That was a hard watch. Players getting used to each other was probably a factor as was the gusty wind, but in truth, Queens showed more energy and desire and were better organised. The stats say we had 17 shots on goal (which is encouraging) but none of them made the keeper work. I'm not too despondent though. I think we do have the talent to make progress once the team gels and I think the new signings give us options we didn't have before. Savage looks decent at centre back, McAllister looked lively and Pepple looked strong and could be a good target man. Pick of the new signings at this stage would appear to be Samuel. He probably should have score again today but he holds the ball up very well and has a great work rate. At the moment there is a pretty obvious lack of confidence in front of goal, exemplified by two awful efforts by Gilmour towards the end, but with options up front, we need to be more positive going forward. If we do that we will create more and we will score more. We also need the fans to get behind the guys on the pitch more. It means a lot to them and yet for many of our so called support, the most noise they ever make is when they are shouting abuse at their own players. It is a significant reason why the team seems to play so much better away from home. We call ourselves supporters, so let's give a bit support to the team.4 points

Quite. If you didn't laugh you'd cry. Seriously though, the SLO should be the main contact person between the club and the fans. Any club that values communication with the fans would ensure that the appointment of the SLO received maximum possibly publicity. Not to publicise it at all is contemptible. Not only has the club not announced this, they haven't even bothered to change the website. It still lists Gordon Fyffe as SLO. It is great that Scott Young has been attending the Supporters Trust's open meetings and I wish him all the best in the role. I do wonder though, what the club has told him his role is. The SLO is a role that Supporters Direct Scotland and the SFA have worked closely together on in order to provide guidance to clubs. Scott, just in case you haven't been provided with a copy, you can find one here.3 points

Is Duncan Ferguson immune from criticism? That was another shocking display, every bit as poor as any under Dodds. I'm not convinced he has a clue what he's doing.3 points

We've been hoping that a lot of money making things work out, but one by one, they all seems to end in disappointment. Maybe this is an appropriate time to remind folk of what Scot Gardiner said in a lengthy CEO update posted on June 13th. Referring to the new Green Freeport, Gardiner said "This is a designation which will no doubt be hugely impactful and positive for the club for years to come and we are working with our legal team at WJM and our new auditors A9 Accountancy in Inverness to maximise the opportunities on this front." Just a few months later, and thoughts of this being a boost to the club's finances seem to be dead in the water with the club Chairman, Ross Morrison, telling fans at a Supporters Trust meeting that he just couldn't see how the club can get any benefit from this at all. Gardiner also wrote "Infrastructure improvements at the Stadium have been identified and exciting new commercial contracts have been progressed, some to be announced in the coming days including our technical kit partner and main jersey sponsor/partner and subject to legal agreements in the coming weeks, we hope to have important news about the Stadium and its environs." Despite the Trust's Matchday Experience Survey identifying a wide range of issues with the stadium and its environs, the hoped for important news has still not been delivered. I hope to make it to today's game but I won't be able to go to the Trust's meeting before it. Scott Young, the club's newest Director, should be present at the meeting and should, by now, be rather more up to speed with what is going on at the club. Perhaps he will be able to tell supporters what it was that was hopefully going to be announced, but which hasn't been. Is the stadium going to remain an unwelcoming dump or is the club going to act upon some of the constructive and cost effective ideas that fans came up with in their survey responses and which are outlined in the survey report.?3 points

Hibs are on a bad run and got thumped 3-0 at home by St Mirren today. They’ve 2 points out of 18 in the league and scraped past Forfar 1-0 on the last round. We need to approach it positively and believing we can win it. We’ve caused bigger cup upsets and it will do confidence a power of good if we can get a positive result.2 points

Big game tomorrow. With Arbroath idle, a win puts us 7 ahead of Queens Park and 8 ahead of Arbroath, although both will have a game in hand. If we win, we will overtake Ayr and / or Dunfermline if they fail to win. Goodness knows how we will line up, but Samuel and Mckay both need to start up front. Ferguson has really shaken the squad up and has not been afraid to make big decisions (eg Welsh and Carson). Hopefully the newbies are better than those who have gone and we start to put a strong run together. I’m looking forward to the game, but just hope the wind drops and doesn’t make the game a lottery.2 points

