  1. To those thinking of boycotting please please think of the other players here! Boycotting wont make one scrap of a difference to the SFA. We dont get to many cup finals so lets get behind the boys and cheer them to a cup win. Leave the politics to the club who appear to be doing just fine re that.

  2. Do we need a 3 person panel to consider use of the word “grave”? Or can we just get this thread back on track please.

  3. Hear, Hear. I would go as far as saying that a boycott would be a grave error.

  4. BREAKING NEWS ***SFA are convening a new panel to review the appeal! ***

  5. Bottom line is that the SFA realise that this one will not go away so have to save face, so have scapegoated. The card will be rescinded and James will be able to play in the final.

  6. The right decision will be made in the end but only by the SFA throwing out it's own rulebook and not out of any sense of justice but only to bring the ridicule which they have rightly been subjected to to an end. It's clear that the system needs to be reformed. There is no reason why written reasons for the decision can't be issued with 24 hours. Why give them effectively a full week to concoct something ? Justice in the end but those charged with our national game are a national embarrassment. Actually, the way this was going viral, they were quickly becoming an international embarrassment. Despite the volte face we still need to see in writing why two of the panel came to such an extraordinary conclusion in the first place. Job only partly done.

  7. so the un-named and anonymous panel member has been forced to fall on their sword so the SFA can say the decision was invalid and reconsider. This un-named and anonymous panel member will no longer be a part of future panels with other un-named and anonymous members (yeah right!) .... spin, whitewash and squirming to what is hopefully the correct result. If you happen to believe the SFA statement (and I take it with a full salt mine) .... If the function was simply to review video and decide if the card was merited, does them not fulfilling the duty mean they didn't watch the video in the conference call ? How else would you not fulfill the obligations of the panel ? Work not done though - these panels have to be reformed and made transparent. They cannot be anonymous and need to be able to explain their decisions . The comment earlier from Radio Scotland I think, that this panel apparently was made up of one ex-ref and two "non footballing" people beggars belief. Why are two non footballing people making a decision about the rules of football ?

  8. As long as justice for James is achieved ... that's the main thing. The SFA is a complete shambles but at least they've opened the door to correcting a grave error (rather than shutting up shop in arrogant defiance). It seems strange that it's only the panel member who owned up that has got binned. The whole panel should have been relieved from duties.

  9. This stinks a bit no? SFA have got their lawyers involved to find a way to reopen the case due to this 'mistake' which has timeously come to light... They have caved in to pressure, that is all, and likely they have fabricated a story to dig themselves out of the poop.

  10. Because the panel do not "re-referee" the decision...that was a point that was established during the Josh Meekings case. What they do is make a decision on whether the official has correctly applied the rules. If the official, as they have here, says that even allowing for the contact they consider the player to have gone down easy and it was simulation then (as per the Meekings precedent) it's not for the panel to say if that was right/wrong. I know that sounds absolutely ridiculous, and I am not saying it is right, but that is the system....and that is what needs changing. Given the public outcry and the pressure on the SFA I think we'll find the card is rescinded...but that will be a decision taken without following the current system. It will allow the SFA to make it go away, but it it will do nothing to prevent it happening again in future.

  11. ...and when they have dropped points so have we - they have played without pressure all season and with a lethal finisher up front. Last night was entertaining but highlighted the gulf, between an average team with Shankland, and the rest. Unless we can raise our game ( like we did against the tinks last year) in every game from now we might slip onto 3rd, 4th or lower.

  12. I watched the game and thought we played really well. Dundee united were under the cosh for long spells in the second half but Shankland is a level above this league and that showed. Our midfield was excellent even without welsh and there is real competition for positions. But I have to call out Brad Mackay and Kevin Mchattie. We sold our two best centre backs in December but during that game they performed better against united than our two departed stars have in over a year. Have we traded (or trained) up as we did not miss Mcart or Coll yesterday. Superb from both of them and real hope for rest of the season with Toshneys team of the week performance in the cup. Great management by Robbo to create and coach that depth of resources on his budget.

  13. Unlucky lads. We were well worth a draw, or even a win there. What a great game in atrocious conditions, and a good advert for Scottish football. I had a couple of calls at half time, from friends down here who were also watching it, and they were impressed. Normally my English friends here are pretty damning about the quality of Scottish football. Despite the defeat which might see us lose 2nd spot when Ayr next play, I am really encouraged with what I saw tonight. Once we settled down we had the measure of Utd for large portions of the game. If we can continue to play with that intensity, and skill, we should have no problem regaining, and holding on to 2nd.

  14. I was in hospitality (first time I’ve ever experienced that for an ICT game). Even from the very back of the upper George Fox stand, you could hear the splashes when players were running up the wing. You should’ve seen the reaction of the guy next to me, a neutral, when Tremarco hit the side netting in the last minute - 2-2 would’ve won him over £800. Ouch.

  15. It was a very blatant and inexplicable error. Not sure I would describe it as 'grave' though. A grave error is one that might result in death or injury. Football, as important as it is, is after all only a game.

  16. Spot on CaleyD. The system is obviously not fit for purpose but one assumes the clubs were aware of the system and agreed to it at some point. This should be the catalyst for change therefore. However, with the referee still insisting he made the correct decision, s major problem still exists with poor quality refereeing. If Gregg Aitken genuinely believe he made the correct decision, heaven help us as more poor and incorrect decisions will be made and not always rectified as hopefully this one will be.

  19. There is a lengthy statement, but basically one of the panel members has admitted to not having carried out their duties by reaching a conclusion after reviewing the evidence presented. The member has stood down from being considered in future.

  23. The difference between the teams is they have a goalscorer we have traffic cones up top and our best striker on the wing! Shankland knocked us back for Ayr when Foran was there could've been so different with him up top ! Robbo dose t no a striker from a red pudding supper by the looks of it

  25. Usual predictable pish against a bang average opposition, who were on a ***** run. FFS is there a worse player than Storey, who lasted for over an hour, before being hooked. Scandalous Roberston couldnt see it earlier.

Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.

The great escape coninues on Friday night at the Caledonian Stadium as we host Raith Rovers in a game that will also be screened live on BBC Scotland with Raith trying to cling on to the coat tails of Dundee United and the Caley Jags looking to slither away from the play-off zone. What could possibly go wrong? Savage and Carragher will be joined in the squad by a welcome returnee in Sean McAllister who has returned fit from Everton after about six weeks out. That's a nice wee bonus for Big Dunc. However, he has the wrath from Arbroath after his "tools down" comment in his pre-match interview. As long as he has not got the wrath from Raith. Keep the faith!

Massive: Just under 1500 fans rattled around inside the national stadium for the proverbial six-pointer at the bottom of the table with Inverness looking to get out of the play-off place and Queens one point ahead at the start of the game. In a tense first half Cammy Harper scored a stunning free kick after Cillian Sheridan had handled 25 yards out. Boom! That's how it ended despite QP upping their game in the second period as Inverness kept them at bay.

Hampden Calling: Carragher is now a doubt after feeling his hamstring. Other than that not much has changed apart from Remi Savage, who has not recovered after he got a boot in the face from Cammy Kerr. Apparently Kerr's boot is OK but Savage is suffering from minor concussion and will miss the next couple of games. Maybe that was Kerr ensuring he gets a game this weekend.
