  1. Celtic away with Meekings scoring a dubious winner off his shoulder.

  2. I would hope that J H would stay in a capacity which would guide Foran whilst he learns the trade. J H is one of the most under-rated managers in the spfl , He is shrewd, honest and has given the league a freshness in tactics which most Clubs are now trying to emulate. When he retires from management I would like to see him go on to higher things in the SFA He is not backward at coming forward ,speaks his mind and knows how football should be run.

  3. Can't argue with Yogi's record with us. 3rd in the league and Scottish Cup champions. I'm eating humble pie.

  4. I reckon Newport is probably his last chance saloon. If he bombs there I can't see him being offered a job at that level again. You can't even call his managerial record 'chequered' anymore. The best you could say is 'one hit wonder'. Why is it that so many apparently dismal managers seem to excel in Inverness? Pele, Robbo, Brewster #1, Butcher, and you could even include Yogi given how low his stock had fallen before he was appointed. It's baffling. Anyways, would love to see our former 'leader' back in Scottish football as a media personality. Can see him rustling plenty of jimmies and shaking things up in contrast to the obsequious wet blankets who currently occupy the mic. Come home Terry!

  5. Well, there is little fear of anyone contradicting your thoughts, Bughtmaster. But what's all this talk about a new Manager anyway.? Why would John H .leave at this juncture? Another season like the last one and he would be in a position to have a good increase in remuneration and /or cement his relationship at the club for a more permanent future perhaps. Correct? Richie is undoubtedly an excellent player with drive, flair and a high work rate. As such, he demonstrates unimpeachable professionalism and is an outstanding example of dedication and skill to the younger up-and-coming younger professionals at the club. But what actual, consistent managerial experience does he have that could enable him to take over what is no a winning , forward-looking club and continue the outstanding work of J Hughes and the current Board ? I can only leave that to those who know the answer to that question to explain further? Working with, and under the guidance of, someone like John Hughes would be an excellent starting point but acting alone in the face of the trials and tribulations of the on-the-job challenges is another thing. The way the new manager reacts and handles these things is the forerunner and determinant of his or her future progress and success. Which means, in turn, that the Board has to first decide whether or not to go for merely enthusiasm and hope or past managerial experience which has shown success to date. In my view, based on my past life's work ventures there is no substitute for experience. An appointment as assistant to Mr John Hughes as a first step would be a realistic and prudent move if his playing days are well nigh over (by virtue of injury, etc.). In fact I really can't see any other course for Richie in terms of management as being available to Richie at this point. It would be wonderful if he could stay at the club, though, IMHO. Both for him and the club.

  12. And your point is? Are you saying "Rabid ravings" is so much more offensive than "paranoid outpourings"? You choose to believe one "truth" and I choose another. Neither of us have a monopoly on that. But my problem with your posts Charles, is that they drip with sneering condescension. You like to portray "cybernats" as divisive. You sure as hell aren't bringing anyone to your point of view by making reasoned arguments. Constant "jokes" about Nuremberg rallies and "mein Banff" are just puerile and I would've thought below you. Then again.......

  15. The first half was the best we've played since the corresponding fixture at the end of last season. Terrific stuff. As others have said, we should've gone in at least 4 goals in front. As usual, Aberdeen were jammy as feck against us and the scoreline flattered them. Their goal came from virtually their first effort on goal, a scrappy corner (cheaply given away by Devine) which was bundled in as Fon Williams was fouled. From that point on Aberdeen's whole gameplan seemed to consist of lumping high balls into our box. Surprisingly, and deservedly, we managed to hold firm. Christie's transfer value has gone up a few hundred thousand on todays performance alone! An assist and a goal fit to grace El Classico. Dave the Rave was outstanding at the back, keeping Hayes quiet and also providing decent support on the right flank in attack. He's having his best season for us IMO. Hopefully a few more years yet before he leaves us for the music business. Miles Story also impressed. He has the running power of Marly Watkins and the finishing touch of Billy McKay. Quality signing. When he tired I would have preferred we gave Sutherland a runout. Mutombo doesn't have the pace to race in behind from the halfway line. Playing him as a lone striker on the last man didn't work. Every time we got the ball forward it kept coming back. Taylor and Consodine were tired, isolated and pushed up to the halfway line. Sutherland would have caused those lumbering carthorses all kinds of problems with any ball played over the top, just like he did late on against Saint Johnstone. A minor gripe in an otherwise excellent performance. Keep up the good work lads!

  16. The form the Dons have had of late and the failure to take any points off them before,I felt 1 point would have been a good result. Great game to watch, great team performance and our players also won their personal battles too. Considering they have some of our players who we couldn't afford to keep, we made them along with the rest of their team look mediocre. Referee was pretty inconsistent, bias may be a better word and even upset the Dons fans later on in the match as he tried to balance things out. All in all a good day.

