We are the team that you all know, Caley, Thistle We are the team that you all know, Yogi's ICT Yogi's ICT, Yogi's ICT We are the team that you all know, Yogi's ICT. To this tune. I won't be giving up the day job!!
  2. There is a narcissistic "feel" - as is the case with most managers - but Yogi has a history of assuming the blame, apologising and shielding his players. That sets him apart from Butcher and he will not leave in similar circumstances. The Board actually appear to have done their homework this time and have opted for a manager who has played at a higher level and will earn respect from the present playing squad. He also has managerial experience and a degree of success which Butcher did not have. He is more brash and straight talking, lacks in the charisma and style stakes, but is a 110 per center. His flaws are that he appears to have experienced difficulty when taking over at clubs who are floundering but that evidently does not apply to us. He has more than the capability to continue to steer the ship on course. It is better to have a more experienced seefarer at the wheel. His main problem is that he is on a hiding to nothing. Keep the ship on course and many will say that the route was plotted anyway - steer off course and it will be his fault. Again that takes an individual with resolve to handle. IHE is proud to share the poop deck with Mr Hughes - and available fer a televised streak if necessitated.
  3. Fast closing in on 'Butcher offski', the highest ever, which at present has around 80,400 views. Those two threads are well ahead of any others. But of course, a load of Hibs fans viewed the 'offski' thread as opposed to few Alloa fans when Hartley was looking likely. This thread has had over 79,000 hits now. That's more than one view for every man, woman and child in Inverness! Although it's slightly distorted as Renegade and Yngwie account for 4,000 hits each!
  4. who would be a referee when players can now assault them and pretty much get off with it? i wonder how it would have panned out if the assistant smacked ciftci in the gob.

How about a real BIG " There's Only One Yogi Hughes" from the Main and North Stand at the next home game. Let's make the man feel wanted and show him real Highland hospitality!
  7. I disagree. I think the largest majority of people didn't really have any strong feelings one way or the other in regards to John Hughes (or any other manager) and were happy enough to place faith that Kenny Cameron and the board are the ones best placed to know who would be the best appointment. This forum has over 2600 active members and you can pretty much count on the fingers of both hands the number who were/are vehemently against the appointment. They are as entitled to their thoughts and opinions as everyone else...but just because they choose to post the same thing over and over does not (should not) mean they are any more significant than the thoughts and opinions of everyone else, even those who have chosen not to post on the subject. Two things of note.... 1. Many of the dissenters have only really become active posters again in the last few weeks. 2. The number of dissenters is not only a minority, it is largely insignificant.
  8. "Scotty, I wasn't slagging off the forum I was having a go at the folk on here who freak out whenever anything is posted which could in any way construed as critical of the club - they immediately close ranks and start greeting about it. I'm not having a go at the pro-yogi camp's right to voice their approval but they should dry their eyes when others voice their views which are every bit as valid as their's. I've made my position on this appointment abundantly clear and will leave it at that." It seems to me that posters fall broadly into three catagories; Firstly; Those who wanted John Hughes the as the new manager and are pleased with the appointment. I get the impression that these posters are in the minority. Secondly; those who emphatically don't want JH as the new manager and continue to express their disappointment. They too seem to be in a minority. Thirdly; those who were disappointed in the appointment and would have preferred another appointee but are now prepared to put their personal doubts and reservations aside now that the new man in place and give him their backing. It seems to me that this third group considerably outnumbers the other two. Nevertheless, all three standpoints are perfectly valid and make for the sort of healthy debate that is the very essence of a football fans website where, the odd troll apart, we all want the same ends but have different views on how to get there.
  9. 59 pages of varied debate and opinion on this topic alone would suggest the forum and its 'democracy' is not the issue. The issue - as always - is a difference of opinion, a difference of opinion that could not happen if your comments were correct. Sorry, but even after 20 years of existence, slagging off the forum still pushes my buttons on occasion. Confused,Who is the 35 year old you are referring to ? I believe that would be Richie Foran .... and yes, I could see him doing his badges in that time and being the next ICT manager. Oh dear, that'll be 50,000 press ups each then!

I wondered that too. The original "Yogi" was John Hughes of the Lisbon Lions. They called him Yogi because he was big, strong and a bit like a bear. Our manager is nicknamed "Yogi" simply because he has the same name as the original Yogi!

