Has or Chairman and Board lost the ability to speak, tweet or communicate in any other way?

I don't know the 'ins and outs' but there is nothing coming from there that shows focus, direct or hope!!

Getting disillusioned with the powers that be in ICT.

Wind your neck in she was referring to you previous point of not caring about what the board does and you like to turn up and watch a game. Nothing to do with your distance but you were quite happy to belittle other fans who want the board to Interact with the fan base. Appears no one is allowed an opinion unless it's in line with your own.

I think I see both sides here CMIB ... I am a bit like you too albeit even further away. The day to day stuff and the engagement have less effect on either of us given the distance involved. I am not sure if the supporter survey talked about in another thread covers this eventuality but I am guessing the relevance of engagement as a factor in your decision to attend games drops off exponentially in relation to distance away from the club.

We will still turn up to watch a game as and when we can because we have to make all sorts of arrangements to get there in the first place. In my case I obviously have to have flights, car hire, accommodation and nowadays I also have to keep an eye on school holidays for my little guy which is going to make things more difficult after this year. Although our trips are ostensibly to visit family, I would be lying if I did not confess to checking the fixture list out of the corner of my eye when my wife is talking about possible dates and maybe moving things a few days here and there to see if I can fit more games in !!! I also seldom visit between June and August when there is no footie !! 

However, I know engagement, presence and interaction can and do matter to those in and around Inverness (like OCG) . When that engagement and fan interaction is non-existent, as it currently is (and has been at points in the past also) then that absolutely has a detrimental effect on the perception and affinity most normal people have for their club. You still support it, but in many cases you feel they only speak to you when they want something (usually from your pocket). It wont stop you attending games or buying merchandise or anything else but you don't get that same warm and fuzzy feeling you normally do when it feels like we are all in it together (as it did after our first relegation). 

I do hope they sort themselves out communication wise. They are currently going backwards and it is painful to watch !  
 

 

Suggesting that work is going on behind the scenes is maybe the case, however the handling of situations in and around the club in the media has been a shambles over the last few years - Foran, OFW, Warren, Shearer, ST renewals, Tulloch & car parks etc. We all know the history of these cases and IMO none have been handled particularly well at all. Nobody expects details of all ongoings at the club but what is needed is more honest statements coming out and not spin just when they want money. If that cant be done then retract the statement on 'better' communication and go back to how the previous board was (also free up money by removing those brought in to improve this as its not working) - I'd rather nothing was said from the club than some of whats been put or leaked out.

Also not sure why some are turning on CJT as its not their position to follow up and announce information direct from the club when we have those employed to do so.

 

 

 

 

One can see even in this thread how difficult communication is, as it's so easy to write something that comes across poorly, that perhaps needs more explanation or detail and lacks the benefit of the spoken word and the friendly face (over a pint). Offence is easily taken, as can getting the 'wrong end of the stick'. Corporate bodies are even more prone to putting a foot wrong accidentally.

All about a fans group called the Holmesdale Fanatics who do a great deal to create a loud atmosphere at Selhurst Park, although not everything they do or say is welcomed by everyone. Anyway they were looking to relocate from a corner of their stand to be more central in the stand and create a larger singing section. However the area is full with existing season ticket holders. Things have not gone well! To the extent that the group have disbanded for this year, amongst much recrimination. Who's to blame, how badly have the club handled the situation, have the HF got ahead of themselves...who really knows!

As for Caley there are pointers on this thread as to what needs to happen...and the club needs to be pushed/encouraged/cajoled, do we all write letters or does the Supporters Trust lead the way 

Firstly, it has to be negotiated or co-constructed, between the two parties, which precludes any transmissive approach.  This would relate to structured dialogue.  Secondly, it has to be mutually beneficial - the supporters have to see benefit from it but so do the club.  With regards to Testimonials and ICT25, these are current examples and opportunities but there would be numerous examples here.  Lastly, it has to be equitable, the club has all the resources, paid staff, expertise, job descriptions - so has an inbuilt advantage, and power over the other, so this has to be recognised.  The club could assist with facilitating supporter engagement, and some examples have been suggested earlier.

This is before things like re-building/winning back trust and re-engaaging supporters happens (the ICT board's words, not mine).  I think the Supporters Trust will have taken notice of this thread, yes, but an email or DM there is a good way to check.  But if it is the case of the Supporters Trust having to do all the initiation and leg work then it won't really work.  There has to be ownership on both sides of any meaningful dialogue.