  18. Can't see Hughes going there - poisoned chalice. It's really messy behind the scenes at United. That doesn't mean we shouldn't offer Hughes a contract - he deserves it.

  19. C M in B --- My new house, supposedly finished over two years ago, took a year to fix the 80 defects I found after the alleged completion. Most of the builders here in the West are of East Indian origin. The price will not go up- but you must check everything with a fine-tooth comb. Barely a single door in the house was hung right and locks were put in backwards or falling out; toilet roll holders falling off and many more faults. One lock was cemented in a huge hole in the garage side-door with putty and the repair was laughable and I had to insist on a new door. The Fan in the canopy above one of the kitchen stoves was the wrong size so that the draft blew downward instead of up. This builder alleged he could not find a replacement fan in the entire city but I found it for him in one day--he had put a fan with a 6 inch outlet pipe into a 5 inch vent pipe when the building code stated the latter should be 6 inches. I also warned him that the thin plastic toilet seat was not fitting properly on the outer toilet rims in the master bedroom bathroom and it (and another one) would soon break if not replaced. He did nothing and sure enough one broke whilst I was reading the local paper and I got stuck in the seat like a clam in his shell. He claimed his supplier did not have the heavy one I demanded and so I went out right away and found two in our township and sent the bill to him. I am still waiting for his refund of the cost of the Polysporin anti-septic ointment for the broken plastic that nipped my erse..... O.K. - I am just waiting for IHE to find something germane to the issue... Chentlemen of the Chury, this is not called the Wild West for nuffink. No sirree!

  20. We absolutely destroyed them in the first half. It should have been at least 4-1 at half time and could easily have been more. And that would not have flattered us in the slightest. We were hanging on a bit at the end but it would have been a joke if we hadn't won I though Aberdeen looked pretty poor to be honest. The goal they got was the result of their 32 blocking off Fon Williams and the referee doing nothing. I thought Beaton was useless in the LC semi against Hearts, and he hasn't improved. The Aberdeen players were throwing themselves about at the end, which was pretty embarrassing. Thought Christie was unlucky, but would like to see it again to be sure. Storey looks a real find - if the ref had actually done anything to stop the constant holding by Taylor then he may have caused even more damage. If we play like that week in week out then I think we will be fine. The Scottish media may have to rethink the coronation of the champions elect, however.

  21. It's pretty a standard red top story but it is a bit galling to read it at face value and assume that he has only been playing at this level since he went to Aberdeen. Apart from maybe a wee dip in form around the start of this year Shinnie has been a consistently outstanding performer for about two seasons now. He is playing no better at Aberdeen than he was with us. He has deserved a call up for a long time now and whilst I am disappointed he never got that chance with us it's great to see that he is finally getting the recognition he deserves.

  25. Polworth looked totally lost yesterday, I just don't think he's good enough for this level. If we had our full compliment of midfielders fit he wouldn't be on the bench i'm afraid. But a great team performance yesterday, well chuffed wi that result!!!!!

  26. Well Newport County got their first win under Butcher against Carlisle. I thought he would have been sacked by now. I suppose winning at Carlisle is ironic because that's nearly in Scotland. In the 11th century Carlisle was to the North of the border. Seriously though I think he will be out by Christmas. No way will Newport risk going back into the non league set up. Poor Terry what an arse he made of his life.

Administration pending, unless... How can we go from SupercaleygoballisticCelticareatrocious in the year 2000, to Scottish Cup Winners in 2015, playing in Europe and just 9 years after lifting the Cup; Administration. Mismanagement and our demise was hastened by the appointment of Scot Gardiner. Ever since then, ludicrous decision making has seen our stock plummet whilst 'shady' dealings were investigated. The failed Concert Company, the Battery Storage, the Statkraft contract have all ended badly leaving the club facing insolvency.

That's another fine mess you've got us into.

      Chairman Ross Morrison resigns

Nothing official from the club as we speak, but the Inverness Courier are running with a story that Ross Morrison has resigned at 18:00 tonight 3rd June.  More to come as this story develops, but most fans are looking for more heads to roll.

Speaking exclusively to The Inverness Courier, Mr Morrison said he is leaving now because of the aftermath of the Fife move. “I believe it [the move to Fife] is the best way forward and I have to stick with my beliefs,” Mr Morrison said. “This is the reason I'm stepping down now.”

Reflecting on his time with the Caley Thistle, Mr Morrison said: “My six-year tenure with the club has had some great and some not so great times but through everything I was immensely proud to be the chairman of the club and clubs I’ve supported for 50 years - I was a Jaggie by the way.

“I would ask the fans to rally round the club at this time and show their support by not only purchasing their season tickets but also getting involved directly with the club to see how they can help.

“Hearing fans saying they would prefer administration to training the first team in Kelty sent a shiver down my spine. Administration is a desperate thing to happen to a club and must, at all cost, not happen to ICTFC.”
