  1. Just out of interest, Astra are currently top of the Romania League: http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/association=rou/domesticleague/standings/index.html We may have been disappointed but we can be extremely proud of our debut in Europe.

What? The rules being applied in a way that punishes smaller clubs whilst letting the Old Firm get away with murder? Surely not!

i think i am more worried about the fact he has obviously robbed John Motson's house and stole his jacket
  4. No compliance officer involvement over the Draper penalty incident, so no dive. McInness can get back in his box!

To anyone who is a genuine football fan and there for watching the game and their team - none, stewarding is only an issue if you hope to get away with unacceptable behaviour IMO. I (like probably everyone on here) have been to football matches, gigs, festivals, nightclubs etc with over zealous security or stewards who let the little power they have go to their heads, however that would never encourage me to avoid or not attend an event if I'm a fan or its something I enjoy. We have seen arguments for poor attendance featuring - merger, stadium location, cold weather, cost, not liking yogi or any other management team, pies are crap, tea's too cold and many more............are people seriously suggesting stewarding and policing of games is another for the list? Those who boycott seems a crazy idea, are people suggesting that they would rather stay away to sympathise and support someone who has been convicted of chanting offensive and racial slur in favour of a preference for more laxed security? Whether an individual or a group this behaviour has no place in football or society and if a firm stance is not taken then it will just descend and I for one don't want it being like the Eastern Europe or Italy where large sections of fans are openly racist and its accepted and tolerated by clubs and national associations alike - the day it gets towards that is the day myself and many other fans will walk away.

Its a double whammy really, the club have to pay for the stewards, the stewards chuck one of their customers out, the customer gets fined and the club dont get any of his money for a year as well. There have been plenty of warnings about the gypsy word though. It's not the clubs fault it's goes higher than them and they have to tow the line. The County fans take it in good jest by replying id rather be a gypsy than a tink. I don't think boycotting the stadium will affect the people who make and enforce the rules in the slightest. In fact it will be deemed safer to manage with less people there. Instead turn out in good numbers and support the team.

You mean occasions on which you WEREN'T arrested?
  9. I'm only complaining about one comment by Richard Gordon which was totally unprofessional. He may be very balanced normally but in this case he was obviously sickened by the result and couldn't keep it in. No amount of bbc apologists can wish this away and I'm sure the broadcast can be retrieved if necessary. I thought Willie Miller was fine and gave ICT loads of credit for a fine performance. I only heard it as I had to go up to Lewis on Sunday for family reasons or I would have been at the game instead of sitting in the car listening to medium wave.
  10. What was wrong with football at 3pm on a Saturday, and any replays necessary by agreement with the teams. Far too much tinkering about often to suit TV imo. Final at Hampden of course, but semis at nearest convenient ground large enough, which both sides are happy with.

A bit harsh. As someone who is follicly challenged I'd be delighted to have his hair issues

I'm really starting to find the whole gypsy stuff a bit tired. I know we might not look at it with much malice and neither ourselves or Ross County look at it as particularly offensive, but the world's moved on. Hard to believe anyone has any sympathy with this clown who got banned though as using terms about teams and people especially from Romania was always asking for trouble. Can't say I'll mourn the absence of this repeat offender who can't even get himself a half decent haircut.

IMHO this guy got exactly what he deserved. He had been in bother in the past and so of all the fans chanting DGB he must be pretty thick to risk joining in. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. And that goes for any others who were warned, charged or indeed joined in. I am not obsessive about the behaviour and language used at football grounds, it does add to the atmosphere and no one wants to be too afraid to say anything critical of the opposition. When the DGB chant is sung at our derby games, I will admit that my friends and I usually cringe a bit, but laugh a bit too, because as a previous poster said RC fans generally seem to handle it fine. I would never join in myself because I know that a moment of madness could cost me my job, possibly some good friendships and also my self respect as I do not want to consider myself to be a racist person. I also think the chanting at the European game reflected very badly on the club and on Inverness as a whole and considering we rely on tourism for much of our local economy it could have far reaching consequences. As for the stewards, let's hope that their superiors give them a lecture about making sure that the are completely honest about the facts for both legal reasons and general credibility. We like to slag off the the stewards nearly, but not quite as much as the referees, but I am proud to support a club where our fans are seldom arrested and these people are just doing their jobs - some of them are young and still learning in what can be a hostile environment, especially where they are concerned. From what I could see at the Aberdire game the police at the back of section E seemed to be having a laugh with some fans (although I can't know for sure as I was too far away to know what was said but it all looked amicable enough). An authorised standing section would also be good, as I have to admit I've reached an age where I like to sit for the most part at games and being behind those who choose to stand could cause problems for some (but on Monday the standing crowd at the front were superb). Well I hope the guy who was arrested takes some of his enforced spare time to think over ways in which he could be (in the words of Earl), "just trying to be a better person", but I'm more inclined to think he will see it as him being picked on. Oh the irony!

