  1. I agree entirely. The last time The Rangers visited on a Friday evening we missed gilt edged chances right at the start and right at the end of the match. This fixture owes us three points. Moreover, we have been the 'crisis club' of the Premiership for a few weeks now. With the happenings on and off the park at Ibrox just now, win on Friday and that title will be well and truly transferred to the visitors and the knuckle dragging hoards who follow follow them. If Dundee can do it there's absolutely no reason why we can't. Remember we have won a major national trophy. The Rangers never have.

  2. Obviously the pre-Christmas update didn't happen, but the club took a huge step forwards in regards to developing it's online offerings with the installation of a high speed line at the stadium during the past week.....and we'll be working hard over the next few days to try and get ourselves in a position to launch live streaming with the Rangers game on Friday night for overseas fans, with an on-demand option being made available for UK viewers after the hold back period. We'll be doing some testing Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday evening so keep your eyes peeled on here for information on how you can help with that by patching in to streams and giving us feedback on how it functions etc. We have made a start on the second part mentioned in my last post above by adding 2 new volunteers to the Media Team. Liam and Sean have been with us for a couple of weeks now and are quickly coming up to speed....in fact I can say with some confidence that they have already passed the point of being time consuming (through the need to be trained etc) and are now productive members of the team. As well as assisting on match days with the first team, they will also be covering development matches as and when available. Priority will be on our home games to start with, but that will extend to away games more and more as we build on their skill set and ability to function independently....it all just takes a little bit of time.

  3. It seems to me that Bughtmaster is fully entitled to his opinion even if it does very often seem to be rather skewed and very much in the minority. He his equally entitled to air his view on this site. It is, after all, a forum for fans of ICT with all sorts of view points. Nor do I think he can be criticised for attended relatively few matches. We don't know his personal circumstances and dyed in the wool fan's, wholly supportive of the club, are not able to attend often or sometimes at all for reasons of finance, geography, infirmity, work commitments and countless other reasons. Where I do take exception is with his persistent tendency to sneer at and denigrate others, often the majority, who hold different and entirely legitimate views many of which are based on what, unlike him, they glean from a little inside information or see on the pitch with their own eyes week after week while he is sitting at home listening to Open All Mikes sniping at the summarisers for making legitimate criticisms of our style of play particularly towards the end of the Hughes era when we could all see very clearly what was happening. Worse still is his arrogant and high handed tendency to speak of the 'support' of those he disagrees with clearly implying that he doesn't believe that these people, many of whom put a great deal of time, effort and hard earned cash genuinely supporting the club we all love in very practical and financial terms. So, I suggest that he continues to post his opinions after all the site would be a very dull place if we were all of one mind but does so in a somewhat more respectful manner and, for goodness sake, when you've clearly lost the debate put that bloody shovel away and move on to something else.

  5. . Wow, that's a huge and very encouraging surprise. If there is a monthly subscription I would prefer to pay for the season in advance and that should, perhaps, help you also to meet ongoing expenses. Whatever you need. In the event of something going amiss during the season you could place the money directly into the club or something. Your money suggestions are reasonable to say the least. Congratulations and thanks, gentlemen, for all your hard work.

  6. The Foran XI looks stronger than the IHE XI, imho. The three in the middle was a big part of our ability to remain competitive throughout the game yesterday, and Anier hasn't shown enough in any of his games to warrant a start. In fact, if we were going to throw a second striker in there, I'd be inclined to give Ebbe his chance.