 

Just a quick note in regards to where the ICT Supporters Trust sits at the moment....

As many of you will be aware, there was a fairly recent change of board with the Supporters Trust which came about as the result of a call from members who had concerns over the state the organisation had found itself in.  When the new board took over, we communicated that the first order of business would be to sort out our own internal affairs and operations; with a view to presenting a society that was fit for purpose at the next AGM (set for December this year).

We should (without doubt) be taking a lead on many of the issues being raised in this thread, but the harsh reality is that the Supporters Trust inherited by the current board was in no position to be calling into question the clubs governance, communication etc. whilst it's own was a total shambles.  We have made solid inroads into getting our own house in order and we have also had an initial introductory meeting with the Club CEO, Yvonne Crook.

The Supporters Trust has a board meeting of their own on Thursday and we intend to issue a more comprehensive update on where we are at with various items by the start of next week.

None of the above should preclude individuals from raising concerns direct with the club.  In the absence of a direct address, an email to [email protected] with a request to forward it to the CEO is probably the best way for doing that.

50% of the Trust board may not have so I, and the other CTO members who are on the Trust's board and have posted, can't really claim the Trust has taken notice either,  until it is on agenda, or raised and also then minuted.  I haven't yet posted in a capacity of a Trust board member.  

I have raised one thread from CTO before.  As CaleyD has said above, there are updates on work being done to follow. 

Making sure Trust members direct the Trust, and the Trust board, is why I put my name forward, I'm excited about the upcoming AGM, there's been no twiddling of thumbs but lots to do before December still.  Getting to the stage where the club consults is another thing.  

But if I post here it's not coming from the Trust. 

I understand your logic, but I don't think I agree with it. I think it contains great potential for public confusion about  what is and  what is not the views and positions of the Trust.

At the very least, if an official of the Trust is posting here in a personal capacity, then they should make that explicitly clear.

And maybe the Trust should discuss what their position about personal postings should be. If, God forbid, some serious disagreement should arise, you don't want to have a public slanging match about it!

Fair point.  The long and short of my response was to acknowledge a range of board members' views and/or online presence.  I am on the Trust board, you're right, and my posts here do give a strong indication of what I would be for, or against, true. 

I think in the Gary Warren thread it was stated that it would be made explicit if it was as coming from the Trust, or Trust as a whole, and was otherwise in a personal capacity.

we have usually allowed groups to create additional official accounts to post things in an official manner. I think there is a CaleyJagsTogether account that can be renamed and used for this purpose. 

Given how awful most the communications from the board are people should be glad we don't hear anything from them.

It would be naive to think that current and past members of the club whether it be staff or players would be members on a site like this and lurk in the background at least. Being a small club without much media coverage I'm sure there are players who look in to see fan opinions - afterall not just our players but many have open social media accounts - twitter/instagram etc and look for followers - its an ego boost thing too. I'm not suggesting all players of all clubs use all forums but there will be some.

I no for a fact a lot of the players check this out I would see how popular I was! So beware anyone slagging Polly unless they want a cracked jaw like Kellagher got last season! If your reading Polly your still top boi in my book!

I know Stevie Hislop used to check us out ... he didnt like Mantis' comments about the way he walked and had a "full and frank discussion" with me about it at least twice  

There's a fair few players, former players and officials registered and lurking with odd ones participating. Based on conversations I have had I know there are just as many who say "I dont go there, its always so negative" although sometimes not so politely !!!  Each to their own I suppose. I have long since stopped being bothered about who posters are, its more important what they say !

Robbo has/had an account (in his own name) and has posted on here a few times, so clearly loves the place.

Yip. He did the odd, very informative, live question and answer session on here during his first spell in charge but that was when we had a board who were very much open to communication with the fans.

I have a strong suspicion that he would be actively discouraged from doing something similar now even if he wanted to.

The Robbo Q&A on here was AFTER his first spell. But very enlightening all the same.

I remember asking him why he persisted with Darran Thomson for so long.

i actually got to know Hissy a couple of years ago when he went into management with a certain Lowland League club but I think I got away with it.

All other clubs seem to be sharing the national fans survey but not ICT. I think that says volumes about their thoughts on where fans fit.  ICT only want two things from us our money and our silence.
