That sort of macho, intimidatory style of management did seem to work at one time, but even Ferguson acknowledges that it has had its day - and that can only be a good thing. The Calderwood case is different though - it's a matter of public record that he mocked, humiliated and then ostracised Ryan O'Leary when the player opened up to him about suffering from depression. That's an absolute abuse of his duty of care to his player. I would be very, very unhappy with him becoming our manager.
  2. I am buying a season ticket. 1. The club is my club and i did support another team dougal but i wasnt born 27yrs ago and it was my fathers home team. 2. The staff looked after my very sick father brilliantly for 7 years in hospitality and in general around the stadium. 3. For the steward who let a 78 year old with dementia be the first person to invade the pitch when celebrating at home and getting overexcited when we achieved promotion again. 4. For all these memories and feeling of inclusion going to the games. 6. And to support the players that stayed. It is a personal choice. I know the match day experience can be made much better and thats domething we can all contribute too with our enthusiasm, by talking to everyone around us and being ridiculously optimistic. We can talk the club down or build it up but you cannot decide to support the club and cripple the institutions that allow it to exist. Lets be positive and change the way we see the world. Richie Foran was our best manager last season . Accept it and grow or bleed about it and let the club die.
  3. STV website are saying Nick Ross is a free agent (contract expired at Dundee). I'd be happy to see him back at the TCS, if a premiership club don't sign him.

I'm not sure I could attend matches if the vile Jimmy Calderwood became manager.

A bully and an absolute dinosaur who's techniques and attitudes are years out of date. Anyway, we couldn't afford to keep him in sun bed sessions. No thanks. We need to look forward not backwards and Calderwood would be a huge leap backwards and into the footballing past.

Anyone in the vicinity of the Heathmount might want to stick yer head in the door and see a few ICT heroes from out 1 div title winning team, Had a chat/beer with Charlie C, Barry Wilson, Bobby Mann, Stuart Caff, Liam Keogh, Richie Hart, Steve Hislop, Paul Richie, Davie Bingham, and they are all looking in good shape apart from Bobby ( which is no surprise eh)

I think we'd be foolish not to at least offer a contract to Nick Ross. I remember when we were relegated last time, Butcher emphasised how having versatile players was a big bonus. Nick Ross seems to have become more of a central midfielder now but some of his best games for us was when he was playing as a winger (even if he is naturally a central midfielder, he was still better wide than Polworth!). He could probably do a job up-front as well. I was disappointed when he left and would certainly consider taking him back.

One player, despite his own issues with depression made so much worse by the unsympathetic and mocking attitude of the person he should be able to turn to for support, is courageous enough to tell the truth and if that has helped put an end to a bullying manager's career then Scottish football is the better for it.

Hes a bully and a dinosaur! No place for him in modern football or anywhere near our club. Apparently was MIA most of the time he worked OTB. Spent very little time in the Highlands at all Not for me sorry
  10. Bus fares for trial period for the coming season will be £10 for under 18s and students, £20 for adults and £10 for 65 years and over. This is cheaper than it was last season for 16-17 year olds, students and 65 and over
  11. 2 points
Why did County not retain his services then? Not for me thanks
  12. Far too early for thinking about the foreword. We haven't even worked out the basic plot or the characters
  13. 2 points
Wonder if they are still fit enough to play for us next season...
  14. 2 points
    Maybe planning a takeover
  15. 1 point
If this is true, I really don't want Jimmy Calderwood anywhere near ICT - assume this is why he hasn't been heard of for so long...
  16. 1 point
What are you his agent? These stories dont appear from nowhere! Im certain we wont appoint someone like him anyway
  17. 1 point
So you think ostricising a young player with depression is ok???
  18. 1 point
Definetly a good shout - imho, we haven't made enough use of our youth coming through & shane s has done well. Wouldn't think Ross's wage demands would be excessive but would think he would rather stay in the premiership, which is fair enough. We definetly need to be 'smart' with our player recruitment now.

Not a match winner? League cup Semi-final 2014!! Anyway, he left because Yogi wasn't playing him regularly, which is fair enough..2 years more experience under a different manager, he was still young (still is, actually) & had the cojones to knock back a contract with us to get more 1st team action..think he'd be a better player now than when we had him - and I liked him then.. There's a big Tansey-sized hole in our midfield just niw & I think someone whos played with the club & some of the players before would be an easy fit to improve the team. Having a Draper/Polworth/Vigurs/Ross midfield (or a combination of..) would be a very decent team - even if just for the championship

I see Calderwood is currently assistant manager of Aston Villa. Would he really come up here when he has a job like that? I wouldn't imagine so, even if we were still in the Premiership.
  21. 1 point
Have just noticed on STV website that Nick Ross is a free agent - contract ended at Dundee. Would lime to see him back, if another Premiership club don't snap him up..
  22. 1 point
True - the club would have definetly lost the plot if Jimmy Calderwood was appointed. Rather he stayed in Marbella, or wherever his holiday home is!

If only we could recapture the quality & grit that these guys had...

