  1. So why did we finish 7th then? I am with you on most of what you say, but this whole "We had a team capable of top 6" thing is a load of pish. We've been close to top 6 on a couple of occasions and done the "just a few changes" thing and it's made no difference. Butcher felt it needed more radical action, and all respect to him for having the gonads to take the chance in doing what he did. Munro and Duncan were club heroes, I get that, but they weren't single handedly bringing success to the club. People need to get over it and move on. As I've said before, I'm not expecting top 6 this season. You have to be VERY fortunate to make such a big change and see immediate success from it. For me, this season is building season and as frustrating as that might be for the fans, we have to look at what the change in style and attitude might bring long term. I remember being at a seminar about change...or more specifically, knowing when not to change. If you really believe everything you're doing is right and the results are bad then is it really you, or is it external forces? If it's external forces, can you change to counter them and if/when they change again can you quickly adapt back or is it better to ride the storm and see your plan through. It's easy to witness failure and believe change is the answer....but it's not always. Granted, I would have hoped for a bit more than what we're witnessing at present, but when you look beyond the results at the games then there's really not a lot that needs to change for these results to be going the other way. A wee rub of the green and some of the shots that hit the woodwork find the back of the net, a few players back from injury and the chance to play a formation that is selected and not forced upon us and everything changes. IMO this is the first time in a long time a manager at ICT has the "luxury" of succeeding or failing by his own hand. He's got his team out there playing things his way and only time will tell whether he got it right or wrong. Being just a handful of games into the season is not the time to be judging, it's the time to be getting right behind the manager and team to give them every opportunity of making the plan succeed. I've lost count of the number of times over they years that ICT have won games and the opposition fans were saying "we should never have lost to them". The show is on the other week. It's not nice, but sometimes chit happens and you just have to get up, brush yourself down and get on with it.

  2. First of all i don't think anyone on this thread is calling for Butchers head. I don't understand why everyone is moaning that we want him out when no one is saying that. I also dont think we are a wee team in terms of Scottish football. Last night we played Ayr United who are significantly smaller than us at the present time and yet we weren't even able to score ONE against them. They completely out classed us in the first half and we deserved to go out. Everyone who has came on here to discuss last nights fiasco is well in their rights to be frustrated with that performance last night. It was embarrasing to watch. I only ask how long do we keep up with these stupid excuses of "the team needs more time to gel" If it takes this long to gel a team then is it really worth it? I don't think so. We had a team capable of top 6 last season so why not keep the bulk of that squad and improve it with 2 or 3 new faces, There were players that got released that are better than the current crop of players that has been brought in and Terry Butcher is the only person responsible for that. I am behind Terry Butcher at the moment but at what point in the season does it become acceptable to start criticising Terry Butcher if we aren't allowed to do so right now? It seems like he is untouchable and will be here regardless of how poor we do this season. Do we wait until we have played everyone once and possibly bottom after 11 games? 22? 33? 38? Or maybe next season in the first. We came up first time of asking last time, i'm not too sure we'd be able to do it again.

  3. Not at the match so cannot comment on our play but I do feel I have a right to comment on the thread content! I always thought that the Ugly Sisters had the most fickle fans, followed by the Dons fans BUT we are top of the league for this. I am almost ashamed to be part of this thread with all the attack on, what I believe to be, one of the best managers in the SPL. It was only a little while ago that 'McCoist failure at Ibrox will usher TB into their hot seat' was being spoken about on this Forum, with a 'woe is us if he goes'. Now ... he is rubbish and we will be well rid of him .. in fact we are so damned important as a team that there is queues, miles long, of better managers waiting to take his seat and lead us into Europe!! Wake up, we are a wee team, playing with players earning wee wages who, if they were any good, would be playing for a club paying them twice as much. It is our ability to play as a team, with the aid of our managers enthusism, that allows us to punch above our weight and to undermine that enthusism with all the crap on here is sad. If I were Terry and ventured onto this site I would be looking elsewhere for employment and thinking ... folk from the Highlands have no loyalty.

  7. Indeed. Terry was complaining to the press in July that the early start to the season was ridiculous and none of the teams were ready. Wrong Terry, you weren't ready, none of the others seem to have had much trouble with it. Everyone knew the date months ago and got their teams assembled and prepared accordingly.

