Bottom line is that the club are at risk of getting into trouble because of the behaviour of these supporters. It doesn't matter if said supporters think that's unfair - its the way the SFA are running things right now. Is it really worth damaging the club's reputation (and bank balance, potentially) just to set off a smoke bomb in front of a few hundred fans at Brechin? On a personal level, I groan with dismay whenever I see flares and smoke bombs. People have been badly injured (or killed in at least one case I read of) because of these devices. I also know of fans with chest complaints such as asthma or COPD who are made breathless if they are in the vicinity. Oh, and in a piddly little ground like ours (or Brechin's) they just look naff.

IMO this subject is so important for the future of OUR club. The 10% voting right is something which has basically been donated to the supporters and I would urge every Caley Thistle supporter to join CJT as soon as membership is due for renewal and is open to new members. Your membership could ensure that the supporters wishes are heard in the event of a shareholders vote.

This is exactly how I feel. I think the past should be celebrated but so indeed should the present. Trying to wipe out history will just upset even more folk imho

Putting some of the heavy handed stewarding aside, it might help if some of our younger fans realised that they're supporting Caley Thistle, not Red Star Belgrade.

Thanks, Liz. That's a very encouraging response. I think folk need to take particular note of Liz's statement that she only joined the Board last year and therefore she should not be held accountable for any shortcomings people may perceive in CJTs activities in recent years. Full marks to Liz for being prepared to take on the difficult work involved in trying to get CJT up and running again. She deserves our support for taking this on. We really need to put any failings of the past well and truly behind us. It is in the interest of any football club to have an active and representative fans group, but particularly so for ICT as we have the gift of a 10% voting stake in the affairs of the club. But a successful and representative supporters group requires much more than the hard work of a small handful of people who are willing to give up their own free time. It needs fans of all ages and backgrounds to do their bit. Whether it is simply clicking on the agree or disagree button on a proposal posted on line, or standing for the Board, or a host of things in between, we all have it in our power to help make CJT the success it needs to be in order to help the club achieve the success we would all like it to achieve.

If he has triggered the "relegation" clause in his contract he should be training and making himself available for selection until he finds a club.

I may be wrong DD but I thought we were the only club formed in the SPFL as a direct result of a merger (at least in living memory). This should be a unique selling point for the club and while I will remain a staunch ICT supporter till I die, I am also proud to have been an Inverness Thistle supporter in the past. I don't see why we need to ignore the past while celebrating the present. As you say however, there are more important things that need addressing at present.

There seems to be an attitude from the young team that because they are creating an atmosphere, anything else that comes with it is part and parcel of it. No acknowledgement from them of flares/smoke bombs not being permitted in the ground or verbally abusing of stewards(heavy handed as they were at times) being unacceptable. They need to take responsibility, self police themselves better and, in some cases, just grow the **** up.

I do actually have some reservations about responding in more detail to this post because the last thing I want is to have to repeat for the umpteenth time that any discontent about the merger almost 25 years ago was far, far more than counterbalanced by the dividend of the club being formed so, almost quarter of a century on, the comparatively small number of original discontents has shrunk by natural wastage to an insignificant rump. However, it is necessary to re-establish that "un-dingable chiel" in order to eliminate arguments against celebrating Inverness's long football heritage, of which Inverness Caledonian Thistle is the most recent and, despite current setbacks, by far the most successful chapter. Organised football in Inverness even predates the mid-1880s when the merger partners were both founded. Over 100 years later, two clubs which had accumulated hugely proud histories in the intervening period joined forces to create an even more successful one which is merely the latest instalment of what has been a continuous heritage. All of this needs to be celebrated and recognised. And, as Huisdean has said while I've been writing, there are those around (probably far more than the unco-offended) who still want to celebrate the entire heritage. It makes no sense at all to suggest that the earlier part of this continuous heritage should be airbrushed out of history to appease sentiments predicated far more on imagination than actual substance. So... 1 - Caledonian Stadium? What's wrong with that? It's what the stadium has been or was designated to be called right from the start and it's not a title which very many people around actually object to. (PLEASE nobody come up with the "But there's loads of boys at my work who say...." excuse. We all know that of the 600 who used to turn up between Kingmills and Telford St, 6000 still refuse to attend the Caledonian Stadium.) .... 2 - Kingsmills Suite - as previously stated this has already been usurped by The Daily Sheep. So is someone going to object to that as well because it will create offence among those offended by the manner in which Aberdeen Journals treated its staff during the 1989-90 PandJ strike?.... 3 - the combined effect of the Thistle and Caley photos and the growing number of ICT ones is to give a complete illustration of Inverness's football heritage. Or is the suggestion that Pittodrie should remove all pre-1983 photos since it's a well known fact that football was only invented in May 1983 ..... 4 - only someone who (A) knew the cabinet came from Telford St and (B) had a chip about that would really give a toss..... 5 - arguments about "too much blue" or "25% black and red" are relics of the 1990s. Blue, black and red are the club colours and have been since its second season. Again, very, very few give a toss any more about the background to this. The main issue you hear about the colours is that the amount of blue is unacceptably close to Rangers. And if Caman wants to sweep away relics of past history, perhaps the twin Thistle and Eagle components of the badge should therefore be first in line..... 6 - ICTFC is an acronym which stands for the full club name - a composite of those of the two merger partners. Why retain that, then if the rest is to go? There really is no need to re-visit the day before yesterday's conflicts in an attempt to address a problem which barely existed after about 1995, is now a distant historical memory and which supports a far stronger case for itself being airbrushed out of history rather than the very good things that took place in Inverness football before the mid-1990s.

