  1. As a debut. it is hardly "To Kill a Mockingbird"
  2. Going to call Birmingham in the afternoon and pretend to be John Hughes so we can get him signed for ICT.
  3. I don't understand the rationale behind 'winter breaks'. We simply can't predict when the worst of the winter weather's going to be. We're currently in the middle of winter and the temperature today in Inverness is a balmy 12 C ! If the weather's favourable, you can play your game - if a pitch is frozen or snowbound, it'll be postponed - and you'll then get effectively a two-week 'break' by default! But aside from all that, why are the SPFL planning a winter break for the Premiership clubs only? If it can be assumed the 'break' is due to the likelihood of bad weather, then why are the Championship, League One and League Two clubs expected to play? These Leagues actually have fewer fixtures to fulfil anyway- and the majority of their clubs don't have under soil heating! Yet they're expected to 'soldier on' while the Premiership clubs, who have more 'chance' of getting games 'on', sit idle! For me, it just defies logic!!

Fon Williams Raven Warren Devine Williams Draper Tansey Mutombo Polworth Roberts Storey Subs - Esson, Foran, Tremarco, Vigurs, Wedderburn, Sutherland, MacRae Time to drop the lacklustre Vigurs for Polworth as well as giving the team some much needed width, especially down the left with Roberts with Williams as the overlapping wing back.

You might throw your flask and hurt someone. I remember us going to see the proclaimers at whin park and having to bin a £6 foundation/vanity mirror, in case my partner, smashed up the mirror and use it as a weapon. Some people have got a vivid imagination
  6. Are you saying we don't have a shrewd manager with useful contacts? Any manager no matter how shrewd with the best of contacts needs MONEY! so let's not put all the blame on our manager
  7. As well as being a club stalwart who was instrumental in securing SPL football for us in the first place, he is developing into a very competent summariser. I know that you leap to the defence of the manager and his tactics come what may but he has a very valid point and Saturday's poor and uninspiring fare was a prime example of it. Two questions; Do you not think that Barry is better placed to comment on the style of play being at the stadium week after week than you are sitting at home listening on the radio and posting snide comments on the match day thread ? Secondly, why on earth would the player who was so fond of the club that he came back for a second spell and dropped down a division and took a salary cut into the bargain have cause for 'sour grapes' ? Did Barry once steal your parking space ?

A pie and a bovril is very much part of the matchday experience and it has been for generations of fans and long may it continue. Doesn't surprise me the likes of Bannerman can't get his head round it but when your munching your way through free sandwiches and guzzling cappuccinos he never will Our neighbours seem to have the right idea using a local baker for their pies, you only have to look at threads on P&B to see how highly they are rated by away fans travelling north Dougal

I was in Browns the butcher in Nairn today getting some Haggis and was chatting to the owner who's a County fan unfortunately as he's from the Black Isle and we were chatting about the food at both venues and obv he reckons County's are streets better than ours. He said a couple of days notice is all it takes to turn out the number required I don't think the numbers are the issue. He actually gave me an individual steak pie to try for free which was nice of him and all I can say is that if anyone here lives in Nairn you are so lucky I've never tasted one as good ever I took a pic so I'll try and post it. No idea about the price but man it was so good I'll definitely be going back the freebie is going to end up costing that's for sure
  10. Bummer, I thought I had ordered a book on Hurling Piro and instead I got a book about a Belgian detective with a dodgy moustache.
  11. 'We are the Highlands' 'No Giro no Party'
  12. No one laughed at that joke the first time. Give up.
  13. While not many teams have money for transfers, plenty have money to pay better wages than we can to get players,
  14. Renegade, I would if I could but as I have said previously circumstances prevent me from doing so. Incidentally I have enjoyed every game I have watched. Yes I could criticise on occasion but maybe I have just been lucky, the positives have outweighed the negatives and if you analyse the probabilities you can understand why there have been negatives.
  15. Perhaps Wilson is being 'negative' because what he is watching is negative, dull, repetitive, stale football. To try dress up as if being other than that would be dishonest and unprofessional. No 'sour grapes', just facts. Give me the truth over a silly ultra-positive fairy story just for the sake of it, any day of the week. If you don't like the radio coverage, maybe make your way to the Caley Stadium every other weekend and see for yourself...

