  1. I'm surprised noone else has mentioned the choice of shirts that were on show. Reminded me of days of yore when two Highland League sides wore similar colours. However i'm not surprised that the team in blue won.... ;)

  2. Played that game pretty much the same way as we played the Hibs game....but against better opposition. I don't think we really "sat back" as such. We got our noses in front and then as the game progressed we didn't over commit ourselves going forward....and in doing so didn't bring any extra/unnecessary pressure to bare on the defence. Tremarco was the stand out for me today...by the end of the game none of the St Johnstone players looked keen to try and make any kind of move down the left for the fear of encountering him. Thought Marley did really well today also. Didn't shine due to a lack of outlets going forward as the game wore on, but he probably ran (quite literally) more time off the clock than anyone else. He's also getting more accustomed to dropping back to cover when Shinnie pushed forward and had a couple of good defensive tackles. Nick Ross took a smack to the face which resulted in a broken tooth and a burst lip, but he was in good spirits after the game and a dentist somewhere's about to make a few quid. Whoever gets the managers job really is going to feel like all their Christmases have come at once.

  4. Yeah we should cut them some slack. Any time I want to have a bit of a laugh I go out and nick something from a pub or shop for fun.

  7. I heard yesterday that he was at the game. Yet we also heard yesterday he was out of the running...I just dont know anymore Alot of hearsay to be honest. Hopefully everything will be settled by tomorrow evening. (Wishful thinking) Your right...wishful thinking. Still remaining as Team Hartley here... Same here but if someone of Craig Levein's calibre came calling I think the club would opt for him. All hearsay again but if he is available aye fair enough.

  8. DD has it spot on. Hibs have blown a fortune in the last season on time wasters like James Collins and have nothing to show for it. Terry and Mo will be doing the same thing they did here. Free bes and loanees. Only difference is they wont have to settle for the 3rd or 4th option on the list. They will more than likely get their prime targets. I really dont fear then coming after our players. Hibs paid through the nose just to get the Managerial Dream team they wanted. I will be surprised if any money will be left to spend (unless they have a clear out). As said the players havent lost faith and they certainly havent lost their bottle. The last performances, Hibs with the circumstances and St Johnstone being a boagey team pay dividence to that. We are on the brink of making more history in our near 20 year existance. We as fans can all sense and I think so can the players.

  9. The idea behind stealing flags comes from the Ultra culture in European football - an Ultras group were supposed to disband if someone else nicked their flag. The idea being that you would storm their end and beat them in a fight until you could swipe their flag. I'm guessing that this didn't happen in this case

  10. When Adams goes head to head with the Butcher next Saturday, deep inside his head will be the BBC video of ICT equalising in the last second of last year's Cup match when he had already celebrated a victory. Ross County Wanderers are likely to be wound up and with three sendings off in the last two games, a fourth or fifth is not unlikely. With Butcher in the dugout again, the chances of a good rammi could mean an addition to the Coca Cola video. There are bound to be fireworks in next week's video. It will be strange for Terry, Mo and Steve to head past our stadium and in some ways it would be fitting for them to head back empty handed although we have to be ready for Morton and to stop Doug Imrie shooting from distance.

  11. Btw, have I mentioned that I'd like Paul Sturrock to be the next manager?!

  12. Think there was still a problem with him and his Scotland contract, he is still getting money from SFA, Until he gats another job of course, but if the job offer is way less money he will lose out. Vinnie used to have a house on the black Isle near Munlochy, don't know if he still has it though!

  15. Spoken to one of them. They didn't know the significance of the flag and he has apologised. I'm assured the flag will be returned. Will let you know when.

  18. Hmm, don't think Saint Johnstone or Aberdeen can do it. Hearts could be a dark horse for the treble though.

  19. Aye Foran definately suspended. Personally i would think it will be the usual team minus Foran. This will give our new manager a chance to see us in action properly.

  21. Just had another look and a fact I can't get over is why no team has been allocated South and Famous five upper tier. "Heart of Midlothian: West Stand Upper & Lower, East Stand, South Stand Lower and Famous Five Stand Lower; Easter Road Stadium" http://spfl.co.uk/news/article/league-cup-semi-final-prices-announced/#86hs1rc401hfh1dC.99 Would be ridiculous if it's empty and the game is on the television.

  22. That was an important win and the player's reaction at the end showed they knew it. We have often struggled against St J and they needed to get something out of the game to close the gap on us. They looked a pretty decent, well motivated side but were closed down well with their main threats well marshalled. They had more possession but the fact that Deano did not have a single save to make speaks volumes of how solid we were defensively At the end we won ugly but we started pretty brightly. We had a lovely passage of passing football early on before great work from Tremarco down the left allowed him to cross and Billy did well to get on the end of it to score. We managed to create the better chances and it was perhaps disappointing that others, Draper in particular, did not have their shooting boots on. But just as our defence closed them down well, theirs did the same. There was some great tackling and covering by both sides and St J will play a lot worse and win this season. I thought both Tremarco and Watkins played well. Doran was a bit disappointring by his usual standards but for me it was Nick Ross who was the weak link. He started off really well and had some great touches but as the game got more competetive he was far less effective and was regularly bullied off the ball and pressurised into errors. He was subbed because of a knock but in my view he should have been off earlier. No doubt those potential managers on the short list will have been watching and I wonder what they made of the team. It might be a difficult choice between Tremarco and Raven but I would be surprised if Ross will be in a new manager's first XI. The rest should be safe. I would bring Vincent back in when fit with Watkins in place of Ross. Today was a no nonsense win against a good side. I think any incoming manager will be well pleased by what they saw today.

  24. Some wag on the ICT V St Johnston commentary thread on the BBC said that if Levein is appointed as the Caley thistle manager he plans to sign Kenny miller up front--lone striker, like. Well, that is certainly a very intriguing thought and worth a try since he was doing very well with the Whitecaps as the season was winding down and scored some fantastic goals and he looked very fit so I think he is a dedicated man who speaks rather well (for an western type . Ha!) who might even be good coach material later on. We will see....

    • Relegation Statement
RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

    • Hamilton 2-1 Inverness CT - Play off final 1st Leg
A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

    • Inverness CT (1-2) Hamilton - Play off Final 2nd Leg - Preview
The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

    • Hamilton -V- Inverness CT - Play off Final 1st Leg - Preview
However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.
