Eric passed away peacefully today. He was an ardent supporter of ICT since the merger having no particular affiliation to either former team. Eric was a member of the steering group set up to help form the ICT Supporters Trust and was elected to the first Trust Board as Secretary, a role he carried out for many years. He was kind, generous and funny. Along with ICT Eric gave time to other organisations including the Rotary Club. Eric was a season ticket holder and attended all games at home and many away. He usually missed one when he and his pals spent a weekend away at the opening of the salmon fishing season. You could hear his shouts of encouragement to the team from the stand - never too critical - and using the name I'm sure he would have chosen for the team - Inverness! Even though his health was not great over the last few years he attended games when he was able and when he wasn't he listened to commentary on the radio. A wee win tomorrow would be lovely for you Eric! My thoughts with his wife Margaret and their family. And big hugs Part Timer. Sleep tight Eric.
  2. On the other hand DD, we could have been out of site in the second half and County were lucky to get a point. It's not the first game this season that we have had to turn around a dismal first half performance. It depends if your glass is half full or half empty. Mark Brown was probably MotM, overturning Brills half time lead. Odd game to be honest, I don't think I have ever seen such a stark contrast between two halves.

My thoughts to Part Timer - will have a dram of rememberance when we next meet. And thanks to Maimie who is our local births, deaths and Marriages spotter.

I'm not a happy clapper. When did I suggest we should've applauded them off? After that first half showing, I certainly wasn't going to be applauding them off. At the risk of sounding like Yogi, we've got a good, honest group of professionals and they themselves know that first half showing wasn't good enough. Do you honestly think they need a chorus of boos to tell them that? Booing them off the park can't do their confidence any good and I personally can't see what can be gained from it?

Looks like "the rumour" about C*unty fans boycotting the match rather than give ICT money was true. What a pathetic small minded group of people (and I cleaned that up) they are. I understand boycotts of the Old Firm because of vile fans and obstructed view reasons but boycotting local rivals so not to give them money is truly pathetic. Not even Dundee fans are this shallow. Hope they get relegated and boycott games at Elgin in the next couple of years.
  6. We were very lucky to get a point today. County should have been out of sight at half time. Nobody seemed to pick up Quinn on the left and he alone had 3 glorious chances to score but fluffed the lot. Our goal then stemmed from County copying us and playing tippy tappy stuff in their own half. They got punnished and then it was game on. A much more direct approach gave us the level of superiority County had in the first half and it was only a combination of fine keeping from Brown and other players getting blocks in that kept the scores level. County are not a good side. Had we played in the first half the way we played in the second, we might have taken them apart. Hopefully the club will use the international break to analyse the reasons why the team were booed off the pitch at half time and do something about it.
  7. First half utter sh*te Second half alot better. If it wasn't for brown in nets we could have have won by 3 or 4
  8. A real Jekyll and Hyde performance from us today. We were non existent in the first half and could have easily been down by 2 or 3 goals if it wasn't for Dean Brill who saved our skins at times. I really didn't understand the slow start and passing at the back against the team that's bottom of the league. Credit to County they piled the pressure early on and got the rewards of a goal. I haven't seen a worst start at home since Dundee United at home in the Scottish cup last season. Second half was a world of a difference, I hope Hughes told them to push up and go for that equaliser and we got it from a fantasically well operated goal from Marley Watkins. The urgency and more attacking minded football in the second half was a joy to watch and realistically we should have won the game and could have if Warren got his shot away. Nevermind, two points dropped but a point gained. Now we have a chance to regroup and fine tune this 'passing philosophy' and have another go at St Mirren which won't be an easy game.
  9. The ref and linesman were really poor today and I just about had a panic attack everytime brill got a pass back... Chuffed at the celtic - hamilton score though!
  10. To be fair Brown made one wonder save and two other above average saves and the Tinks were blocking shots as if they were human hay bales being shunted off a feckin Combine Harvester controlled by Farmer Jim Muckinbyre and Ghillie Dodds.

She's very nice and speaks almost impeccable English. I worked a few night-shifts with her at Raigmore a few years ago. Not claiming to know her but got quite a surprise when I saw that photo. Good for her. Can't remember her name - it was something like Ita or Iva.
  12. ....Meekings long throws were brilliant and have to be used more often.

There's a medium between booing and clapping. No harm in mentioning the pish away support for a change, we go on about our pish home support an a weekly basis.

