  1. Thought Tremarco was our Man of the Match again. I always felt a lot of fans were quite harsh about him on the whole but he's improved dramatically these last few weeks. Looks far far more solid in both defence and attack and seems to have worked out the rash tackles from his game. Our stand-out defender this season IMO.
  2. Well it was lovely seeing Inverness on the tele in the sunshine! Overall we were the better side..quite how the Killie went in at HT 1-0 to the good is beyond me, although they looked sharp straight after the break. The penalty/sending off sealed the points for us really...thought Storey was excellent as were Vigurs/Polworth. And defensively largely solid. Enjoyable game to watch And CMIB if you think you've got a smile on, watching the snooker, imagine my smile when my other team won their FA Cup semi-final. So for the third year running I am off to a Cup Final, just hope Palace can match Caley's result from last year!

Reading between the lines, I see it as Hughes feeling that Raven is a good earner, in a position where he feels that is adequately covered (Horner and Meekings plus others at a push) and Raven is out of contract therefore it's an opportunity to free up a good wage. I'm not saying that I agree with this, but I think that's the rationale. And objectively speaking I understand this theory- We have been lacking up front and sacrificing wages further back (where a young defender needing a deal could be easier to find than a striker) seems logical. In saying that Dave is not only one of our most experienced players, and Mr reliable, he's also one of our better players. When you have the Rave at right back it's a position you don't have to worry about. He's got it covered. And whilst ok we need to free up wages, I get that... But why do we then keep signing midfielders that hardly play/have an impact? Ryan Williams, Liam Hughes, Nate Wedderburn. Could easily punt 2 of any one of them. Plus we're freeing up wages from Williams and Vincent. Lopez has moved on. We're already committed to moving 2 on. Could move on at least 1 of those midfielders there (whilst retaining Polworth, Vigurs, Tansey, Draper etc) Are we going to keep Fisher? Can we keep Storey, What about Mbuyi-Mutombo? Are we really that desperate for wages for a striker we HAVE to sacrifice Raven?
  4. 3-1. That was an absolutely outstanding goal, must have been 20-odd passes in the build up. JH has been getting pelters recently and rightly so in most cases but that goal epitomises what how he wants us to play.

John Hughes was extremely lucky to get the job as our manager in the first place. No other team in our position would of gone near him. In my view he is now degrading the club and our ambitions by his negative comments. This was our season to progress and establish ourselves as a Premier League club but this has not happenend. Hughes continually talks us down and his negativity must surely detract players from wanting to join us. When you have a solid, consistent and very good player like David Raven desperate to sign a new contract and you decide not to, in my view it is a disgrace. We are Inverness Caledonian Thistle, we know we are not world beaters and are not going to win cups every season but we want to see players with heart and passion who want to wear our shirt and sweat blood and tears for us and David Raven is this kind of player. I for one feel Hughes is forgetting about the essence of our club and taking us down a road many of us will not want to follow.
  6. That could have easily finished 5 all! When we had our customary spell of pressure (about 4 corners in a row) without taking advantage, and then lost a sucker punch of a goal, I thought that it was going to be the same old story. The difference for me is when Draper pushes forward - the last 4 games I've been to he has scored against county, won the penalty vs Motherwell, set up Storey against Utd and won the penalty and scored a goal today. The red card was a game changer - nice to see us benefit from some crazy defending - and the decision to pull Higginbotham was a nice double bonus. Good to see us go for the kill in those circumstances. Killie looked terrible, when they went behind you could see their shoulders slump, but we still managed to let them create a couple of chances, and they should have scored at least once. For me Draper was MoM - him taking a more attacking role changed the game. Honourable mentions for Tremarco, and Fon Williams had a couple of good saves. And what was that stand side linesman about? All in all, three points that just about ensure top flight football next season, but as others have said, let's push on and finish 7th. Starting with a win at Partick next week - so that sneckboy can complete his set of home and away wins in the top flight!

Doubt the board have much to do with the signings they only agree to the finance and since we only have 7 signed players would doubt the money is the issue. Think this is yogi' s issues p*****g off players with his comments in the press who then do not have a desire to play for him ( Raven excepted) .

