  1. We decided to do this weeks video with Yogi a bit differently today by having myself and Iain Auld join him for a round the table chat. It's over 27 minutes long, but covers some of the topics being discussed on here recently....
  2. In the league Butcher oversaw a total of 11 games 7 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. 22 points from 33. Hughes has taken charge for 15 games league which have resulted in 4 wins, 5 draws and 6 losses. 17 points from 45.

Ryan christie was also bundled off the ball quite easily but IMO ibulking up is not the answer, If you do bulk up you slow down and then lose the fast part of your game. Both Ross and Christie are excellent players Polworth and Pepper also need more playing time. We are safe from relegation so there is no better chance to do this.

  5. Used my Season Tickets to collect 3 FREE tickets today. I've got one occasional fan coming along with two 'new' fans for the day! Three supporters who would otherwise have stayed away - lets all give it a go! I think this thread deserves more discussion than Should Hughes be Sacked.
  6. I wonder if Hughes's entire style is what the problem is. Under Terry Butcher, if we won but played badly, Butcher would give them a rollicking. I know that for a fact. Butcher ruled the players with an iron fist. The impression I get from Hughes is he's a bit more pally with them. I wonder if say last night, where we played alright on the whole but got beat, Hughes's team talk is somewhere along the lines of "Nevermind lads. You played alright." A pally manager can work, but not always and it's often circumstantial. I wonder if Hughes's approach has led to the players thinking "Oh well, we don't need to win anymore, just give it a good go." That's where problems start, as Aberdeen found out post-Ferguson. Hughes's teams have never been big goalscorers, not at this level anyway. I was speaking to someone who's interviewed Hughes quite a few times and he said to me that Hughes's Falkirk "was like watching a Barcelona that never scored goals." I think the true could soon be said for us. There's nothing wrong with keeping the ball, but there's a time to go a bit more direct - not necessarily long balls, but forward passes and getting the ball into the box. We all want to see passing football, but not for the sake of it, allowing the opposition to regain their positions and at times taking our own zip out of attacks. Under Butcher the players had a real drive a lot of the time to get forward and score goals. I don't seem to see that so much now. How good is Hughes's record compared to others? Is his record any better than the likes of Ian MacCall's, Ivan Golac's or Alex Smith's? Not particularly. In hindsight, should we have gone for Paul Hartley? Yes. If the board could go back in time, would they appoint Hartley instead? I wouldn't be surprised. Hughes is a man who applied for the Hamilton Accies job when Billy Reid left and failed to get it. Should Hughes be sacked? Of course not, certainly not for now anyway. While I think he may well benefit from the good signings of Butcher and Marsella, he needs to at least get some time to show what he can do and show us that he can get it right. If we really are looking poor, say a third of the way through next season, then that will be the time to make a decision and if he's doing so poorly that he needs punted, then that's what we should do. For now, he should be given time and he will no doubt get it. Despite this though, going from what we're seeing on the pitch and looking at his previous record, fans have the right to be concerned and be free to air their views without being labeled as "idiots" and other such terms. I thought the aim for this club was top six, cup finals and Europe. Now "happy clappers" are telling us that we all should just be happy with staying up. The worried ones are the ones who want the club to kick on. The ones who are easily pleased with just staying up, if anything, are the real negative ones. Only the manager and the immediate staff have changed - not the players who got us to second, yet people are now happy with just staying up and attack those who want to push on to bigger things. That's the type of attitude that'll get us nowhere.
  7. What I find most amazing is how so many posters only ever appear on the forums when the team have a few bad results. Given how that only happens a couple of times a season, then I'd judge that all in all the team are doing pretty well.
  8. Thanks for your post. If we all say no then nothing happens. If we all try a little bit then a little bit more turn up. If we all work at this then together we achieve. North stand fan your target is to get just an extra two in to the stadium thats all I ask of you. This is a test of fan power and to see what we can achieve if we all pull together.
  9. Probably your family trying to get out
  10. How can we compare an arrogant, selfish, two timing, NARCISSTIC English psychopath with a humble, working class, likeable Scottish plodder ? When the Messiah left all asundry waited for the exodus - does it not say summat that they are all still here and looking to stay ? Feck the statistics - Hughes was the only one "tough enuff" to fill the breach after the Narcissist. Hartley and his inexperience would have been shot at by now. And do not forget that Hughes had to wait an age to get Latapy on board - it is like Russell would say - ya have to chill man before the feckin high hits ya.
  11. Charlie is the better player for me, although Iain is probably the better manager.
  12. Good subtle one - call for his HEAD - as in the racket !!
  13. There is no Vs here. Should be &. Get them in the team for the rest of the season (a bit drastic I know) and they can get a wealth of experience that will serve us well next year as we will have a more 'experienced' squad to play with and will hopefully be less likely to suffer a second half dip as we have the past 3 seasons. We are safe in the top six. Don't have anywhere near the form to challenge Motherwell and Aberdeen so might as well use the rest of the season wisely. Plus our players are knackered at the moment, rotation really can't harm us. They both look they can be big parts of our future so the future might as well begin now. (also agree with others, would also like to see Ross back in the starting team)
  14. A good return! The Umpire strikes back!!
  15. I think Hughes will last a lot longer here than Butcher will at Hibs. Hibs have only won 1 of their last 11 and that includes being bundled out of the cup by Raith. If the Hibs Board are not considering getting rid of Butcher with that record then there is no way our Board will be getting rid of Hughes. If we are struggling after the first round of fixtures next season then it might be worth talking about. But before that, discussion should be about what the manager should do rather than whether he should be here at all.
  16. I knew you'd have another passing-shot at Mahonio, IHE! I hope this verbal rally doesn't descend into a volley of abuse! I overhead somewhere that you do like taking centre-court in these debates and enjoy the proverbial 'minutes of fame' - but we all love-fifteen!
  17. What the deuce is Mahonio playing at ? Is there a point to this thread ? He is treading a thin line. It is just not tennis. He is taking advantage of other posters. And he has been forced to trawl the net elsewhere although some would say that is ACE. He is double serving expletives and they are not back-handed compliments. Can we still love him or should we Grand Slam him? And the only thing he has got in common with Wimbledon is that he is a feckin Womble.
  18. How many of those are you?
  19. Or could we be sitting her out of the top 6 and having been beaten by Hearts? If, buts and maybes. We were poor before Yogi took over and it has sadly continued. There have been glimpses of some fine football but serious lack of cutting edge is killing us. We need one of these free transfers he spoke about, preferably a striker to take the weight for Billy's shoulders. At the end of the day it is a results game. If you don't get them then you are out. We have a history of giving managers time and Yogi will be no different. Just think, we could easily have sacked Butcher at least twice!

