  1. In terms of league position our last 2 seasons have been our best 2 seasons ever and we have Terry Butcher to thank for that. On a very limited budget he and his management team did an excellent job in finding latent talent and fashioning them into a team that could compete well in the top half of the SP(F)L. The sad thing both for the club and himself personally is that both seasons could have been better still. Both seasons saw us riding high in the league before Butcher decided he would capitalise on the success and head off to bigger clubs. Last year the aftermath of the Barnsley fiasco resulted in a significant drop in form when the players realised that despite all his praise about the loyalty of the players, the manager had no loyalty at all and was keen to leave. This year Butcher renaged on his commitment to the club and left and his successor has been unable to maintain the early season form. I am convinced that without the Barnsley fiasco we would have captured a European place last year and despite both Aberdeen and Dundee Utd being stronger this year, with the start we had, we could have finished higher and perhaps gone one better in the cups. As SP points out, had Butcher had faith in the team he had fashioned and gone on to win a European placing or a cup with ICT then his own stock would have risen immensley and he could have attracted a bigger salary elsewhere. But we've won nothing and he's won nothing. We are a small club and may never have such a good chance of success at the top level of Scottish football again. The Rangers, Hibs and Hearts will all return stronger in the next few years and it will be harder than ever to make that breakthrough. There is a feeling the Butcher took the team to the brink of that success but then snatched it away from us in order to satisfy his short term financial greed. The success of the last 2 seasons is a bittersweet success because we know that it could and should have been better. In denying us success, he has also denied himself success. The irony is that whilst the club has still enjoyed relative success, his opportunity for success may well morph into abject failure and leave his career in ruins. If so, he only has himself to blame and will get no sympathy from me.

  2. I support the team so buying a season ticket makes sense regardless of who is in charge or how we are playing. Other than for financial reasons I don't see why anyone would just give up on going along and supporting the team.

  3. Well I'm renewing despite living in England as the half a dozen home games I make it to will pay for it, plus it's my way of putting money into the club. Also know my Father is getting one for the first time ever for next season. I've made my opinion thus far on JH's tenure abundantly clear, but I've also always stated I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and we go on to another top six finish next season. That being said managers, players, board members, tea ladies all come and go but the club remains not going because you don't like the manager or the brand of pie is a bit petty IMO.

  4. I'm not sure we can criticise TB for going anywhere for more money because money is the fact of life that we all have to deal with in our progress through life. And so trying to better yourself and family is not a sin. BUT..... The negativity of his move is in the apparently underhand way that he did it. End of story. IMHO, in retrospect, he would have been much more prudent had he stayed and our team had been much higher up the league at which time his reputation would have soared and he could have left with his head held high--and, in the process, probably given his future tenure at another club a more extended run than he will now have. Then he could have left , in consultation with our management of his plans BEFORE he moved, not after and left with good wishes ringing in his ears. Right now I doubt if he will be sacked this season but next season will be a real test for him and his henchmen. And it could be his Armageddon...not only at Hibernian F.C but his career as a manager of any club of note.

