  1. Best performance and result in the post Butcher era. The whole team played well. Williams had his best game to date even if he did fade a bit in the second half. Fantastic save from Brill who looked much more assured than of late. Tansey looked the part when he came on and the manager will have a real headache in deciding who to omit once all our midfielders are fit and free of suspension. Best of all was watching with Dons fans in hospitality where I failed to keep the broad grin off my face..
  2. Fantastic result against a team which I view to be the best in the rest of the league. I'm no fan of Hughes but even I have to say that was a very impressive showing so well done to him and the team. Our goal was very well taken. A quick counter attack down the right ended with Doran knocking a ball across the goal. Mckay stretched for it but only managed to get a faint touch on the ball which luckily found its way to Williams at the back post who lashed it into the net off the bar. Whilst Aberdeen had a number of chances they were all from set pieces and there were very few which were clear cut. ICT on the other hand seemed to be doing their best to try and keep the game close by not putting away the better chances which fell our way, particularly in the second half. Mckay and Shinnie passed up great chances to secure the game for us but Mckay pulled his shot wide after being played through, by Tansey I think, and Shinnie hit the bottom of the post with a lovely curling effort. Aberdeen were at their most threatening from corners with Robson getting some really dangerous balls in on top of Brill with the conditions making it really hard to deal with high, lofted balls. Vernon Crespo should have done better in the first and I think Considine or Anderson also had a good chance from a header as well. The defence was, at times, struggling to cope, and the midfield occasionally got over run but that can be expected with the players we have out. But the guys who did play today really put in a great shift (© John Hughes) and battled for every ball they could get near. Shinnie especially was fantastic in the middle of the park. MotM by an absolute mile with other great performances from Mckay and Williams who was a real live wire down the left hand side.Tait really struggled with him and had to be subbed off in the second half. Tansey and Vincent came on and both offered us a bit of freshness to carry the ball away from defence. Indeed it was Tansey who was setting up some of our chances late on with some clever balls in behind the Dons defence. It might be interesting to try him in behind Mckay once Foran and Draper return and take up the CM slots. All in all a great performance, despite some very nervy moments, and one that all of the ICT guys can be very proud of. Now for the long trip down to Killie...
  3. Fantastic result and performance in both attack and defence. You couldnt have written a better script. Yogi who has allegedly bombed takes his side to play the best team in the league next to Celtic and Danny Williams, a player under fire himself for not looking up to scratch scores a peach of a winner. I said it a few weeks ago that when you lose so many key players and require bit part lads to step up and dig deep then it can galvanize a team, today was a prime example of that. Im just so pleased as it seems we have finally turned a corner after a harsh winter. I really hope this is where we get back to our best. Hard to pick out a particular name. Shinnie showed all the qualities of a true leader, Devine was solid, Williams looked so dangerous at times, Tansey looked sharp when he got on, its no surprise that since Raven has returned our defence has improved dramatically, Deano picked out a stunning save while Polworth gave a good account in a vital game. Aberdeen for all their quality couldnt really break us down, they saw more of the ball but it was ourselves who had the better chances and were it not for a post and a bobble it could have easily been 2 or 3. Massive result, tremendous boost and a chance of another classic away day next week...John Hughes, you sir may rest easy tonight - On the Road with Yogi and Russ!
  4. Going by the club twitter feed, sounds like Williams is having a really good game - the lad deserves it!
  5. Hibs - normal service resumed - 0-3 down to St.Mirren

Well done Danny Williams. I thought he was one of our better players last week and a good display today just adds to his confidence. He is growing into Inverness Caledonian Thistle nicely
  7. I didn't think they would pick me up singing Miley Cyrus.
  8. Our starting line up had an average age of 23.7. United's was 26. Our full squad today had an average age of 23.3. United's was 24.2
  9. He should be in the scotland squad and it annoy's me when the pundits talk about how Scotland have no replacement LB's!