Six Pointers Already Callum Davidson brings his new charges North for what might be considered a six-pointer already at this stage of the season with both teams desperate for points to clamber away from bottom spot in the table, currently held by Arbroath. January sales have brought new faces in and old faces out. The latest ins being Aribusitamunoipirim Emmanuel Pepple & Sean McAllister and the latest outs being David Carson, Jake Davidson and Robbie Thompson. Queens Park have added Danny Wilson, not the band but the former Liverpool, Hearts and Rangers defender to their squad. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Match/Ticket Info Sean McAllister In David Carson Out Aribim Pepple In Jake Davidson Out Shake it all About (Robbie Thompson) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last 7 Competitive Meetings 4 - 1 (A) 1 - 2 (H) 1 - 2 (A) 0 - 2 (H) 0 - 0 (H) 1 - 2 (A) 1 - 1 (H) Over the last couple of seasons Queens Park had the beating of us during the Doddsball era. However, we had a tremendous away win at Hampden Park last time out, our first since Queens Park were promoted into the Championship in season 22/23. FULL TIME: 4 - 1 Happy Days! Our biggest win of the season, first goal for Ujdur with Anderson, Spoony and Mckay all hitting the back of the net. All this with Ferguson sent to the stands at half time. Plenty room for him there in an empty National Stadium. Inverness move up to sixth in the table and we play Morton at Cappielow on Tuesday night where a win would see us jump another place to fifth. (never happened meh!) Indifferent results from Inverness over the last five, but the two wins were well deserved away wins at Somerset Park and Starks park, scoring three goals on each occasion. Alex Samuel was the hero last weekend against Raith Rovers with a first half hat-trick. In between those two wins we snatched defeat from the jaws of a draw at home against Dundee United when a late goal ruined our TV night. We also progressed to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after beating Broomhill 4-0. We now face Hibernian at home in the next round. Eat yer heart out Derek! Inverness CT Last Five Championship Games: D L W L W Callum Davidson is the new manager of Queens Park and in his first game in charge he saw his new side beat Raith Rovers 2-1. On BBC Sport, Davidson said: "Really pleased with the character. They reacted really well, the heads could've gone down. We got back into the game with a fantastic goal by Cammy. Delighted for him. Sean (Welsh) was a real calming influence. It's a great start and it's just three points for us. I'll hopefully try and get a couple more players in." He was undone in his next game as another new manager, Scott Brown saw his Ayr United beat Queens Park 2-1 with Sean Welsh being sent off. The other win over the last five was a 2-1 win over Dunfermline on the 5th of January. Queens Park Last Five Championship Games: L L W W L Latest Team News Inverness made a host of defensive signings in the sales bringing in James Carragher, Callum Kerr, Remi Savage and Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen. All four have had some game time since joining but the most effective newbie so far has been the loan signing of striker Alex Samuel from the quaint market town of Dingwall. Big outs were Sean Welsh to Queens Park and David Wotherspoon to Dundee United. Zak Delaney is now on the injured list at Arbroath. Add David Carson to the out list: Sold to Livingston and Robbie Thompson on loan to Spartans. Here's one for you, the longest name ever to sign on at the Caledonian Stadium: I give you Aribusitamunoipirim Emmanuel "Aribim" Pepple. Quite the transfer window that we have been involved in. That's around 50 players that have been in or around our squad this season. I couldn't even hazard a guess at our team selection for tomorrow, apart from maybe Mark Ridgers will take the gloves. Awaiting team news. I doubt if Ferguson even knows the players names. Queens Park have a new manager and a new goal scoring midfield maestro in Sean Welsh, when he is not injured. However, he is suspended after his red card last week against Ayr United . A couple of loan players in, Mackenzie Carse, midfielder (Celtic) and James Crole, forward (Cardiff City). Callum Haspell has joined from Rothes. A big miss will be Barry Hepburn who has returned to Bayern Munich. Ruari Paton is way out on his own as top scorer with 15 goals. Former Liverpool, Hearts and Rangers defender Danny Wilson is a late transfer signing for QP. Team v Ayr United last week Ferrie Bannon Thomson Robson Mauchin (McPherson 83) Welsh Turner (Spong 71) Bruce (McKinstry 72) Longridge (Carse 71) Paton Thomas Subs Not Used: McKenna; Jarrett, Reid, Williamson, Tizzard1 point