I wasn't at this game so can't comment on the facts of this. I would not at all be surprised at stewards picking out an individual rather than trying to pick people out of a group and also being less than truthful when recounting what has happened. I've seen it happen at football countless times.

Yeah every time you log on without fail Anyway surely these gentlemen have now set a precedent, if these two stewards are on duty next season we will surely see an empty away stand within five minutes of the game starting when Sevco are back in town Dougal

That's a bit of a pathetic reply is it not? And why would you assume that?
  17. Thoroughly enjoyed Monday night's game and as usual this season the atmosphere was immense. How things have changed in that North Stand from just a couple of seasons ago where match after match at home there was literally nothing for the entire game. Really can make a difference so thumbs up for all the effort put in by the majority of those involved in section E. My old man met me at the game and paid cash, showed me his seat number was row C in section E...I suggested he might give it 5 minutes and find an empty seat in section B or C , he was nearly greeting the last time he had to stand for the whole game. I was a bit surprised to hear Barry Wilson on the radio after the game saying that was our best performance of the season. I thought we were good but only once we had been given a shot in the arm by means of a Greg Tansey penalty and their opener look like no effort at all, they then started pressing and it looked like we could be in for a long night. These things happen and our equaliser sparked us into complete dominance after which Aberdeen did absolutely nothing to deserve anything from the game. There were controversial moments but at the end of the day we were the better team and did much more to win the game than some bitter sheep might suggest we did. Top marks to Tremarco, Draper, Warren, Storey, Roberts, Tansey and enjoyed Mutombo's appearance off the bench. Horner was ok but I thought quite poor when he gets into a drive forward....he gets there fine but then spills the ball pitifully quite often but maybe he could do with a similar run in the team which has shown such an improvement in Tremarco this season as it could well be down to confidence. Massive 3 points.
  18. Relegation battles are entertaining. If we had beaten or even drawn with Falkirk in ours the cheers at the TCS would have been just as loud and heartfelt as the magic afternoon we beat St Johnstone to secure our first promotion to the SPL....Not that any of us were certain that we were going up that day...
  19. This is all courtesy of watching the game live on BT - I wasn't in the ground. We undoubtedly caught a few breaks last night - and from Collum of all people - but I think we actually deserved that. We have finally come from losing the first goal to winning a game for the first time this season, and it looked like we used their goal as motivation, rather than the heads going down as usual. Gash Taylor was shocking - easily our MoM! I wasn't impressed by Aberdeen, and if they want to play the physical card, fine. That's twice now that they have lost crunch games and are bleating about being bullied. I think it is more a case of lost bottle. Much as I would like there to be a title challenge, I would prefer it not to be provided by those roasters. I wonder if they have to pay extra for hotels for 'crunch' games, because every time they have one, they sh1t the bed! For the penalty, I am tempted to say "but there was contact, and he was entitled to go down" but it annoys me when other teams do it, so I won't. Aberdeen's claims - I've seen them given, but then again I've seen them not given too. Collum was something else. His inconsistency is the only constant. Roberts was booked for standing on Shinnie's foot, but Shinnie got away with the exact same thing later. I thought Tremarco looked quite solid at left back, and Horner did ok defensively, but was prone to losing the ball in attack. Devine and Warren were comfortable enough. Vigurs seems to be coming into some form, and is starting to be a nuisance for other teams in midfield. Took his goal well too. Roberts and Storey played well individually, but the partnership didn't quite hit it off - hopefully just needs time. Mutombo looked dangerous when he came on, and gave us that directness we often lack. Draper bossed the midfield. Bring on the 'Tic!
  20. Big result. It was nice to get a bit of luck with the referee's decisions for a change, but regardless of how much Aberdeen bleat (and they will bleat a lot) we were the better side. It was a good team effort and we showed more desire to win throughout the park. We do so much better when we adopt a more "up and at em" approach and look to get forward. Too often in the past when we get in the lead we tend to sit back and defend the lead. Tonight we kept pressing forward and got a 3rd, after which Aberdeen wilted. A great night's entertainment!
  21. Great game & great atmosphere , good to see us back in the top 6 . 3 points on Saturday v Septic would be grand ... MON THE CALEY !!
  22. Wasn't expecting to win so easily, particularly when I heard Williams and Raven were out. Pleasantly surprised! Tremarco is really starting to look the part at left back, he won his battle with Logan pretty decisively tonight and showed great composure to see out most of the game on a yellow card. That's also now a goal and an assist in consecutive games. The midfield completely bossed the game and made Aberdeen look ordinary. Vigurs took his goal well, but also put in a great shift tracking back and closing down. Polworth had Shinnie in his back pocket. When it was all said and done Aberdeen simply gave up trying to play football against a technically superior team and resorted to playing for soft free kicks to hoof into our box. That was all they had in their locker. It's hard to fathom how they're so far up the table. Without Rooney's goals they'd be struggling to make the top 6. They're starting to remind of of Stuart McCall's Motherwell.
  23. A well deserved and very useful three points against the league's form team. Follow that up with at least a point from Parkhead on Saturday and it will be the best week of the season so far. Sometimes critical of him but credit to the manager tonight forgetting his team selection and tactics spot on.
  24. The last thing we need to do now is to sit back and try to defend this lead.
  25. Do you remember when Mark Wright apparently got attacked by the ICT cake baking casuals in Glasgow train station and couldn't make it up to Inverness for a guest appearance at a nightclub.