Paul Hartley has today resigned as manager of Alloa. Something in the pipeline I wonder ? With his Hearts connection and knowledge of the league they will be playing in next season, I wonder if he's being lined up to replace Gary Locke at Tynecastle. Certainly won't be out of work for long.
  11. Shinnie would normally be our first choice left back but when Raven was out he played right back with Tremarco coming in at left back and he did well. With Raven back and the midfield missing Vincent, Foran and Draper, he has played in the midfield, again with Tremarco at left back. It should not be too long before all the missing midfield trio are available for selection and with the signing of Tansey together with improved showings recently from Polworth, Watkins and Williams , competition for midfield places is going to be fierce. To be honest, whilst I have always been impressed with Shinnie going forward, he does, at times seem vulnerable at the back. Last week I felt he was our MOTM against Dundee Utd and by all accounts he was excellent today. Tremarco seems pretty able at left back and I just wonder whether Shinnie should be played in the midfield role because I think that is where he is at his best. Of course, when other players are available there is the question of who misses out. If Shinnie was to keep a midfield role, who would lose out? Foran has now had quite a long lay off and I just wonder whether he will be able to get back to the level he has played at previously. Certainly, Foran is never going to match Shinnie's work rate and I wonder if Shinnie should take over Foran's midfield role - and the captaincy. Thoughts?
  12. Call this the result of hysteria but I feel Yogi is gonna have a rather large selection head ache looming. Today's victory came without what many consider three of our best and most consistent performers! In defense Dave The Rave has played his way back into the right back spot, Warren deserves to come back in and rightly should. But at left back Tremarco has been good and doesn't deserve to get dropped. But nor does Shinnie (captain fantastic at the moment) he has been asked to fill in in a bunch of places and has done so with distinction at all times. But in midfield we will get foran, draper and vincent back and have now added Tansey in. Not to mention Polworth and Williams getting going as well. Doran, Ross and Watkins have been somewhat quiet of late so maybe this is where there will be some changes but they have all contributed mightily at different points. Not sure what I'm saying, just that I'd rather not have to choose who goes where. Over to you Yogi.
  13. I'm now feeling very optimistic about the rest of the season after today's win at Pittodrie, no more negativity from me as far as the strength and depth of ICT's squad is concerned given that we still have Draper/Foran/Warren to come back into the mix (An additional striker to would be great though!) nor any more negativity towards Yogi until the end of the season at least, he's now coming across as a decent guy and has not "rocked the boat" since taking over from Butcher indeed he's already given youth a chance to shine with both Polworth and Christie now seen as regular first team players (would Butcher have done the same, doubt it!). With Lattapy arriving next week there's a lot to be positive about and of course we have the semi-final to look forward to. It'll be no surprise if this is going to be ICT's most successful season ever! Oh I forgot were still in the Scottish Cup and almost guaranteed at least a place in the last eight! Been a season ticket holder since 94 and things have never looked so good for ICT so come on no more negativity on the message board until we know how the season pans out! (Worth a try I suppose!)
  14. No negativity at all. Even us Hughes sceptics are willing him to succeed and today is a sign he just might and with Latapy coming on board hopefully we will all be eating and relishing our humble pie soon.
  15. I suppose my overall reaction to the game was ..... bags of spirit/fight This however does not detract from the good football on show, right through the team and the ability to stay calm in possession was superb BUT not good for my health! If this is the managers doing ... all I can say is " what is the name of the English guy who left us and what is the name if his new team?" I do realise that this could be a one-off but let's not be negative tonight.
  16. Love it when we beat the Dons. Yogi still no my first choice but after todays result im eating humble pie and warming to him. League Cup anyone
  17. We will have the luxury of selecting horses for courses varying our selection according to the opposition as well as having cover for ongoing injuries and suspensions.
  18. Loved it! Off to my Aberdeen local now with my ICT gear on. Shinnie was absolutely immense today, simply incredible against two of the best CMs in the league. I was delighted to see him celebrate so much at the end as well. Tiny gripe... how slow and knackered did Evans look despite only coming on in the last few mins!?

Can't quite follow what he is doing back here--motive? Messi mentioned above as a comparison, sounded more like Messiah, And what part did Mr Hughes play in the move? What with Danny Williams and Polworth beginning to fit in moreso, things are really looking up.