  8. Seemingly Butcher is going to sign an 18 yr old Dutch striker on saturday morning, he's only just left school but he shows great promise, and given 84 games could turn out to be another Rooney.

  9. Aldred came to Inverness expecting to be in the starting line-up every game. It didn't work out that way so he has chosen to leave in the hope of finding a club who will give him the games he wants. Thats his choice and we must respect that and move on from it. What we must also do is get a settled team together and get playing football again.

  10. Ok so of all seasons in the SPL this is how our first 5 matches have went. 2004-2005 - with 3 points. P5 W1 D0 L4 Beat Ross County in League Cup Finished 8th 2005-2006 - with 8 Points P5 W2 D2 L1 Beat Alloa in the League Cup Finished 7th 2006-2007 - with 3 points P5 W0 D3 L2 Beat Dumbarton in the League Cup Finished 8th 2007-2008 - with 0 points P5 W0 D0 L5 Beat Arbroath in the League Cup Finished 9th 2008-2009 - with 7 points P5 W2 D1 L2 Beat Arbroath in the League Cup Finished 12th and relegated 2010-2011 - with 4 points P5 W1 D1 L3 Beat Queens Park and Peterhead in the League Cup Finished 7th THIS SEASON 2011-2012 - 1 point P5 W0 D1 L4 LOST to Ayr in the League Cup Finished ?? We are potentially only one win away from being in the same position as we were in four of those seasons then. I think the fall out has came from the way we ended last season and the sense of encouragement and joy fans had from last season, we fully expected the team to kick on from that. There is nothing to say that we will not as there are 33 games of the league season still to go but I just think it is the nature of the defeats and performances that have people asking the questions they are.

  11. Agree with ICT and Old Caley Girl, I can't actually find one quote on here that says he must go. Can anyone actually provide me with one from this thread or even the site that says he must go? We are all fans of the club that care about them a lot who pay our money to the club in some capacity or another and are entitled to be asking questions, that is what we are doing asking questions and voicing concerns and sicussing the current climate of our club.

  12. Woeful! There are no excuses. Stop using injuries as a reason for that performance. If Foran was angry at his own performance at Aberdeen then god knows how he feels after that rubbish! Beaten by the best off 2 terrible teams and that team is a poor SFL1 team. Got to feel sorry to Tuffy. That's his last game until January in the Scottish Cup.

  13. I don't really care where is ranks in worst defeats and all that guff. There was no excuse for a performance like that. We played the stongest team we had available and it should be good enough to beat Ayr (no offence to them). Rosscoe seemed to be giving everything and that realy was it. As bizare as it seems I see last night as a defining point in our season already. It will either be the kick up the ass and we actually move on or it will just tip the players over the edge and relegation is a given. Sadly I fear the the relegation but at least I am prepared. PS thanks Ayr for letting us stand. Feck off Stewards for finding a fight where there wasn't one buy advising we were standing in the wrong place!

  14. We've had a few defeats to lower league sides in cups. This defeat feels worse as it's combined with a horror start to the season, with no light at the end of the tunnel.

  15. Our record in the League Cup is shocking, we've had a poor start to the season and there will always be cup 'shocks'. This to me was not a shock in the slightest, in fact I almost put some money on it. It is a competition that we never do well in and it might serve as a bit of a kick up the @rse to be on the end of a result like that. We are out of the diddy cup, lets address the league form and get on with things.

  16. Bad result - yes Should we have done & expected better - yes Crisis - no (not yet anyways) The team has seen wholesale changes and injuries, not condoning the poor performance, but its not the first time we have had a poor start to a season. As for TB loosing the dressign room, I dont think so - hopefully this result will prompt a response on Sat. Think its to early to start calling this a crisis and questioning TB, if we are still in this situation come the end of the first full round of SPL games then perhaps we need to re-think then. Remember in several games (not last night perhaps) we have been very unlucky with the results and decissions.

  18. No matter what the cup was tonight we really should have won, but looking at our early season form we were there for the taking tonight and ayr knew it. We have 8 first team injuries along with some new players. The next few weeks are going to be tough but we have to stick in there. A few players back and some points on the board will def change the mood. I am fully behind Terry and co and hate the instant calls for his head and such like. We have been in decent league positions and not so good ones. Look at killie last year they started poor and finished well up the league. Let's be patient for a bit longer and maybe the right team selection will be found and hopefully a new striker will be added before the window closes.