  17. Winter break = opportunity for celtic to play overseas money spinning games, just a coincidence that rangers look fairly certain to return to the spfl in time for this. But thinking that is cynical its got to be about player and fan travel safety doesnt it?
  18. Welcome to the wacky world of Scottish football!
  19. As we are still in the top six I agree with you Kingsmills if we are to catch those above us we do.
  20. It is fair for Yogi to bemoan the loss of players like roberts and Doran to injury and Christie to Celtic. HOWEVER, the complaint only hold water if, when these players are available, he plays them! Doran rarely got a start under JH and Roberts is keeping the bench warm - is it just that he doesn't actually value width and creativity? Further fuel to this fire was his public denouncement of Mutombo's "showboating": one man's showboating is another's creativity and attempt to actually beat an oppentn with skill. I'm no supporter of flash for the sake of it, but I crave seeing an ICT player skinning a defender with skill and/or pace this season - the message seems to be that these tactics are banned in preference for passing a team to death??
  21. I think that the "better" teams try to play football from the off, which suits our style of play. Against the other teams we have to earn the right to play football, and we are not capable of doing that. Also, the "poorer" sides are more defensive, and we lack the movement or width to get through them. Having said all that, that is 2 more points from Partick than we managed last season!
  22. I actually see where Bughtmaster is coming from as many times when I have heard Barry Wilson (one of my all time faves) on the radio he does seem rather negative towards us about crowd size etc and rarely seems to promote us. Maybe with his business being in Dingwall he's being a bit cagey. Though there wasn't a lot to be positive about on Saturday unless you were one of the half time draw winners
  23. To pick a best performer is difficult as nobody has been consistent to date, due to injuries or just poor form. Warren since return from injury has been solid at the back and Fon Williams has performed well although is still think his distribution is questionaable - long punts loosing possession regularly needs improvement. I think Danny Williams has done ok in the roles he is given, but do feel he would give more further up the field and playing him at LB is stiffiling what he can contribute. Tansey has found form and in some games if you watch his passing its pin point across field whit accuracy that would be lauded if he was at a bigger club, but he started poorly this season, as did Draper. Polworth is the most improved and has been getting better but still needs to work on his control, distribution and consistency. Storey has worked tirelessly up front and over the last few weeks has become a more isolated figure than ever as we seem to be getting more and more negative in play. On balance its between OFW, Storey & Tansey so far, but whats easier is the list of those who need to really up their game.

£2.20 for a cup of tea from the pie van I still paid it
  25. Here are some more stats to add into the mix, inspired by this comment from the Partick thread. Here are our points out of the possible achievable against each team so far: Celtic 0/6 Aberdeen 4/6 Hearts 3/3 County 6/6 St J 1/6 Dundee 2/6 Partick 2/9 Motherwell 3/6 Hamilton 3/6 Killie 3/9 D Utd 2/6 Now, splitting this into performance v Top6 and Bottom 6: Top 6: 14/27, achieving a very credible 52% of points available Bottom 6: 15/42, a mere 36%. This would appear pretty consistent with what PerfICT shows earlier in this thread, whereby the more possession we have, the fewer goals we score and the less likely we are to win. It also reiterates the importance of getting into the top 6, because given our apparent inability to beat the poorer sides, 5 post-split games against those sides and you can see how we might easily slip into serious relegation contention - unless something changes or we adapt our tactics against weaker sides. Hmm.
  26. Looked like new faces to me. Some of them very young. Did a great job yesterday.
  27. Dreadful stuff. I'm beginning to wonder if this Roberts chap is actually a footballer. If he and Foran are fit enough get them on the park. If they are not fit enough then get them off the bench. Mr Vigurs was a luxury today that we can ill afford. Dress it up any way you want Mr Management, but it's clear on here that not many fans are excited at the prospect of going to watch the Scottish Cup Champions ply their trade in the Premiership.
  28. The exact same question could be asked about your experience/knowledge prior to 1994 Regardless football has become a lot less enjoyable in modern times, no longer the working mans game the middle class moved in and the game is slowly dying Dougal
  29. The whole point of the possession game is to physically and mentally tire your opponents as they're pulled from pillar to post trying to win the ball back. It doesn't work if the opposition sit back and let you knock it around in front of them. Particks defensive players won't have a much easier afternoon than they did today. We didn't stretch them at all. To quote one of the tactical masterminds of 'tiki taka', Johan Cruyff, "When you get the ball, you make the pitch big. When you lose the ball, you make the pitch small." We're doing the opposite! When we start a move everyone drops deep and runs back towards the man in possession. Our shape is too compact and narrow. There's a chronic lack of space, movement or options for the man on the ball. Little wonder our moves go nowhere and precious few chances are created. At times today our half was more congested than the proverbial 'Sauchiehall Street on a Saturday night'. Hardly a recipe for free flowing football or individual flair. The players are grafting hard but the gameplan isn't working. All in all a dreadful game of football.