  7. I'd be surprised if at least one of Warren or Mckay - probably the former, because he is club captain and a more natural centre half than Mckay despite his dodgy form this season - doesn't come in for McCart, to offer more experience. Otherwise, I think he needs to go with the same against Rangers. That was a really hard-fought point: Hearts weren't at their best, but we pressed them and prevented them from taking hold of the game in a way we simply didn't do against Hamilton or (more understandably) Celtic. Mckay's hold-up play and movement up front were superb, and Cole looks a good outlet, although he has too much of a tendency to turn into trouble - I'd like to see him try to get a bit wider at times. Mulraney was less effective than Cole going forward, but his tracking back to put additional pressure on Hearts when they were in possession was really impressive. At the back, Raven and Tremarco both really stepped up to help protect the inexperienced central defensive partnership, of whom Laing looked the more assured, although both did well. The key, though, was the use of our three most dynamic central midfielders in their best positions, something most of us have been crying out for. Having Polworth, Tansey and Draper in the centre means that any one or two of them can push up when required, while the other one or two of them sit deeper. That's how it worked yesterday, with Tansey managing to get forward more than he has for months, and having his most effective game since at least Rangers on Christmas Eve. For all that Foran rates Vigurs' ability, surely after witnessing yesterday's performance he must recognise that this greater dynamism and controlled aggression in midfield is what we need if we're to stand any chance of finishing above 11th spot.

  8. In fairness, The Rangers have won a Challenge Cup. But then so have we.

  9. Warren shouldn't come back in, he has been a total liability at the back recently. Same team and formation as last week

  11. I see Aberdeen have four home Saturday fixtures in a row and this is the third match straight after the quarter final with Partick. Not a bad idea to suit their circumstances, I hope it's a full house and they manage to score 8 goals this time round.

  12. The key is maintaining the work rate. In recent interviews Foran has accepted that a problem has been that some players have been lazy in getting back to support the defence. I don't think that is just a criticism of the midfield, it is also a criticism of some of the back 4 who have not always got back as quick as they should on their forays upfield. Regardless of who plays, there has to be 100% effort. We also need to be disciplined as suspensions caused by too many cards could be a problem for us later in the season. Murty was critical of his team yesterday following their defeat to Dundee and my guess is that The Rangers will come to us with a much more focussed and determined attitude. We will do well to get anything out of the game. I like the way 12th Man has described the team with the timings of the substitutes. Billy Mckay has to start and you could start with any two of Cole, Doran, King,or Mulraney, but whoever is picked needs to run The Rangers' midfield and defence ragged in the knowledge that there are able replacements to carry on the work when they tire.

  13. Coming late - but I was delighted with the performance, the attitude, the fight (but 'fight' without the stupid challenges that cost us so badly at Sellick Park). Rode our luck a bit once or twice (some of the Jambo shooting was terrible) but deserved the point, at least. Won't be at the game v the New Club but I consider them a poorer team with poorer players than Hearts. They are also skint, having one of their regular crises, and wobbly away from home. A performance like Saturday should be enough for at least a point.

  14. Am I not entitled to express my view without you being offensive in reply? Whether Hughes wanted money for recruitment or for retaining existing players, the fact is he was using the media to pressure the Board for money which he knew the club could not afford. For some reason, you seem to think that is appropriate behaviour from a manager. I accept you did not say anything about money for recruiting. But why didn't you? Are you seriously trying to tell us that Hughes was not looking to recruit new players? If he wasn't looking for money to recruit new players then he should have been! Indeed, I am sure that he was. I may not be Hughes' greatest fan but I will at least credit him with enough savvy to recognise that no club, rich or poor, can exist without bringing in new players on a regular basis. As for retaining existing players, I am not sure what you expect of the club. You must be aware that that when players develop well here they will get offers from richer clubs which are way beyond the means of our club to match. Our best players will always move on to more lucrative deals elsewhere and therefore a key role of the manager is to attract new players to the club who have the potential to develop in the particular environment and ethos of this club. The thing about Hughes though, was that he just wasn't as good at that part of the job than some of his predecessors had been.

  15. I'm under no illusions that some people cannot make every game. If I were one of them though, I would temper my opinions accordingly and certainly wouldn't arrogantly question the level of support of those who attend far more matches if it did not suit my own agenda.

  16. After consistent errors of judgement, credit should be given to Foran for his team selection and formation played against Hearts. He now needs to back that up with pretty much the same tactics for the rest of the season, rewarding those who show the necessary commitment. IMO, what he does with Vigurs will be critical for our survival - the BBC report indicated that our midfield was energetic yesterday. Energy is what has been lacking and I don't think it is coincidental that we looked more energetic without Vigurs. Stick with the formula that works!

