  1. Just watched the first half of the BT highlights - I only sat through that painful second half to applaud the players for their season so certainly wasn't going to watch it again. Funny how differently you see things at the time - as I experienced the Doran chance, about 10 seconds seemed to pass between the sublime first touch and the failed attempt to lift it over the keeper. Turns out it all happened in a split second and there was someone on the line to deal with it anyway. Siegriest's save from Walsh's deflected volley was probably the closest we came in retrospect. Overall, and bearing in mind injuries, fatigue, the financial chasm, the size of the crowd and club we were up against etc., that was a great effort in the first half. If we'd got the first goal then something magical might've happened. We didn't, but i'm left with nothing but massive respect for everyone involved in the effort.
  2. He doesn’t look particularly happy there. I cant help wondering.... “Great news Nathan, I’ve got you a move to Hearts. Just sign here!”
  3. Powerful stuff, but it basically ignores the quality of our opponents. You'd have a point if we were competing against Fort William in these games, obviously not if we were playing Man City. Why should we have done better against County, Dundee United and Hearts specifically? All three have significantly higher budgets to work with - Robbo has said that County have more than double our budget, Alan Preston said the other night that United had at least treble. Hearts' will be a lot more. Why do you ignore that not only did we put two of those clubs out of cup, but also finished above at least three other clubs in our league with higher budgets than us? For me, the most impressive aspect of our overall performance this season is that it took place at a time when everyone is on such a massive downer. The whole club's being cut to the bone, players leave at the first sniff of interest and we're delighted just to get them off the wage bill, the home crowds have been reduced to a small group of moany old men and some 15 year-old wannabe casuals. I'm just delighted we stayed up under these circumstances - overachievement is putting it mildly.
  4. The Board has told us how skint we are. CaleyD posted the following section from the annual report at the time of the last AGM. I think most posters on here understand the seriousness of this. It means we simply do not have the money to attract players who are proven to be quality at the level we are playing. Slowly but surely, the club is freeing up money from some of the irresponsible contracts of the past but that serves mainly to minimise the debt rather than free up money for more lucrative contracts. And don't be too dismissive of Robbo going into the English non league in search of talent . Remember, England has 10 times the population of Scotland and teams like Morpeth will be Scottish league 2 standard at the very least. Given that David Carson was not only their player of the season but also the division's player of the season, I expect he will be a very able addition to our squad. Finally, Dean Brill was playing at Wembley today for Orient in the final of the non league FA Trophy. The crowd was just short of 43,000 which was nearly 6,000 more than watched ICT when we won the Scottish Cup. The standard of non league football is way, way higher than non league football in Scotland and it will remain an important hunting ground for us. Our club has a fantastic record of identifying players with the potential to play at a higher level and we need to continue to do that if we are to continue to operate in the top two tiers of the Scottish leagues.
  5. At the beginning, he looked like he had potential, but he spends more time falling down than he does on his feet. I really don't think he will be missed. I wish him well for the furure, and maybe he thinks going down the leagues will help his form.
  6. And this guy is only 63, bejabbers ! Wait until he gets past 80....OMG! And his mind starts to go as well. Believe it or not I can step down from my house into the garage with my car keys in my pocket and then I forget what I am in there for..... I then have to phone IHE to see if he can remember why I am there and I forget his cell phone number. And then...………………….
  7. Perhaps I am really an olde git but to me the "terrace" should always be the Home End. Tell me if I am wrong but our Away support is often NOT the group that attend our home games. Many are Central Belters or from Englandshire. But why don't the "singing" home supporters NOT get North Stand season tickets - make a Singing Section down the middle and "make some noise fer the Caley Thistle Boys" ??
  8. Chalmers is off - Coll is staying put with an increased contract - I thought that Trafford was our most improved performer of late.
  9. Time for you and Gregor to step up and lead the ICTFC red and blue brigade, show us all how real fanatics do it both home and away.
  10. Sorry my friend I have life to get on with cannot afford to sit and fiddle about on computers all day. Now what was the question you asked again ,seems all so irrelevant? Oh yes, you were calling me out because I did not agree with you and had a different opinion on whether we overachieved this season. For what it's worth 15 points behind the leaders and choking in the play off semis , Scottish cup and League Cup conceding 12 goals and scoring zero is not over achieving IMO. Now please go away.
  11. Mulraney now has 4 career goals. This boy is hot.
  12. Only time will tell if he will be good enough for that level??
  13. You obviously don't understand what I mean by structure. I will try to explain. ■ Totally revamp our youth "academy" to include only kids with potential - numbers mean nothing if none are good enough ■ Have a defined path for youth to progress to full-time football with education integrated with training and coaching ■ All full-time players should be playing regularly at either first team or reserve team level ■ If you are employed full-time you should work full-time. Employees (players/coaches etc) should be promoting the club to encourage local support. I could go on and on but I would no doubt bore the drawers off you. Structure is about the whole business from grass roots up - not just the first team
  14. Great effort by the team and fantastic backing from the away fans. Unfortunately effort alone will not win us anything. It's the age olde saying: You can only p15h with the cork you've got. We know our shortcomings and I'm sure we all know who we should be keeping, but I can't fault the effort of the players, they gave all they had. Today/last night is not really the time for us to be slagging off the squad, but it should be a time to savour the microscopic shreds of success in a challenging season. I'll come back to this in a few days as we learn to cope with another season in the Championship. I don't think we should be getting ahead of ourselves and expecting success next season either. Unless a miracle happens, we will still be in the Championship, still have no money and still have sh1te referees. Plenty of passion shown on the matchday thread, but try and keep it civil. No one died and we are all different with the same aim. ps Thank Christ the season has ended. No more match reports for a couple of months