Has anyone ever thought of going to Harry Gow and asking if they could even supply the numbers we'd need each other week as well as on short notice for cup replays etc. How many do we consume on an average home day. 1500. Thats a lot of additional pies and a lot of additional staff needed on an irregular basis. Could they meet the demand?
  31. Great news and a positive but he wasnt out of contract this season and isnt a deal id have wanted focus on right now. Lets hope he acts as a catalyst for others to sign now.
  32. Again that was a smoke bomb at Stirling not a flare. And are we being dramatic much? What could have gone wrong? How many people are injured by smoke bombs annually? Your more likely to be injured from a football hitting you.
  33. I wasn't surprised by Sky's decision. They were looking for a big upset; wee part-time team knocking the cup holders out!

Over priced and understocked. Just how often to they run out of staples even before the end of the half time interval....
  35. Cannot disagree that the game was poor but............. we scorned 3 gilt edged chances, Storey, Draper and Polworth. Had the first two been scored, this would have been a different game. Goals change games and we need to score first and get the team playing more confidently. That is the difference from the County game where we scored 2 goals and the football was better so yesterday could have been so different had we got one of these chances. Partick came for a draw, no doubt of that and tried to make us play through them which we could not do. We did have width with both Mutumbo and Storey providing it and Raven/Tremarco as well at times. The player we are really missing at the moment is Vincent as I think he compliments Storey well and we look much better when he plays. Some of the postings on the game are, as usual over the top, we had a bad day at the office yesrerday, but let's get over it and support the team against Hearts. So many ficklefans on this site. Finally, and this had little bearing on the game, I thought the referee and stand side linesman were amongst the worst I have seen. Linesman seemed unable to make a decision and when he did, invariably got it wrong. Referee was simply dreadful missing so many blatant fouls, or simply saying they were not fouls when the clearly well. Storey in particular was being fouled every time he challenged for the ball yet the defender was rarely penalised. The referee also got some decisions wrong for Partick as well so at least he was consistent. Booking for Vigurs was shocking as either Osman or Amoo totally conned the ref for the booking. Some of the antics of the Partick players was very poor as they seemed to be hit by snipers at times the way they went down. A worrying trend in football as Stirling Albion players did the very same on Tuesday and generally the referee fell for it.
  36. I agree with the statement. At end of the day the pyros ruin a game and also wastes time of what could be a good game. It could also seriously injure someone. And I agree with the comments of those who do it should be banned. I don't know how they manage to get them sneaked in. As at Stirling myself and others I was with were standing not that far from them who had the flares. Not sure who it was but if that went wrong I dread to think what would have happened.
  37. not our game - but mentioned on SportSound that Ryan Christie on the bench for Celtic today.
  38. Barry Wilson doing his best to make sure we don't get a decent crowd at Tulloch Stadium by saying the crowd will want their money back and other derogatory remarks about the ICT games he has been to this season.-------------poor show from an ex player---probably sour grapes

If these outlets are franchised out the club get a lump sum upfront and have no control over price, quality or delivery. if the price and quality is to improve the club need to run the outlets !
  40. I may not go to many matches so yes to your first question he is better placed than I, however why does he have to be so negative about ICT, why does he have to wait so long before he updates the match he is watching (Twitter is way ahead of him with any goal attempts on most occasions) a good commentator is making the most out of a match, why doesn't he put the same emphasis on the positive as he does on the negative. It irks me when he stresses the negative aspects. It is bad enough having to sit at home listening to OAM without having a balanced appraisal to listen to. Having said that I am no lover of the negative in any case as well you know. Question two, maybe you have answered that question yourself ? Question three, as you threw in a bonus question at the end,---- NO----- and if he had I would have laughed it off and told him he was a cheeky B****r
  41. People like nopyronoparty94 tend to be quite far up the queue when it comes to gaining Darwin Awards.
  42. Young teens protesting against "Modern Football" does rather amuse me. What experience/knowledge do they have of any other kind?
  43. What was that all about then. Did we get what we paid for? I don't think so. If you paid a pound you were short changed.I have a season ticket and feel cheated. I think the next deal should be, we will pay you to come. Back to football, the question is,. when will we be back to football? There are some players who need to give themselves a shake, even if it serves them to be able to work out what the management team require of them, from the stand I don't have a clue . Is it enough to give it "a right good go" or should we revert to football, that is the question. signed Disillusioned
  44. I'm sure it's quite like a lot of young kids who support Rangers (or used to when there was glory to be hunted). It's something people tend to grow out of as they mature. Pyro is possibly to the 2010s as flares and male perms were to the 1970s.