On the contrary, I would say that anyone else partaking was lucky as opposed to this person being unlucky. The attitude that one person should not be pulled up when others are also involved is very bizarre....in fact, it's the very thing that many here complain about time and again when it involves other clubs.

The article doesnt state why if there were a group of others partaking what the actions of this individual were to draw attention? He may have been animated in a fashion that accompanied the vocals - whether he did it or not and whether he was a single person chanting or part of a larger group thats not for me or others on here to judge. He went to court and his defence was deemed not robust enough to have charges dropped - those are the facts based on the media report. Hopefully this sends out a clear message to all ICT fans as this kind of chanting is not welcome, we should be a open club where all races, colours and religions can come along and enjoy football without comment or persecution - everyone knows this is wrong throughout not just football but society as a whole. Too much chanting based on culture or beliefs still exists in Scotland, its good to see a hardline stance taken - lets hope that other sherriffs see this and impose similar constraints on those who appear infront of them regardless of connection to ICT or other clubs - I'm fed up of some of the chants we hear at games (not usually from ICT fans I will add)

1500 Aberdeen fans openly abusing the referee on Monday must be ok then. seems to be a case of double standards somewhere.

I have posted this in the ICT Forum rather than general football as I am delighted to say that national semi finals have become of increasing direct relevance to us in the past few years and, with any luck, could well be again this season. Whilst generally a traditionalist, I think the time has come to consider the semi finals of both the Scottish Cup and the League Cup being switched to two legged affairs. If it's good enough for the Champions League, The Copa del Rey and the English League Cup it could well be good enough for us. I see a number of advantages; Firstly, there is fairness to the club and supporters. In the last three seasons we have been forced to play cup semi finals against clubs in their home cities. It's to our great credit that we won two out of three of these but the fans were still out of pocket, the team disadvantaged and our numbers reduced to about 3,000 albeit 3,000 who made themselves sound like three times as many. This season already, both St Johnstone and County have been obliged to play semi final opponents at 'neutral' venues in their opponent's back yards. I am sure that there will be revenue advantages too, grounds are likely to be full or at least fuller. I know we struggle with crowds but I have little doubt that we would fill the Main and North stands and maybe even the wee West stand for a semi final on our home turf and whoever we play is likely to cram the South Stand for such an occasion. There would be two extra prestigious games to sell to TV and tournament sponsors and the proceeds could, as now, be pooled between all four participants and both TV and sponsors would much prefer full stadia rather than the sight of Hampden barely half full even when Celtic are involved. The final advantage is that the National Stadium would be kept for finals which would make those occasions even more special and unique than they already are.
