Anyone clued up enough to know whether Meekings can be retrospectively punished by the compliance officer?

I can handle having only Warren missing, but the thought of Meekings also being out fills me with dread!

Major props to Nick Ross for what seems to be him taking responsibility for the yellow card in an effort to clear Draper to make the final, whilst ruling himself out in the process.

If this is upheld ICT should complain To FIFA  or whatever

This is vindictive, but not that alone it will completely change the face of the game.

Every single time a referee gets it wrong in future a complaint  will be sent upstairs for review.

It is a recipe for mayhem. We will be leaving grounds  not knowing which players will be suspended should we or any other club have  decisions or non decisions  challenged.

Some reviews may include

I. e. " We feel that the throw in was a foul throw which led to the goal".  "We feel that the goal keeper handled outside the box",   The list of complaints may be endless . "Our player was in his own half when given offside",   Once this starts where will it end. That is why FIFA must be consulted.  I am sure somewhere in the Referees chart it states the Referee is in sole charge of the game and his decisions are final.

FIFA control international football they have no jurisdiction, then again, appealing to a body with no jurisdiction would be no more of a farce than the complaint being laid by the Compliance Officer in the first place...

Somebody somewhere must oversee national associations to make sure hearings of this sort are consistent throughout the game. If not anything could happen with no right of appeal other than the civil courts

For one thing is there not a rule about the restraint of trade. Will Meekings not have a case that his earnings are being affected by this  potential ruling which he could argue is based on professional vindictiveness of a rival organisation.

Americans recently had play off for the super bowl. Dallas had at least two decisions made for  them. Which no one in the game could understand. They were blatantly wrong Detroit were plainly robbed. If you do not follow American football Dallas are known as America's team.

Similar in stature to Celtic. Their opponents were Detroit who nobody cares about. This sort of thing happen in sport. As the Americans say " Nobody likes a sore loser "

Some of the abuse he has been getting on Twitter is horrible. Surely it should be McLean getting banned not Meekings.

About as angry about this as I was about efforts to keep The Rangers Newco in the SPL three and a bit years ago and with just as much legal, sporting and moral merit.

We need to make a stand on this and if Josh loses woe betide Scottish football.

Not totally unexpected in today's environment. Sadly at times like this is when you can see the nasty side of social media at its worst.

Surely this is just a bureaucratic exercise ? :rules02: There's no way that anyone could prove that Meekings deliberately handled the ball.....unless of course those that run Scottish football have now added mind-reading to their long list of talents !!

Flip this the other side, if this was a Caley goal denied by a Celtic handball it would be all forgotten about Monday morning.

If anyone is to be punished it's the officials, not Meekings.

It is hard to believe that a so-called professional organisation can get literally EVERY decision that they make wrong! From handling the Rangers affair to scheduling of cup matches to overturning (or not) refereeing decisions - they truly have an astonishing record. Even the selection of McLean to ref a Celtic match was a hostage to fortune. Now, in attempting to pander to a powerful member and to cover up for mistakes of officials, they have opened an even bigger can of worms and attracted even more ridicule.

Just grow a pair and stand up to the Grusome twosome with an unacceptable sense of entitlement. Disgusting.

I can't beleive this is happening. Makes me feel sick to my stomach. Disgusting!!!

Here's the apparent breach "Disciplinary Rule 200: In that at the above match you did deny the opposing team an obvious goal scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball"

As others have said, I can't see how intent can be proved in this case (remember, Cifci's assault was thrown out as "unproven") because he clearly tries to head the ball and has his eyes closed! As Yogi has intimated on the STV site - he'll drag up every possible case possible to show that there is no precedent for this. But this is the SFA....

Dundee United will be writing to the SFA every week if they lose to question decisions and with their lawyers will win the League next year. We do not need an artificial pitch next season if ALL results are to be decided by the Compliance Officer. We need to spend money on good lawyers.

Exactly ... intent cannot possibly be proven ... Josh and Griffiths were very close together, Josh was stretching his whole body ... all very quick in real time

Easy defence for Meekings - yes the ball hit his hand but his head was down, eyes not looking at the ball (possibly even closed) and no idea where the ball even is. Absolutely no way he could possibly be deliberately trying to block the ball which is what the SFA have prove.

Celtic fans forum. Disturbing reading. Gave up at page 15 of 81. The odd balanced view swamped by other paranoid, self-absorbed, disrespectful comments. Hope the SFA can surprise us and act impartially when the vast Ceptic hordes are spewing out their nonsense. Worrying that these "adults" have the vote.

Compliance Officer - we will be WATCHING to make sure YOU are WATCHING every blink , sniff , flick, scratch , feign, slip, trip,

kick, bounce, slap, push, pull, shove, slide YOU GET THE PICTURE !

This most likely what it is, take the heat off the refs for a few days, case gets cleared, and SFA can say they did all they could and can everyone now just get on with it.

Fifa's ruling re: the Henry handball a few years back. The second part should form part of our defence.

"FIFA's disciplinary committee said that they were powerless to punish the 1998 World Cup-winning striker because their rules forbade them to do so if the original misdemeanour had not been seen by the match officials."

"At its meeting on January 18, 2010, the disciplinary committee reached the conclusion that there was no legal foundation for the committee to consider the case because handling the ball cannot be regarded as a serious infringement as stipulated in article 77a) of the FIFA disciplinary code.

Sportsound saying Yogi's comments on the radio last night may have condemned Joss to be banned. Yogi said it was a hand ball and Josh should have been sent off.

Edited by Big G

BBC news reporting he could be banned for the final. Surely that can't be allowed?

Sportsound saying Yogi's comments on the radio last night may have condemned Joss to be banned. Yogi said it was a hand ball and Josh should have been sent off.

He didn't say it was deliberate, though.

This is my first comment for a long time but like everyone else on here can't believe this decision.

Just heard John Collins on news staing that if they had been given the decision they would have won

Says who John ??? It's like dealing with kids in the playground .Why do Celtic think they have the God

given right to win everything ?

I attend all home and away games and if this decision is not overturned God help the refs because I

can honestly say their are decisions missed at every game and this is going to open the floodgates

like they have never been opened before.

Now I think as fans we have all to get fully behind our team and give them all the support we can

because in the end of the day we are going to Hampden and Celtic are not.

The SFA have just proved what we all suspected how they don't want teams from the Highlands

In the League .

This is such a sad situation and Josh is not a nasty player it would be criminal if he misses the

biggest game of his career. With that in mind I would be more than happy to make a donation to

the Club to with the cost of this appeal .If anyone knows how this can be arranged please

advise .

Absoluel Lizi - ok so Meekings gets sent off and Esson saves the penalty. Second half and Gordon gets sent off and Tansey scores. 10 against 10. Bollicks

I keep hearing this 'if it'd been 11 v 11'nonsense...well it was 11v11 when they had a player sent off and it was still only 1-0 at that time. This argument that they'd have won is so arrogant it beggars belief.

I will be so pd off if we don't fight this all the way, it's an absolute disgrace that one club can dictate the way the game is run in this country.

It'd be good to get fans of every other club involved as well, there's a fair degree of outrage on all the forums I've looked at.

The sooner that lot ****** off down to England the better.