I wonder if they still got 40,000 along to those games?
  21. 3500 would be a really good attendance IMO Hopefully the discounted tickets will entice a few more to attend but I doubt it will have much difference although I will be delighted if I'm proved wrong I think it's a good gesture by the club though so fair play it will be very interesting to hear the attendance being announced on Saturday Dougal
  22. Passing back to the goalie? Shudder. As many of you will by now know, I can't stand that and the full backs passing sideways to each other either. It sends a terrible message to the opposing team that we have run out of ideas, or are afraid to take responsibility for making a pass forward .Back and forth,. Back and forth.... This seemed to be a fixture at Vancouver Whitecaps last season and where did they end up?----nowhere. HEh! Guys! the goal is down that end, not backwards. If attack is the best form of defence then let's get the ball down the park.
  23. Is there an ignore thread function on here?
  24. 4 pages in just over a day? Get a life people...
  25. I was one of the 53. Hughes is very much trying to drum this passing philosophy onto the players and there's nothing wrong with that, but we seem to be passing it for the sake of it now. Even at 2-0 down we were passing around the defence and back to the keeper, when we really need to get the ball forward and we still seem to run out of ideas in the final third and attempt to pass the ball into the net. Ryan Christie was very very impressive as others have said. I think he'll be our Andrew Shinnie talisman-in-the-hole player very soon indeed.
  26. Seeing how we all had a successful gathering last weekend and also had a fantastic support from out with Inverness. I was wondering if a few fans had thought of getting together to form a supporters group from different regions, It would look pretty cool seeing all the different flags on display at the games. I think they would be surprised how many fans there are in their area and could perhaps organise transport to matches, or have a mini get together, give them selves a name and an identity and get yourself a flag. For example the ICT Vikings from the North. ICT Aberdeen, Moray, Strathspey, ICT Loch Ness and Im sure that ICT have a few extra admirers in the Invermorriston area from the generosity of a certain fan, ICT are all well supported in these areas, Im sure there are plenty others too, even Chorley has a supporters club. Lets make our 20th season a great one.
  27. You tease...getting our hopes up that you weren't going to be back and then posting again.
  28. I'm sick of the lot of you, you are all sacked.
  29. I really do think that ICT and John Hughes do have the potential to be a perfect match for each other. The way the club and fans think and Hughes honesty and philosophy - it's all potentially there. I'm not saying I think this will happen tho. And I'm not happy with our league results of late as are the majority of fans. However it's too early to be calling for a replacement to be found. Anyone who thinks getting rid now would be a good thing should maybe take a wee lie down. Perhaps pour a large brandy or have a wee rummage with themselves and see if they feel a bit better after.
  30. Well I suppose the neggie folk on here have handed the BBC, on Saturday afternoon, the opinion that Mr Hughes is now under pressure re his position at ICT. How on earth do so called 'fans' allow other team supporters such ammunition as this will manifest itself as " sacked in the morning" chants each time we come under pressure in a game. I'm sure this will instill lots of confidence in the players with this chant ringing in their ears. Sad indeed!
  31. There is a LOT of resentment and negativity towards ICT in the Inverness area. I have my own theories as to why....but its old ground, but it certainly has a bearing on the p1ss poor crowds we see at ICT games to this day!
  32. Sacking the manager is not the right option at this time. Yogi is a very likeable, enthusiastic, fun character and I can see why the board were keen to give him the job. My main concern as highlighted in the Motherwell thread is his lack of tactical awareness and understanding of our players strengths and weaknesses. We are not and will not become an elegant team with the capabilities of ball retention. We need to get the ball forward quickly and play in the final third - this is not John Hughes' style i'm afraid and this makes me very worried. He'll retain my support until the chairman and board decide they want change. I support our club as a collective group of individuals, not just individuals. #togetherNESS