  5. Finish with a flourish This Sunday sees the last game of a traumatic season being played at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium with 5th place up for grabs and the £80,000 that goes with it. Our rivals for that place are St Johnstone and it's them that pay us a visit early on Sunday afternoon. For Inverness a draw will be enough to secure the money, for Perth, nothing but a win will be sufficient to climb above us. The finale to the season has been something of an anti-climax for Inverness since the league cup final with only two wins since that day, and those were against struggling bottom six clubs Ross County and Partick Thistle. Over the same period the Perth club have totalled five wins, beating Dundee United twice and a sparkling Scottish Cup semi-final triumph over Aberdeen. Our last game saw Motherwell hold on for a 2-1 win in midweek. Inverness were somewhat overgenerous in the first half and presented Motherwell with a two goal cushion at the break. Graeme Shinnie's deflected effort gave us some hope and despite creating the better chances in the second half we failed to level the game, and with defeat, our chances to climb to fourth in the league ended. St Johnstone fared better against a Celtic X1 in a see-saw game that ended all square with the sides sharing six goals. One disappointment for Tommy Wright was an injury to hot-shot Stevie May and he will be assessed before Sunday's game. The Perth side have bigger fish to fry in a weeks time when they take on Tayside rivals Dundee United in the Scottish Cup final and Stevie May will be crucial to St Johnstone's hopes of winning the cup. It's made for him surely. He wears No 17. The games on the 17th, it's an omen I tell you. In the three meetings this season, Inverness have come out on top twice by single goal victories. The first game though saw St Johnstone thump us 4-0. May, Mackay and Maclean (twice) scoring the goals that knocked Inverness off the top of the Premiership. At the turn of the year, Inverness were eight points ahead of the Saints. The points gap is now down to one. Our quest to play like Barca has not always had the desired effect and has in fact contributed to a number of squeaky bum moments where we end up rushing pass backs and clearances as the opposition suss out our ball retention tactics. This has resulted in at least half a dozen freebies for our opponents, Dundee United being particular benefactors on a few occasions where Brill and the defence fell short with pass backs and clearances. Yogi's determination to see this through has not gone down well in some quarters but on the other hand I saw no complaints when we beat Ross County twice in Dingwall. Those games were played with a bit more swashbuckle and panache. Let's see a bit more of that and see if we can finish with a flourish. Swashbuckle and panache.................sounds like a dodgy firm of solicitors. Inverness defender Josh Meekings and captain Richie Foran remain out through injury. St Johnstone striker Stevie May and defender Gary Miller face late fitness tests after picking up knocks against Celtic although they are not as seriously injured as originally feared. Tam Scobbie and midfielder Murray Davidson remain out. tm4tj prediction:- The season is dying on it's feet now and despite a fantastic start to the campaign and great cup runs it's all gone a bit flat as speculation surrounding the squad and management suitabilities abound. Still, it could be worse. Look at the village pub team from Dingwall just managing to stave off a relegation play off game thanks to the haplessness of Terry Butcher's Hibernian. You couldn't script this could you! As for our own game, maybe a scoring draw to keep everybody happy. 1-1. We have our annual nutters out walking and cycling across Scotland and they will make the stadium before kick off having marched/cycled around 160miles from Motherwell..........as I said, nutters. To end the season on a more poignant note, and put all of this season into perspective. It was with great sadness that the announcement of the passing of Elena Baltacha was met at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Johnstone FC. Bally sadly passed away after battling liver cancer at the tender age of 30. She had reached the top of her chosen sport of tennis and was British number 1 for three years. The link of course with both clubs was her father, former USSR international footballer Sergei Baltacha who played for St Johnstone making 90 appearances before moving to Inverness Caley in the Highland league and then when Inverness Caledonian Thistle came to fuition, Sergei was the first manager of the newly formed club. Rest in Peace Bally, our thoughts go out to your family and friends.

  6. I'm renewing mine because its my team good or bad much like Fraz. Can't understand a boycott for "football philosophy" reasons? But then I've lost some season ticket companions along the way because of TB style of football (i.e. some people on here need to remember the bad old years not the glory months). Some interesting comment from Caley D on the SPL/Sevco season ticket boycott. I know I withheld my season ticket money as my only way of influencing voting decisions on an SPL stitch up but once club intentions were declared I responded in good faith and parted with my season cash but I was so scunnered at the time by the corporate scullduggery, it was not an empty threat. I definitely boycotted a renewal and felt very strongly about the issue at the time and the wee bit of noise I was trying to make was real. Was i the only one sticking to my guns and protesting by not paying up . Anyway no reason not to renew this year unless Hamilton get voted out for having a plastic pitch!

  7. I'll be renewing and getting one for my daughter means a move to the family section so I'll lose my normal seat sadly. It'll actually work out cheaper! £240 is excellent value for two season tickets imo. Works out at around £12.60 a game. ETA- I think it's quite sad that some are considering not coming back after what's arguably been our most successful 2 seasons. Folk at the club must despair.

