  1. My Facebook Post from earlier today..... Words can not explain how I feel right now. Today I heard of the passing of one the nicest guys I ever met whilst supporting Inverness Caley Thistle. He was a laugh, a true Caley Thistle fan, a gent and was always in awe at my (our) long distance journeys that were made as a family to follow his (our) team. He was also a founder member of the infamous Highland March and also became the saviour of it too on that very first event. I shared the support bus with him on a number of occasions we're we talked football and rock music. From those halcyon days of the HM, the fun in the Innes Bar, the home matches and the away matches on the supporters bus I will never forget you Simon MacDonald ‘Bronson’ never. With a heavy heart I bid you farewell my friend and may you rest in peace now. My heart also goes out to all your family and friends. A pain unimaginable right now. I hope my words ease that awful pain somehow.

  2. Watched on tv. Proud of team, gave everything but have to say the attacking force of Hibs totally outclassed us. Boyle ran us ragged, the 3 bookings on him within about 20 mins told the story. Biggest problem for me was that we didn't have a plan B - literally no alternatives for Carson/Trafford, both of whom had very early bookings. I didn't get the line-up (for me Keatings and Walsh were not involved nearly enough) but such is the way of things with that formation. We'd no other option but to try to make use of the wide players who were (abundantly) available. Last season I thought Tremarco's best days were behind him, but as said by other posters this is clearly not the case. Tremendous performance. While he certainly wasn't flawless, Trafford gave everything and never hid and same with Carson. Credit to them both, specially after early bookings. Interesting to hear White get so much praise from commentators for both his performance during game and in general this season. I for one was glad to hear it as he gets plenty of criticism elsewhere. Roll on Tuesday.

Simon was a stalwart of this forum from the very beginning and we offer our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to all friends and family. Rest In Peace big man.

  4. Doesn't want Robbo because of his big game record but suggests Peter Houston?

  5. For what it's worth, I thoroughly enjoyed last night's game, apart from the result obviously, and it turned on key decisions by the referee. Thought he got the Ridgers call right but that was about all he did get right. Felt the bookings were harsh for effectively their first fouls and he couldn't wait to book the players. Would he have done that in an Old Firm match?. Definitely teams are being refereed to different standards outside the Old Firm. Giving Hibs a penalty was correct but then to deny us one for something very similar was poor. Nick Walsh is a poor and arrogant referee, witness his dismissive attitude towards Robbo at full time. I get what people say about the tactics but it made for a more open game and had we got the penalty or Walsh scored, the tactics we used may have proved correct and it did catch Hibs out for spells. Proud of how the team performed and maybe we will get a refereeing decision to go for us one of these days.

  6. As CaleyCanary has said, Bronson was part of the original Highland March back in 2003 and was indeed part of its conception. He was also so welcoming of me when I moved from Coventry to Inverness nearly 14years ago, and though I seldom saw him in recent years, he'd always be full of smiles and laughs whenever our paths crossed. A real ICT-nut and true legend. RIP Bronson x

  8. I would have to say that the Happy Clapper mode has totally outshone the negates but also the realistic. I think that I must have been watching a different game on telly. "Could have beens" are a plenty. What if Hibs were awarded the early penalty claim and Ridgers was dismissed (a mere example of many for both sides). We definitely remained committed to the final whistle and never gave up. The only people to play "attacking football" were Walsh, Rooney and Tremarco. We simply got it horribly wrong tactically. 4-3-3 from the off was disastrous, especially given the players chosen. With Keatings in "no mans land" it was almost a 4-2-4. Trafford and Carson were give too much to cover and that led to their cards. Mckay is NOT a central defender and he and McHattie have not gelled. When you play 3 up front you need pace, width and a hit on the break mentality. In that formation the two pacier wide men can afford to play deeper. Storey and Walsh would have been that combination. I would have played Keatings up front instead of White and added in a third covering midfielder, probably in McGregor. But there again this is all the haverings of an armchair would-be manager. It would be interesting to hear the views of peeps who were actually there. The pundits were being paid to make it sound fantastic ??