  17. Tell us, who was it that was trying to get rid of players like Raven and Tremarco? Who was it that didn't offer Brill a new deal? Which manager wasn't giving Nick Ross game time and forced him into seeking it elsewhere? Since you are so up to speed on all things John Hughes.....tell us, how many players did he sign, how many appearances (on average) did these players make and how many are still at the club? Value for money? When the manager needed support (due to injuries etc) the board backed him to such an extent he had the largest squad and largest budget of any manager at ICTFC. Despite that he failed to do what he said he could/would and you think he should have been given even more? Feel free to add me to the list of people who think you're delusional.

  19. Doofers Dad might have known you would put your bent pennyworth in There is nothing contradictory in these sentences, you obviously just don't read things properly! Where have I said anything about money for recruiting?? John wanted money to retain the players that were being given away so consistently by the Club and to ensure that we did not lose any more of our stars. old caley girl I new nothing of this blanking of players you speak of, a nasty trait I agree and one I would not have expected from him. What reason /s did he have for doing this??

  20. Enjoyed watching the extended highlights on Alba this morning, my impressions were; Overall a pretty tidy performance from us, Hearts had more attempts at goal than us but many were fairly tame efforts from distance that didn't trouble OFW, who looked secure and dealt with the penalty well Laing looks a decent signing for us, and McCart did pretty well...they both give Brad Mckay and Warren some competition, hard to gauge from just one viewing but Laing should probably start? Billy Mckay gives us a much better outlet and threat compared to the recently departed Doumbuoya (despite that latters tally of goals)...I thought Anier did OK when he came on, quite mobile, don't see too many goals in him though and between him Fisher and Boden probably not much to chose from We were pretty solid in midfield, Polworth not quite the bright spark he was last season, but getting there, I like Mulraney, and Doran looks fit and strong, we do have some useful wing options, but someone needs to really claim the spot. Lastly, I really like the look of Larnell Cole, and if it's possible we should try and secure him for next season, as I thing he will really start to thrive with regular games....theres a bit of Ryan Christie about him.

  22. Thought Laing was steady enough, him and Mccart seemed to acquit themselves well. Anier was uninspiring when he came on...I'd rather of seen Ebbe on for King Billy. And I'd hoped that Draper would get hooked when I saw Doran warming up...kept thinking he was gonna pick up a red card! More yellow cards though!! Grrr much better from Jake, with an end product. our team press for the first 60odd minutes was immense. Coley and Polly had wonderful performances, workrate was outstanding. A very promising performance all in all, and a much happier drive up the A9 than normal. Gladly of taken a point when I set off this morning, so yeah, delighted. Another 4 points from the next two games..... Thats us two games into an unbeaten league run.... MON CALEY EH!!!!

  23. Unbelievable, I am supposed to accept your word that you are right, that you know the ins and outs and that my thoughts and theories amongst others are delusional. Do your egotistical views Charles, for which you are a master at, hold no bounds ? Surely having been shot down in flames so many times in so many threads it is time you realised that you are not the be all and end all of subject matters, that you can be and often are wrong in your assumptions, generalisations and opinions. Time for a bit of modesty young man and time to listen to the other fellas' points of view.

  24. With Rangers in a shambles, on and off the park, why not expect at least get a draw from them? Yes, how did Anier and Laing do? And five stars to OFW for what must be the save of the season. After all, no loss and one point is a real spirit lifter for our team and the fans.. And I hope that this means his injuries are finally beginning to clear up because his record up to the point where he suffered greatly was fantastic. Meantime top marks to the team for their fighting spirit. Interesting report....... http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38940471 S.P.

  29. Tansey & Ofere - both players who scored important goals on our run, but he picked the team and tactics regardless of the players to get us to a final and win it - however its still evident from some on here he will never be given any credit for anything achieved.