But so long as the swearing was in English, Alba's viewers won't even understand it.
  21. Thought we were worth the 3 points by a country mile today when the score could and should have been even more. Cant wait to see Williams goal as i managed to miss it with no replays on my stream. Shinnie was outstanding today, the lad is class and came so close to bagging a goal he would have deserved. Defense were immense too, they didn't give Aberdeen a sniff and all i can remember is a couple of scrambles inside our box where they may have nicked something and there was Floods great volley. Just what the doctor ordered to kick start our euro push.
  22. Interesting to hear Willie Miller saying that he's changed his mind about Aberdeen being the second best team in the league after today. And that's without Warren, Draper and Foran!
  23. The best team won. The defence barely gave Aberdeen a sniff, we were first to every second ball and pressed them all over the park, something we hadn't been doing so well recently. Lots of composure on the ball and good passing moves. Tansey impressed when he came on and we were unlucky not to win by more IMO.
  24. what a shot from williams such a tight angle but he still managed to get it on target with so much power shame it was saved! I think he is after another and I would back him to do so.
  25. I was going to suggest that myself. I think Josh Magennis and Billy Mckay are mates so it might be a decent partnership. Josh can also play at right back which in an ideal world would be back up to David Raven rather than sticking Graeme Shinnie there. Just noticed that Magennis's contract is up at the end of the season, one way or another he will be getting pushed down the pecking order with Zola, Vernon and whoever they bring in over January contending for places... I hope Yogi is aware of this. Megennis would be a terrific signing. Aberdeen are now in the running for Rooney as well, seriously Magennis would be worth taking a chance on, perfect little and large strike force with Billy...
  26. I'm sure you could pass for 55, then it's only £19 return from Edinburgh. Just wear a bunnet.

Not so sure he will drop back to the bench. Might mean Foran on the left or centre, with Tansey and Draper in the deeper role. But then, there isn't really a first team, just a first team squad. You need a bunch of players all competing for a slot.

Tansey did underachieve but the majority of players did and we were only saved by the fact Dunfermiline couldn't win many games including hardly any at home and Hibs were drastic. But i agree with the post that suggests his style didn't fit in with our style for the time. Fast forward 12 months and we finished top 6 just missed out on europe and getting recognised slightly more by the media for our style of play. Had Tansey stayed then im sure he would have been far better suited which is why i think he will be shrewd piece of business . I think he will give us that extra bit composure and link up from midfield that has been lacking since foran got injured. Doran, Ross and whoever plays in behind Billy have had to drop deeper to get hold of the ball leaving billy more isolated. I just think Tansey can add that link up from deeper in midfield allowing our more creative forward thinking players to push up and support billy better. He may also play in behind billy but i think he is in to add more depth to the two deeper midfield positions.

Yes. He was clearly a talented young player with potential. He was maybe a bit over confident and perhaps not as good as he thought he was. He could maybe have worked a bit harder for the team but that was then and this is now. He is back because he chose to come back. He could have sat out his more lucrative contract with Stevenage where he was playing regularly. Young players mature and learn from past mistakes. He's only just back in the door. Give him a chance.
  30. I would encourage anyone who is still swithering to go and book. Its a great deal especially for youngsters. I look back with fond memories to our Scottish cup giant killing days, the camaraderie, the togetherness of our fans en masse and the belief that our team can take on anyone and win. Be part of the ICT bus convoy and be part of a good day out.

He wasn't rubbish when he played for us before. He was clearly talented but didn't produce on a regular enough basis. He was excellent from dead balls as well. I think he's a bit better on the ball than Draper and Foran and would possibly offer us something different in there. He's also more experienced than when he came, has played at a higher level and will know what to expect from the SPL. One interesting aside about this is Yogi signing someone who was brought in by the Butcher-Marsala dream team scouting ticket. I was told before the Hearts game that the tips for most of the guys we have brought in from England actually came from an agent and that Marsala's role was to scout them. You have to assume that this is the route that Tansey came from first time round and if we bring him in it suggests that we are still using that avenue for recruitment, which is a positive.
