  1. Some fans have to moan at someone now that Polworth has settled in fine at Motherwell

This is the plan for podcast 4. We're going to invite them on, cross-breed them in the lab adjoining the studio and create the ultimate ICT supporter, a statistician in a vest known only as Grimpson.
  3. I know. It is just frustrating that some are so negative in the wake of our biggest win in a long time!!
  4. I think some who have commented on the tv coverage are being overly negative about the first half. Morton came into this on a good run, above us in the table, and were pacy at times. I felt it was pretty even, but we started to be on top as half time approached, got a deserved lead and kicked on. I see virtually all home games and the occasional away one: that was our best display for some time, certainly at home where we have under achieved in recent times Well done to the team and management: more of the same, please.

Unlikely - he’s getting first team football there, something we wouldn’t be able to guarantee....

Yet again there was almost trouble due to siting the away fans in the middle of home fans in the main stand without adequate stewarding. This is the third time that this has happened, at least in which I have observed. The away fans refused to sit and stood along the passageway. After asking them to sit the stewards and club management gave up. After ejections of home fans for less in previous seasons this is bewildering and indeed in breach of the safety guidelines under which we are granted a certificate. If we don’t want to open the south stand why are the away fans not placed in the west corner of the north stand where they can be segregated more easily? As well as Jim K did in keeping the Caley and Morton fan apart there is insufficient stewards to stop things kicking off and as before this is now the third time that trouble has almost happened.
  7. Whatever!! Coll has played well in the last two home games and has doubled his scoring record from last season already. As someone has said on a different thread, we should extend McCart’s contract if we can.
  8. Ah yeah. Your missing the point. We have to select one of our better players who is playing well and randomly criticise them. It’s McCart this week and next week it will be Rigders for saving penalties but not holding the ball ?
  9. 2 points
Use the money wisely and offer McCart a contract extension and he could be the next decent money maker.
  10. Snoozefest for the first 44mins, then we came to life, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the paltry crowd. No way over 2000 there tonight. Positives all over the park tonight with good options on the bench,a marked contrast from last year. Good nights work
  11. At last dangerous up top been crying out for that for a couple of seasons said when we got Storey back we'll push UTD all the way stand by that wer going up this season either way champs or play offs always had the solid defence decent midfield now we can score happy days
  12. Agree that Jamie McCart was superb all game. There was a time when people said we were predictable. Hats off to robbo as he has created options now. Well done to all as this was a team performance and they all showed skill, determination and application. Fantastic... ????
  13. I was a bit disappointed with the team selection but I am happy to acknowledge that Robbo knows more about team selection than I do. It was a terrific team performance. Morton have started the season well and were the league's top scorers before tonight's game, but they were never given time on the ball. We won a lot of ball from good solid tackling and then used it more quickly than is often the case. Everyone seemed to want the ball and there was decent movement off the ball. Great to see a few balls played inside the defenders for a change. We've been lacking that even though the strikers have been looking for those balls to be played. I thought we more than edged the first half and were pretty decent. Rooney and Walsh were really impressive down the right whilst Doran threatened several times when cutting in from the left. But we scored an excellent 2nd goal early in the second half and kicked on from there as the players' confidence grew. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a game as much as that. Well done to Robbo and the lads!
  14. Hopefully give Morton the bums rush next week also. ?
  15. First half was pretty even although Morton had probably the better chances. These however came from poor defensive clearances from us and misplaced passed by our midfield and defence. The second goal settled us and we started to defend a lot better and the whole team kicked on as a result. We have been quite poor defensively recently and if we can carry on with last night's improvement, things are looking up As for some posters criticising McCart, he has been our best defender this season whereas Donaldson has been a shadow of himself. Hopefully he will kick on with the improvement shown in the second half but needs to hugely improve on his distribution.
  16. Negative - Nah. Guarded optimism - Yeah. Great result, good performance and something to build on.
  17. If we can tie Jamie McCart down to another couple of years on his contract we could IMO make some decent money from any future transfer fee. FFS don't develop him and then give him away to Aberdeen for f**** all like we normally do.
  18. I agree on Morton's failure up front and in respect to us allowing them the chances however to flip that on it's head, for me the pleasing aspect is we took notice of it. While they parked the bus we took the game to them and showed a ruthlessness we've lacked for a long time. All too often we'd have huffed and puffed in a game like last night.
  19. Have you seen him play recently? He’s become our best defender.