If that was the case, why did he bother to show interest in the job? Generally. people don't apply for jobs they've no intention of going to. I don't think Paul Hartley has resigned himself to his future management career being excluded to the central belt. If he got offered the Forest or Watford jobs, for example, he'd be off! That'll make us look like complete mugs. Paul Hartley is an ambitious manager. He's quoted as saying he wants to manage in the English Premiership, eventually. He wanted the Inverness job. But something blocked him from committing. Kenny Cameron is a chairman of high regard. He doesn't speak out of turn or shows his cards. But even he initially said we'd have the new guy in place by the Morton game. But things clearly took a turn. For a club who have revealed little or nothing during the recruitment process, it suggests an appointment was imminent. But the assumed appointment of Hartley didn't materialise. Something has gone wrong along the way for us to 'settle' for Hughes. I fail to understand this if the calibre of candidate was 'so high'! Let's be honest, if OTB had sacked Adams and appointed Hughes, we'd not suddenly be in awe and jealous or overly concerned that County had bagged the hottest property?! I guarantee we'd be mocking them. Our board usually makes good decisions but have also been guilty of getting it wrong. Appointing Brewster 2nd time shows they can be accused of completely choosing the wrong candidate. That's all I'm saying.

Yogi's the next Doctor Who! Everybody expected and wanted Peter Capaldi but they decided Yogi was a better choice.

Where is the evidence for this. If the team gets to a final, wins a cup and finishes top 6 again, why would Hughes want to dismantle the team. If he keeps this team together, then he has a really strong base to work from and his job is much more secure. Nobody can say what will happen if other bigger clubs come in for our players but that would happen whoever was in charge.
  18. I don't know if I would like Foran as assistant manager (Just yet anyways) The man said it himself on the YouTube channel that he is concentrating on his football and that's what I hope he does. As he has said previously, it's come too early for him. Duncan Shearer would be a good option but as has been said he doesn't like being in the limelight. Being an assistant would take most of it away but I think he would be more comfortable continuing in his role with the U20s. The key factor that Yogi has to take when deciding an assistant manager it needs to be firstly someone that Yogi himself gets along with but also someone who the fans would appreciate having along side him. I don't know what John Robertson and Yogi are like but that pairing would be a good match despite one being a Jambo and the other a Hibee. When I listened to Yogi and the question got asked on who his assistant manager would be, I was impressed with the answer that he gave back that he would take his time and consider the right guy (who may already be at the club)

Had a few hours to dwell on the news and have to admit, even after all the interviews and comments, I still think this decision is a ******* disaster. Until last night, this was the first SPL season we've had where it doesn't feel as if the squad will fall apart towards the end with pre contract signings and complacency kicking in, costing us a decent finish in the league. Hughes is exactly the man we need to come in and unsettle the players, throwing them off form and to eventually push them to the first paying clubs they can find when their time comes. I dearly hope I'm proved wrong, it wont be until over a years time will we will see the fallout from Hughes stamping his dim personality all over the squad to find out.
  23. I'm sure we will not have to wait too long for a psychological profile of Mr Hughes....
  24. Where's IHE this week? Quietly formulating his thoughts about the appointment of Hughes? Or has it sent him into complete meltdown?

Right.. i'd guess by your avatar that you are really a County fan? Anyway, your post(if serious) is the act of a spoilt 13 yr old posted just before you throw toys out of big pram! I would love us to stay 2nd and reach a final and I don't really care who does it, what you don't realise is that ICT are not a huge club and cant pay big wages, like some(maybe most) of these players we bring in are not on big money, rather very modest money in fact, and any that show promise will be off, likewise managers (as we have seen)if successful will be offski. We need a manager who wants to be here and wants to succeed, and Hughes has stated that he is delighted to be in Inverness and see's the team needing very little or no change, but like it or not we require a manager at the helm as Shearer is not keen to be there any longer. I'm giving him my support for sure, and if you are an ICT fan you will too.

  30. I can confirm. Beastie and myself had a very heated managerial debate in the pub on Saturday lol.
  31. ..and a translator for the non-scots in all the team. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when JH was being introduced to the players: Richie Foran: "........and tis is our number tree, Graeme Shinnie" John Hughes: "eh? Whit's a 'Number Tree'?" RF: "Eh?" JH: "Aw ye mean shree" RF: "No he's name's not Cheree, it's Graeme!" JH: "Eh?"
  32. Could Duncan Shearer be assistant and manager of the U20s? He certainly wouldn't be the worst choice.

CaleyThistle fans?? I can't believe what I am reading on here. A professional team selected him but of course the arm chair know alls are sure the team is incompetent . I agree that he will not have the name to attract some English players up here but... In my opinion, he will have a team of players prepared to run onto the park through shut doors for him. My only concern is the FORAN factor - let's hope they see eye to eye.