  8. Coventry: surprise sacking after doing so well Sunderland: uninspired Motherwell: terrific but left for greed Sydney: rubbish Brentford: rubbish ICT: terrific but left for greed Hibs: rubbish The guy would have given up that blood soaked English patriotism if Germany offered a couple of Euros more. No sense of loyalty. I've a fraction of Tel's cash but learnt a long time ago a few bawbees means nothing when it comes to job satisfaction. How many times can a man waste his opportunity for long term success.

  9. I think it's sad that folk are consideing not renewing. Obviously a personal choice but I do feel some may have unreal expectations of what a club of our size can achieve and sustain. Less money can't possibly help can it?

  13. To my recollection, the club have never released season ticket sales numbers...and it's the same with many other clubs. Not sure how/why it would/should influence a persons decision on whether to buy one or not either. We had a situation with the League Cup Final where I was getting phone calls and emails several times a day from press/media asking if the club were going to release a figure...and the only reason we could fathom for the interest was because they wanted to use it as a stick with which to hit the club by drawing comparisons on supporter numbers between ourself and Aberdeen. We have this obsession in Scotland with crowd sizes and supporter numbers...and using them as a tool to deride the opposition...that I don't see anywhere else. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying people should have no interest in the subject but the important thing is what the club is doing to try and promote season ticket sales and releasing numbers, IMO, isn't a required part of that equation. Whether numbers are up or down doesn't matter, we should all be focusing on what we can do (individually & together) to make them even better. The discussion on whether the club are doing the enough or doing the right things comes up regularly, especially around this time of year and generally ends up caught in an infinite loop of people shouting that prices need to be reduced and a counter argument that reducing prices doesn't increase numbers sufficiently to counter the lost revenue from such a reduction. Personally, I think it's pretty remarkable that despite ever increasing costs and reduced league/cup income the club have managed to freeze prices and maintain the free kids tickets. The club may be wrong and there might be a case for releasing numbers which goes beyond satisfying curiosity and giving lazy journalists info which would be used to construct what amounts to little more than unhelpful non-stories. Would be interested in hearing that case if it exists. FWiW...I'm not privy to the numbers either and tend to try and avoid having such info (or any info I don't need to allow me to do what I do for the club). That way, the finger of blame can never be pointed in my direction if there's a leak...lol.

  14. In all fairness I too have my concerns and doubts about how things will pan out. However that's not much different from many other seasons and I hope that my fears are allayed. I buy my ticket to support my team and hope that the players and management do the best they can. We have done excellent to have 2 top 6 finishes and our first major cup final. I hope we can continue in that vein, however if things slip a little I won't be massively surprised there will always be highs and lows that's part of football and supporting your team, we are probably the worst supported team and (therefore) have probably the lowest budget in the league that's going to affect things in the big picture.

  15. Before I commit to buying another ST, I would like to hear what investment ( players/ vision) the board are willing to commit to. With a couple of decent cup runs and top 6 agian, we must have some cash to plough back into the club. I'm always putting my hand in my pocket, what about those at the top?

  18. Some people would rather see the team do poorly to prove their opinions right than risk ever having to accept they were wrong...on that basis, withdrawing support (financial and otherwise) only helps protect their own position....and when the club continues to thrive regardless, they can just disappear from the forums for a while and hope it's forgotten.

  19. Another revolution of Terry's that has ended in tears. His short sighted greed has disrupted not one but two teams seasons and if they go down...which is a distinct possibility given that they will be coming against a team beaming with confidence.

  24. Freezing prices for the 4th (?) season in a row is fantastic. Any rise in prices runs the risk of reducing the number of tickets sold. Hopefully they get the same numbers as this season if not more given the League Cup run and people do as much as they can to encourage others to sign up rather than continue to look for negatives in everything like some people on this forum.