  19. If we can't beat a team like Ayr Utd, some of whom were doing a shift at thier work today, then getting anywhere in the SPL at this time is beyond us.

  22. What strikers are available to bolster squad - probably if going to happen it will be another short term loan from an English team until McKay finds his feet....

  23. Is that because Shane changes the game or is it because we're chasing it by that point? It is becos - despite his inexpetience - that we have the one player who has feckin trained to be a more traditional centre forward - he may be raw and prone to mistakes - but he is frankly all that we have got at the moment.

  24. I have to concur and agree with RIG - I would have persevered with Hogg and Aldred - but as Mary Hill says we have to accept and move on - BUT such events do have a MAJOR influence on the dressing room. This could be a case of a player being too big fer his boots, fall out with Terry ana Mo and a rightful dressing down - but humiliation is not the answer. Golbart's signing was an evident sign that the Tanks days were numbered. But I cant help feeling that Tel Boy is losing the dressing room and that is as much down to his constant chopping and changing.

  25. The fact of the matter is, no he isn't and nor should he be, though he seems to be in some people's eyes. Getting rid of Duncan was daft and getting rid of Munro was particularly stupid and the team is not as good without them. While I am not calling for his head, perhaps with this result and this start to the season, he should ask himself whether he has taken this club as far as he can. Kind of reminds me of the old Bela Guttman adage - "The third season is the killer". Perhaps that rings true in this case too.

  26. Think you need to take a closer look at the GERS reports for the last few years to see who is subsidising who. It's always better to take your information and form opinion from the source instead of relying on how one or other side spins it before putting it to press. There is also the matter of taxpayers in Scotland paying more to subsidise expensive education for future fast food retail managers. If we must payroll the free education for universities, instead of a gap year which many take introduce a community service program where they can make a genuine difference to their communities doing whatever their chosen career path dictates. Yngwie, sign here.

  27. As bad as the start to the season has been maybe this was actually the over-riding result that the players needed to get them sorted, get them focused and stop them from feeling sorry for themselves. There comes a point where we just have to say right enough is enough and start getting it right. For these guys the only thing that matters or the only thing that should matter now is winning and doing well for the team, it is their job, a very good one at that but at the end of the day they are terribly underperforming and need to sort it out quick. We have no time for people to feel sorry for themselves or feel embarressed or down, step up to the plate and be a man, start making the difference that you undoubtedly became a footballer for but start doing it as a team and start playing for each other, show some urgency and self belief and stop trudging about with your heads hitting the floor. I don't want to see players heads go down if we concede a goal or huff and puff if we misplace a pass, I want to see some fight and some encouragement for others and take a bit of pride in what you do. Start fighting as a team and you'll win as a team, start thinking as an individual and you'll lose as an individual. Terry if you ever needed a stronger word or team talk than you do now you could do a lot worse than make use of the above.

  28. Ywingie, I think that Celtic, Rangers, Dundee United and hearts would disagree with you. The early start was designed to help them, and them only and they seem to have royally fecked it up. It's amazing how many people think that Grantie and Russell Duncan would have made all the difference to the start we've had. mince - with this run of injuries they would not have made a jot of difference. The only one that we really miss is Adam Rooney, but could we afford to pay him his reputed £10K a week? Think not. As for injuries, how can you blame the training. It's a contact sport and generally, if you get hurt it's bad luck or malice. You might occasionally get someone prone (Proctor/ hamstring comes to mind) but the rest? pure ill fortune. It'll get better.

  29. I decided last night not to log in as I feared being banned due to the rage I was in I'm still seething but feel I can now get my point over without using to many expletives Was last nights result the worst result in the clubs history it must be up there in the top two or three if not? Let's not kid ourselves we were beaten by one of the poorer first division 1 sides who are all part timers if I'm not mistaken, guys who probably are posties, plumbers, bakers , traffic wardens, kfc employees and so on Whether Butcher has lost the dressing room I certainly am not going to speculate but there is something seriously wrong with either team morale or the tactics being deployed The league table doesn't lie and only highlights the crisis we now find ourselves in Worst result in 17 years ? Yes I sadly think it probably is dougal

  30. From memory, I've seen seen crowds of people with their shoes off and representatives of the supporters trust calling for a leader's head for a lot less than this .......... Perhaps we are on the verge of a second witch hunt or maybe a tad more decorum will be given to this incumbent than previous? I hope so.
