The Northern lights of Old Aberdeen Mean S**** F*** A** to me The Northern lights have long gone out 'cos it's not '83
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=f3YQGQykLXA Just saw this on e-ticketing. Bring on the Celtic, United, Hibs, the Dons and anyone else whos up for it.
  3. As previously stated a pretty mediocre deal accepted at the depths of the recession. Not comfortable, in any event, with a shirt sponsor who attempts to meddle in the boardroom.
  4. There's only one John Hughes!
  5. Personally speaking, Brisbane would be nice
  6. First of I want to put it out there that I like Strachan as Scotland manager. He's passionate, he's positive and he says the right things. However it dismays me that he can continue to overlook Graeme Shinnie when he's clearly been the best Scottish left back in the country this season. We're in the middle of 2 friendlies which are perfect for trying out new players in the squad. Yet he hasn't even been mooted, despite some excellent performances, especially in recent weeks. Yet a player who hasn't played Scottish top flight football for a year and a half gets in every time simply because of who he plays for. (Note- Lee Wallace is playing well from what I've heard. But he should be able to coast it against plumbers, chippies and sparky's anyway). It's even worse now that Mulgrew is out and Hanley is very doubtful for the Norway game. This probably means a full back like Whittaker or Martin partnering Greer. Shinnie has even shown this season that he's very apt on the opposite side and the way he talks about it shows he has a class attitude "It's just like playing left back only on your weaker foot" (said in a very nonchalant manner). He plays for the team 2nd in Scotland. He's been ever present and good all season. He keeps improving. is it just me or if he was playing for Hibs, Hearts, Dundee Utd and yet in the league positions they are in now, he'd have more chance of a look in?

Finally got around to recording "The Red and The Blue" (ICT) will be on you tube next week, it's a slow song but hope the fans will use the chorus as a chant in the way used by the French in the 70's. For lyrics see previous post. We are recording a more upbeat song called "Caley on the Rise" which has a more Highland feel to it and which is a thanks to the efforts of past players and officials who strove to put the club where it is now. It should be up on you tube 2nd week of March lyrics below. Apologies for any loss of sound quality, this is due to compressing files from WAV to MP3. Caley on the Rise From our northern bright enchanted skies Came a dawn that saw our own stars rise With a team that raised our highland pride We dreamed our dreams of Caley on the rise Caley on the rise man caley on the rise When we beat the Glasgow celtic it came as no surprise and the best of Scottish Football could scarce believe their eyes What they had just been witness to was Caley on the rise On our journey from the highland leagues Some dared to dream o higher deeds Of a team that raised our highland pride they dreamed our dream of Caley on the rise Chorus Here's a health to heroes of our past Here's a health to those who dreamed the most Of a team that raised our highland pride They dreamed our dream of Caley on the rise Chorus
  8. Enjoyed tonight. The laughs were had with all the stories. And thanks to John Hughes for coming out tonight.
  9. Donald Trump, he has a Highland connection and he must be getting really sick of Aberdonians by now.

    Can't see that catching on.
  15. I wouldn't want their name on our shirts but Tesco should give us a multimillion pound deal as an as an apology for ruining the city. Their colourway would fit in well too.
  16. Couldnt decide so went for half union jack/ half green stripes as it was cheaper. lol All will be revealed in good time.
  17. Both derbies have been rather telling in terms of what a full strength team can do. We were very much down to the bear bones when we played County on New Years day. Foran and Vincent were both injured, Watkins only lasted about half an hour and Tansey hadnt rejoined by that point. Tansey has brought a different dimension to the midfield, he sees passes that no one else can pick out and I dont know if its just me but he seems to have beefed up a bit during his time away. Foran's leadership was dreadfully missed during his spell injured, he lead the line like no other on Tuesday. Vincent and Watkins were probably the best 2 signings of the summer next to Brill. Vincent has offered a great go between for midfield and attack while Watkins has proven himself to be the best of the 3 wingers signed over pre season. You add all that up and it comes as no surprise that the return of these guys has seen a major change in form. We are chocca with quality and the last 2 games have been a huge step forward under Yogi and Russell's tenure...hoping that there will be more to come.
  18. Actually to be fair to the guy - just by coincidence at exactly the same time I let out a massive blood curdling screech as I let my last Jelly Baby slip out of my grasp ! I think the Ref took his eye of the Kiss guy as instead he must have seen me slurping away at fresh air !

I am seething at that. Richie Foran should get 20!

Why not just have Caledonia? lets not have a cringefest with someone singing lyrics to do with Ross County and winning at Celtic Park in 2000.
  22. Might cause problems for the ballboys and girls.
  23. Put it on stilts in the middle of the Ness next to the Greig St bridge.
  24. a football stadium should be within a city limits not on the outskirts! We are not Inverness-shire CT lol. The Bught being redeveloped as a sporting complex as described by Alex would have been my choice
  25. Think I'd probably buy some land along the Longman. I'd then have a one stand stadium designed that looked totally unfinished. I'd add a couple of stands behind the goals and also add some unuseable terracing to finish of the fourth side. Joking aside I'd be looking at the Bught and spending around 30 million or so on a sporting complex. 10k oval stadium + 4G pitches, indoor arena, tennis courts, fitness suite etc.
  26. Coincidentally I am writing this just two days after the 20th anniversary of the formal creation of "Inverness Thistle and Caledonian FC", the limited company on which the club is based, in Balnain House on February 24th 1994. The inaugural board eventually chose the current site about three months later. As it happens, what you have suggested was more or less what a consultant called Bruce Hare was commissioned to do at that time and he published his final report in March 1994. A lot more land has been taken up by subsequent development, but even 20 years ago it was pretty apparent that Inverness was not at all well endowed with suitable stadium sites. A long list of eleven sites was very quickly reduced to four since most of them were fatally flawed and this then came down to just two which would actually fit the bill. These were the current one (which was the strong preference of the club) and Stratton Farm beyond the Retail Park (which was the strong preference of Invernes and Nairn Enterprise). So the top and bottom lines are that respondents here might be hard pushed to come up with viable answers.
  27. Hi Guys we are now at stage 5, with thanks to the generosity of all of the above posters and more who gave their word they would donate to your flag. Unfortunately the Who pulled out but the rest of us pulled together and are making it happen.
  28. Remember the days of following the scores on Ceefax?!
  29. Had to laugh last night - was "watching" the game via BBC text updates (is there a worse medium for following football?) and was so surprised that Raven had scored, especially given the description that he turned in a cross from Oikonomu, or something like that), my son was certain it was an own-goal and made me cross-check against other websites. Oh he of little faith: Dave the Rave positively ripped that in from 1 yard!
  30. As noted by Ywingwie, it was Raven's first goal for the club, but the other two goals were also 'mile-stones'. Marley Watkins goal was also his maiden strike for Inverness while Billy's goal takes his tally to 50 for ICT in all competitions - in his 100th appearance. 100 caps, 50 goals...the ratio of a top striker!
  31. HAPPY DAYS - 4 tickets bought for the final. Flight from Australia booked. Be there for the Hibees match too. Cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're getting mixed up with the traditions of the Scottish Cup final.
  33. I'll put in £21 just to raise the bar ;)
  34. Molesworth now plays in Division 2 of the Midland Football Combination for Bromsgrove Sporting. I also see that his boastful and exaggerated Wikipedia page is now gone altogether. In fact, when you put his name into the Wikipedia search box, it helpfully asks "Did you mean Liam Polworth?"
  35. Like Chris Hogg?!... Chris Hogg had been playing for the club for around 6 months before he got injured.