  20. It wasn't just up front they were terrible on numerous occasions the left CB had his hand in the air for offside whilst the right CB and/or right back was playing the man on, this happened regularly in the second half. The easiest way to defend long balls is to step up but they seemed to be at sixes and sevens.
  21. Can't disagree with that summary. Broadly speaking, that's the way it looked to me too on TV. I'm a little surprised that there are not more positive comments on here, after our biggest win in a long time, against a well fancied Morton outfit. Second half performance was just what we need. Well done lads.
  22. Aye, Morton back in Sneck next Saturday, in the Caramel Wafer Cup. Does Robbo stick with the team that beat them 5-0 - that would surely be a psychological advantage, and could help the team gel. Or does he mix it up a bit and give some others a run out - which would also be a good thing. Nice problem to have.
  23. Hope it wasn't just a fluke and we can replicate it on Saturday...
  24. I will agree with the rest. I thought the first 35-40 minutes was the worst witnessed at the Caledonian Stadium and it would hold no interest for the neutral fan. Total lack of atmosphere and little to enthuse over on the park. What a contrast in the second half right from the whistle and the usual profligacy was replaced with clinical finishing. Something not seen for a long time up here but very welcome. Shaun Rooney was the only thing that lit up the dull first half but the transformation after the break was amazing. All over the park things were happening and even Marky saved a poor penalty to keep the clean sheet. Good to see Keatings get a couple of goals, hopefully kick start a run of goals for him. As already said, McCart is turning into a solid defender and his long ball accuracy is usually perfection. Relax, it's Saturday, let the rest take the strain.
  25. I seem to recall a 5-0 scoreline against Arbroath way back in the pele days, with help from a Barry Robson masterclass?
  26. At last !!!!!!!!!!!
  27. Brilliant win and fantastic performance. A lot of credit must go to our forward players but I thought are defence were superb. That was Tremarco's best performance for a good few weeks. Donaldson was solid and scored a great header and Rooney was sound defensively but also such a threat going forward. Jamie McCart was tremendous. He won tackles and headers and his range of passing was superb. He just gets better and better. And to top it off Ridgers saves the penalty. Every player though deserves credit because to a man they were superb.
  28. Well, there was a 5-1 v Dumbarton 2 seasons ago, Nathan Austin hat-trick. Our biggest league win last season was just 3-0. Tonights result is our biggest league win since the 7-0 promotion party at Ayr in 2010.
  29. Thought it was quite a scrappy first half, until Rooney made a run from virtually his own corner flag all the way to Morton's penalty spot . It seemed to change the game and we scored shortly after. Second half we got a perfect start and never looked back. Can't remember the last time we won 5-0 at home in the league. Tremendous result!
  30. A very enjoyable evening. I thought we shaded the first half and just about deserved to be ahead. A flyer at the start of the second settled us and we then kicked on. A bit surprised about the earlier comments in this thread as I expected a tough game. Where we struggled at times in the first half, it was generally self inflicted. I actually felt we played for the full match, which we don’t always do, and by the end we were coasting and looking for a sixth. Just a pity there was quite a small crowd. Hopefully that gives confidence and we stay in the play off places. United are a cut above everyone, we need to be the next best and aim for second. The pitch looked good again, and the sprinklers were in use before the game and at half time despite the heavy rain earlier. It seemed to play well. We are best when we move it fast. More of that, please. Of the players, Ridgers was rarely troubled and a good penalty save. Rooney is doing much better this season. Tremarco was the best I’ve seen him this season. Donaldson took his goal well, whilst McCart is class. Carson and Vincent worked hard. A couple of slack touches by Carson, but I think he will develop into a mainstay for us as he wants to take the ball down and play it. The new Tansey? Walsh has some good touches and runs. Doran held the ball well but seems to have lost a yard of pace, Keatings took his goals well and was lively. White took his goal well. Of the subs, Storey was quiet until he switched to the right late on. Todorov did very well for his goal, assuming he was just on side. MacGregor looked lively as always. Most enjoyable 90 minutes for a long time! More please!!
  31. Never made the game working away typical of my Donald Duck watched it on TV wow we really took our chances arrival of big Miles has shook up our forwards eh nothing like a threat to your place! Can't complain bout anything here 5-0 against a Morton team Iv bet on for a play of place happy days COYC
  32. 1 point
Aye, too good for Celtic...get him back...
  33. That actually happen or am I dreaming?
  34. Wow it's been a long time since we scored 5 goals great second half performance well done to all the team tonight
  35. Can't complain at 5-0, but Morton were really, really poor. Including one of the worst penalty attempts that I have ever seen.
  36. ROONEY the MOM by far in the first 45 !!
  37. For the benefit of the players here are the names of the crowd.

    Aye, unlike your patter.

  40. Aye, Coll is making him our best defender with his performances. Like I said I think if he can focus on his defending, particularly in the air where he doesn't dominate like he should for his size. I don't think he's the type of centre back that forwards fear playing against...yet.