  31. I don't like bullies, that's a fact, the treatment of Bughtmaster with the red dots is an absolute disgrace, that's a fact and his first comment about the board's appointment of RF as a fans favourite is a fact too. We have all seen the supporters on this forum clamouring for his appointment before JH was even forced out. I said at the time "be careful what you wish for". I had tears in my eyes the day we won the SC knowing how far the club had come and JH and the players did that, those who criticise JH for not recruiting players consider this in case you have forgotten, it was Steve Kinsella who identified those players, not Terry Butcher and the board should have bust a gut to retain Kinsella, I said so at the time. Unfortunately, there is no money in our club, nor in Scottish Football and I will make another prediction which you might bear in mind, half the current Premiership today will be part time within ten years. The only way to survive long term is to have a great coaching staff to rear players which cost nothing in transfer fees and JH was/is a great coach. Instead of panning him you should be thanking him for the greatest football moment most of us will ever experience.

  32. Hear Hear, glad you read things the way I do, I will add to that, that the board had already set their minds on Richie as J H;s successor and took the opportunity to make things difficult for the man, they played on the fact that a proportion of the 'support' saw John's style as being negative football, to some extent it was but John was looking to build on that and was frustrated that he couldn't get the money to 'keep the players he had earmarked for the Club's future success. Remember the Club's success would be his success so no wonder he spoke out when he realised this was slipping away through lack of the board's backing. Any manager worth his salt would decry anyone who would deliberately try to thwart his ambition. John also knew from the outset of his stay with us that Richie was the manager incumbent and said so on numerous occasions. He knew too that he was fighting a losing battle to better his career at the Cluib and that I believe is why we lost our most successful ever manager. Now Richie is in post and I have backed him from the start, He can still keep us up he may even close us in on top six, regardless of some of the opinions on here. I hope so anyway for the Club's sake. Today's point is so important it is a first step to confidence enhancement. Small steps can lead to a very long jump.

  33. I was reading Sarah Fraser's excellent book on the old Lord Lovat, and was reminded how the Sneck was 300 years ago a thriving port with close connections to the Baltic ports, Holland, etc., far more than with London. Also, that more than half of the population of the Scotland lived above the Highland Line, with the glens all around us relatively well populated. Fast forward to 2017 and the place is a cultural, economic and environmental desert, a backwater scrambling to get by through tourism and supermarkets. The union has been a complete disaster for the Highlands.

RELEGATION STATEMENT: This could have been said ten minutes after our defeat to Hamilton three days ago. So far, this is not the news that we on Caley Thistle Online wanted to hear. Pleased that we will still function as a club, disappointed that resignations have not been offered yet. Keeping fans waiting in silence for three days is unforgivable and relationships are drifting further apart than ever before. Silence is not the way forward, we deserve better as fans.

    • Inverness CT 2-3 (3-5) Hamilton - Play off final (relegation)
RELEGATED: Despite Inverness needing to get off the mark quickly, it was Accies that killed the tie inside the first fifteen minutes with strikes from Kevin O'Hara and Lewis Smith. Cammy Kerr reduced the leeway with a good strike from distance, but O'Hara struck again with a penalty before the break to diffuse the revival. We struggled to create anything of note and this reporter could not stomach any more and left the stadium. I'm told Alex Samuel pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but like the rest of the season it was too little too late.

A better showing from Inverness in the second half, especially with Lawal and Pepple on the park but it's Hamilton that take a one goal advantage up the A9 on Saturday. Lawal has been the standout performer in our last few games and surely he must start on Saturday. Pepple also did well, scored the goal, had an effort saved and got in a few balls across the box from tight positions.

Still, a shocker of a first half and we must be up for it from the start on Saturday.

The hurt, the pain, the reluctance and pig-headedness to listen to the fans asking what is going on, the lack of communication, the lack of ambition, the stench of mismanagement, the concert company, the battery farm, the demise since winning the Scottish Cup in 2015, the lack of passion, the lack of commitment, the dwindling fanbase, the lack of leadership. It has left the fans comfortably numb

However all is not well and we just kept our heads above water thanks to Arbroath being rubbish. Onto the play offs and an insipid performance at Links Park left us all wondering if our time has come to drop into oblivion. Our performance certainly would not look out of place in the lower leagues. We clung on for a 0-0 draw away from home and scraped a 1-0 win at Inverness with Billy Mckay saving our blushes. Everything about the club has negative undertones at the moment.
