would be very surprised but certainly glad if he does indeed resign as I have a feeling he's too stubborn/arrogant to realise that it's not working but I suppose if fans are letting their feelings be known then he may a) believe that it's in his best interests to resign or b) he's fearful of the current interim chairman and ceo or new investors sacking him as soon as they can.  I forgot one would respect him more if he finally did the right thing by resigning and would wish him all the success in future, most likely back at Goodison in some capacity.

It's simple we are stuck with him unless he resigns which I don't think he will do as he is making a fortune compared to our average fan here in Inverness unless there is some clause in his contract that we could sack him for performance reasons but remember it was Gardiner and Morrison that signed him and they are unlikely to be savvy enough to have done that!  He will be back at Nairn with the team on Tuesday night.

I don’t care if Sir AF backs him, this manager is taking us nowhere. A full time team  in a predominantly part time league, with a manager, assistant manager, first team coach ( kellacer), goal keeping coach, twenty five or six  or seven full time players, supporting staff, video analysis guy, so well resourced, and we can’t seem to improve or get better under DF and his inept staff. Enough is enough. Come on AS and the culpable board, you can see it too, surely ??????? ☹️👎