Having been at the game, I was sickened to see the behaviour of some of our supporters. ( It was a minority ). If they can be identified I think the club should hand out some punishment to them.

Absolutely embarrassing folk complaining about OFW not leaving. He is under contract and if he doesn't receive an offer he fancies then quite right that he stays here. He had a decent first season, 2nd not so good but then he was playing through injuries. Yes, it's frustrating that we're paying him a large wage but then we did take in a large bonus for him for being at the Euros. Give the guy a break.

Totally agreed and fully intend to get membership open again prior to AGM, just trying to focus on geting all our current members details updated, get the accounts signed off by the accountant and getting wheels in motion for new office bearers and AGM date set. Once all of that is completed we will get membership open.

It doesn't help when some of those who are not currently office bearers are sniping from the sidelines rather than contributing constructively.

He has what it takes in his locker to become our most valuable asset. His tongue could however prevent this.

Its been said n here before, every season we see Polly get more and more chastised for his lack of progress or performances then he will have a great game (maybe 1 in 5 or 10) and he will be hailed as a bright hope again. Wont be getting too carried away and will wait and see - bearing in mind we were playing probably the Championship relegation favourites its not necessarily the performance benchmark that will define turning the corner and fulfilling potential.

I felt he got some unjustified stick last season. Hopefully his early form continues and he guides us up the league. My only criticism is that he can talk himself into trouble, as he did against Morton, hopefully that does not happen too often.

Thought Polworth had a cracker on Saturday. Seems to me that he isn't a winger (which we all knew anyway) and he's too lightweight to be in the middle in a 4-4-2. As part of a midfield trio though, with a man holding, he looked born a-new.

I have no problem with OFW holding out until he gets a contract he feels is right for him. However, until then, he has a contract with us and it is reasonable to expect him to play for us if the manager asks him to. If he keeps saying he's picked up a niggle in training the day before a game then increasingly other clubs are not going to offer him a new contract. His behaviour is bizarre and self destructive.

Pretty sure I read at the time either on here or local rags that the "tens of thousands he brought us" was paid back largely to him as a bonus for re-signing? Could be totally wrong but it's in the back of my mind somewhere. Anyway point is does he want to be a professional footballer or a gardening leave goalkeeper/painter. Football is a short career and u would hope he isn't deliberately turning down offers elsewhere to sit on his erse here.

The club was more than happy when it was getting thousands from when Fon Williams was away at the Euros. Fon Williams has a contract and he's more than within his rights to want it to be honoured. And why should he look for something new? He has gotten himself a good deal and made the club plenty of money - he's well within his rights to sit tight, I know I would.

It's amazing how consistent the needs for various targets are across leagues and seasons. 2pts/game average is challenging for honours, 1.5/game is challenging for play-offs and 1/game is relegation material. So after 8 games, we need to be at the 12 point mark to be towards top 4: Less than 8 and there are warning signs, if early in the season. My guess is 9.

It was ridiculous in the North Stand. The way some guys were carrying on you'd think Polworth had shagged their missus and stolen the microwave.