  25. You can "demand" as much as you like, but as you prefer to explode in public please tell everyone else how many times you have actually complained about a post in the normal manner that everyone else does ... ie by reporting it. No? Its a simple answer. NONE. The last time you didn't complain, a mod actually spotted a comment and did it on your behalf. We removed the post and banned the other person from the thread. So you are going to let IHE get off, nice work, he is just going to post more abuse, how can he get away with that ffs and I don't keep my PMs, I delete them after reading them. I am actually disgusted at this action re IHE!! Scarlet isn't letting anyone off. What do you expect him to do as a member of the site just like you? He is not a mod and cannot react to your demands for a ban. I ask again - How many times have you used the mechanism that has been in place on the site for nearly 20 years - regardless of which software we have used at the time - to make your complaint ? If the answer is "less than 1" then you do not have any cause for complaint. Really ? You really are pathetic IMO should we let you away with this in the same way as IHE ... after all he has not complained either (never does actually - he dishes it out and takes it in equal measure). Nothing wrong with this post from Davie, but as you clearly have a specific opinion about those who own and/or operate this site from myself to the mods and to posters who have been around for the 20 years we have been in existence, then it seems fitting that the last word on your comments go to someone who is just a "normal" poster like yourself. I am going to make a final comment on this thread about the "abuse" and "topic hijacking" that seems to becoming prevalent from a number of posters on multiple threads. It is directed at no-one in particular and everyone in general. I am sick of it and I dont have time or inclination to be a babysitter to grown adults (or near adults in some cases) who cant or wont behave when they get behind a keyboard. My 9 month old kid is better behaved than this. My tolerance level for all the bullshit being displayed in the recent weeks is now close to zero and as we approach the 'silly season' with no games and (traditionally) much more antagonism shown, I will be asking the moderators to deal with people who drag threads away from the topic in question for their own petty squabbles. If you hijack a topic - you are going to get banned from it. simple. Topic "drift" is inevitable, but hijacking. not acceptable. If you hijack multiple topics - you are going to get "post moderation". simple If you get reinstated and go back to the old behaviour - you are gone from the site. simple. If you "abuse" other posters and we receive and uphold a complaint you will get warning points appropriate to the incident. This may include banning from threads or post moderation. If you repeat the same behaviour and we receive and uphold more complaints you may end up banned (permanent). if you cause the operators of the site too much work for no good reason you may end up banned (permanent). Banning is our last resort and contrary to popular belief of some we don't do a lot of it. We will remove or restrict privileges on accounts first and only ban as a last resort. I don't have the time to mollycoddle sensitive souls or act as some sort of counsellor. Cause us grief or waste our time and you are gone. All the users on this site and the volunteers who act as mods have far more important things to occupy thier time than the current level of bullshit.

Administration pending, unless... How can we go from SupercaleygoballisticCelticareatrocious in the year 2000, to Scottish Cup Winners in 2015, playing in Europe and just 9 years after lifting the Cup; Administration. Mismanagement and our demise was hastened by the appointment of Scot Gardiner. Ever since then, ludicrous decision making has seen our stock plummet whilst 'shady' dealings were investigated. The failed Concert Company, the Battery Storage, the Statkraft contract have all ended badly leaving the club facing insolvency.

That's another fine mess you've got us into.

      Chairman Ross Morrison resigns

Nothing official from the club as we speak, but the Inverness Courier are running with a story that Ross Morrison has resigned at 18:00 tonight 3rd June.  More to come as this story develops, but most fans are looking for more heads to roll.

Speaking exclusively to The Inverness Courier, Mr Morrison said he is leaving now because of the aftermath of the Fife move. “I believe it [the move to Fife] is the best way forward and I have to stick with my beliefs,” Mr Morrison said. “This is the reason I'm stepping down now.”

Reflecting on his time with the Caley Thistle, Mr Morrison said: “My six-year tenure with the club has had some great and some not so great times but through everything I was immensely proud to be the chairman of the club and clubs I’ve supported for 50 years - I was a Jaggie by the way.

“I would ask the fans to rally round the club at this time and show their support by not only purchasing their season tickets but also getting involved directly with the club to see how they can help.

“Hearing fans saying they would prefer administration to training the first team in Kelty sent a shiver down my spine. Administration is a desperate thing to happen to a club and must, at all cost, not happen to ICTFC.”