While watching the match last night, Alternative Maryhill turned to me and said we should be building a team around him. I agree completely. Why we have talented players like Christie and Ross on the bench each week and not in the starting XI is beyond me.
  34. For a team that can't buy a goal and has become so shaky in defence sixth place is not out of the question which, whatever the view of the happy clappers, I find disappointing from the position of being clear in second well into the season. The one bright positive from the last two games has been the potential shown by Ryan Christie on the big stage. There has been good news on players' contracts in recent months, maybe the best news of all would be to get this young man secured on a three year deal.
  35. For a team that can only take 7,000 to a cup final top flight managers are not queueing up for the job we are in the top six a having our best season ever . Some people on here need a reality check.
  36. threads like these make me realise why I try and avoid this forum as much as possible

Far too much tippy tappy stuff. We keep playing ourselves into trouble with hospital passes to men under pressure. Style over substance. Shades of Alex Smith. Central midfielders coming too deep. Forward players too isolated. When we lose possession we sit deep rather than press the opposition into mistakes. Our finishing is awful, our set pieces are awful, our crossing is awful. Players seem sluggish and robotic in possession in contrast to the free flowing, sharpness earlier in the season. (overcoaching perhaps?)

Billy is having to work too hard as he is isolated and much of his chances are half chances. Lets get back to the counter attacking football which made Doran top of the assists league at one point and gave billy better chances to score.
  40. Enough of the over-reactions to every single bad result already. You're acting like Old Firm fans.