Just an observation that the 34 points that saw us finish bottom of the Premiership under Foran would have placed us 4th bottom in the 2 seasons since!
  16. Is Alan Simpson actually an ICT fan or just an unhappy person who sees his glass always nearly empty. Such a negative poster - needs a wee smile sometime surely or..........
  17. Just so long as John Robertson doesn't leave......eh?
  18. Aye, rite enaff. Misread the Wiki table, they should make it clearer, or have a “Seniors Only” version ?
  19. I couldn't agree more IHE. We are probably contemporaries, although from different sides of the rivalry, from our old Highland League days, and there was more passion and atmosphere at the games then, than at most of our home games now. Our singing section remains uncovered and empty, and the only time I have seen anybody sitting there was at our European tie.
  20. I hope you are right regarding Coll and I hope we can keep Trafford as well as you have said he has improved a lot lately.

Actually a pretty good Yngwie post. Cant travel back in time but shows that we were unlucky to end up in our present predicament.
  22. Am I wrong in thinking that the main shittt stirring culprits nowadays are shittt stirring, rose coloured spectacled, know it alls - trying to pissss off the more outspoken, albeit understandable members of the forum who have a more negative "view" of proceedings. Perhaps "vultures" of another kind ?? Bet I know who doesn't give me a "greenie" for this post. ?
  23. Spot on DD - English non-league sides are of a far better quality than most folk realise, with budgets and grounds most Scottish clubs can only dream about - so choose wisely and we could pick up some gems just waiting for a break...
  24. A late late contender for the most ridiculous post of the season.
  25. On the flip side home fans dont offer same support as away fans.
  26. Or Fashing trip... Glad to see the back of him. He was hopeless. At least you get 100% from big Jordan, even if his second touch is a tackle ?
  27. Very strange. The move is also reported on the P&J website. I get that Kelty are an ambitious club and may well be challenging for the lowland league title next year, but it still represents a massive drop in level for him. I certainly prefer White to Austin in many respects but I always felt that Austin was a more natural finisher and he's had a few very composed finishes for us. It may be that a drop down the leagues will provide him with the opportunity to boost his confidence with a hat full of goals, but I remain to be convinced that Yngwie's explanation isn't the truth of the matter!

I would take the red and black stripes from The Jaggies for the new top and the white shorts of caley for the new shorts, that sounds just perfect.
  29. he was actually offered a new contract by us, but i am glad he has gone. he was rubbish
  30. McCart Chalmers Rooney Referee - terrible Chris Sutton - worse than terrible

Yeah fans paid for the privilege. But here’s another idea for the anniversary- incorporate into the material the names of all the players to have appeared in the last 25 years. A variation on Where’s Wally!

Might reverse the home and away kits ! Other than that, a great idea.
  33. Craig Whyte school of economics where teetering on the edge of administration is sold as being flush with cash!
  34. Is this an alternative reality ictfc??
  35. Poor home fans would if they weren't watching us scrape boring draws every fortnight
  36. Overachieved, absolutely no way, we finished 15 points behind the leaders and struggled to win enough games. A wee bit of perspective here please.
  37. What do folks on here expect of ICT We have come third in the league with probably the sixth top budget in the league We have reached the semi finals of the Scottish Cup We reached the semi finals of the playoffs and decisions from the officials have cost us. I think we have massively overachieved and the management and players deserve a lot of thanks for this. Also the away fans deserve a lot of credit. The neagative posters on here need to have a reality check and if they are not happy with what we have achieved this season, have a look at where Falkirk who are a bigger club and have a far bigger fan base than ourselves are this evening . We certainly have a lot of moaners in our support. Have a good summer folks hopefully the sun will lighten some perspectives on here?
  38. Well done on all the reports and previews I for one appreciate the effort and enjoy reading them
  39. The poor home fans might want to try getting behind the team.
  40. Worrying trend this season has been abysmal home form, 2nd worse in league. Poor home fans not getting value for money.
  41. Indeed, and the teams that ended our participation in the 3 major tournaments were Hearts, Hearts and Dundee Utd, whose wage budgets are several times ours.
  42. I agree. We have a real chance of promotion next season but we need to be quicker out of the blocks and convert far more of the chances we get and that includes any penalties we are awarded. For those criticising how we did this season, given that we have the sixth biggest budget in the division, does finishing third and being the only Championship side to progress as far as we did in a major knock out tournament not represent a fair measure of success ?
  43. I think its been a decent season given our small squad. 3rd and the semi final of a national cup. Still kinda feel that it is a case of what could have been though. Too many draws earlier in season the reason.
  44. A season with only a few highs the cup run that is ! The football on display was at times hard to watch big improvements needed nxt year ! Walsh and Doran had good spells Polly be a big miss hopefully some of the young guns make the breakthrough rather see them than these unknown players we seem to sign like seeing local boys coming thro
  45. Graeme Shinnie has signed a pre contract agreement with Derby County. Must be terrible for the Dons and their fans to have their club captain poached my a larger wealthier club and to lose him for nothing at the end of his contract.
  46. Only the fourth!!!!!!!!!!, you're lucky.
  47. 1 point
    he'll no doubt be seething
  48. ?? this is a joke right?
  49. It's probably because Barry Ferguson is in charge they seem like a team on the up wouldn't surprise me if they get promoted to the football league in the next couple of years