I doubt many clapped them off at half time. Deserved displeasure for a rubbish performance in my opinion. Cheer them off and we would have got more of the same. No point going on about the away support when the home support was around 3000. It's the state of the game I'm afraid.
  15. Stirling University 1-4 Albion Rovers That result completes a thoroughly disappointing series of games for the non-league clubs, this weekend! Could it just be that the bottom tier sides have 'upped their game' as a result of the new Pyramid system, now in place? Including Brora's loss to East Fife in the Challenge Cup, The top HL and LL sides have lost 8 and drawn 1 of the 9 games against the teams from the SPFL's lowest division, this season. A few years ago we'd have expected a few apparent 'shocks'. Coincidence? Maybe not. Only 2 Highland League clubs (unless Forres win their replay) are in round 3 - the lowest ever, in the current format. The days of the Highland League being superior to their non-league Southern counter-parts seem gone. And the top central-belt juniors continue to impress. Admittedly, Brora are better than the rest of the teams in the Highland League, but any thoughts of them 'routinely' beating the Lowland league champions, then the bottom club from League Two to secure SPFL status, should be delayed. Although competitive, it may be that the 'quality' of the Highland League has slightly diminished in recent years, and the chickens are now coming home to roost. But that's the beauty of the Pyramid - complacency has to go - clubs need to continuously strive to improve or they'll not progress. The days of happily standing still for 20 years in the bottom league, like say Montrose, are over!

It's not just the C*unty games that are too many it's the whole set up of the Scottish game and as I said on an earlier post the clubs and the SPFL have to make changes and increase division sizes. We played Divedee Utd 6 times last season and C*unty 6 times the season before. Wake up and smell the coffee. The fans are bored and no matter how well we or any other team are doing people have voted with their feet.

This the 11th (?) Highland Derby in around two years. I completely disagree with an earlier comment about the novelty factor not being an issue. I think it's one of the major reasons that the crowds have fallen away so dramatically. Eleven games in two years against your biggest rivals is beyond saturation point for a lot of fans who may have an interest in attending these matches - they've become too common for most to be able to sustain their interest in them.

After 45 minutes??! If we were playing like that week after week then fair enough, but we're 3rd in the table and playing a brand of football that fans have been wanting to see for years. For a club like ours that is fantastic. Booing the players, many of whom could've jumped ship but have instead stayed loyal to us, after an abject 45 mins is pathetic. If that's the mentality these people have then maybe they'd be better suited supporting one of the OF.

Thank you both for your kind words. And to everyone else who has passed on their condolences. I'm sure my father was looking down on us this afternoon - at least for the second half. Funeral details will be published in Tuesday's Courier, All the very best, Graham

The impression I got was the North Stand was slightly fuller than usual, while the Main Stand was just as usual. The away support was absolutely shocking though, that was an embarrassment to their team.
  22. Oh to be a football fan - depths of despair at half time and then devastated not to have won the game in the end. Agree with earlier comments: 2nd half was more Butcher than Yogi and the 4-4-2 switch worked really well: Worth using again. Billy can't buy a goal at the moment - he got more chances in 45 min with a strike partner than in the previous 8 games. Please let's not have another 45 min like the first half again - shocking!

3,700 in a derby game. Shocking!
  24. Yes over the piece a draw fair but I have never seen Caley so bad as they were in the first half second to every ball could not pass the ball and too much square and back passes which nearl cost us dearly and 4-0 would have been a fair result at Half Time but what a difference in the second half and talk about players coming back to haunt you (normally a striker/ midfielder) but in this case it was oor Broon who had some stunning saves to keep us out - so at the end of the day a draw was fair
  25. First half was our poorest home performance for years. Could've been 5-0 down against the worst team in the league. The tippy tappy stuff in our own half was getting punished again and again, and producing nothing at the other end. In the second half we reverted back to classic Terry Butcher era tactics. Much less intricate, much more direct. County found themselves penned back and clinging on. Some lovely stuff from Christie, Draper and Williams in the final third. Deano and Mark Brown the best 2 players on the pitch. Says it all really. Great game, disappointed not to convert our second half dominance into a win but a draw was probably a fair result.
  26. We are third on the league despite some poor performances, so we have to be content. What I am less sure about is Billy McKay. Everyone says he is lacking service. If so how can Watkins, Tansey, Doran (not strikers) manage to score, and he has only managed 1 this season. I think a period on the bench might focus his mind. I would have taken the draw at half time. In the end a fair result
  27. Despite being lucky that the game was so close at half time, we really had enough chances to win 3 games in the 2nd half. How many? Very frustrating for 2 reasons- the shocking first half performance and the fact we didn't take any of the opportunities in the second.
  28. We may need a penalty to beat Broon today !!
  29. Looks like a 4-2-3-1 Poor passes by Warren and then Draper - feckin back towards keeper as usual. Kiss missed a sitter but Brill did well - when are we ever going to learn. Hoof in those circumstances?
  30. Fun fact, last time County finished above us Pat Nevin and Craig Levein were still playing for Scotland.
  31. That is the beauty of the Rail Network !! Only a 10 mile return journey by car BUT if you go by Rail it could take up to an hour as you have to go past Brig and on to Preston and back.

The car park does not help! Go in there and it can take an hour or more to get out. Your feet get soaked in the large puddles and some of the attendants are less than helpful. Other than that there no real reason for such low crowds. - The football is good and the pies are edible.