How the above could be classed as a quality post is beyond me. While I don't know the severity of Doran's injury, it does not look like it is career threatening and we are a much better team when he plays. If he is fit to play, we should sign him up. Why should we want to punt him and replace him with someone else who may not do the business. Again, why sell tansy unless he doesn't want to be here. He is one of our best and most consistent performers and can open up defences with his passing. Agree that Raven has justified a new contract but from some posts on here you would think he is a world beater. He is a good right back but no more than that. I don't like the way he has been treated but is this all down to Hughes. 6 contracts are with the board as indicated in the press and if so, could it not be the board are holding things up?. Were they waiting to see if we would be safe from relegation first before making decisions. Yogi is not perfect but the board are culpable on this matter as well.
  9. Saw Aaron Doran in the Main stand today. I must say he looked in decent shape.

It's nice to see everyone coming together to stand up for one of our most universally liked players. He's never let us down and represents our club well on and off the pitch. A warm, welcoming, happy, familial workplace environment makes a huge difference to any professional, and has been a hallmark of our success over the years. It's almost part of our clubs identity. If managment start treating our players like garbage, as in this case, all of that will unravel. Brewsters aloofness and callous man managment was his undoing. Sadly Yogi looks like following in his footsteps.
  11. It's a funny old game. Like HawkeyeThe Gnu, after that sucker goal at the end of the first half following a period of good pressure from us, I thought it was not to be our day. But we were gifted a goal and a one man advantage which soon led to 2 more goals and a comfortable win at the end. We are now all but mathematically safe and can breathe a sigh of relief. Phew. I'm sure the manager will have enjoyed the third goal. It was a John Hughes style of goal. Patient possession, tease out an opening and slot the ball past the keeper. A very nice goal but made possible because Draper's rather less pretty goal had knocked the stuffing out of Kilmarnock and they gave us plenty of space to knock the ball about in. There is a time and place for that style of play - and that was it. But after that, they regrouped and with Vigurs having been taken off they managed to find a bit more space in midfield and were, perhaps, a little bit unlucky not to get back into the match. I was pleased that we played with a much more attack minded approach from the start. The pressure that created should have had us in front by half time and should convince the manager to persevere with this. The more positive approach was exemplified by Meekings getting forward much more than usual but, unfortunately with less effect than we have seen with Raven. Surely today's game should also have made it clear to Yogi that Raven is a better RB than Meekings and Meekings is a better CB than Devine. I have no ill will at Devine, he's a perfectly fine player and I would love to see him extend his contract - but as cover for a CB pairing of Warren and Meekings. Draper needs to be pushed forward more. He has got surprisingly nimble feet for a big man. He also looks very ungainly and when he surges forward defenders simply don't know how to cope with him. It's not that often he gets into the box but it is telling just how often he gets results when he does. Vigurs did some great work in midfield today but Tremarco was MOTM for me. Renegade is spot on in what he said above.
  12. Just not today I believe
  13. Funny how other people around you in the stand can negatively affect your impression of players! And annoying actually....when I buy my season ticket next season I'll be changing my seat!! Didn't think Vigurs had a good game, but clearly someone behind me hates him! The north stand managers are really starting to get on my tits! Can the youth team please make an appearance again in order to drown them out?! Typical ICT game - nervous! But, cracking result. Great possession throughout; need to sort out the stray passes though, and the final ball, inject some pace, be a bit more direct....maybe play like they did against county, that would do it! just gutted I dinna have the sky sports to re-watch the game, and no YouTube highlights either! Spiffle and their soul selling....
  14. Good performance following the penalty and red card. We seem to be good at taking advantage when the opposition are down to 10 men (last years Scottish cup semi springs to mind). We defended fairly well for most of the game. Devine is a bit of a bombscare at times, he seems like he has the right tools to be a good centre back but positionally he is all over the place at times and he's been error prone this season. Tremarco is becoming one of our most consistent performers and JH made the right call in giving him a chance to prove his worth this season. Still baffled as to why Storey isn't play through the middle. I know he started upfront today but he was often drifting out to the wings and is generally not as effective there. He's good at finding gaps between defenders and he's dangerous when playing on the shoulder of the last defender. I heard the commentator say his contract is up at Swindon at the end of the season so hopefully we'll make him an offer, but I'd imagine we would have done so by now if that was our plans.
  15. That should give the Arabs a boost. Looks like a 3 horse race at the bottom. So nice to be able to sit back and watch. BUT Lady Luck was really with us today and Gawd knows what would have happened if the pen incident did not happen. Still that is all part of the game and we did take full advantage for once. There is only one Ballatoni. And the. Game ends fittingly with a corner and ICT attacking and Storey almost gets the fourth as the final whistle blows. PHEW
  16. That was simply dire. Meekings is not a full back. Devine has lost his confidence. Tansey may look pretty and fire some lovely long but ineffective balls. He is practically in the back four. If the idea is to block the feed to Sumo that is laughable. There is a huge gap between the defence and the poor two sods up front who are there to chase scraps. That nullifies our midfield who are bypassed. Hook Devine and move Meekings back in the middle with Warren, put Horner or Raven in at right back. Swap Draper and Tansey and play the ball through the channels to Tansey or Vigurs. Put Polworth wider right or take on Mutumbo. Why play two strikers wide and none through the middle ? Play a higher defence because the pace of Sumo is not particularly worrying. A Tansey Red is all that I can prophecy!! Pass marks however to Tremarco. .
  17. Better team but no quality up top. Same old story.
  18. 1-0 to Higginbotham. Ridiculous defending by Tansey who should not have been so deep and where was Josh Meekings - in his usual position in the middle. That was coming a mile off.

