  1. Who gives a toss about casual supporters and non football fans - Who gives a feck about the score and the performance yesterday. This is the most defining moment yet in our feckin history and summat I am not going to miss - irrespective of whether there are 3,000 or 10,000 sitting around me. I would rather watch and sing with the people who I know are dedicated to the cause.
  2. This thread by Yngwie refers to our ability to 'come back' in games after conceding. But after yesterday's result, how do we generally 'bounce back' from hammerings? We don't get turned-over easily, very often - but when it does happen, we have incredible resilience... Going all the way back to the 6-0 drubbing from Airdrie in 2001, our response to a heavy defeat has always been positive - indeed, we've often then gone on a great run! The only time, in this sequence, we've not responded positively was this season, when we lost 4-0 at Perth and then lost the subsequent game - but even that didn't stop another sequence of great form immediately after! 2001 Airdrie 6-0 Inverness Followed by : D W D W W 2003 Inverness 1-5 Ross County W W W D W 2007 Celtic 5-0 Inverness W W W D 2008 Rangers 5-0 Inverness W D 2009 Falkirk 4-0 Inverness W 2010 Celtic 6-0 Inverness W W D W D 2012 Inverness 1-5 Motherwell W W D W W D W D D W D 2013 St. Johnstone 4-0 Inverness L D W W W W D W
  3. Nice to see someone give it a go. What have the 3 others posters come up with? Well done.
  4. Couldn't care less about matches against the Old Firm (what there is left). And I don't just mean when it's ICT. It's boring. Just exhibitions. Will Barcelona beat Blackpool? Yeah, of course, unless the multi-millionaires can't be bothered. Who will win the SPL this year? Who will win it next? They aren't worth bothering about.
  5. Think 6 points out of 9 makes this a decent week for us no? Ask me that question again after the next three games. Kingsmills I'm obviously a half full glass kinda girl whilst you're a glass half empty guy ha ha? Top 6 almost confirmed and agreed a big couple of weeks to come. Bring it on! I think we'll be top six net year. Can't see it happening this season, IMHO. I think you may be proved wrong.
  6. It won't do near as much harm as the inane pessimism emanating from a few of our own fans. If you want to do your part to promote the club and the final then try a bit of positivity....if you're really lucky, it might even help you crack a smile.
  7. I stayed a B&B in Carlisle a few years ago and the owners had two West Highland pooches, one was called Caley and the other was called Thistle. They were not ICT fans but liked the name of the team!
  8. Sorry but why are people accepting this result like it doesn't matter. Yes it was at Parkhead against the champions elect but to accept a total grubbing without response is ridiculous. I wasn't at the game but I got a good account from my wife who was there, albeit in her role as a support worker and in the wrong area, and her words couldnt be repeated on here. She says we were totally outplayed and outmuscled. We had no fight just sat back and took it. Regardless whether we were going to get beat or not we should still have been doing a hell of a lot more to at least minimise the deficit. Those goals against could be the difference between europe and no europe. The league is the bread and butter, the cups are bonuses. If this game had been played before we knew our cup fate the thread would be full of anger.
  9. Just wondering if anyone else ever named their pets after any football teams/players? My border collie dog is called Caley.
  10. I can understand their hunger. After all, a league game against us is a bit like a cup final for them.
  11. I have one cockatiel called Juanjo, and another called Robbo. Incidentally, Robbo ran off with Juanjo's bird and made her pregnant.............oooft
  13. Think 6 points out of 9 makes this a decent week for us no?
  14. Totally agree! Thought it should have been done at half time if at all! Players already warmed up standing getting cold too!
  15. Was there. We were outclassed. This may though go down as the greatest result of our season. Next Sunday's game is very important. The Cup Final is important. We are virtually certain to be in the Top 6. Only Hibs can catch us and that is very unlikely. We will respond. Celtic are out of both cups and have the League only to concentrate on. They responded like dynamite from their Aberdeen loss. They gambled £1,000 on Van Dijk's appeal. They were up for celebrating Fergus McCann saving them from disaster. We lost Doran who would have given them some extra worries. History.