  12. Totally shocked by the news, a true ICT fan who was there from the start. Many happy memories with Bronson in the "old days", cant believe he's gone. My heart goes out to his family and in particular his lovely dad. RIP Bronson

  14. What awful news. I knew him only through this site and from meeting occasionally at games or in the pre-match pub. He was always friendly, passionate and humorous, and his drunken late night posts on this site were legendary for many years. RIP Brosno.

  15. Earlier in the season I would have said this would be his final season, but he’s really impressed me in the last few weeks.

  16. Piece in Courier about Tremarco. As the club has not made him an offer, he is considering whether to speak to other teams. Despite his age and injury issues, I believe we should offer a one year extension.

  17. I've voted no change same as above but absolutely understand the work you put into it and really appreciate it. Caleyjag and I really enjoy taking part. I'd be more than willing to offer my assistance to keep it going should you require it.

  18. Hi Mantis, I've just double-checked and realised that I've already got the Thistle v Caley programme from 92-93. Thanks Brian.

  19. That was a top 6 Spl team Foran had just poorly coached and managed lost the dressing room! Sorry pal I'm not seeing improvements at all if we keep him I can see us going downwards but who nos maybe he'll shock me and get us up this season! Dunno think most of the players he's got had limited choices tbh most young guns wouldn't no who he is unless there jambos ! Billy Reid I posted on here at the time yogi got bagged should go for him great on a shoestring budget excellent record at developing youth players just what we needed at the time think he's an assistant manager at some Norwegian team bud or he was last I heard of him

  20. He was left with what was a very poor post-Foran team, and he's improved us and brought in some decent players at this level. Agreed he's make tactical errors and we've struggled against bigger/better opposition, but if we chuck him the greater likelihood is that we'd go downwards. He's well respected considering his career as a player, and for that reason we've attracted players that others couldn't, especially managers like Billy Ried (where has he even been for the last decade, this was a very random choice).

  21. Who else would take it put it out there and see personally I'd like Billy Reid and if we don't get promoted yet again what then just stick with a man who'd be on his 4 attempt don't be ridiculous man change is needed robbo every time wev stepped up big game has been found wanting every manager has a shelf life robbos reaching the end of his was a crazy appointment to begin with

  22. I agree with Caleyd shocker. Its not about the money. Are the players better than when we bought them. Yes Is the team better than sum of parts. Yed Could we on our best day with our best team win the playoffs. Yes. Do we have messi ronaldo and pele up front so that Alan can complain Storey would be better? No We are what we are. Dissappointed to lose to atavs. Happy to have had a good game against hibs.

  23. We are in a false position. Previously when we have been 2nd in the 1st Division/Championship we would have a team capable of matching most premiership bottom 6 sides. The standard of our current league is pretty abysmal. That fact we are second after some of the performances and play this season is shocking. In reality. We have lost 2 very competent centre backs who helped us to this position. Mccart is already getting rave reviews in Perth. Coll has settled in well. Playing mchattie who we took as a covering squad player from Raith rovers and Brad McKay whose limitations are clearly obvious to any football observer. It's no surprise we conceded so easily against a creative team with boyle and allan. Welsh is our best midfielder by a distance but is constantly injured. Our top scorer has barely any goals. Currently this is a limited team and don't let the league table fool you. Yes, we beat livi who are flying high but the wind was a major leveller with neither side creating anything. Robbo is doing very well to get us to second in the league and it seems by doing this and raising expectations it is causing him to come under attack from some.