At least it's not Jimmy Calderwood

That 03/04 team was one of the best, if not the best, ICT side I've ever had the pleasure of watching. They would have destroyed this season mess with ease.
  26. This forum is totally unbelievable once again if you don't conform to happy clapping you get personal abuse by the establishment Always amazed how mods seem to turn a blind eye to some of the vitriol that gets directed my way just as well I'm thick skinned I guess and have never used the report function To get accused by fellow fans about my loyalty to ICT by those that freely admit they have big teams or supported other teams in the past just doesn't sit well with me Im not going to name these low life's as I don't want to stoop to their level but I could list screeds of posters on here that fall into that very bracket My point regarding season tickets still holds I think it's crazy buying a ticket at the moment my advice would be to wait nearer the start of the season that way it might just make the board think that unless their mind sets change they should also step down and let foreword thinking people in Dougal

Let's hope the class of 2004 had a great night out catching up and reminiscing about the great days of yore Think we have all been there where we get lumbered by an elderly drunken bam spouting mundane p1sh which puts a dampener on the evening Would certainly have been very interesting hearing these guys take on ICT at the moment but I would never force my way into their personal space Dougal

Big caleyD has hung up his media-team jeckit. The point I was trying to make is that there was always a big deal made about how so many people 'working' at the club were volunteers giving up their time for free. Then the day that people at the club were to be told whether they were being kept on or not, a volunteer resigns...hmmm....
  29. In Sweden this afternoon (3 June), Eddie Ofere scored his first goal for his current club, FC Rosengard, in a 3-2 defeat at Oskarshamns.

James McFadden that was sacked as an assistant to a dire Motherwell team that was almost relegated? That's appealing? What's his favoured system? What's his record on signings? His experience is severely limited. His success non-existent. His ability to play is gone. I see no reason why we would sign McFadden.

Great shame. Played regularly, there's little doubt that he would have been a regular scorer in the Championship.
  32. Echo that sentiment - hopefully see him back here sometime
  33. Yes, I wish Fisher well (excuse the pun!) Seriously, though, he was treated shockingly by Foran and yet gave everything he could when called upon. Respect!
  34. Fair play to him - after the way he was treated, suprised he didn't walk out of tbe club after the Well game..

New Chairman, new board members - same breathtakingly poorly constructed board statements, seemingly etched on the back of a cornflakes packet with crayons borrowed from sevco's press department. Does no one on the board actually proof read these statements before they're issued? I was under the impression that the board was littered with Fortune 500 captains of industry. Given they all seem to be retired/semi-retired heavy hitters surely they could wheel one of them into the stadium, between rounds of golf and afternoon G&Ts, to cast an eye over this opus before it's fired into the cyber world to echo through eternity. Suffice to say if someone put a statement of that quality in front of me at work they'd drown in a sea of red ink. If we move on to the actual content of said statement we quickly get to the following molten bronze pearl of wisdom..... "It is important that we select the right person for this key position.". Wow!, just wow! Although factually correct this could possibly be the greatest understatement since Captain Oates advised that he was going outside and might be some time. Given how poor their last selection was I would have thought the importance of not picking another clanger was abundantly clear to all and a more impassioned statement would have been appropriate at this juncture. Moving quickly to the retained playing staff, assuming we're successful in agreeing deals with Cammy MacKay and Kevin McNaughton that would leave us with 14 signed players, including three (3) goalkeepers. Perhaps a slight over provision in the goalkeeping region given the paucity of outfield players...just a thought. Least said about the ex Newport County retainee, soonest mended. I'm also intrigued by the "others targets" statement. Targeted by whom precisely? Rice? Kellacher? Tommy Cumming? a long serving G4S steward? It simply beggars belief that these guys think they're capable of identifying players who the new manager will ultimately have to work with. Retaining contracted players is one thing, bringing in square pegs to fit into a new manager's round holes seems to be a rather foolish enterprise, but hey, we're good at that these days. Enough already, I'm away for a lie down in a darkened room....

Jim Duffy is worth considering. Yes I know he may seem dull and uninspiring bu he has done a really solid job with Morton this season on a very tight budget.

If Mourinhou's so good, how come he gets sacked? Biggest bullies? Alex Ferguson. Jocks' Stein and Wallace. Brian Clough. If it works, it works. Craig Brewster always seemed nice. So what?

I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he's not a match winner or player to be feared. Not good enough for us before and nothing has changed. Shoot me!

This will be the Jimmy Calderwood that took Dunfermline to their highest ever league position, a Scottish Cup final and European competition. The same Calderwood that took over an 11th place Aberdeen and made them a top three team (usually) and a success in Europe. Calderwood that took over a relegation threatened Ross County then not only got them safe but also won them the Challenge Cup. He's perhaps too long out of it but I'd take any manager with that track record.

Have to agree that Jimmy Calderwood's managerial record is pretty good. The invective levelled towards him on Scottish football forums is a classic example of group think. Once you've read one P and B thread, you've read them all... "Old-school managers are 'dinosaurs', young 'progressive' coaches are terrific!" "There's no place for bullies in 'modern' football." The lamentation of bullying is pretty ironic given that football fans routinely abuse players, managers and officials from the stands and on the internet. Most young men need structure, rules and discipline imposed on them by an authority figure to keep them on track. It's just a fact of life.