  16. Obviously the cup final has made people far more optimistic about the season as a whole, but I think the way this result is apparently being shrugged off is as much to do with the fact that it has come on the back of two decent league wins. Given that John Hughes has had a patchy start in the league, I think a lot of people were quietly pessimistic about the County game, yet it sounds like the performance and tactics were excellent. Even for a game where getting anything was going to be a long shot, there's no question that yesterday's performance was very poor - from your paraphrase, your wife's analysis was spot on - but, imho, there's not much point in being heavily critical unless this turns out to be the start of a run of poor performances.
  17. Personally I think the club and CJT have done extremely well to secure 13 buses and two trains at relatively short notice. Companies like D&E will have the biggest portion of their fleet already earmarked months and possibly years in advance. They may hold a few for short notice hire but they certainly wouldn't want large numbers of coaches sitting in the pound not making money. On the point of subsidy I dont think we should expect any more from D&E than they already do for the club. On the point of availability os seats I'd reckon that, taking all seats available into account, there will be quite a few empty. Is there really such a difference between taking bus and taking train? I'd be happy with either. In fact I'd probably prefer the train. Get to Glasgow by whatever means and join the party. Wish I had the problem of working out how to get there. As it is I'll be working.

Oh and as for an 'official' club anthem, the singing section have been singing cant help falling in love by Elvis for years and works a treat! So heres an idea, play that ;)
  19. Anyway back on topic!!!!! This is abit of a novel but please read cheers Been having a think and browse on google maps and if we were looking to move anytime soon, the only two viable options i can see working is the current Longman campus of inverness college and funnily enough Stratton Farm. Firstly the Longman. If you took the college site along with the bus depot (which is actually not used anymore so potentially viable) the area of land which is left is rather sizeable. Infact it is similar size to the new st mirren park site on Greenhill road. A 6/7k stadium, with community 3G pitch plus parking etc could fit in that site no problem. The positives of this site - VERY close to city centre/pubs/shops/train station. Another plus is its next door to police station which may come in handy when the filth visit. Its also less than a mile away from both Caley and Thistle heartlands Negatives - that area can get awfully conjested at peak times and on especially on Saturdays, so add football trafic and you may have a problem. Also the possibilty of having a ground right across from the Fire Service and police station may cause concern if there happened to be an emergancy and the over conjestion would cause problema for them. However it could be argued that due to the close proximity of the city centre, people are more likely to walk or use public transport. The Stratton Farm site may have been seen as 'out of town' back in 94 but it most certainly is not now! With the retail park next door, a University campus being built opposite and the ever expanding housing schemes of Cradlehall, Westhill, Culloden, Smithton (and not to forget Tulloch wish to build a 'new' village in that area) surrounding that site, Stratton just seems to good an opportunity to grow as a community focused club! Positives - unlimited space for a stadium/stadium expansion, community facilities or football Academy, parking. Like in 94 the public transport to that area is good if not better now. Its close to A9/A96 for easy in/out access for away fans in particular. If they ever did build a new road like they said they would behind the retail park, it would give home fans potentially 3 different ways to get out of the area. Negatives - atleast 2 miles from city centre/train station/pubs. However with a new uni campus and new 'village' being built i can see there being more pubs in the future. Also the club may actually build a proper social/sports bar, why not? They'll have the space. Also the town centre is dying, simples. Shops and pubs are shutting all the time. It has been mentioned several times Inverness is the fastest growing city in the UK and that by 2030 Raigmore roundabout will infact be the the centre of Inverness. In that case Stratton farm would be ideal if you are looking for a stadium which is central and has a large community outlook! If i was the decision maker, i would be building a St mirren esque 7k stadia (seats and terracing) at Stratton farm! I would have a sports bar which would be open to the wider community during the week for functions/weddings etc. i would also have a purose built club shop within the sports bar so LG has something more suitable for all the hard work she does! And if possible i would join forces with the UHI and share their new sports facilities. A sports academy for students, players, youth teams and the inverness community. Hearts for example share their Riccarton base with Heriot university and look what wonders that has done for them!! I would also start up a scholarship programme for local and foreign younsters to get the chance to play for ICT buy playing in reserves whilst studying on campus. Personally i believe the possibilities of a stadia at stratton are HUGE. its a real shame we never went there 20 year ago. Because for all the money we spent at longman what have we got to show for it? And what possibilities is there for the future at longman? Feck all thats what. Getting to cup finals and europe is great sure, however what i would love more is if ICT could start a Legacy which will benefit the Inverness community in a way never seen before!! Thank you for reading ;) x
  20. The size of the reverse is a bit of a blow, I wonder if minds were on the next three games, after the way the first half went....if we were to win them all, I guess we wont care...will we?