Having listened to Ferguson's post match interview I wonder if I was at the same game? This was an inept display against a very poor opposition and despite plenty of possession we never looked like scoring. Queens Park had one shot at goal and scored whereas we couldn't manage one attempt on target as we seemed to think that passing the ball across the penalty area was better than having a go. I just don't understand the tactics1 point

I have given up hope for this season. Just hope we can muster enough points to avoid the play offs : really can't believe I am saying that. It'll soon be 10 years since we won the cup and finished 3rd in the Premiership.... Utterly depressing.1 point

Hibs would have had someone watching our game today and we will have had them thinking that they will come up here and win but the pressure is all on them and we seem to play better against the bigger clubs. Even after the game today I think we can win this game!1 point

That was a tough watch, as has been the case so often. I thought we started poorly but then largely dominated the first half but couldn’t score. We were too tippy tappy yet again in the final third when shots were on. We came out strongly in the second half but conceded against the run of play and never looked like getting back in it after then. We could look at some poor refereeing decisions or play acting and time wasting by Queens Park but, in truth, we were just not capable of getting anything today. Our home form and results are shocking and it’s needs sorted very quickly.1 point

I suppose we have to accept its a new half team and a number of players have never played together. It's simple I suppose put the ball in the net to have any chance and if you cannot do that don't give away a goal. First half we had so many chances but tried to score the perfect goal.Queens first shot on target and they score. You couldn't make it up. Not despondent as Savage looked good,as did McAllister and Kerr. Samuel holds the ball up well and has show he can score,so sometimes we have to take a sore one, whilst we regroup and build a new. Next week will be the test and a time to show what we can do. Some of these boys met only two days ago so it is far to early to be overly critical.I didn't read much criticism last week when we beat second in the league,or when we were pipped by the top team before that. Why not give the team time to gel and get to know each other before slaughtering them. If we were to somehow beat Hibs next week will all those down on the team still be doom and gloom. We are far better than we were at the start of the season that's for sure and I'd have big Dunc anyday before the previous incumbent.1 point

I’m feeling very confident about this. We never win when I feel this confident.1 point

Last week at raith, Ridgers used the long ball quite a lot aiming for Samuel. Worked well due to his strength bossing the defenders. Dunc said in interview he was unplayable. not sure about that tactic for today as forecast from 15.00 is 18 to 20 mph winds gusting to 40 mph (XC weather ) Hoping for a repeat performance from the Welsh haaland. Last week with his back to the defender he was like a one man Irish scrum, taking the ball in or back peddling to cause defender to play poor defensive headers. gone are the days when we pumped a high ball up to billy which resulted in a easy header for the defender. ( not Billy’s fault )1 point

I expect QP to be negative as all Davidson teams are. Another game of the visitors sitting deep but hopefully now we have some creativity to break them down. Can't see is getting many as I doubt QP will open up even if behind, but after the RR result we should have some confidence among the squad and new guys.1 point

> I give you Aribusitamunoipirim Emmanuel "Aribim" Pepple. Thank heavens that's his forename. Imagine getting that on a jersey! Looking forward to seeing the line-up tomorrow. As you say, we can probably count on Ridgers in goal, but after that...1 point

If he had spare cash at the time and decided to donate it to bail out the concert company, I suspect that the vast majority of that money would have gone to the multimillionaire artists and not to local businesses. And then he would not have had the money to inject into ICT and keep us afloat.1 point

I think that’s a fair summary except on point 6. Morrison has a charge over ALL of the club’s assets, not just the shares in the battery company. So if those shares are worthless he’d still be owed his money and the likelihood is that the club would have no realistic means to pay him back for the foreseeable future.1 point