  24. The accounts don't lie and the club is still spending the same now as we were in the Premiership....that's why we're posting £800k+ annual losses just now! As I've asked before....If it's not being spent on the squad, where is it being spent?
    1 point
  25. Yes, but we also need good players as well. Having watched the last three televised games, I am now of course an expert And we simply don't have the quality in the team that we used to have. Ridgers is indispensable, so we must hope that no one makes a good offer for him in the summer. Tremarco gets 10/10 for effort. Shaun Rooney caught my eye in these games - get a little more guile into his game and he he could go far. Trafford is a liability, and both he and Carson need to learn about anger management. Our forwards lack skills and penetrative power. Having said all that, until the ref gifted Hibs the chance for their second last night, I thought it could have gone either way. One thing that did surprise me was that I expected Hibs to have a good, well-drilled defence. Yet the number of times that we got through - especially given what I think of our penetrative power - shows that they didn't. That second goal was a game-changer - easy for Hibs then, and impossible for us. Credit to the team for keeping on going, and getting the ball in the net twice. So don't get me wrong. I'd love them to go up. Provided we didn't go on a stupid spending spree or give the existing players unaffordable rises, the worst that could happen is that we would come straight back down with a parachute payment. We might scrape enough points to stay up - we beat Livi, did OK against Hibs for a while, and narrowly lost out to Dundee Utd. But we need a striker or two. Need to shore up the defence. And, most importantly, we need someone who can impose their personality on the game - someone who can really influence things.

  26. Ridiculous that people call for Robbo's head. Can you imagine the budget of Hibs compared to ours, especially these days. Who exactly would you replace him with? People forget we've got to a cup final, quarter final, and are well in contention to be promoted to the premier league. Totally clueless.

  27. Pathetic attacks on the team and manager on here. Tactics may or may not have been correct. We were on top before the first goal for quite a period and if Tom Walshs strike had gone in it would have been a very different game. To sit deep against ( Scottish International) passers like Scott Allen giving them time on the ball like he got in the second half after the sending off would have been catastrophic imho. Our forwards troubled the hibs defence , we scored 2 goals and could have scored 4 but for some superb goalkeeping from marciano. Our defence played to their level with some great last minute tackles from brad mackay Rooney ,and tremarco. Mchattie gave away a silly penalty and showed some inexperience but thats who we are. A team of developing players getting better under robbie rather than worse under Foran. Midfield were outclassed by a great hibs side coached by jack ross who made the most of their forwards amazing movement. Ridgers was a rock. Hibs are the form side in the premier league since Jack Ross took over moving from one point of the bottom to sixth place and too hear the same tired refrain of its all Robbos fault is disappointing to say the least. I think yesterdays game and the match against other premier league teams this season shows that even after losing Mcart and Coll we can challenge the premier league teams in the playoffs especially if we have our best team on the pitch. We missed Sean Welsh yesterday but I see hope not despair that promotion is possible. So support the team rather than attack the people working to that success.

  28. Well I for one am hugely disappointed with that performance. Going 4-3-3 from the off was energy sapping and with no pace up front. That was a real chance to rest White and Doran and fire in Storey and Todorov. The ridiculous early bookings also killed it. I am really not sure what the game plan was. Trafford and Carson also have to learn how not to be "gung-ho". We did deserve the scoreline. Hibs were not that great but we shot ourselves in the foot. The positive was that we gave 100% + until the end.

  29. This is harsh news to take. Bronson was one of the original Highland March crew and I'm not sure I'd have got through that first trek without his laughter and personality to help us through the tough bits. He had a heart of gold and I used to love his late night calls when he'd phone up three sheets to the wind with the latest joke he'd heard in a pub somewhere that night. My thoughts go out to all his family and close friends.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.

    • Inverness CT 2-1 Arbroath - Report
Smokies Kippered: On a blustery day more akin to AA Milne and Winnie the Pooh, Arbroath and Inverness battled it out to see who would get the final nails hammered into their coffins. Arbroath were in the last chance snug in the last chance saloon, whilst Inverness have one foot in the grave. I don't believe it! Arbroath tried everything, they even took their own wind with them. However, they had Murray, Bird and Slater on from the start but O'Brien missed out. Zak Delaney also started for the Red Lichties. A bright opening spell saw Alex Samuel denied twice inside five minutes. Once by a combination of Max Boruc and his crossbar, the second by Boruc on his own as Samuel got his shot away from inside the box. Wallace Duffy got the goal we deserved on the interval as he drove across the keeper from the right side of the box to put us in ahead at the break. Leighton McIntosh restored parity on the hour as he drilled home from eighteen yards, but Alex Samuel won the points with a late strike to all but relegate ten man Arbroath who had Ricky Little sent off.