OK - I'm going to stir the pot here. Yogi implies that his priorities are (1) Doran (2) extended contract for Tansey - if these fall through, he might entertain something for Raven... If he's lucky. Here's what I'd suggest as an alternative (controversial!): 1. If there's an offer on the table for Tansey, sell him and put the alleged £200k in the kitty. 2. Sign Raven on an enhanced salary because he's worth it. 3. Forget about Doran - he's allegedly the Highest earner at the club and we have no idea what he'll be like after a terrible injury. 4. Use the earnings from Tansey and savings from Doran to bring in a decent front line and attacking midfield. Note: I really like Tansey and Doran, so this is not a reflection of their quality, BUT, if we are going to lose players, I'd prefer them to go for a fee (Tansey) or because there's an injury doubt (Doran) than on a free (Raven).

That was effin awful viewing. He does not seem to know we are playing Sunday not Saturday as he suggested more than once. Spinning plates is truly awful patter even in the world of sales (which I'm in) All faith ( for me )is lost in the guy now which is a shame because after last season the potential was there however, his dialogue is truly awful and like it or not it must transfer directly to the dressing room and player morale. Finally I'm willing to guess that this top quality up top he is sacrificing our best players for will in fact going by his previous signings be utter shi...dross

Hughes is quoted in the P & J as saying that Doran is his main priority once he has sorted out a new deal for Tansey. I've no idea what kind of wage Raven might be on but I can't imagine it would be one of the highest at the club. I'm pretty flummoxed by this bizarre episode. If money is tight and we can only afford to retain a certain number of defenders whilst strengthening the forward line (fair enough on the surface actually) surely you keep your best defenders which to pretty much everyone on here would be Tremarco, Warren, Meekings and Raven but Hughes seems to prefer playing Devine at CB and Meekings at RB thus squeezing out Raven. Very odd. Of course there is the real possibility that the whole wages thing is just a cover story for the fact that Hughes just doesn't like the guy. As others have said there are slight similarities to Tokely and Munro leaving but I would say that they were a bit more past it than Raven but for the most part Butcher was better at sourcing replacements. With Hughes I just don't trust his ability to source out adequate replacements for when we lost players. As Renegade (I think) mentioned, given the difficulty we have in getting players to come up here we find ourselves with a dependable, competent right back, who wants to stay, is part of our best defensive line up and is unlikely to command a high wage yet we are looking likely to release him. Mind boggling.