  21. The next 3 games to shape our season for sure!
  22. Probably best to write this off as one of those days. They are a better and better-resourced side which probably played with a certain amount of wounded pride, and we just didn't get started. Lazy c&p of what I posted over on Pie and Bovril: It was an absolute stroll for Celtic. It has been a few years since we offered so little threat at Celtic Park - even in the 5-0 game in Brewster's first game back in charge for his second spell, we created several clear chances early on. What struck me was that we seemed to be slower all over the park - going forward, Ross and Vincent were consistently outpaced or outmuscled, and when Celtic were attacking, we didn't seem able to track their movement properly. There was also some uncharacteristically bad defending - Shinnie lost Mulgrew for the second, Raven was shrugged off by Griffiths for the third, and the fourth was a complete howler from Brill, who otherwise had a better game than the scoreline suggests. There were a few nice moves - the one in the first half TheGreenMonster refers to above was lovely, and if Foran had been able to keep his first time shot down then it could have been one of the goals of the season - but really, we didn't present any threat. With their greater quality, and perhaps with a bit of renewed determination after Tuesday night, I expected Celtic to win fairly comfortably, but it was frustrating to see a performance that fell so short of what we're capable of producing. Had Doran been fit, then we might have presented a little more threat; I would like to have seen Watkins on earlier as he is direct and can force defenders onto the back foot; and Ryan Christie showed enough innovation when he came on to suggest that he should probably be given more game time; but overall, it was probably a game we were always going to lose, and if it has a motivating rather than a dispiriting effect on the players, then there's probably no harm done.
  23. Cellic wouldn't sell me an away ticket so had to keep stum and sit in the home end with half of Ireland. Will take 5_0 as it could/should have been 8 or 9 At one stage Celtic broke away and stokes and Griffith's must have played 4 or 5 one twos in our box before Griffith's shot over. Brill had a couple of good saves before letting a 30 harder from commons right foot under his body. Ritchie had a chance at 2_0 after good work from shinnie but blasted over from 10 yards and in second half was not quick enough with his feet to score from 3yards and let the defender get a tackle in. We played a couple of bits of nice stuff but no end product. Billy and for an tried their best but the Celtic back four were too fast, too strong, too good.especially ambrose and dick van dyke. Thought hughes got his tactics very wrong today more like boo boo than yogi. Draper gave the bal away with poor passing and was rightly hooked. Meekings needs to work on his distribution which was poor also, but lucky he has pace. Shinnie was very good going forward but got a roasting from Forrest later on in the game. Ross is a nice footballer but can't go past anyone is swatted away too easily. Warren was solid Vincent too slow and tansey was playing high balls to billy against van dyke doh Hope Hughes does not come out with the injured beast, bad day at the office because it wasn't. Celtic too good I am afraid. And to think Aberdeen beat them. Ah well roll on 16 march
  24. Leave it to the Scots--the steam engine, the telephone across the Atlantic, Penicillin and many other inventions. Have faith and go for it I say. This is an opportunity that is worth the risk.... Is there anyone left in Scotland these days who actually believes that David Cameron, who suddenly remembers that he has Scottish blood in his veins and cares s-o-o-o-o-o much about Scotland, will invoke the feel-good factor, viz: ''stay with us dearies, and you will be alright 'cos I'll look after you", cares a fig about us Northerners? He's more concerned about greed and power and money, not the Scots. This is your .last chance to get rid of the likes of him and his ilk. Blow it now and you deserve what you get. It's all Laurence's fault anyway --he started this thread in the first place, clearly not realising the hornet's next that he was stirring up. One thing's for sure, when the oil finally runs out, an independent Scotland will have reaped the benefit and, if thrift and smart thoughts have anything to do with setting assets aside for the future, then you all will be "alright Jack"--The alternative of staying with the U K Government seems banal to me since you will be no further forward and will remain slaves to the self-serving bureaucrats of Westminster whose only interest in Scotland is the taxes they can squeeze from you and the relaxing vacations they can enjoy here.
  25. Again bad defending but luckily brill saved forests shot
  26. Double change marley watkins and danny devine on for gary warren and ross draper
  27. so another chance for celtic to extend their lead but Griffiths over, commons coming on for stokes
  28. None of them are a patch on this....