So our total business in the window: IN: Remi Savage (Newcastle United), James Carragher (Wigan Athletic, loan), Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen (Leeds United, loan), Cammy Kerr (Dundee, loan), Sean McAllister (Everton, loan), Aribim Pepple (Luton Town, loan), Alex Samuel (Ross County, loan) OUT: David Carson (Livingston), Zak Delaney (Arbroath), Sean Welsh (Queen's Park), David Wotherspoon (Dundee United), Keith Bray (Elgin City, loan), Ethan Cairns (Banks o' Dee, loan), Jake Davidson (Hamilton Academical, loan), Lewis Hyde (Brora Rangers, loan), Robbie Thompson (The Spartans, loan), Cillian Sheridan Regarding the players who have left, obviously we'd have all loved to keep hold of Wotherspoon. Welsh was a great player for us but his fitness has always been an issue and it seems that Dunc prefers Gilmour and Anderson as his starting central midfielders. Moving Welsh on will have freed a significant wage, and he was surely going to leave in the summer anyway. Ditto Carson, who has probably been usurped at right wing-back by Kerr but would have been another option in the middle od the park. Again, Dunc seems happy with his options there, with McAllister brought in as another alternative to the current starting trio of Gilmour, Anderson and Shaw (hopefully Roddy MacGregor stays fit as another option here). Meanwhile Delaney and Davidson have rarely looked of Championship standard and have shown precious little signs of progressing towards that level so we've done well to move them on (Davidson only temporarily, mind - Dodds gave him a two year deal!). It's nice to see us coming up with SPFL loans for youngsters rather than Highland League ones for a change. As for the newbies, McAllister and Pepple are obviously unknowns, but the three centre-backs all look like they have something about them and Kerr and Samuel should do very well for us. In the short-term we seem to have enough quality and depth to stay up (famous last words) though we'll need a pretty decent run to get to the promotion playoffs. The long-term picture is murkier. That's eight loan players we have now. We don't have many folk under contract for next year - Davidson, Nicolson, Savage, Ujdur, Gilmour, Longstaff, Brooks and Mckay plus a few youngsters I think? Ideally we need to get ourselves safe quickly so there is plenty of time to decide who to try and keep and to try and convince them to stay...1 point

I have little understanding how all this business wheeling and dealing works, but my take on the position is this. 1. In answer to OCG, I think this is the first time secured loans from Directors have been used to finance the club. I think there may have been previous bank loans 2. The fact that secured loans are being made suggests that those providing the loans do not have, or are unwilling simply to give the club the money currently required to keep the club afloat. 3. In the event of money coming into the club, either from the Battery project or elsewhere, Morrison and Munro would expect their loans to be repaid resulting in the "charge" being discharged. 4. If Morrison and Munro request the loans to be repaid and the club does not have the money to repay them, then the Battery Company shares become the property of the 2 directors. 5. ILI have a business model of acquiring land and driving through planning consent for green energy projects and then selling the site on. I would assume that this is the case here and that there would be an injection of cash relatively quickly if planning permission is granted. ILI will not have had to purchase the land in this instance and therefore both ILI and the Battery company will profit from the sale of the site. 6. In the event of the battery project failing, then the shares in the company would become almost worthless. The club could then repay Morrison and Munro with the shares so that the 2 of them would in effect be writing off their loans. It does seem to me that this all indicates the club's financial position is pretty precarious, but hopefully someone with a better understanding of these things can prove me wrong. One thing that will sit uncomfortably with many is that Morrison does, apparently, now have money to put into the club (albeit with strings attached), when so recently he was unable or refused to put money into the concert company. The concert company was declared bankrupt with the result that local creditors were left out of pocket as a result of the concert company's botched management of the concerts.1 point

To me the smart thinking is that we are holding on to a number of younger "reserve" players but putting them in positions where they get regular football and that can only end up showing if they are up to the mark or not. The other issue would be financial and we are probably paying some spondoolicks for the loanees - especially McAllister - and Samuel, unless there is some kind of agreement with Uncle Roy !!1 point
-
This season and this transfer window is purely about survival. Accomplish this and the proper rebuild will take place, not sure how this will relate to our youth system, hopefully DF is factoring our young players into his future thoughts by getting them game time in the remaining months of this season. Next season push for playoffs and season 3 promotion?1 point

Quite an amazing rotation. Some of our established players may now sign pre contracts with other clubs whilst other longstanding players may not be offered extensions. Even if we do well with the changes, next season will involve a massive squad update. On a more humorous note the Club press release says Aribim left the Cavalry to go to Spain!!!1 point

Before the transfer window we were in desperate need of a decent striker and an attacking/creative midfielder. Thankfully we seem to have ticked those boxes and brought in some other new faces who will hopefully strengthen other areas and provide more options. I'm positive about our prospects in the second half of the season and I still think we have a sneaky wee chance of coming 4th and making the playoffs..... Time will tell.1 point

I asked previously for a midfielder who can break through the lines, pacy, strong etc. At 6 ft tall as well he will do for me. From everton He's strong, quick and very brave and does a lot of work off the ball. He doesn't give defenders time on the ball. He's very versatile, has plenty of pace and was always a great listener who took things on board very well,"1 point