The Club is bigger than anything and anyone. Has anyone tarnished the name of the club by their recent actions ? Just as I was falling into the depths of despair salvation has come. We still have Tremarco's left arm. Oh No - think again ? Was that the arm that dragged somebody back in the cup final ?

True fans will always have a relationship with the club but I agree it could be a turning point or tipping point for the manager.

This decision has nothing to do with finances. Raven seems to be a good honest professional who has done an outstanding job for us and would continue to do so. There is a definite link between our average performance this season and Raven's absence. This decision is Hughes doing and could be a turning point in the fans relationship not only with him but the Club.

I don't think it's a pre-planned move, considering Raven himself was pleading for a contract earlier in the season. It will be JH's fault if one of our rivals snaps him up and the fans will be well aware of that. To me, his comments don't make much sense. If we don't give Raven a new deal, and we only look to sign attacking players for next season, that leaves absolutely no cover at the back. We would literally have 5 defenders. Meekings isn't a natural right back and his partnership with Warren was pivotal to our success last year, so what's the rationale in breaking up that partnership. Like others, I always try to be supportive of Yogi as if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have had such success last season, but his decision making and comments to the media over the last season has made that more and more difficult. It's probably not only the fans that will be fuming at this decision, but the players too. He better hope he has a positive start to next season, or the fans will be calling for his head in no time.

  33. This is yet another shambles from the club. Yogi said the day before or day after hearts game that Monday passed was the deadline for players to re-sign and now it's Friday...nothing's happened! Polworths deal was supposed to be competed last week and it hasn't. It's seems the club has been bullied into waiting for players as they've become desperate for them to resign. Then of course there is the story that the club are going to release David Raven...one of if not the best right back we've had to date and it's not like he's passed it. And he's one that wanted to sign, seems that the club officials have totally lost the plot this time.
  34. 7 players signed up for next season including Esson & Foran what is going on. How can they expect to market Season tickets on the back of that. Something is seriously wrong at the club when you have only 5 first team regulars guaranteed to turn up for pre-season training which is probably less than 8 weeks away.

It also does seem a very late stage in the endgame for this season NOT to have already discussed, at least a couple of months ago, and decided upon which players the club wants to let go or re-sign. Why leave it until virtually the very last minute? Thus leaving the impression, surely, that indecision reigns. Perhaps there is not really very substantive animosity between the Manager and Dave Raven after all, merely the Manager's wavering thoughts on what money to spend and who to retain etc., contributing to the dissatisfaction of some players as to what exactly their future is now at the club. Silence on such issues may be golden but uncertainty is more destructive than the possession of knowledge as far as players are concerned. Not to mention trust. But if David has been openly critical of the Manager's tactics in the dressing room in front of him then JH may well feel that this cannot be tolerated and that any such comments should be made to him in private face-to-face. If he is right, then the player has made his own bed to lie on and cannot complain too loudly if he attracts negativity to himself from the Manager as a result. Truth is that we , on the outside, don't know all the facts and the subtleties of the various interactions within the dressing room. But it looks like a lack of communication, possibly including a lack of upfront honesty perhaps on both sides of the coin, could be eating away at the inner fabric of the club at the dressing room level which involves most, if not all, of the real movers and shakers at the club--i.e. both the players and the Manager. For those who call for the head of the manager as the solution to all problems, will a change of boss make any difference now? Think about it. If the issue is not allowed to continue to fester then no. Somebody with a strong character and a cool head needs to step in as a mediator. And this process should include putting all the cards, including the financial ones, on the table - which may backfire but at least everybody involved should know where they stand thereafter. In any business the employees want to know what management is thinking about the preservation of the business, the reasons for plans and what effect all this thinking will have on their future. Uncertainty about the future of their employer and fear for their livelihoods contributes little to the sense of stability and confidence in the minds of players and staff ; not to mention their capacity to commit 100% to their role in the club and putting in their very best efforts out FOR that club. IMHO.
